I ordered a basic breakfast that consisted of eggs, bacon, and hash brown, with a side of French toast to go. It was an average wait. I've been coming to this location since I was 14 with my buddies. The famous "Mess" is the best dish in the house. Cook N Pot makes some great food. The ambiance is definitely dated but that's the appeal for me. It hasn't changed since I was a kid. I love this place and now being able to take my wife and 14 and 10 year old here is a wonderful memory made. First visit since COVID. The place has that hometown feel. Which we love although some may not. The restaurant is clean. When we arrived 8am on Friday, the restaurant clientele seemed like the locals. We chose a table for two and our server was nice and friendly. We ordered the full mess to share and coffee. The coffee was good strong and not bitter. The full mess with eggs scrambled hard and salsa on the side-eggs done just the way we like, hash browns-well cooked and crisp,biscuits-large and fluffy, bacon-crispy and not oily, gravy-your standard white gravy, smooth and creamy but something seemed missing. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. It was definitely enough for two. We would definitely return to try some of their other offerings. It's hard to pick the #1 reason why I give this place 5 Stars! Is it the home cooked feel, the friendly staff or just the salsa? Either way, whenever I'm in town (even if there's a 5 year gap) I always return here to have at least one breakfast. I'll be honest I've pretty much only have had The Mess (yes, full order). But my wife and kids have ordered other things on the menu and no one leaves disappointed. My son ordered the kids meal and it was a lot for him too. The pancakes are good, the bacon cooked to perfection and I know the french toast is good too. Roxy has been there for as long as I can remember. She is always so great and patient with kids and us older kids too. I have never had a bad experience. Even the coffee is good. I'll stop rambling to end this as it just looks like a mess... Other than the original name, this place is nothing like it was under the previous ownership, ordered linguica and eggs (over easy), with toast, breakfast, and what I received was burnt linguica, one egg was over hard and over cooked, covered in grease. Anyone who buys or sells a popular restaurant needs to learn one thing, it is ALL about the recipes, you don't have them or can't execute them properly, it will be a slow death to the once popular restaurant. Get the Hot mess, it is loaded with huge homemade biscuits, potatoes, gravy, eggs and add meat. A half order would still fill up two people. Their burgers are also good as well as their fries. Be patient as it is a tiny place and everything is cooked to order. The have had the same recipes for years. The place doesn't look like much from the outside or the inside but it is clean and you would be lucky to get a table after 9 on Saturdays. They are closed Sundays. read more

I loved this place. Great food and the nicest owner ever. We had just moved to town and the staff all welcomed us. It was put first morning in our new home and we didn't know the area. Just don't go! I'll start by saying I have been here multiple times in the past it was always good ambiance, great customer service and amazing food. So when my friends suggested a girls morning breakfast. It was a no-brainer to suggest this place. I haven't been in a while, but I remember how good it was. Immediately upon my entrance, I recognized that all of the staff had changed. There is a creepy 50 year old man that seemed to be everyone's waiter. He continuously insisted that I give him a big smile before he brings me anything; weird but OK I'll let this go. I ordered an iced tea which is my signature drink every time I go with lemon. I take a sip and it taste strange almost like a powder tea. I remove the lemon from my glass to squeeze it into the tea and lemon is falling apart. Definitely at least a week old cut lemon. A little disgusted, but whatever. He comes by four times within a 10 minute period Asking us if we're ready and we had just arrived and had not even all taken a look at the menu. It wasn't a quick sweet check-in. He was rude all times. At one point he literally said to us "just take all day then". I ordered the mess and asked for a side of bacon, and he told me that I had to give him a big smile first. My friend happened to drop the napkin that was on her lap. He walked by picked it up, then dropped the napkin on the table in front of her saying "I am not your slave ". The food arrives and my food tastes strange kinda stale or old. Almost like they make the gravy in big batches and use it for days... I don't even know... needless to say, I did not eat much from my plate I put a napkin on top of it to cover it. I wasn't going to let this ruin my girls morning. He comes by to ask if we need to go boxes. I tell him no and he says "are you seriously going to waste all of that food " I responded with "hey man I'm paying for it it's all good" he then says "you shouldn't be waisting food like that". To put the icing on the cake he brings us our receipts We all pay out and sign our tickets. Minutes later, he comes back to the table looks under the table all on top of the table as if he's searching for something. We question him, and he says that one of us left him the wrong receipt because there is a merchant copy and customer copy. It was me. I accidentally gave him the customer receipt. I told him I put the other receipt in the glass of tea as I do it every restaurant when I leave. I shit you not this man throws my receipt in my face, reaches over the table, puts his whole hand in the glass of tea, pulls out the receipt from the cup and wiggles it in the air getting tea all over us saying " now I have to dry this shit out" and walks away. I could honestly go on and on about our experience. It was awful. I left so upset. The service was awful. The food was awful. The server needs to find another job. I will never visit this establishment again. This place used to be such a magical little hole in the wall diner. It's so sad to see how it has changed and went downhill. read more

I appreciated the nostalgic decor and maintaining its style and hope they never modernize. The food was delicious and delivered on my anticipation of having it taste like grandma's cooking.
