The burgers are all made to order and if you haven't tried the Walleye when they have it you really should. It's amazing and they always have it around Lent. Today I got a kids meal but this time I tried the grilled cheese instead of a burger. I also got broccoli for my side. When you eat in, they give you the kids meal bag but put your food on the tray. Don't toss that bag though because there are two coupons you'll want to save on there. One is for a free scoop of custard and the other is a coupon you collect until you get 10 of them. They remind me of Chick Fil A. Everyone is friendly and attentive. They great you and say good y. You place your order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The burgers are a bit greasy but that's ok. They are smash type burgers that are seasoned perfectly and taste great. They also have chicken and fish sandwiches for the non beef peeps! The fries are crispy thick crinkle type. The dining room is very clean with plenty of seating in a cool warm laid back environment. Came back looking to try something new on the menu. I decided on a fish sandwich and a chocolate shake. The fish took a little while to cook, but at least I know it was fresh. While waiting, the shake came out. It came with the same consistency as a Frosty from Wendy's. Eventually it melted down enough to use a straw. The fish sandwich came on what I can describe as a mini hogie roll. The fish itself was shaped long and narrow, not a flat a flat patty. It was also well cooked and looked hand battered. I decided to try the seafood here - North Atlantic Cod (3 pieceswith Fries and Slaw) and Fried Jumbo Shrimp (10 shrimp with Onion Rings and Slaw). The shrimp were pretty good though some additional seasonings would help. The onion rings were narrow and there was little real onion to deal with. The cod was also pretty good but was also under seasoned, salt & pepper and hot sauce helped some. The fries were simply ridged The slaw was rich and creamy, helped to fill out the holes in the two entrees. The tartar sauce needs some serious reworking. A good number of food sites and "influencers" feel the seafood here is among the best of the national chains. I did not find it so, rather it was just ordinary! So it's not fine dining, but it's good fast food. I notice that most people go for the ice cream/frozen custard, which is honestly valid. It's delicious. But their burgers and even their cod sandwiches become something of a periodic craving after you've tried them. Been to the Culver's location on Fairlawn Drive, and it's one of my favorite fast-food stops. Plenty of parking and I've always found the lot and building exterior clean and well-kept. Inside the restaurant, there are plenty of seats if you're dining in and the interior has been clean during my visits. My favorite is their fish sandwich. Nice size piece of flaky north Atlantic cod with a golden brown crispy outer battered layer. McD's version can't hold a candle to Culver's. I also enjoy their double butter burger, which is a 2-layered smash burger. Regardless of what you end up with, you've got to have their custard desserts. OMG, the Salted Caramel Pumpkin Cement Mixer is to die for! I regretfully took off one star because the staff lacks enthusiasm like I find at any Chick-Fil-A. They take my order and deliver it to my table without issue, but with the facial expression of "Is it time to go home yet?" Total was $10 something which is reasonable. Got a number and found a table-the dining room was clean and had music playing. My food was delish! I came here for the first time with my whole family on a Sunday afternoon. I've heard about Culvers and was looking forward to trying the food. At first blush, this menu and layout of this restaurant reminds of another local chain. It's a modern take on a burger joint without being too much of a fast food place. We ordered and the girl taking the order was training. Both she and the guy training her were super nice. Ordering went flawlessly. There were five people in the party, but I didn't try everything. I ordered a bacon cheese burger and onion rings. The onion rings were really-really good. That's saying a lot for this to be a chain. They have a great flavor and were cooked well. The burger was alright. Not mind-blowing, but not bad. slightly above average. I did get the dad-tax on some fries and they were good as well. There were no complaints. Why not 5-stars? After much eager waiting for the lines to calm down enough so we could try Culver's we finally made it here! My husband showed amazing restraint by not buying any of their ice cream products because we had a house packed with sweets from our Yelp elite event at Cupcake cuties (which is amazing!) He didn't show any restraint at all with the savory menu though and bought pretty much everything. We got the icnoic butter burger, a deluxe burger, a mushroom and swiss burger, a sourdough patty melt, a spicy and regular chicken sandwich and pretzel bites with cheese sauce, fries, onion rings and cheese curds! Holy cow, it was a lot of food. After trying all of these items I hate to report that my feelings are pretty meh about most of it. The side items were the best thing in my book, the cheese curds were a unique thing and I appreciate something new, the onion rings were pretty exceptional for fast food onion rings, the fries looked pretty disappointing being pale crinkle cut fries but they were actually perfectly crisp and well seasoned. Pretzel bites don't do much for me in general but yep, it was a pretzel. The sandwiches, which is what this place is all about, is where they really disappointed. All of the burgers had a consistent them- bland and dry. They definitely did not season these on the grill and the smash burger style patty didn't work here, instead of crispy fried edges it was just bone dry. The deluxe burger, topped with lettuce and tomato and cheese was the one I stuck with because the moisture from the veggies was essential. The chicken sandwiches were just throw away items in my book- they're there for if someone in your party doesn't want a burger but they are really basic and the chicken was not particularly good quality. In the words of Joan Rivers: Can we talk?...about Culver's? Geez Louise, it was our first time here and it was fantastic. Not just the food, they also have excellent customer service. Hubs got the Butter Bacon Double Cheddar Burger with crinkle fries and drink. I built my own as a single with cheddar, SHREDDED lettuce, grilled onions, mayo and mustard. I also ordered a side of onion rings. The onion rings are flour battered so they are smooth and not mean to your mouth like panko breading. They were outstanding! The perfectly cooked onion ring has a clean bite. Meaning, you bite it and the onion doesn't pull out of the remaining breading. The crinkle fries were crisp on the outside and very soft on the inside. Delicious! The burgers had a great flavor with crispy edges. I will tell you this, the burger was so good, I regretted not getting a double. Live and learn. We also got a vanilla frozen custard in a cup and I got the "mini" frozen concrete of vanilla custard with Oreos. They were both SO good! Full disclosure...after the ice cream, I almost ordered the cheese curds. I didn't, but I REALLY wanted to. We will definitely be going back. They are building a new location in Kernersville and I can not wait! We drove by the location and so far only the foundation is poured. They need to get busy! Now, about the customer service: the young man that took our order was very accommodating. He was friendly, polite and funny, for both our meal order and then our custard order. The manager on duty was also head and shoulders above other restaurants. We witnessed him going to a table and apologizing. He said he knew the young man that took their order for a lettuce wrapped burger, but their lettuce was shredded. The customer was very nice and said it was no problem, she just didn't want the bun. Unfortunately, an entree was missing from our order (chicken strips) and my entree was incorrect. I asked multiple times for a chicken cashew salad with no cheese. At first it was rung up as a cheeseburger. I clarified that I wanted the chicken cashew salad with no cheese and reiterated the no cheese part. It was made with a lot of shredded cheese. Rather than asking for a new one, I picked out the pieces. Once the cheese was removed, the salad tasted great. I like the Culver's vinaigrette and the plentiful cashews. The ice cream was the star of our visit. They have variety of flavors and toppings, plus already packed take home pints. Twice now that I have been to Culver's the flavor of the day is Andes mint. Disappointed in my experience with Culver's. It was a late night and I was craving ice cream. Culver's was the only thing open and I've never been. They advertised the flavor of the day which was the double strawberry on a waffle cone. When I get there, I ordered exactly that. I was told at the drive thru window that they couldn't put it on the cone because it was melting. I didn't know how bad it was melted but I don't think if the frozen yogurt came out like this, it should have been served. This was not what I was expecting. Hmm - my 3rd trip to a Culver's - have managed to visit 3 different locations once each. This was a mediocre trip and the one opened 30 minutes from my house. Location is weird and you have to turn either through Sheetz parking lot or off of a weird left into another weird left. We did not eat inside as it was late and dark - but I was excited to try our local Culver's as I get why it has a cult following. Drive through experience just ok. Menu is disjointed and hard to figure out how to make a meal out of your sandwich. Prices weren't clear - things kind of all over the place. Kids meals are $6 - they don't automatically include the custard or even ask - went back in to get it since again the location is 30 minutes from house - daughter said it was the best ever. Had to repeat and re explain the order until they could get it right - either speaker doesn't work well or they aren't attention to detail. Good news is you can see the order as they enter it. Food took a while - they had me pull up and stick a number on your mirror - location isn't super busy all of the time yet. Location in Concord by IKEA is packed all the time. I am taking points off for lack of friendliness, slow and attention to detail. I am sure this location will get better as it hits its groove. Onion rings were spot on. Food here is good - solid 4 - think it will get to a 5. Employees are hard to come by - they have people working - Sheetz next door probably makes it hard for them to be super picky - a smile - maybe a how are you - a simple have a good night - anything besides seeming annoyed to take my money - give me my change and bring me my food. That part needs some work. I will be back - I know how good it can be - wish it was in a better location - weird choice to build one.
