Service: Exceptional Taste: 4/5 Consistency: 2/5 I've been enjoying Earnest since the beginning of their journey, and while I love their ice cream, I find the texture of their take-home pints to be inconsistent. I'm aware of storing ice cream at a consistent temperature to prevent issues, but the pints often end up with a texture that's overwhipped and too airy, which brings my score down significantly. I recommend buying scoops in-store and avoiding the pints if you're particular about enjoying the texture you experience in their shops. The pints feel like a very different product compared to the in-store experience. read more

Iondon fog is like earl grey flavor and it was delicious. they also have seasonal flavors. great service. small section of seating inside the store read more

What an amazing experience. I came for an ice cream after a diner and I was surprise by this place. Small local business, with a beautiful decoration and great ice cream options. I chose the raspberry and chocolate vegan option and it was tasty. It was so refreshing after a warm day and it was so yummy. I believe their vegan option was made by coconut milk, it makes the flavour even better. They have an amazing customer service. They were so professional and so friendly, it makes your experience even better. I hope you will have a great experience and love their ice cream. It worth!!!! Cheers read more

Excellent premium ice cream parlour ice cream here and 2 other locations. They have exceptional quality product but the service, depending upon who you get may be hit and miss. $7.50 for double scoop come! Creative flavours with fresh ingredients that you may sample before ordering Pro tip avoid the bigger Asian girl at this location as we get less ice cream when ordering from her as she does not maintain proper serving controls and scoops smaller portions than standard. This was observed on several occasions. She didn't allow the lineup crowd to move forward as she wanted tips at her terminal closest to the front of the line which was awkward for the line up read more

This Earnest ice cream is located on an industrial road, and it's on the worst bumpy road - drive slowly. I love that this location is not in as busy an area and makes parking easy, but it still gets crazy busy in the summer! The location has no seating, but everyone just hangs out on the sidewalk enjoying their delicious ice cream. Their flavours are solid, but salted caramel, London fog, and the seasonal almond croissant are my favourite flavours. If you've never been, go check out one of their many locations! read more

Dropped by and enjoyed a BOGO ice cream sandwich. Was introduced to Earnest when I moved to the west coast. Initially not a fan of ice creams, but always enjoyed their unique flavours and selections. Wish they had more ice cream sandwich flavours, but only had this and the vegan option available at the time of my visit. having earnest ice cream before dinner on saturday around 7:00 pm felt like a sweet start to what feels like an early spring. despite a bit of a lineup, the queue moved quickly. i was treated to a double scoop on a waffle cone, opting for the carrot cake flavour, a blend of house made spiced carrot cake and decadent cream cheese fudge swirled into lightly spiced ice cream, capturing textures and the essence of a classic dessert in frozen form. and to top it all off, i couldn't resist indulging in the cold brew coffee flavour, as my second scoop, a velvety concoction infused with house of funk coffee, steeped for days to achieve that perfect cold brew flavour. it was like sipping on a refreshing iced coffee. read more

Easily one of the better ice creameries in Vancouver! This was my first time visiting this location but the experiences are all the same - great staff and great service! It's a nice clean interior with a great selection of ice creams (pints, cones, cups and sandwiches available). The only downside is there is no seating to enjoy the ice cream there or to have a chit chat with a friend so we decided to indulge in our sandwiches in the car. There is some street parking available just be mindful of whatever the signs say (in case some are for permit only). The ice cream sandwich itself was okay - I thought the base would be more "cookie"/brownie like but tasted more cakey and doughy. Still good but just messy as you ate along. One of my favourite ice cream places in Vancouver - Earnest Ice Cream! This is one of their smaller locations with only room for take out and no where to sit. However because of that, the lineup was pretty short even on a beautiful sunny day. I love all their classic flavours with my go to being whiskey hazelnut, London fog, and salted caramel. Highly recommend for local artisan ice cream! read more

Earnest is hands-down the best ice cream shop in the entire Vancouver area. They have several locations but this one tends to be the one with the shortest wait. Street parking here is also a lot more abundant than the other locations. On top of their classical flavors, Earnest also makes monthly flavors, which are always worth a try. My favorite is their vanilla ice cream sandwich for $7.50 CAD. The two skins are so soft and thick that they melt in your mouth. The vanilla is also perfectly churned with the right consistency and sweetness. The other flavor I highly recommend tasting is their Whiskey Hazelnut. read more

During this entire covid 19 situation they've closed all their locations except for this one. You just have to order online (minimum $30) and pick up at this location. Once their online order slots fills up, you just have to wait until the next Tuesday at 10am to try and order again. Earnest is my favourite ice cream parlour and Whiskey and Hazelnut has always been my favourite go to flavour and always will be :) Before lockdown, I normally get my icecream pint from False Creek, but anything truly good is worth the time and effort to get, if you can imo. read more

We got a lot of pints during Covid 19 and one of the favourites has been lemon poppyseed. Very creamy with a hint of lemon. Also a fan of their carrot cake, apple pie and rhubarb oat crumble. Ice cream sandwiches are an expensive but delicious treat here. My family loved the lemon sandwich, I enjoyed their carrot cake and the tiramisu had a delicious ice cream base. One of the most memorable places I tried in my quick trip to Vancouver. A lot of ice cream shops offer boozy flavors, but the texture changes very quickly after serving and typically loses its creaminess and smoothness. I think Earnest has the boozy proportion just right. Enough that it lives up to the booze in the name but not too much to mess with the ice cream's freezing point and keeping its creamy and smooth texture. The waffle cone is excellent too and the staff was super kind and helpful. Tasting limit is 3 flavors. read more

One line review: a premium ice cream experience. We met friends at this little spot, which frankly isn't much to look at. But as the old saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. Inside were many delights. The ice cream here isn't cheap, but it is special. I don't say that lightly. I love ice cream and worked in an ice cream parlor for 3 years as a youth. This is artisan ice cream crafted with special care and unusual flavor combinations. Our crew of four tried many flavors, but by far, my favorite was the Whiskey Hazelnut. Our host told us that it was not to be missed, and she was right -- creamy, not too sweet, and the flavors of both the whiskey and the hazelnut were prominent in pleasing proportions. Our server was perhaps the greatest ice cream server of all time. She was hospitable, knowledgeable, and had a quirky, humorous charm. She really contributed to what was a great experience. Parking was free on the street and not hard to find at night. Bottom line: We will go back here for a treat. read more

It has been a hot end of summer and because of this I must go searching for places that serve sweet cold treats as the nomnomnivore is craving for great delights, and Earnest has always delivered.... to the point there are lineups at the usual Fraser street one we go to.. almost every night, most likely due to the hot weather, but also because they serve some real kick-ass ice cream. So knowing they had a new location you know you will get good product, what some might not know is that this one... for the time being... serves up ice cream sandwiches as well!... yes, a big slab of formed ice cream wedged between two nice pieces of cakey dark layers. These are only available Saturday, and who knows how long this will continue, but after going around town trying others who make this treat, I have to say this one is my favorite. The size is not small, it is definitely more than a hand full (like big). They this is pretty, no really, like non-hollow amounts of ice cream, I think it is about two scoops worth, anyways this will stuff you if you are eating it alone. This location is a lot smaller than the Fraser one, and oddly not as busy, maybe due to location, but I bet when people start finding out about this one.. and knowing it is close to the breweries... you will have ice cream and beer runs daily. They carry the same stuff and they have that Earnest feel and at the same time this place, not just in location, is different, maybe because it is small and barely has any seating, let alone standing room if this place were to be full, but feels right, as a place you come in, pick up what you want, and go to your next destination. The sandwich we had as a strawberry swirl, and I hope they continue this and make more of their awesome flavors in sandwich form, but now I also know I don't have to venture too far to get Earnest stuff. read more

I was uncertain of what to order, so I went with the classic chocolate flavor: Serious Chocolate. It was delightful! It was veryyyy chocolatey, a rich brownie flavor. The ice cream was thick and not immediately all melty. This place is very vegan friendly, too, with many flavors available. It is also eco-friendly, which I very much appreciate. All in all, a very wonderful chocolate ice cream. Accessibility: This location was generally accessible. There is no parking and no where to sit down except for a wooden bench outside. The bench is wide and long though. The parking should be decent at night (at least it was ample when we were there). There is plenty of space inside at this location to get through, order, and leave. They do have a washroom though I did not check if it is accessible. It looked to be though. There was tons of lighting. Noise could be an issue given the space, but it wasn't when we were there. The menu could be difficult to see on the back wall written by hand on chalkboard. The side wall has many of the same flavors printed boldly in black and white sans-serif typeface. read more

Disappointed! They didn't have the strawberry balsamic ice cream or anything similar that they used to have. They also aren't serving their ice creams in cones due to COVID (note: Rain or Shine is still serving up their ice creams into their waffle cones). Rather, they with serve you a single scoop in a small disposable cup, and give you a cone on the side (I don't really understand how that is more sanitary nor environmentally friendly nor convenient). I ended up getting the strawberry ice cream sammy and was disappointed then, as well. It was prepackaged in a clear plastic wrap. The vegan strawberry ice cream was creamy and pretty yummy, but the lemon sponge cake that it was sandwiched between was pale, soggy, and distracted from the delicious ice cream. Also, it was $7.50. I will stick with my tried and true, Rain or Shine, but that is my personal preference. read more

Came here twice in less than 48 hours. I'm just visiting Vancouver but luckily my AirBnb was close by. Also maybe it's good that I'm just visiting here because otherwise, I'd spend allllll my money on this delicious ice cream! So creamy. I had a cone the first time and then an ice cream sandwich (made in house with cake!) the second. The people who work there are really nice and fun. It's the dog days of summer in Vancouver and the one sure thing that you're bound to see is lineups outside Earnest Ice Cream. That is, unless you check out their newest location in the Grandview area of Vancouver. Located in a semi-industrial area in East Vancouver and near Woodland Park, their Frances St. outlet is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. We dropped by in the end of July and were surprised that there wasn't even a hint of a lineup. Most likely, news of their new location hadn't gotten around yet. We picked up a Mint Chip (made with peppermint oil distilled in Oregon and organic dark chocolate chips) and a Cookies and Cream (made with organic, non-GMO cookies and a touch of vanilla). With their quality ingredients and interesting flavours, this is one summer treat that won't make you feel too guilty for indulging. Make sure you check out their new location before everyone else finds out about it. read more

Earnest Ice Cream is hands down, the BEST tasting ice cream in Vancouver (we are so lucky). Their ice cream is always made to perfection - unbelievably smooth and creamy (NO icy bits!!), perfectly (not too) sweet, and they are incredibly generous with the solid bits in any flavour (eg SO many cookie bits in cookies and cream). Their sundaes are amazing. Their seasonal flavours are always very fittingly delicious. I love the service at the Frances St location - they're so cheery and welcoming. Thank you, Earnest! It's super tiny, with basically no seating inside. Go in, get your ice cream, and then go outside. Great when it's a beautiful and sunny summer. I wonder how it'll go during the rainy season. But the main reason for the five stars was the limited edition ice cream sandwich. It was the best I've ever had. As traditional an ice cream sandwich could be. Two thin layers of black cookie, reminiscent of chocolate cake and fudge brownies, wrapped around a solid chunk of delicious, fresh ice cream. So good. The flavor, the sweetness, still echoing in the memories of my taste buds. They only served it for a special fundraiser so I don't know when it would be available again. If it does come out again, you owe it to yourself to try it. read more

Their ice cream is always smooth and rich! I have tried their cookies n creme as well as the season limited lemon tart! You can really taste the tang from the lemon flavour in the ice cream. There are chunks of tart in there tBy the way, you get to sample any of their ice cream flavours!! I just love the ambiance at this shop as it's clean inside. We tried the ice cream sandwich, the creme brulee cup, and the s'mores bar. I would say everything was good, but probably not something we would get again. After a while it just got a little too sweet and the portion was a little big so we didn't finish most of it. The next time I go if I ever go again I would just get one thing and share it because a bite or two is probably all you need to satisfy your sweet craving.

The carrot cake pieces were moist and plenty and really made it decadent; tasted exactly like a good ol' spiced cake! While I did find the mini eggs flavour a tad on the sweet end, I could still appreciate the creamy base. Will be back to try more flavours

The first thing that stood out was the airy and fluffy texture, almost lighter than traditional soft serve. The dark chocolate brought a mild cocoa note, while the cereal added a crunchy, slightly nostalgic contrast at the base. That said, I expected the vanilla to have more of a rich, milky flavor. This is not the place for plain vanilla; it's the combinations (think honeycomb, matcha, or seasonal specials) that bring the experience to life. Based on the shop's concept, Soft Peaks is known for using local organic milk and keeping sweetness restrained, which tracks with that lighter, less sugary profile. When getting the matcha ice cream, I suggest getting straight matcha instead of the twist with vanilla because the vanilla washes out the matcha; it comes through better on its own. The sundaes are fun and a good, more affordable alternative to the similar parfaits at high end matcha cafes. I tried the tuna egg salad crepe and thought it was actually really good! The crepe was fresh and tender, there was a healthy amount of filling, and the tuna salad was actually mostly tuna with just enough mayo to hold it together which is how I prefer it. Again, the service is just through a window - you actually order at an electronic kiosk and the only interaction with a person is when your order is ready. There are two small tables outside if you want to eat there. During the busy summer season, it's very difficult to actually secure one of these tables, but there's other seating on the pedestrian streets just a few blocks away on Robson.

Each patron can have two tastes, and they have some wonderful flavor options (I almost couldn't choose). Seating wise inside there are three tables and a three seat bar, and outside they have an uncovered parklet. Overall, I loved their flavors and I absolutely wish they existed in California!

There's usually 10 to 12 flavours to choose from; always something unique and interesting. They also have sundaes, ice cream sandwiches and doughnuts on the menu. - Mango raspberry swirl and London fog ($7.00 double) - waffle cone is included and it was better than expected. The ice cream itself tastes a bit denser but still has a creamy satisfying texture. The London fog was fantastic! The mango raspberry was more mango than raspberry but also quite good. - London fog ($5.00 single) - came back on a Monday and they only had four flavours that day. We went with the London fog; just as good as the last time. - Dark chocolate and black sesame with honey ($7.00 double) - the dark chocolate tasted like a fudgesicle but better. Not too sweet and hefty; it was so heavy it almost fell off the cone! The black sesame was delicious. Not quite like the ones we had in Japan but tasty and flavourful. I'll be back again and again! Love the laid back, no frills vibe at Rooster's. One of our favourite ice cream spots!

If it was full, I may be a bit claustrophobic but I think it's fine if there's some room. Overall, highly recommend for a latte or a sweet treat. Good for a date, coworking (especially in their next door "Archive" space), catching up with friends AND discovering coffee from around the world. I came for the donuts, Vietnamese subs/tortas and the fried chicken. They do catering, we have been ordering their fried chicken with rice + donuts for our group of 100 people. We pick up as they don't deliver. Their fried chicken is Fritou and they originate from Quebec in the late 90's. Duffin's is the only place that served Fritou fried chicken and they are really good. I always order the 3 pieces (1 wing, 1 drum & 1 thigh with fries or rice) for $9.39. You can ask for a mix of spicy or original but think the spicy is better and not too hot. I usually can't finish and take the rest home. Open 24 hours and considered the best deal in town for the portion of food you get. The decor is not fancy more like a hole-in-the-wall but that is what I love about it! They are here to impress you with the food and not the decor. The colourful orange and green bench seatings were originally from their shop on Main and 33rd so I love seeing them as it's reminded me of their good old days when you see motorcycles mixed with Mercedes cars in their parking lot.

Our server suggested that, because it was happy hour, a pitcher would be cheaper and save us money. I specifically asked how many ounces the pitcher was and was told 32 oz, which sounded reasonable since we planned to get 15 oz beers. When the pitcher arrived, it was clearly 64 oz. The server apologized for the mistake, and I let it go, thinking we didn't have to drink it all. However, when the bill arrived, the price didn't match the quote. We were charged $25, not the $20 we were originally told when the 64-oz pitcher showed up, with the explanation that the regular price was $35 and that we had "saved" money. In the end, we were served twice the beer we wanted and paid twice what we intended, based on information that kept changing. Whether this was incompetence or intentional, it left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. The food and atmosphere really were great -- but the experience was overshadowed by feeling manipulated. Enjoy the food and beer, but pay close attention to what the wait staff tells you and what ends up on the bill.
