Well finally got time to visit this really popular ice cream spot of Vancouver which is in Port Moody. It's always flooded with people especially on weekends but the service is pretty fast as there is ample staff to address your order while you are tasting many other flavours. The ambience is okay. Pricing and quantity and quality is nice and I guess that's why it's popular. I loved the blueberry cream cheese flavour a lot. I also tried plant based coconut which is also gluten free. Given that I was at Rocky Point Park, it was only fitting to try its ice cream! I was impressed by how fast they served a huge line during a hot day. I opted for the lemon yogurt and it was a good level of tart and sweetness with bits of lemon in it. I think it's possible that I'd gotten one of the less sweet flavours since my friends found theirs more sweet. While it will not be dethroning my top ice cream spots in the Lower Mainland, I still found it a very solid spot. read more

I don't have a sweet tooth and I'm not usually impressed by ice cream so I would give this a 3.5/5! While the ice cream was good, it was also very standard in my opinion. I got one of the seasonal flavors, matcha strawberry, in a waffle cone and it was sweet and cold (as ice cream should be). My main reason for trying this place out was that it is a local business, and I was visiting the park that it shares its name with. After walking on trails at Rocky Point Park, of course I must come here to eat the Rocky Point icecream. It was such a hot day on Sunday. The best was to eat icecream! A lot of people lined up outside the icecream shop when I got here. Luckily, the lineup was moving quickly that I could go in and order icecream. They had many different flavours. They even had one for dogs . They had been selling icecream since 1997. It was such a long time! Port Moody doesn't have a lot of unique icecream shops, so people who live in Port Moody, Coquitlam, or Port Coquitlam, or whoever visits Port Moody would eat the icecream here. Unlike Vanocuer, there are many icecream shops or options around. Overall, the quality was fine. They had enough staff to serve many customers quickly. They considered efficient already. Pricing was reasonable and affordable. However; it's hard to find parking at the Rocky Point Park parking lot. We parked further away (at Port Moody City Hall) and had a 25 min walk on trail. This iconic spot is a must if you're at Rocky Point (also one of the main reasons why I go to Rocky point). Situated at the head of the park, RPIC will always have a line on a sunny day. They have a great array of flavours with some specialties here and there. I'm a fan of the salted caramel, espresso flake, peanut butter chocolate, and their speciality sweet georgia brown (or any of their fun easter flavours). The Ice cream is in my top 3 in all of Van! My Grandparents after a few years immigrated from Belfast to New York in the late 1800s. They travelled up into Canada and all the way across to Nanaimo BC And started selling Ice cream there. My dad (the last of 8 children) was born in their house there in 1917. Sometime during the '20s they moved to Vancouver and had a little farm about 8 blocks East of Main St. & right on Prior St. right street across from Strathcona park (which was all bush back then with a small lake and they used to range their horses over there). Strathcona was an Italian neighbourhood at the time. My Grandfather continued to sell Ice cream out of a horse and buggy while in Vancouver, into the 1940s. My wife and I found the ice cream at Rocky's. In our humble opinion To be of very poor quality, We both got a 1 scoop cone. We tried a couple flavours each before choosing our cone. Service was quick and friendly. There's a list of the flavours posted outside otherwise, you can peruse the four displays inside. Believe there's about 40 flavours. They also serve cakes, blended drinks and coffee/tea. - Vegan mango and vegan lemon basil ($6.00 double scoop) - we added a waffle cone ($1.00). Mango and lemon basil both had a light, smooth, consistent texture. Flavours were well balanced. Lemon basil was delightful. - Honey lavender ($4.00 single scoop) - floral without being too overpowering. Honey adds a touch of sweetness. Delicious ice cream. The prices are better than gelato and the scoops are a decent size for what is available in Vancouver. The banana fudge is delicious. The Hokey Pokey, matcha, espresso, and chocolate peanut butter were all our favourites this trip around. It has limited seating and on a hot day it is hard to get a good place to sit near by, so I recommend taking the ice cream to the wharf and try spotting a seal or two. Service was great. Ice cream is good, not too sweet or creamy. The line is very long when there is a special event, so be prepared for a wait. After reading others' reviews that you can do 2 flavors for a scoop, I asked about that. I was told yes, it can be done. In the end, either the server misunderstood me or it was not possible. I was charged a 2-scoop ice cream. As it was just a dollar more for 2 scoop, I did not kick up a fuss or ask much as it was just too busy. They also charged $0.25 for a glass of tap water. I can understand if you charge non-customers for water, but when you already bought ice cream and asked for water, I didn't expect that. Sometimes you just want water to cleanse the palate. It was a hot summer day and Rocky Point Ice Cream had a huge line up but it was worth the wait. I've seen their food truck around but have never been to the actual store before. They have a great selection of flavours and pricing is good. I tried Raspberries and Cream, Earl Grey and Honey, Espresso Flake, Salted Caramel and a fruity mojito flavour. The salted caramel was definitely very salty which is perfect for me. This was my third time heading to Rocky Point Park but only the second time knowing about them having a dog friendly ice cream! I drove from Vancouver on Labour Day and not realizing how hectic the line up would be. Me and my wife realized that it would be best coming on a different day so we headed back to the ice cream store on Wednesday evening around 7:45pm. The line up was minimal and a few dogs showed up. Our puppy was pretty excited since he could smell all the flavours of goodness in the store. I ordered salted caramel and my wife got matcha green tea. Of course our little puppy got a treat of a doggie ice cream for only $3 including a cone ! The price was cheap as altogether I paid about $11 and gave them a tip. I'd recommend coming here if you're craving ice cream and if you have any dogs you'll be extremely pleased to know that they do allow dogs to come in as long as they're on a leash. There is nothing fancy about Rocky Point, you won't find exclusive mixings or flavours that you cannot pronounce. Rather, the icecream here focus on a good old balance of creaminess versus the icecrystals.... it never feels like it's waterway. The cream and flavouring used must be of high quality as when I eat it every time the aroma comes through with depth and lingers in my mouth. On a hot summer day it's always packed and sometimes the line up it out the door. The salted caramel is my usual but this time I went with strawberry and cracker Jack popcorn flavours.
