Downright rude to customers and a complete tyrant to his employees. I could never work for a guy who is so belittling and condescending. As for the ice cream? Delightfully Asian flavors that are not too sweet. Just the right balance between subtlety and indulgence. The price is a little high but in Richmond, there's little direct competition. You'd have to go to Steveston or Vancouver for something similar. The store itself is a small basic unit that's decently clean and does the job of selling ice cream nicely, but there is no seating available so everything is take out only. One thing is that it's right by 2 pharmacies and a liquor store which service some undesirables. My child was scared of the people hanging around and going into those places whilst we were eating our ice creams outside so decided to get back into the car and drive somewhere else to eat. All in all, I'll never return.

Loving that they update their menu regularly with new flavours. They operate as takeout only, so don't expect to eat inside. It does get small and lines can gather quickly. As of April 2026, they take credit cards with a 3% surcharge. Cash and debit is perferred!

Gosh, Sweet Surrender Gelato has really grown on me…read more You know sometimes you hit up a spot & you're not really sure how it will go or if this is the real deal!?! Well I can tell you that SSG grew on me over time as I tried a variety of flavours. I've enjoyed slurping on - Hazelnut, Pistachio, Espresso, Ruby Chocolate Raspberry & Blueberry Cheesecake to name just a few. Located in popular Steveston Village, it is a must stop at when you come here. SSG also sells delicious cookies & cheesecakes so keep an eye out. The staff are friendly & will let you sample a few flavours before you buy anything. I fell in love with gelato a few years ago after getting fed up with ice-cream. I must have had too many bad batches! After all I was getting older & my belly can only handle so many cups of Häagen-Dazs! Hee-hee! Don't get me wrong, I do love the gourmet type ice-cream spots in Metro Vancouver, & throughout summer I pop into Rain or Shine to get my fix. See my pix & review. What I love most about gelato is that I don't feel bloated like a Beluga whale afterwards. However, one of the common complaints is that the Gelato cups are too small & portion size is lacking. Please note that Gelato should be consumed as an after main meal dessert, kinda like a palate cleanser. Seriously, you're not meant to get stuffed up on Gelato! Make sure to walk over to the waterfront after getting your Gelato & head East or West for nice scenery - you won't be disappointed.

In the other flat, we found almost two boxes' worth of rotten strawberries, not including the many small strawberries mixed in. The rotten ones were hidden underneath the good-looking strawberries, so we couldn't see the issue when we bought them. The photo doesn't show all of the rotten strawberries because we had already thrown some away on the drive home while sorting through them. The amount we threw away could almost fill another box. We were pretty disappointed with the quality, especially considering how much we paid.

We paid $30 for a large container that we couldn't even fill up because there were barely any strawberries left and the ones remaining were mostly rotten. Of course this wasn't mentioned to us or else we wouldn't have paid $30 or wasted our time with two young kids. We tossed out half of the strawberries the next day. Wouldn't we get better quality strawberries for cheaper at a supermarket? What's the point of going to a farm? The staff at Emma Lea Farms were rude and uncaring. Upon leaving the farm I put the strawberries on a table for a quick photo with the tractor and one of the staff came with her spray to clean the table that I had the strawberries on and sprayed all over our strawberries. Our 1-year old was hungry so we wanted to feed her in the car before driving away but were told by staff that we had to leave the parking lot. We understood and decided to move the car to the street outside of the farm. The staff closing the parking lot told us that we weren't allowed to park on the PUBLIC street because that's their property. A quick Google search tells you that the street is no one's property and it's public. I emailed them to let them know but they never responded. Unless you want rotten strawberries or poor attitude I would stay away from this farm. This farm has by far been the worst farm I've ever been to. How could you go wrong with local strawberries??

Their product is HK-style French toast stuffed with mochi and a small selection of flavours. You can get a half (2 pieces) or full (4 pieces) order, and they come with a scoop of ice cream. The menu board said the half was only 1 flavour, but they were customers choose a different flavour for each piece; I chose taro and kaya. The taro had a stronger flavour than the kaya, but both were good. It was a creative and fun dessert with the contrasts of warm toast and cold ice cream, crunchy and fluffy bread filled with gooey mochi and lava-like filling. The half is $10 which sounds expensive, but it was really good and I honestly don't have regrets. Of course, if you have someone to share with, the full 4-piece flight is a better deal at $14. I think you could even share a half order if you both just want a smaller bite. No tax if you pay in cash. There were a few people waiting for their orders ahead of me, but the wait wasn't bad, and the people in the truck were friendly. Recommended.

The flavor I chose were Matcha, cinnamon sugar, hazelnut chocolate and ube. French toast was deep fried or really deeply cooked nicely. Inside, they had very chewy mochi with custard filling. They were very gooey, chewy, I really enjoyed the texture. Matcha filling was my favorite and it was very good to have it with ice cream. Actually, I liked cinnamon sugar which had non filling. That kept their crispy exterior. I really liked their mochi french toast, it was very delicious item. Highly recommend.
