I've been coming to this nail salon in the heart of Glendale since they opened many years ago, and it's always been a fantastic experience. This family-owned salon really shows teamwork and collaboration, especially when helping with nail color recommendations. I love all of the technicians and will happily use anyone if my favorites aren't available--Brian, Lily, Vi, Nina, Hannah, and Alex (who is incredibly polite) are all wonderful. The staff are the most respectful, the salon is spotless , they use high-end nail brands, and their service is personable. Pricing is very reasonable too. I've recommended it to many friends and family, and everyone has loved it. Same-day appointments can be tricky if you want a specific technician, but walk-ins are usually handled quickly. A gem in Glendale. I've been coming here for years and everyone who works here is sweet, treats you like family. It's not the fanciest place but more of a mom and pop type shop. I believe this is a family business. Definitely need to show support for local mom and pop shops. I get the gel manicure here and at $35 dollars it's very reasonable. Turns out great every time. I don't get manicures very often but when I do Alex is always my go to. He's great, fast and does great work every time and everything that I ask for. Prices are very comparable as well for the quality of manicures he can provide. They do charge $1 more if you need to pay card. read more

I made an appointment for 2pm. I waited 20 minutes and 20 min of waiting I asked when they can take me in the lady said 30 minutes. I told her my appointment was at 2 she said well wait about 30 minutes. So what's the point of an appointment if I have to wait not 5 -10 minutes but over 30 including my 20 min of initially waiting before asking. Definitely a no go for me. I left the place. Had an appointment with a friend here at 10am today for 2 gel pedicure one gel manicure and one gel full set, we arrived to 5 people already in the nail shop before they opened doing their nails who were walk ins. The only took my friend to do her nails having me wait. The whole point of an appointment was to have a girls day and have them done together meanwhile the chair next to her was empty and not even in use! Mind you it was working, that's ridiculous I come from West Covina so this was a drive to try this place, wouldn't recommend go somewhere! First time he yelled at me I apologized. The second time he yelled at me, I stopped the whole thing and left the salon. Normally they're great-however when I said I needed a gel manicure the woman started it. Usually one of the guys does it and he does it fine with tips if needed to and everything. However, when she was halfway done removing the old gel on my nails and said to cut them all short. I said no, usually they put the extensions on. She said she didn't do that and told me to wait- never mind that I still had the acetone tinfoil wrap on my fingers still. She was up selling me on the dipping powder which I didn't want anyway. It pains me to write this but the place has gone down hill over the last few years. While Brian and Alex are good at what they do, a lot of the times you're left waiting even though you have an appointment. My nail gel nails start lifting usually within 10 days. Their prices are the same as some other places so... My last appointment there was a few days ago. I had an gel mani booked with Brian and wanted a nail design. He said Lily would do it since he doesn't do designs which is fine. He prepped my nails and did the base color, then called Lily. She came to do my design then did it poorly and said my nail bend is too small for that design. I said okay I understand, can you do this other (again, simple design) she said "no I'm not doing a design on you Brian can take care of it". The attitude and customer service from her was VERY bad. The customer on the chair next to me looked at me like "wtf?" A few appointments ago Lily did my pedicure very quickly, half assed and didn't even put a base coat on. When I asked her to put a base, she said "I don't do that" when every other time someone else has done my pedicure (and every other salon I've visited) they ALWAYS put a base coat to protect your nail. Because of Lily, I won't be coming back. I'm baffled that she just got up and left. She definitely treats customers differently depending on whether or not SHE PERSONALLY likes you or not. I've been coming here for years and have been loyal, but the last two times were bad and I'm not having it anymore. That's not how you do business. I had to find a new nail salon because my lady is no longer working, very unfortunate. Now, it's all about trying different salons with trial and error. I went to one and it was terrible, but was super pleased when I went to this place, Cool Nails, for the first time after a friend recommended it. Alex did my nails and I got a full set, short, for $30. I also got a pedicure with another lady for $18 (don't know her name). Alex was really great with my full set. I'm a very picky person and he was very diligent and took his time, made sure everything was great. If I wanted him to fix something, he would, no questions asked. He seemed to be very focused on his work and didn't talk much, but I don't mind. I would definitely go there again. I am pleased. The only side note, it took me a minute to find the salon since a giant tree was covering their name sign. I recommend trimming so the salon name shows. Place seemed clean, they had liners in their spa chairs, and the spa chairs were nice - a little more elevated than what I'm used to! read more

I was going to Cool Nails for several months and was always happy with the service and quality of my nails. The last few times were very disappointing. First, they do not care about honoring appointments and take walk ins just to get as many people in as possible, even if that means not seeing their actual appointments on time. The last time I went, I got a dip powder and it was absolutely atrocious. It was super thick and just looked terrible. The pedicure is also just very mediocre and the massage part of it is nonexistent. It's ran by a family, all the workers (excpet like 2-3) are all siblings, kids of the siblings. I have to make a family tree for them HAHAH Anyways, they seem like a family to me whenever I go there. I got a chrome gel mani here, and the nail tech who did my nails did not do it properly. I asked her to please redo the polish because it's was thick and gritty. I offered to pay twice since it was a complete redo. The nail tech started shouting in Vietnamese and stormed off. Another nail tech berated me the entire time she was taking off my polish. She was rough with my hands (picture attached), filed until I bled on 2 fingers, so I asked to please charge me for the pedicure and let me go. They charged my card $61 with no breakdown on the receipt and demanded I sign. I spoke to the owner, Alex, who supported his shouting employee. When I said I will not, the nail tech who filed off my skin spat as she shouted "Even better, I will charge you even more!" 0 class, 0 customer service to say the least. Never coming back to this place EVER again! After so many years of being a loyal customer, today I reached my breaking point. Super annoyed and dissatisfied for the last time! They almost always overbook people and make people wait in that tiny salon, I've legit seen old ladies standing around and waiting to be serviced (because they didn't even have enough chairs for them to sit) When they ask if and when anyone can take them, those people just give them the "oh five more minutes" bull**** answer and lie through their teeth of course! Some get irritated and leave, some wait around forever to get service done! But even when you have a appointment and you're on time, these people make you wait and wait!!!!! I've even had a incident where he forgot he booked me! I had to wait for an hour because he double booked and he was doing someone else's nails when I got to my "appointment." So Today I got there to my 4 o'clock appointment for nails and pedicure, he made me wait 20 minutes before starting on my nails alone, I asked him about my pedicure and he didn't even bother to answer me, they literally didn't get started on my pedicure until an hour after my appointment time! No regard for other people's time what so ever! My pedicure was half a**ed, my nails were half a**ed!, Its like they don't even bother to put enough effort into doing a clean and even job on anything anymore! Each and every time, the service deteriorated, just got worse and worse after each visit! As if he got so comfortable and thought he can wing it for me and I'll still be back and pay him to piss me off and ruin my day! For example today, he scratched and cut around my cuticles on almost every single finger! I currently have bandaids and ointment on a few of my newly done nails. My nails are uneven and crap looking! Smfh...He keeps having to take breaks here and there while doing my nails, to answer the phone, to write down appointments etc! Hire a damn receptionist for crying out loud! I don't come pay all that money there every two weeks, to get a half ass set slapped on, given attitude and talked shit about when I ask to fix something or what not, and to spend hours sitting there waiting all because you just pile up clients and don't have enough room or nail techs to take care of them! I pay to get service done, you're not doing me a f***ing favor! Oh and not to mention, I ALWAYS TIP BOTH NAIL TECHS A FAIR AMOUNT regardless, if I like the job they did or not! They use cheap products, hence why I'm constantly having to deal with chipped and broken or popped off nails, they have poor customer service and they are not very knowledgeable at their job! I'm done. I will take my business elsewhere after today! I rather pay extra and leave satisfied and happy rather than pay a few bucks less and come home irritated, in pain and fix the mess I paid for! I would not recommend coming to get a pedicure here if they're going to do any clipping of any sort. My mother recently went there and 3 days later she started feeling some pain on her toe. Long story short, the way they cut her nail allowed there to be an ingrown nail one of her toes. She ended up getting an infection and had the ingrown nail (that grew exponentially) surgically removed at LA+USC Medical Center. read more
