Veggie Breakfast Burrito with avocado! Yum

Cooks is such a cool mountain restaurant high up off the 88. Today i stopped by for breakfast before going fishing for the day! Its a Mountain vibe spot that has a home-cooked menu! I had the veggie breakfast burrito and it was awesome! With a side of Bacon, of course! It was wrapped perfectly and i was able to take my leftovers for a snack later! Definitely recommend adding this to your stop. You can even get your burrito to go. Great service, perfect mountain atmosphere and yummy home style food!

This place is absolutely outstanding! My most favorite place when we are in the area. We get the biscuits & gravy combo, trio French toast & choco chip pancakes. Not to mention, their mimosas are a very generous pour! MUCH better than Gibson's! P.S. the fire place during the winter months is amazing.

The fries were crispy, but overly salted. The sandwich was very tasty. Good mountain water! Had to move outside to get away from the screaming out of control children!

Scrambled egg, cheese, hash brown and a burger. Yum!

Heading down the 88 on our way to this week's auto races in Merced. The Al Miller memorial. We honestly just needed a pit stop. Ahead on the left, it's Cook's Station. Smack dab in the middle of logging central. They have a restroom alright. It's for customers only and it's outside. They also have rustic picnic tables and a shaded seating area. The view is breath taking. The air is clean and clear. At this point we would've accepted mediocre food. Far from it. I had the basic quarter pound burger with all the fixins' called a Connie. A side of rings and a big iced tea. Exactly half of that accompanied us to the hotel. Huge! Not to mention it was one of the best burgers I've had in years. So good we stopped on the way back home. Unfortunately, the burgers start at noon. We returned at 10am. They must have received a ton of complaints because they've introduced a breakfast burger with egg, cheese and hash browns on a hamburger bun. They also make great French toast! The women are most pleasant and the inside is cozy and warm. Parking is extremely limited but they don't seem very busy. All in all, a great little find that we'll be revisiting, soon! 04/21

Wow. I really wasn't expecting much from this place as I've passed it on my way to Tahoe and maybe only stopped in a few times for drinks to enjoy on the road. My Brother In Law recommended this place for a bite to eat. Why not? He likes to eat good food so we stopped in. There were only a few people in dining so we had our drink order taken right away. Waters already on the table before you could blink. Then I ordered, Breakfast avocado burrito with egg whites (waitress didn't even bar an eyelash when I started making changes to the original menu item), no cheese, no sour cream. This also came with fresh avocado, green peppers, onions and canned mushrooms. Fresh would have been good, but I can see how it makes more sense to use canned. There was salsa served on the side and honestly... this was a damn good burrito. My Hubby has the roast beef sandwich with everything but mayo. He said his fries were crisp and the sandwich was gone in a matter of minutes. There is a lot of history in this spot and I'm glad we dropped in. Never judge a book by its cover.

Had a great breakfast this am. It was cold & snowing and a hot breakfast hit the spot. Super friendly & I had the sausage, onion, and pepper omelet. A great place to stop before heading up the mountain!

It's early Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2021, and my friend and I have arrived at Cook's Station, located east of Pioneer, CA, for lunch.

You order up front before taking a seat and there is a good selection of sandwiches for lunch as well as coffee and freshly-baked goods. We missed the window for breakfast but they also serve made-to-order breakfast dishes. My husband and I just wanted a smaller meal for lunch that day, so we settled on the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo. While the portion sizes are on the smaller side, they were balanced and filling for what we wanted (as well as very reasonably priced), and we ended our meal with an in-house baked oatmeal raisin cookie. The cookie was huge and packed with oats but still delicious, with the proper texture and not overly sweet. Our sandwiches were simple yet delicious, with fresh ingredients and bread. The clam chowder was the soup of the day and so so good, I love when clam chowder has potatoes with the skin still attached. Our food also arrived pretty quickly, I would say within 10 minutes of ordering. Water is self-serve. We did not get a chance to try their coffee or the quiche that they're known for, but we will return to Sina's for sure and definitely recommend this cute little cafe for anyone looking for a quick, cozy meal in Sutter Creek!

It is family owned which is something I always try and support when traveling. You order at the counter before sitting down. You could always just order to go. We stayed and ate at the restaurant at a table with a view of Main Street. We ordered the Motherlode breakfast dish and the French toast. The Motherlode is a Homemade Biscuit, Country Potatoes, Gravy, Sunnyside Egg & Bacon Bits. It had a great smoky flavor and I always enjoy a homemade style biscuit. The French toast was served with a side of potatoes. It was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. My only regret is that we didn't grab a few cookies for the road home that looked so good. We will definitely be back when we visit again.

Comes with cheese bacon and a sunny side up fried egg on top. If you want a different style cooked egg, eg hard cooked you have to ask. I got smashed red potatoes as my side, also delicious. I opted for water, it's "strawberry" water so has the essence of strawberries. The large pitcher which they serve from has big ripe strawberries. What a refreshing treat instead of plain or lemon water. My mom and I had a very nice breakfast, again the customer service was excellent and the woman owner chatted with us, was quite friendly and personable. Again she was just a delight. The espresso machine was out, which wasn't a huge deal since drip coffee was available, but the coffee itself was honestly pretty bad. It also didn't help that we were told the flavored syrup drinks were basically the same as their espresso specialty drinks, but it tasted like water down drip coffee. I ordered the French toast plate and my partner got the biscuits and gravy. The bacon seemed undercooked, the pancakes were dry, the biscuits and gravy were burnt, and the gravy itself was runny. Overall, for a meal that ended up being over $50 with tip, we were really disappointed with the quality.

The first come first serve sites were almost all empty Sunday-Wednesday mid July when I visited. The creek is beautiful and there are lots of good swimming spots. We stayed with friends in a group site and several single nearby sites. There was plenty of space and fallen trees and meadows for our kids to explore! The bad: Idk why but checkout and checkin are both at 2pm, so the sites aren't being cleaned fully between uses. There was a bit of trash at ours and we almost overlapped with the group there before us. The dumpsters were full the entire time we were there. So many yellow jackets and mosquitos, but that's summer in California near the water for you. The worst, there were several bears that made the rounds scavenging every night. We heard them sniffing around tents, banging around coolers, and people generally letting off foghorns and screaming and dogs barking all night long. The campsite is not equipped for bears. The hosts are doing their best, but this is their first summer with this problem, and they aren't receiving support from fish and wildlife. There are no bear boxes at the campsites and very little signage anywhere alerting people to store all their containers and food out of reach at night. People are also not helping. We talked to one family with their food out and said to pack it up as there were bears out the night before. They said they had been coming to the campground for years and never seen a bear. They didn't pack up their food at night and the bears got it all, and they had to leave the next day. The stupidity was astounding. Overall, I would recommend it except for the bears! Hopefully the government steps up to give the host more support before something serious happens!
