They have nearly everything you need. This is always my go to hardware store and I love that I rarely have to go to chain hardware stores. The staff wears masks, is friendly and offers help in a non pushy way. There is a plexiglass shield and hand sanitizer at the cash register, the same place they cut keys. I am constantly surprised at the vast array of products they manage to stock. Check it out ! Love this mom & pop style hardware shop adding to the charm on Main St at the Manchester road race starting line. This place is significantly larger than it appears from the front with parking and entrances on main st. and out back. The selection of products is far more than I've expected and ranges from paint to key cutting to lawn care tsalt to any kind of hardware you need. I always hit this place up when I can and can usually avoid home depot and Lowe's. Prices are very comparable too. Love supporting a local business when I can. :) read more

I have been shopping at Manchester Hardware as a home owner for the last 2 years or so. I try to split my hardware store shopping evenly between them Hardys and Conyers to help all local business. I am a strong proponent of small local buisness. However Manchester Hardware reminded me recently that not all local business's are still created equal. They will no longer be in my rotation of places to shop. I went in recently seeking small donations for a project our elementary school pta is doing and the owner flat out told us NO and turned us out the door before even hearing what we were looking for. I understand in todays day in age its hard to thrive as a small business against the big box stores but they could have at least taken our letter and politely said, we'll see what we can do. Or even better said, well business is tough but would a watering can or maybe a rake help you out? We have had numerous bushiness donate a $10 or less item and we are very grateful for the contributions. We are also on waiting lists from other business's and we are grateful to them as well for considering helping out. Like the post before I too loved going in there and creaking across the floors and reminiscing about my parents taking me shopping here as a child and marlows next door, but the charm has left the building for me sad to say. To be rude to kids is just plain sad. If your looking to spend a little more than HD or Lowes and simply support a small business than this place is for you but if your looking for a true community business I guess Manchester Hardware no longer feels the need to be a part of the community who's name they bare. Try Hardys on middle turnpike. Not quite as big, no squeeky floored walk down memory lane but always friendly, always helpful and the prices are reasonable! The lifetime of Manchester Hardware is long...way back to the time when Blish's was only a few blocks up and there was plenty of business for both. MH is a bright clean place with the simple need to have items that make going to the big box stores a challenge. I like the fact the floors creak when you go in..and the fact t hat the owner is there...alot and knows his business... The service is always friendly and it makes me feel a little like going back in time. Keep up the good work...and we should all make a string effort to support small local businesses ...without them our towns would be a vacumn. read more

They know us by name, they remember why we've been in last name, and we have go to guys. We trust them for recommendations (tree removal, contractor, masonry supply) and ask home improvement advice on the regular. The guys (and gals!) who work here know what they are talking about. They have a rental company too. They are also the only place I know to get compostable cleaning wipes. Great selection of cleaning supplies. Manchester Hardware is our go to! read more

An experience we had today showed us very clearly why places like Manchester Hardware are so important. The valve on our single-handled shower system gave out today and wouldn't turn off. My husband turned off the water and brought the mixing valve with him to MH. They did not have what he needed for the repair, but knew what he needed to buy and knew right where to send him for parts - in town - that cost less than 5 dollars! Before it got sold to Star Hardware in Ellington , Service there was good. Workers would come over and ask you if you needed help and would help you find what you were looking for ,. Even suggest another item if they thought the price might be better than a name brand. It has changed hands since April 2016 and I went in yesterday to find a light switch. One of the workers there was standing right next to me and never once asked if He could help me. Someone came up from the basement and walked right past me and never asked if I was being helped. I went to check out and the girl behind the counter , looked bored and put out that I was buying something. She didn't even ask if I wanted a bag for my two items. I know this sounds nit picky , but sometimes it's the little things , that make you want to go back . They are close by so I will go back if I need something , but not a big fan of the new ownership I read more

Well.. First of all, I have to say that I'm stunned by the negative reviews. I've been going to this store SINCE it sold and have found ALL staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable virtually every time I go in which is several times a month. There have been times I had an 'idea' of what I was looking for- but wasn't entirely sure and employee's have come up with potential idea's that almost always solve the issue. I've been in the store when it's very busy and have always heard customers- most of who seem to be 'regulars' sounding & looking pretty satisfied so to me... I think those few 'idiots' who demean the store are impossible to please anyway! read more

I always get helped when I go there. They are friendly and very helpful whenever I go there. They go out of their way. Yesterday, they carried my heavy TV wall hanger to the car for me. They are community minded, as well. They donated to the raffle for Lily's fund raiser generously with a gift card. I have been going there since about 1992. When I have a project they help me find the things I need to do it and offer their knowledge as to how to FIY. They are the best. You can rent all kinds of tools that are great for completing projects efficiently and their rates are reasonable. read more

I always enjoyed visiting Manchester Hardware when my daughter lived nearby. They have a wonderful selection of new and old - And now that I need a blue toilet seat cover (really - a blue toilet came with a house in Idaho), I remember they mentioned they had one in their basement storage when I was looking for a yellow one for her. Always wonderful service. And wood floors rock! I will miss visiting this store more than her neighbors now that she moved. read more
