Nothing like having lunch at Oby's. Well, I'm sure there's something like it but it's damn good that's for sure. Everything here is good. Big portion sized sauce cups (huge plus for us big dippers.) Tons of options, and food doesn't take too long to come out. It may seem like a basic option, but the chicken tenders are slap your mama!! I believe you can get them grilled too if you'd like but I prefer them fried-- some of the crispiest tenders around. Service is always very polite and quick. It is an order and sit type of situation where you pay and get a number. Fountain drinks come in a huge reusable cup that you can take home and get refilled! Lots of seating and booths are big enough to fit six people if needed. 10/10 go support local and try Oby's!! read more

The Po-Boys were delicious! I loved the waffle fries too. I'd say it's good size meal for a lunch but it didn't seem enough for a dinner for us. Good place for a dinner while in town. Decor is very Cajun/Louisiana and I think they own every Tabasco labeled item of kitsch located in a 150 mile radius. Ordering food can be difficult if you aren't familiar/don't find a menu in the entry line up area - you walk in and get in a line in a narrow corridor through which you can eventually see the wall menu but before that either you can't see the menu or there is a shelf with menus on it for you to look at. Line would have moved quicker if 2 of the 3 cashiers at the registers weren't taking time between each customer to check their phones. Man I hate that. We lucked out and worked with the 1 girl who was able to keep her phone stowed away like an actual professional. We each had the Cuban, which was good although it was done in a panini press and not in a plancha. Seafood gumbo and hush puppies were the sides which were good. I had a Coors Light which came out nice and cold. Overall good food and it was prepared and came out quickly, -1 overall for screwing around with cell phones checking Tik Tok or insta or God knows what. Hate that. read more

Years ago, I had their roast beef poboy. It was immediately my favorite. Unfortunately everything we have had there in the last several years has been lacking. Here are a few examples both the seafood gumbo and chicken and sausage gumbo, inexplicably had red bean in the bottom of the bowl. Speaking of red beans, my son order the red beans and rice platter, there May have been a single tablespoon of rice, and the red beans were so watery it could be call a thin soup. We kept giving it more chances hoping that we just hit it on bad nights. Nope, I could go on muffuletta, fried catfish, - the garlic bread they serve with a lot of the meals, you could wring out the oil. Sorry we will never eat there again. People who give high ratings must be thinking of how it used to be. read more

Even on non-game days the line can stretch outside the door. Routinely you will have a wait to order before finding your seat. Decor and menu are New Orleans themed. Po-Boys are great. I have tried the Shrimp & Catfish, both are excellent. Waffle Fries are top notch. For a little something different, try the Seafood Pasta as your side for a slight up charge. Well worth it. Red Beans and Rice with Sausage are really good as well. My daughter loves the Pimento Cheese Panini for vegetarian option. Not a huge roast beef fan so I skipped their classic sandwich. Everyone else in my group loved it. Chicken tenders are excellent!

They gave my food to someone else because they didn't know where it was going and instead of going back to the kitchen to check, they just gave it away. I had to go back to the counter to ask why it was taking so long and they said it was because I left my order number at the counter (which I was never given by the cashier). I got my food 20 minutes after the rest of my party finished their meal. Very disappointing. read more

The po boys come with mayonnaise, but they have a spicy mayo that works better. The gumbo wasn't the best. The sweet tea was great. We were in town for a funeral. Being from Chicago, it was refreshing to get real sweet tea. The service and hospitality was great. My only regret is that I don't foresee myself ever returning to Starkville, MS. This place is good but if I "had" to be picky, the really thin cheap Waffle House napkins would be the one thing I'd would nit pick about. - Food Menu has everything for everyone. Salads are good, platters a great deal and prices are reasonable. - Food consistency As many times as I've come, their very consistent with the food. Visited Starkville to visit my son (freshman at State). Took him here for his birthday and it was amazing. Live in metro Atlanta and it took us traveling 5.5 hours for the best sandwich ever (muffalata). Wife and son loved theirs too. Line was out the door but loved fast and well worth it. It had been a long time (10-12 years) since I had eaten here. We were in town for a couple of softball games at MSU and had a break in between games. We decided on Oby's and were satisfied. I ordered the seafood pasta salad with a side order of red beans and rice. It was more than enough and spot on. Jennifer had the Philly Cheese Steak, and it was delicious as well.
