Date night! Very lovely place, setup and decor was pleasant. Loved the atmosphere, you can come here for business, as a family, date night, or just drinks. I'm pregnant did not get to try any drinks (next time). Water was served to us right away. I did not see a place where non alcoholic drinks were listed but asking my waitress worked just fine. Got unsweetened tea with lemon was nice. Appetizers were delicious Charcuterie board lovely apple spread and little stuffed potatoes buffalo like sauce The entrées we got Manila Clam Linguine, and Chicken Beer Adobo with Lime rice. Had lunch March 25 2026..see my receipt as always. As I said a few days ago I would be back to try their food! My boyfriend and I got there at 1130am (made reservations) and sat in the enclosed patio because I had my puppy with me. Dog friendly patio! We enjoyed the bacon jam burger and Caesar salad. The burger was perfect and had alot of flavor to it! The Caesar salad could have had alittle more dressing but still good. I had a chardonnay and my boyfriend had some type of dark beer with peanut butter flavor (delicious!) It was very relaxing and enjoyable! Many people were dressed not too casual but classy! Next door is their tap room where you can pour your own wine or beer. Fun atmosphere. Darts and games inside. Overall I am glad we came back so I could do a proper review! They have a full bar with many specialty drinks. They also have happy hour and dinner. It's an intimate restaurant so make reservations! CHAD was our waiter and he was professional and polite! A Friday on May 15th, a friend invited me to the tap room at City Cafe. It's right adjacent to the City Cafe where you can sit and enjoy the many options at your fingertips that require self pour. They include wines, beers, ciders and you can also enjoy a meal, appetizers and dessert. They have a great selection of fresh salad, seafood and burgers etc. I had the clam linguine with garlic bread and it was fantastic. The broth was amazing. I paired it with a strawberry cider and it was a great option for these warmer weather's we are having. City Cafe in Yuba City has a cute, romantic vibe. The decor is charming, and the place is clean and nicely put together. It has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, the service and food didn't quite hit the mark for me. When we walked in, the hostess looked pleasant, but her attitude didn't match. She didn't seem genuinely welcoming, which was a letdown. It felt like they were short-staffed--only two servers were on the floor, running back and forth trying to keep up. The waitress tried to stay upbeat and put on a good show, but the overall service still felt lacking. The biggest disappointment for me was the tapa flatbread pizza. The waiter actually told us the pizza had been sitting out to cool. WTH? I want my pizza fresh out of the oven with a hot cheese pull, not something that's been sitting for who knows how long. The pizza was clearly not fresh, and the sauce was not good at all. I think they used wine in it or something, but the flavor was just off and not to my liking. I also had the salmon dish. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I wish I had asked for some lime or lemon--it needed something to brighten it up. The peas in the risotto were unexpected and didn't really work for me. My husband had the Ragu, a tomato-based noodle dish that tasted like spaghetti, but the flavor just wasn't good. It might've been the wine they used in the sauce again, but either way, it just didn't taste right to us. And the soup of the day? Honestly, it was straight-up nasty. It was a tomato seafood/fish soup, but the seafood was barely noticeable. The fish flavor completely overpowered the whole dish--it just wasn't enjoyable. One more thing: they never offered us a drink menu when we sat down. That should be part of the welcoming experience, and it felt like another missed detail. It also seems like their menu has changed over time--possibly due to new management--but not for the better. This place has the look and feel of a nice restaurant, but the service, food, and overall hospitality really need improvement. Staff need to stop acting so snobby and start welcoming people like they actually want them there. Otherwise, customers won't be coming back. read more

Had a girl's lunch here today and our server, Chad, was so warm and welcoming! He was very tentative and friendly. He gave great suggestions on what to order and we loved the prosciutto bacon flat bread!!!! I enjoyed my fish tacos and my daughter loved her burger. We will come again during lunch! Great brunch spot in the Yuba City area! City Cafe offers a classy, trendy ambience with gorgeous outdoor patio seating. They also have indoor seating if that is preferred. They offer parking behind the restaurant, so we had no issues getting a spot. We went for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and were seated immediately without a reservation. The service was friendly and fast. The prices were a bit expensive but the food was pretty delicious. I got eggs, bacon, and a fruit salad, while my boyfriend ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with chips. The chips were very salty and were weren't able to finish them. This review is for city social which is adjacent to city cafe. City social is our Friday date night spot. Although I don't drink, I like coming here with my hubby to wind down and talk about our week. It's cozy with beer and wine self serve stations which my husband likes. For those who don't drink, they have zero percent Heineken beer which I think is actually pretty good. Tastes crisp and refreshing like a beer without any alcohol. I don't get why there aren't more people in general. It's family friendly and we bring our newborn here while she is fast asleep. Service is always excellent. There are fun group games to play. Our favorite thing to order for food here is actually the burger from city cafe even though it's not on the menu. Plus Their fries never disappoint. We also tried their grilled cheese which was great. Definitely recommend this place read more

This is by far my favorite place in Yuba city! It's a great spot of date night girls night or family night. The patio is decorated amazingly and brings a classy and elegant atmosphere. The staff are amazing and are always very helpful. I've had breakfast lunch and dinner here. The French toast is to die for! A delicate soft moist (yes I had to use that word) toast that just melts in your mouth! I've had the salmon steak and many pastas! My favorite by far is their Friday lobster special! We had a reservation and when we walked in we had to wait in line for the hostess to greet us. Not professional. When we were finally greeted then seated, we were taken to a table that was right next to other couples when there were empty tables not so close together. So much for ambiance. The service and food was unremarkable for the price of the "special" dinner charged. Our server had the attitude as that of a short order waitress without any charm whatsoever. Girls brunch on a perfect, sunny Sunday afternoon! There was quite a few of us and we sat outside in the patio. The entrance to the patio was separate than the restaurant. Nice gate entrance surrounded by trees and flowers. Nice water fountain and tables were set up. They serve a flight of mimosas or you can order specialty drinks or anything by you prefer. I got the spicy Bloody Mary. Was very tasteful and you can see in the picture, was prepared very nicely! The wait was long for the food but could be because there was about 15 of us. My breakfast was really good. Was the perfect amt of flavor and enough to fill me up. Inside they have a one person bathroom. They have a little bar and also a piano and someone was playing soft music on there while we were eating which was nice. Overall, brunch at this charming eatery is a must-try for food lovers and brunch aficionados alike. With its delicious menu, inviting ambiance, and impeccable service, it's the perfect destination for a leisurely weekend meal that leaves you feeling satisfied and refreshed. City Cafe is a total gem!. We tasted some of their items at an event last month, so we stopped in for date night this month and it was delicious! The polenta and shrimp dish was off the charts. The polenta was super creamy and seasoned just right, and the shrimp were juicy and flavorful. Seriously, I couldn't get enough. I asked the bartender to surprise me with a cocktail and It was so refreshing and perfectly balanced, not too sweet but with a nice basil kick. Really good! The vibe at City Cafe is so cozy, and the staff really knows how to make you feel at home. Whether you're a foodie or just looking for a cool spot to hang, City Cafe is the place to be. The menu changes by season so the slow-cooked pork shoulder covered in a spice-balanced verde sauce might have a successor when you dine. The fried Brussel sprouts starter was deliberately noshed throughout the evening given the amole portion and deliciousness. First time coming here and it was surprisingly good. For the appetizer my partner and I got the calamari. Main dinner dish the Ribeye and chicken marsala. Both dishes had a great taste and portion size was decent. As to the drinks they had a great taste and balance of alcohol. This place is a hidden gem in yuba city Highly recommend this place for a special occasion or date night. We often come for breakfast but tonight we stopped by for dinner. Just love the ambience in here. It's quiet enough to wear you can carry a good conversation with your party. It is also very kid friendly. I ordered the salmon pasta and it was delicious! My husband got a steak and he also enjoyed it! Our little one got chicken bites with fries. The bread with honey butter is lovely! The customer service is amazing! They're very friendly and attentive. Tina always makes a point to stop by. I honestly had high expectations for a girls night out dinner here this last Saturday, and unfortunately was disappointed. The waitress took 2+ hours to take our food order, an ungodly amount of time between check ins for another round of drinks, and honestly the hostess was more attentive than she was. More often than not she was no where to be found. A large party was sat an hour after us and ate before us. Was this possibly some kind of discrimination? I think so. It felt like she didn't think she was getting a good tip out of us, and treated us secondary or less than every other patron in the building. The owner seemed nice and like she cared about our experience, the food was excellent (once it finally arrived) the place was clean and well maintained. And for those reasons I'm giving 3 out of 5. The City Cafe is a staple in Yuba City- I haven't been here in over 15 years and it's changed ownership numerous times within that time frame. I wasn't even sure if it was open and decided to pop in for lunch and I'm very happy I did so! The ambiance here is still amazing- this place has always been known for it's beautiful front patio and is one of the only places in town with patio seating. The service was also great- I was greeted and offered seating right away, servers consistently checked in on me, and the food came out within about 15 minutes. (Note it wasn't very busy but I'd say it was moderate, I expected to wait longer) The lunch menu is a bit limited- I would have preferred a bit more verity of items to choose from; the menu comprised of just essentially, two salads, a soup, a couple burgers and a sandwich. Not much of anything else. I admit I considered not eating here because none of those were what I had in mind for lunch , and generally I'm not a burger person but I asked the waitress what she recommended which was the Bacon Jam Burger - she nearly lost me , not at all something i would ever order but, decided to give it a go and boy am I happy I did! The bacon jam burger was so different from any burger I've ever had, on a brioche bun with Gorgonzola and of course bacon jam! The perfect balance of sweet, savory, and hearty. I cut it in half as generally that's all I would eat but I ate the entire thing, it was fantastic. I ordered a side Cesar to pair with it and that was great too but the burger was the real star here! I will definitely be back for lunch and am hoping to check out their dinner and weekend brunch with friends as well. read more

We actually were going to eat at the brewery across the street but ended up coming here after the brewery seemed to be lacking... We sat on the patio with our dog and the staff and owner/manager were so attentive and kind to us! They brought bug spray (lots of mosquitos this time of year) and water for our pup without us asking! The ambiance was great and we are SO glad we came here instead. This was formally "The City Cafe." So far as I'm aware, it simply changed ownership. It's lovely inside and outside and the menu has been paired down quite a bit. It's excellent though and you can tell they put a lot of love into the food. This was my first time visiting since the change and I was impressed. :) It's more upscale than most of the places here so it's perfect for a nice night out. I had the filet mignon and it was amazing. Melted in my mouth. My husband had the pork shoulder and it was delicious too. It's pretty pricy but taste wise it's well worth it. I took one star off for the service. Our waitress was sweet but barely paid any attention to us. It was 15+ minutes between visits from her and it took us almost 2 hours for our dinner. They were busy not not slammed and there were plenty of waiters around so I'm not sure what happened. It was obvious there were some regulars there because most of the wait staff was just paying attention to them. Which was a shame because we're paying customers too. Regardless, it's a lovely spot and we'll be back although I hope we get a different waitress. Oh! They also have a brunch & lunch menu that looks excellent. read more
