My wife ordered us lunch on 9/25/22 in the drive thru. Once she got home with the food (25min ride) she realized that only half the order was in the bag and the other things that were in the bag were wrong. Both sweet teas were "unsweet" also. She drove back up there with the drinks, food and receipt. The girl at the front "Shalonda" told my wife that she was not gonna remake the food she had given us. She gave us the food that wasn't in the bag from the initial order but would not give us fresh food after it had been in the bag for the 25min ride home and then 25min back up there to retrieve the original order. With that being said, we were forced to eat food that had been sitting in the bag for roughly 1 1/2hr. Management at this dump should be terminated and morals should be instilled. Shockingly, McDonalds is better than this place bc they will actually take responsibility for making a mistake and do their best to make it right. Will not eat here ever again! read more

The worst BBQ ever! I asked if the regular BBQ had any spice to it and was told no. LIE! After one bite I could taste some heat. Afterwards I asked what the orange stuff on it was and was told, Texas Pete spice. I have never tasted anything worse. read more

I dont know whats wrong with Sumter but every franchise in this town just doesnt live up to its reputation. This cookout is better than most fast food dives in town but is also horribly inconsistent. Somedays ill get a great burger that keeps me coming back for more. But all too often they serve a horrible excuse for fries, burgers, and sweet tea! I got the chicken sandwich cheddar style. It wasn't put together all that well and if they meant nacho cheese instead of cheddar then they nailed it, that cheese was fun to dip my fries in. Which were waaay too salty. My husband got a hotdog with said nacho cheese all over it and bacon. He seemed pretty happy with it. The grilled onions on my sandwich were cold and kinda gross. I really love onions so it felt a little strange to be taking them off. I wish they had dipping sauces or something. Anyways, don't expect a healthy meal if you go here. Never been here before, tried the "big double" burger. It was a double, and a burger, not sure about the big part, I got to work, added cheese from my fridge to save the extra cheese cost, nuked it a few seconds, sat down and ate it and wrote this review in 15 minutes. It did taste like the kind of burger I would get if I bought frozen burger patty's and cooked them on a grill myself. One thing I thought was weird is that tomato's are a extra, not a normal topping. The box deal they have is good but I didn't get it, didn't want to eat a burger and two sides and a drink at lunch, but if you do it's a bargain. Edit: One more thing, the drive through here has two lanes, if you get in the left lane you go straight through, if you get in the right lane you come to a stop sign and then turn left to the other side of the building when no traffic is coming from the left lane. I love Cook Out. Great amount of food for a good price. The burgers don't taste like typical frozen fast food burgers. You can get a burger and choose two sides for 5 dollars and change. Among those sides: Corn dog, quesadilla (beef or chicken), 5pc chicken nuggets, fries, hushpuppies, onion rings, chili, etc. You can also customize your burger for an additonal .60 or so. My personal favorite is the cook out burger with slaw, chili, mustard. If you go around lunch, drive through is the best option. They stay packed from 12-1:30! read more

When this place first came to Sumter the drive-thru hung all the way to the main road! I finally decided a few months later after the crowd died down to try it. Im glad I did. I've heard good and bad things about Cookout, but my experiences were good. Prices are great if you're looking for cheap food. I love their onion rings. Cook Out is a new restaurant located on Broad Street across from Music Gator. It is a burger, hot dog, and bbq place. I hear that they cook using charcoal instead of a gas grill. I tried the hamburger, fries and shake. The burger really does taste like its fresh off a charcoal grill and it is cooked medium-well which preserves a nice, juicy taste. The fries are cajun seasoned and standard to what you would get at Wendys, Sonic, etc. They have a large variety of shakes and the shakes are the best in town. They use thick, rich ice cream in their shakes and you have to use a spoon because of the richness. The price is honestly the BEST in town..I ordered 2 of the burger combos w/ milkshakes and it was less than $10. The atmosphere is "woodsy" and it feels like a log cabin in there. Not new to Cook out because I lived In NC for several years. I took my kids there last weekend ages 9 and 8 and they both enjoyed it ; they both loved the milkshakes. My son and I were told about COOKOUT from a friend of his, who said the food was great and the prices were amazing for what you get blah blah....we ate there today and I have been sick ever since!!!! He was right the prices are cheap, but remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Not only that, the people taking the orders are PUSHING you through without letting you even decide what you want and the food was HORRIBLE. I had a cheese quesidila....it literally looked like someone had thrown up in my tortilla shell....bits and pieces smeared with a dab of cheese.....very disappointing to say the least.
