    raw burger

Do not come here. I ordered a burger and when I got home and started eating it, I realized it wasn't cooked all the way through. It was still raw in the middle which is not safe and I had to throw it away which is disappointing because im hungry... very disappointed cookout.i

Great first experience here! We went through the drive thru but could see inside and it looks so nice. Service at the window was super nice and helpful. We noticed this location also has walking tacos on their menu which isn't on their website. My daughter got the small burger with cheese, I had the 1/4 lb burger with cheese lettuce pickles and a side of fries and cole slaw. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich with slaw and a side chicken quesadilla and Cajun chicken wrap. We also got a side of Cajun fries, an Oreo mint shake and a snickers shake. All of that for under $30 bucks! Honestly we were impressed, I expected the food to be a bit greasy since it's fast food but it wasn't at all. 8 could really taste the char grilled flavor of the burger which I appreciated. The slaw as a side I wasn't a fan of, I do wish it had more flavor but it did taste good on the pork sandwich. The Cajun fries were AWESOME and will be my go to side from now on. Personally LOVED the mint Oreo shake and while the snickers was good, I wish the chunks were a little smaller since that candy gets pretty hard when it gets cold. First visit was a success and we will definitely be back soon! (Meant to take more pictures but we ate too fast for me to remember haha)

Been craving some BBQ lately and wanted to try something new. I stumbled across this place which I…read morehad no idea about considering it's right down the street from me, so I thought I'd give it a shot! It's right near Tanglewood Park in the corner of the shopping center across the street. I went in was greeted quickly the lady behind the counter was friendly so that was good. I'm pretty sure I was one of their first customers of the day but everything came out pretty fast. I got a plate of brisket with Mac and Cheese as well as fried okra (they give you a piece of cornbread as well). In about 5 minutes everything was ready got some extra bbq sauce and everything seemed pretty smooth. I decided to take a look at it everything before I drove and do a small sample test but wasn't quite what I expected. The brisket was a bit dry to my liking but some pieces were pretty good so I would say it was above average but I've some brisket around the area that was a bit better. The okra was lacking flavor it was fried perfectly but I didn't really taste any type of seasoning. With the right seasoning the okra would've been a 10/10! The Mac and Cheese was a bit different than what I'm used to it was cheesy but I wasn't a fan in all honesty. The cornbread was fire! Very easy 10/10 for me. Overall though it was okay I'd go back but would try something different for sure. If you're around Clemmons I'd still check the place out.

It was a little hard to find because a road is closed in the vicinity but we were able to find it using the Waze app. The building itself is a large steel structure which has been nicely finished on both inside and out. We arrived about 4:30pm on a Saturday afternoon and were immediately greeted. We were taken to a booth and there were a couple of other tables seated. Immediately, you could tell this was a family run business with multiple generations pitching in. The young man who took our drink order was friendly and efficient. They have quite a few taps on the back wall but they were not in service and therefore were only offering cans and bottles. The menu says they currently have malfunctions with their cooler. We were given time to peruse the menu but were checked in on to ensure we didn't have questions. The menu offers burgers, fries and dogs but they are all elevated. There are some very creative and special combinations which as the asterisk notates on the menu some items are unable to be changed. We decided to start with the pub bucket, which offers steak fries along with melted cheddar cheese and ranch. My wife ordered the Elvis burger which features bourbon glazed apples, peanut butter, banana chutney and cheddar cheese. I chose the Godfather which features salami, pepperoni and mozzarella, and I chose to get the creamy garlic pesto on the side. My wife went to use the restroom and on her way back she reported that it was very clean and she happened to notice their recent state inspection certificate boasted an impressive 99.5! Our appetizer arrived in a timely manner and while it looked different (we are used to restaurants serving fries with cheese melted with a side of ranch) this had the fries topped with cheese and the ranch poured on top. But let me tell you they were delicious! Lots of heavenly cheddar cheese which was perfectly melted and gooey topped with delicious ranch dressing. Our burgers arrived shortly afterwards and are wrapped up when served. We began to unwrap and they also looked delicious. My wife immediately started eating hers while my camera ate first. My wife commented that her burger was absolutely delicious and said she was a bit iffy at first on the cheddar cheese being served with the sweet toppings but was happy to report she thought it worked perfectly and she was glad she didn't alter the burger. My burger was a double and huge! Since I had asked for the aoili on the side because I am not a mayo guy and while it was very good I should have asked for some ketchup to dip my burger in. I enjoyed it alot and saved half for later. My wife had her eye on the apple ring sundae. It is Granny Smith apple rings, sliced and cored and dipped in cinnamon sugar and deep fried, topped with vanilla ice cream and cool whip and drizzled with homemade caramel sauce. She ordered the half version which includes three rings. It took a little longer for the dessert to arrive because by this time they had started to get busy with a majority of the inside tables full as well as a few outdoor tables and several to go orders. The dessert arrived and my wife was happy to report it was also delicious. So glad we finally stopped in and we already have talked about our next time. It was apparent from our time there that they have a following and it is easy to see why. We did ask about onion rings and were told they plan to bring back again in the fall. Awesome service, creative menu, clean and family run. Plan your visit!

They're absolutely unseasoned and bland. Not sure why, maybe because of the demographic- older folks need to watch for their sodium intake LOL. If you order green beans, you can season them and add butter that sits on the table, and that way they're fine. The Friday special - various combinations of fish and shrimp- have been consistently good and pretty big in size for one person. The last time, it was different - filets were so small, they looked like just scraps that fell off a large piece, plus add all the breading, you ended up with nothing but deep-fried breading. We complained to the waitress, and she said she was aware of that and assumed maybe they went with a different supplier. It was a few months ago, we haven't ordered fish since then. Hopefully they made a note and returned to their original fish dish sizes. The rest of menu is good and tasty (although I'd double check on spaghetti dish- ordered it once awhile back and it was bad, very thin and bland, tasted like a can of tomatoes were poured over noodles). Overall, the food is good and not expensive.

The tenders had a really solid crunch without being greasy, and the hot honey added the perfect sweet heat balance. The Meal 3 with 2 sliders and 2 tenders was probably the standout though. The Patty Melt Crunch slider and Sammy's Melt Burger both had that smashed burger flavor with crispy edges that hit perfectly. The "saucy" hot honey combo worked way better than expected, especially with the hand-cut fries and homemade ranch on the side. Even the fries stayed crispy the whole meal, which says a lot. Portion sizes were solid for the price, the food came out quick, and the whole meal had that fresh-made comfort food vibe instead of tasting overly fast-food style. Washed it all down with a Coke and honestly left full and satisfied. If you're in Winston-Salem and craving sliders, tenders, or late comfort food, Sammy's Sliders is definitely worth trying. Everyone at the front counter is always cheery and welcoming and the wait for food is never long maybe five minutes. everything is fresh made right when you order it. the sweet potato fries are absolutely delicious. It's a low-key casual spot that has a beautiful outdoor seating in the back. Beautiful as in, very simplistic tables and chairs, but in a cute little garden like area that has sun shining in and plants. it's a cute little feel. Now these burgers, are delicious. We've only gotten the Barcelona burger and not tried other options because that one is so freaking good. The single has even more flavor than the double somehow because on the single patty, you can taste all of the additions: the Barcelona sauce, the tomato, the lettuce, and all of the flavors just explode. Their meat is tender. It's a thin patty and it's just delicious. If you're looking for a good, simple burger that's packed with flavor and you aren't looking for a gigantic hunk of meat, This is your spot. You have to understand, that I am a total burger snob. As a reference point, my favorite burger in the Piedmont Triad is Hops Burger Bar in Greensboro, and I'll drive the 20 miles and stand around waiting on a table for 30 minutes, at the first suggestion, no questions asked. Also way up there is/was Big Burger Spot, but they've now slipped into third place since Guy is no longer the owner and overseer and now that I've had the burgers at Thunder Road. First off, they will cook your burger to your desired doneness. For me, that's the minimum standard that a burger joint has to meet, and my medium-rare burgers have been spot-on every time. From there, the buns, the topping, the sides have always been fresh, tasty and again, done to order to meet my picky requests! "Can I get those tots crispy?" "Since I haven't tried it, can you put that sauce on the side?" "Can you cook that bacon crispy but not burnt?" Each request was met with something like a "You bet!" and the execution of the request was perfect. I really like that each table is equipped with a roll of paper towels and several condiments including the local Texas Pete, as well as salt, pepper, and some form of seasoning salt. Often when I see these things on tables in diners they are grimy and the table beneath then is sticky and dirty, but they make an extra effort to keep them clean and well stocked. For example, last week I grabbed the red bottle of Heinz ketchup, expecting that I would need to request a swap with a full bottle, but no, it was totally full! Just like when I was a kid, I love crunchy potato chips on my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and I like fries with my ketchup! Let's face the facts that one of these days I'm bound to be disappointed in something, but from what I can see from the friendly and attentive staff, it's going to something I can overlook or that they'll be willing to address. Oh, that reminds me about the bathrooms! I often dread entering the men's room in a one-off diner or pub, but I was elated to find a clean and fresh smelling space that was well lit and well supplied. They've won us over. Last Saturday we bought three of our granddaughters, and today will be joined by my sister and brother-in-law, who are also locals and bound to become fans of Thunder Road Grill! As I re-read this before posting it, I wonder, why do I leave good reviews for places that I don't want to see become crowded and popular? Sometimes I question my sanity! Be sure to say howdy to me if we run into each other. And Fred B, I think you need to give them one more try.

I took one of the wooden booths that line the walls and say beneath the car, truck and racing paraphernalia that adorns the walls throughout. The service was fantastic given that I was the only one to care for. I ordered the BLT plate with tater tots and a hot dog. The BLT was served on a toasted bun. The bacon was thick and had just a slight chew to it. Just the right amount of mayo and tomatoes cut to a good thickness. Hot dog was pretty great. They put a real generous amount of mustard *under* the frank then topped with chili and a nice creamy slaw. If the bun had been toasted it would have been darn near perfect. Appreciated the self-serve seasoning salt at each table. Tots were good without but especially good with. Thunder Road Grill was worth the drive and I hope to return!
