Healthy Pets is in a separate building across the driveway, where all surgeries are performed Yesterday I took Max in for his dental surgery. I was rather concerned about the anesthesia, so was quite relieved to receive a phone call after the surgery telling me that everything had gone perfectly. Several hours later I was able to bring him home having had two extractions. Aside from the spot on his leg that had to be shaved, when I got home and let him out of his carrier, one wouldn't even know he'd just had surgery. After 20 years at another vet practice, I'm so glad I moved my cats care to this vet practice. I've found the staff at both buildings, efficient, caring, and totally professional. I was given detailed written post op. instructions in addition to verbal instructions and any questions I had were patiently answered. For those that don't know Healthy Pets is the canine practice and surgery, while Oly Cats is where you take your felines for normal service.

I tried flushing her eyes with a water bottle and waited to see if she would improve, but she continued to squint and looked very uncomfortable. I called several vet clinics in the area--including ones an hour away--but no one could see her. Thankfully, one clinic recommended Olympia Pet Emergency, and when I called, Amber kindly said I could bring her in. Emmery, the nurse, helped triage Maple right away, and Dr. Tello was incredibly thorough in explaining what he found. Maple had a bad case of keratitis caused by the sand. Dr. Tello created a special serum from Maple's own blood to help her cornea heal faster and prescribed antibiotic eye drops to prevent infection. Since Maple is very high energy, he also gave her medication to help her stay calm while she heals. As of this morning, Maple is no longer squinting and looks much more comfortable. I'm so grateful for how quickly they saw her, the detailed care and explanations, and the reassurance that she'll be okay. This clinic went above and beyond, and I'm deeply appreciative of their help during our vacation emergency.

I took my extremely sick cat to Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Olympia. They examined the cat and…read morerecommended $2500 worth of testing to determine the cause of its illness. They completely missed the very large bite (abscess) on its chest but did notice that it had an increased temperature. After paying $680 for a blood test that did not show the cause of the illness,, I realize that additional testing would result in a treatment cost that I could not afford even though the high cost of treatment was not discussed by the technician. They treated the cat for a stomach illness, and I brought him home. He continued to get worse, and I was afraid that I was going to lose him until I noticed the very large ruptured abscess on his chest that was missed by the hospital. I took him to a local vet the next day who gave him antibiotics and he has improved dramatically. When I called the pet hospital to complain about them missing the abscess, they told me that I was lying, and even though the cat had spent a day and a half inside that abscess had not been there when they examined the cat. I do not recommend taking your animals to this pet hospital! they reached out to me for a review and asked me to contact them if I had any problems, but they never responded when I sent this information to them.

The doctor and the nurse were very kind and they reassured us that things weren't as bad as they looked and that he would heal by himself with a little medicine and TLC. How relieving! No fuss, no muss. We were out of there in 30 mins with a plan on how to help my baby and a plan B if things weren't healing on their own. They understood our anxiety and their kindness and straight shooting answers made us feel confident things would be okay. We liked our last vet, but this place has more reasonable prices, were open earlier, and we just felt cared for, so we're staying with CPAH for all three of our dogs. Love this place.

Finally, on my departure today, they hand me a tube of medicine that is $30 for a simple lesion. It's really irritating to know that I could've spent so much less on this every month had someone simply had the courtesy to inform me that I could get it for cheaper online. But no. Let's follow the Almighty dollar instead. Everything is always so surprisingly - and offensively - expensive through SBVH.
