I really wanted to like Cool & Luke's and support a local restaurant, but tonight's dinner was extremely disappointing. Three of us arrived around 9:00 p.m. after an event at the Moose Lodge. Since they close at 10:30, I specifically asked our server if we were too late for dinner. She assured us we were fine, so we ordered cocktails and three full entrées. Our server was wonderful, but unfortunately the food was not. The rolls and beans arrived ice cold. The ribs were overly salty, the baked potato was scorched, and the corn was barely edible. One person did enjoy their shrimp sampler. I ordered the roughly $60-$65 porterhouse with asparagus and the $5 lobster mac and cheese upgrade. The steak was extremely tough, fatty and full of gristle. The asparagus was overly charred and crunchy, and the lobster mac and cheese was watery, bland and had virtually no seafood flavor. After two bites, I sent the meal back. Our server was very apologetic and removed my entrée from the bill without me asking. I still tipped her based on the original total because she provided excellent service and the food quality wasn't her fault. I understand we arrived later in the evening, but if a restaurant is open until 10:30 and tells customers at 9:15 that it's fine to order, the food should still meet the same standard--especially at steakhouse prices. Visited March 11 2026. See my receipt as proof as always. I was in Yuba City and finally got to try this place ! I got there alittle after 4pm and enjoyed a relaxing atmosphere ! I ordered the steak bites which came with garlic bread . The meat was tasty and it came out sizzling! Meat was tender and so was the mushrooms. It has a full bar with happy hour and early dinner specials. It's casual inside. Crystal was wonderful! I am always looking for a dog friendly area which it has but it's extremely small with 2 tables on the side of the restaurant. They have happy hour and early bird dinners. Great for groups and plenty of tvs. Good experience and great service! read more

Kinda bummed. Came in on a Thursday around 5:30om for the happy hour special drinks (six dollar sippers and appetizers....but the drink specials are over : 0 ) Stayed anyway for the appetizers. Service today was unusually slow.... We ordered our food items (cheese burger sliders, taco truck tacos and loaded fries). Burgers are usually great but today they were kinda burnt. There looked like only one bartender and one expediter. I think the bartender (who was the server too) needed help. Three stars because there wasn't enough help to adequately serve. We made reservations for Easter Brunch. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived, the hostess/ waitress was very friendly and attentive from the start. This was our first time for the brunch experience and we enjoyed all the different options they offered. They have all the breakfast items such as egg, potatoes, sausage, bacon, French toast, waffles etc. a carving station that included ham and prime rib , plus an omelette station. Came for dinner and were seated right away. All the staff were very nice and welcoming. There was a bar area to the side and the hostess led us to the searing area. There was plenty of seating. The decor was a little on the older side. The bench we were seated on was old and dipped down. The food was good and the filet was cooked perfectly and a good size. It was a little disappointing that it only came with one side and no vegetables. I also asked for a side of shrimp and they brought us a whole appetizer which was a lot since I was the only one that eats shrimp. We got the mimosa flights which was a good size to share. read more

Came here with my daughter and her in-laws. I didn't know that this was a chain restaurant as it was my first time. This one is located in Yuba City. Not going to lie about it but the restaurant seemed old and somewhat run down. The server who explained that she was new was nice but when it came to actual service it was decent, I had to ask 4 times for water. The food was just blah for me, I don't know. Went to support Resqpaws as 20% of the proceeds will be donated. Brunch Buffet for $26.95 was okay, what really saved it was the prime rib and steak, more of the rare side which is exactly how I like my steaks. However, the rest of my party was the total opposite. But this is my review right? Besides the prime rib and steak, everything else was basic. They had the regular breakfast selections, from scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, ham and bacon to French toast and pancakes. There could've been more variety for desserts. read more

Wish I had taken more photos of the food but I was so taken aback by my $9 "ice cream sundae".. apparently this is an appropriate amount of ice cream for nearly $10. That's actually insane. What's worse is that we actually spent almost $100 on this order for two entrees and this "sundae". The steak entrees were heavy in oil/butter, as in wet. The mushrooms that came with it were saturated. The cherry on top is that they sell ice cream yet have no spoons to go. Overall I feel pretty ripped off. Maybe the experience would have been better had we eaten there but unfortunately it is the restaurant's responsibility to ensure a pleasant experience both there and for their to go orders. read more

First off we had reservations only to be told when we arrived (on time) it would a 15-30 minute wait. After we finally got seated and placed our order it was at least 30 minutes before the food arrived. One of the steaks was so over cooked it looked like shoe leather. Sent it back and this time it came back so rare that it looked like it barely touched the grill. The inside of the steak was completely RAW. By this time the rest of the table had finished their meal so we ended up leaving without the main "guest", (the father of the group) having any dinner. Someone in management came to our table to apologize and gave us a $25 voucher for next time which was a nice gesture to make things better but bottom line, this was Father's Day and the Father ended up without eating. On a positive note, the server was OUTSTANDING and did everything she possibly could to make things better. It wasn't her fault and we did realize it was Father's Day (busy time at a steak house!) but the entire evening was so disappointing. If we were to ever go back it would be at a slower time so maybe the staff could get the order right. It was very commendable of management to come to our table to apologize but an apology doesn't make a horrible experience better on a special night for our Father. kind of put a damper on the rest of the evening. read more

While the staff was friendly enough, the final bill was a massive shock: $264 total for a basic breakfast. ​When you break down the math, it averaged out to $44 per person. Because a 16-year-old counts as an adult on the pricing sheet, we were billed for 4 adults (approx. $35 each) and 2 kids (approx. $15 each), plus two mimosas. On top of that, because we were a headcount of six, the system automatically tacked on an 18% large-party gratuity. ​Paying premium, high-end resort prices would be fine if the food matched the ticket, but it absolutely didn't. The buffet options felt incredibly basic--more like a standard, subpar hotel continental breakfast than a steakhouse brunch. The quality just wasn't there to justify a quarter of a grand for a casual morning family meal. ​If you have a larger family, be aware of the headcount rule and the automatic gratuity before you sit down. For us, the math and the food quality just didn't align, and we won't be back anytime soon. read more

This place used to be good but it has gone WAY downhill. I went last night and the service was terrible! She didn't bring or offer us waters and even after we asked it took a very long time. We had drinks, an onion petal, and entrees and our dinner took an hour and half because everything took SO long. Thank goodness the entrees we ordered came with salad because I would have been starving if we hadn't had that. When the food came out two of our plates were piping hot meaning they were under the heat lamp a long time. My mashed potatoes had a thick skin on them. My aunt got steak bites but it was at least 2/3 mushrooms 1/3 steak. The server also never apologizednfornanythingntaking a long time or for her forgetting to bring certain things. We call this place Cool Hand Dookies. We made up the nickname years ago, but forgot why... then we had dinner there tonight and realized it pretty quickly. Family of 3, walk in on a Thursday evening at 5:30pm. Not busy, but informed there would be a 10 minute wait... the bar was open seating, but we decided to wait for a booth. Took 15 minutes to seat, walking through the restaurant, there were plenty of open spaces and it wasn't busy whatsoever. Waited at least another 10 for the waitress to finally come take our drink order. The room we sat in looked disgusting, the fabric on the booth was dirty, the pleather looks worn, wallpaper falling off the wall and the light sconce in our booth was loose as it was missing one of its screws that held it in place. Since we could tell they were going to take their sweet time, we put in our food order the same time as we got our drink order. Beans and bread came fast, thankfully because we waited nearly an hour for our entrees. Food was ok, but certainly not worth the wait or the price. Waitress never refilled our drinks, or offered until we were practically done. Most certainly won't be back. Whoever owns this place needs to really needs to invest some time and money into it. read more

I was a little hesitant we decided to go on a Friday evening however Luke's did not disappoint. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, at first we were her only table and gradually we could see she was attending to several other guest. She manage to take our order, check in on us and allowed us time to chat after dinner without rushing us out after we paid our bill. Our food came out on timely manner and was delicious. If I could give them a ZERO I would! I ordered a prime rib and porterhouse steak from there website. I ordered the porterhouse, medium rare, with mushrooms and fried onions. It was THE WORST STEAK FOR $60! I ordered it medium rare and it was well done, tough, bone dry, stringy and full of fat. A porterhouse is supposed to be one the best cuts of steak, with half being a New York Strip and the other Filet Mignon. What a joke! I wouldn't give this steak to my dog. I ordered extra toppings, the onion rings and mushrooms. The onion rings were so greasy and there was 4 of them and the mushrooms were all burnt. All 5 of them. They also got my salad dressing wrong! .....THEN! I called to speak to the manager and was told they would have to call me back after talking with their kitchen manager. I finally got a call and they said that we took too long to come pick it up so the steak sat there and kept cooking, which is why the steak went from medium rare to well done. I was a chef, and NEVER in my life have I heard such a LAME excuse! If they had actual trained "cooks", (definitely no chefs are working there, and if someone claims that they are one, they should've asked for his credentials!) If someone orders a steak medium rare the target pull temp should be between 130 - 135F degree, so the steak needs to be pulled at 120-125F so after it rests it will be up to temp. Apparently, the "cook" doesn't know this, because if the "cook" allowed for resting time, the steak wouldn't have been well done. When we got the steak home after picking it up, it was way over cooked! Not only that, this was a $55 piece of meat! A porterhouse, which is the mother of all steaks was dry, greasy, fatty and had so much spices on it that it made me gag. When I called to tell them I got the run around and then was told since I ordered it online, I actually ordered it through DoorDash. What? Huh?... We came and picked it up. Last time I checked, DoorDash is for ordering something you want delivered?? They claimed that since we ordered our food online, even though we picked it up, that we need to take this matter up with DoorDash. WTH? I would've had them deliver it had I known I was somehow using DoorDash through their website. There is not any mention that if you order something for "pickup" it will then be going through DoorDash and that's who I need to address my complaint to. There is ZERO mention of this on un-Cool Hand Lukes website! After I got the call back and was told all these ridiculous excuses and then I got hung up on. My poor husbands Bday was ruined with all this BS! I've honestly never had a good meal there and don't how they stay in business with their poor quality of service and even worse quality of food. FOODIES BEWARE! DO NOT EAT THERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A BAD COLD AND CAN'T TASTE ANYTHING. WTH is up with this DoorDash BS? Minus ZERO stars on this one! The prices are those of a fine dining restaurant, which is absurd! They probably buy their meat at Walmart. No, actually, I just bought steaks from there and they were WAY BETTER.... DoorDash? Really? WTH? Unfortunately, I'm going to have to call my credit card and cancel the payment because they have no intention at all on making this good.
