I'm not in the North Shore often, but when I am around Lonsdale, I always pop into Earnest Ice Cream. We popped over after dinner a few nights ago and service was super speedy and friendly. I got to sample two flavours they have right now, Canoli and Toasted Marshmallow and the latter was my choice. SO delicious. I find Earnest Ice Cream to be so creamy and love their interesting flavours. The space at this location is bright. It's not as spacious as their Olympic Village location (and I can't recall compared to Fraser St or East Van). If you're in the neighbourhood, definitely stop by. If you want to grab a pint or ice cream sandwich, you can go to the shorter queue! read more

Our family visited on a Monday afternoon around 2:30 pm. There were 16 ice cream flavors. Each flavor is written on a clipboard and pinned to the huge wall behind the counter. The staff are friendly and helpful. We sampled two flavors and ordered three scoops with our waffle cone: chocolate, cookies and cream, and vegan blueberries and cream. We got one scoop of Cookies n Cream in a cup, one scoop of Salted Caramel in a cup, and one scoop of London Fog in a cup. Wow...the serving size is very generous here. Wow! This place knows whats up! My partner and I were staying in North Vancouver for a little over a week for immigration processing and we ended up enjoying ice cream at Earnest Ice Cream every single day. I have always been a fan of Earnest Ice Cream. This is the first time for me trying this location. I usually go to the Vancouver locations. Anyways. I came here with a few friends. I got the London Fog and Lavender shortcake. London Fog has always been my go to when I come to Earnest. B ordered Raspberry and Whisky Hazelnut. This was B first time having Earnest and he said he loved it as well. He is sure that they used Crown Royal in their Whisky Hazelnut ice cream. We also came with or other friend H. H lives nearby and I have to say she is very lucky to be close to Earnest Ice Cream. This is also her favorite ice cream place. I visited Earnest Ice Cream on a whim when strolling around Vancouver. I knew I wanted some ice cream and this showed up right on Google maps without having to input any information so I took that as a sign. There was a small line when I arrived but it went really fast. All of their flavors are listed outside on the window and they have a cute traffic light that will turn green when they're ready for you inside. The cashier helping me was extremely friendly! I asked her what the "sweet corn blueberry" was like because I love blueberry and was curious and she helped explain it to me. She also said, after scooping it for me, that if I didn't like it I could let her know and she'd get me a different one (they aren't doing samples due to COVID). But, thankfully that wasn't necessary because the sweet corn blueberry was amazing!! I didn't expect to like it as much as I did but I would absolutely get it again. I'm also usually a "bowl not a cone" kind of girl but you HAVE to get the cone they're so good!! And they pack the ice cream all the way to the bottom which is awesome. It has become a yearly ritual to come to this location for sushi and ice cream with my family and everytime, I get a delicious treat of Earnest's fall flavours. The two that caught my eye were chocolate hazelnut brownie and sticky toffee pudding and after trying both, those luscious bites of brownie stole my heart right away. I got a kid scoop on a cone and asked for extra chunks (which they were happy to give) and it ended up being a few too many but it was nice of them to be accommodating! The lineup was long on a Friday evening. Only three staff took care of the orders collecting money, letting customers try the flavours (before choosing what they wanted to eat and order), scooping the icecream and serving the customers. The whole process was very slow, so each customer was waiting in line for a long time. Not a good experience already. We tried different flavours from different branches and even bought a lot of Earnest Icecream home, so we decided to order something special. We ordered a caramel walnut sundae. Unfortunately, the sundae was soaked in an extremely sweet caramel/walnut sauce. When we had a first bite, we were eating 100x sugar in our mouth! The sauce of the sundae was so much that it was very watery like soup. We only had a few bites and just left the store. Very disappointed at this sundae. Funky decor, changing flavors with some kind of cute signage, open concept floor plan, and flavors that you're not used to seeing. London Fog. Matcha green tea. Whiskey hazelnut. There are old reliables in there too, but they also have a rotation of flavors with titles like "33 Acres of Malt" and "Red Currant Ripple." Yes, that rotating menu goes flavor crazy. Rhubarb oat crumble, sour cherry goat cheese, elderflower, blackberry coriander--this is the new school creamery, complete with inspirational sayings on the wall that are perfect for that photo to send out in your story. I'm a peanut butter guy, so peanut butter chocolate chip was the order of the day. Remember, my fellow down-southians, that Canada doesn't go crazy with the peanut butter flavor, so it's a much more mild version and the subtleness is sweet and appreciated. The texture of the cream itself should--and was--the real star here, anyways. We sat inside. I had it from a cup, but you can get a cone. They're not all about that monstrosity shake/sundae life (that would be another off-breed kind of creamery, IMO) so you can just come get a scoop for funsies and flavor. I fancy myself a homemade ice cream kind of guy. I somehow own 6 or 7 machines.. and counting, and although I'm not the best around (I once had someone give me a sample of their own concoctions and I realized how minor league I am) I do give up props where they are due. Probably the most spacious of all of three Earnest locations I've been to with great photo-worthy interior and a "Be Earnest" wall with small steps in front of the signage too, so it's definitely a spot for a photo-op (cause I did one!) There's not a lot of people working there but the place can definitely get busy depending on the weather and the flow because there was no one when I went in but right after I got my order, the place was filled within minutes! Seriously, what's there not to like about Earnest Ice Cream. I love the Whiskey Hazelnut since it comes with a lot of nuts and crunch. It can taste slightly bitter because of the whiskey. Also sampled the Espresso flake in which there is a really strong coffee taste! Would definitely love to be back to try that flavour! Definitely think this would be a great place to stop by while on a Lonsdale date. We stopped by for their hot chocolate festival drinks. Service was great as they were able to tell me what options I could have for my nut allergy. The "Orange you Glad it's Hot Chocolate" drink I got was fantastic, and the pastry pairing was equally as good. It's described as: Salty pretzels and sweet caramel, topped with whipped cream and more pretzels. Paired with a house-made Blondie Bar. They serve it in those cups that they use for water. If you get it to go, it's in a cup that's about the same size. Definitely a little pricey at $8. I didn't want a Blondie Bar so they kindly substituted it with a mini ice cream scoop of my choice. Whiskey Hazelnut was my choice. I appreciated the accomodation. Overall, it was tasty but very, very sweet after the added chocolate and caramel syrups.
