I have a regular vet for my pets but I was desperate for a same-day appt. I had heard negative things about this vet but thought I would give a call anyway. After talking with the receptionsist for a bit, she then asked the male vet if he could get me in. He said yes but told her that since its his last appt of the day (at 415), I would have to pay the emergency fee of $200!!! Note: This is why I was calling in the afternoon so I could get in somewhere before ER hours. It seemed to me that he didn't make his 'quota' for the day so he expected me to pay it, or whoever came in last. I gladly declined and called elsewhere. I was able to get a same-day appt for a "non-emergency" fee. I will never call this money hungry vet again!! read more

I think Dr Keith and his staff are amazing. I have one been there once with one of my dogs this past week, and I can't say enough good things about them. I called in because my dog was acting really strange and I needed her to be looked at. I called the vet in the area that I normally go to because of their extended hours. I asked them if they had anything open for that day because my dog needed to be seen ASAP, and I was treated very rudely over the phone and was talked to like I was a major inconvenience. I decided to give Dr Keith and his staff a try. I called and the gal asked me what was going on, I explained to her what I was seeing and she told me that Dr Keith's surgery days were Tues and Thurs (this was a Tues) and he was really full that day, but to wait on the line and she would talk to the Dr. She came back on and told me that Dr Keith could see my sweet girl at 10 that morning. (it was 8:30 am when I called). I was so relieved when he said he could see her. When we went in for our apt Dr Keith and his assistant were so gentle with my girl and seemed 100% genuinely concerned for my girl. He took the time to explain everything he was doing, and the reason for it. He asked me lots of questions to get to know the kind of dog she was (I loved that) and I knew in the first 10 mins of our apt that she was in good hands. It ended up that she needed to be sedated for X-rays, so she needed to stay the afternoon, but he told me someone would call me as soon as they knew something to let me know. We found out that she has a calcified herniated disc in her back, and he took the time to go over X-rays with me and explain what he saw. This will be my furkids Dr office from now on as long as they are there. This office still has the "down to earth" feel, and they seem to care more about getting your furkid well rather then how much money they can get out of you by doing what they do! I just had the worst experience with Tenino Vet Clinic. I miss understood it was "curbside only", meaning my puppy could go in but I couldn't. It was my mistake and I elected to cancel because I didn't want my lab puppy's first vet experience to be negative (I think he would do better next to me). The very nice reception woman said, "let me go tell the Doctor". The Doctor that came out to scold me that the phone reception message clearly said it's curbside only. I said I misunderstood. I also said I tried calling twice before the appt to confirm and one time no answer and one time they put me on hold....I hung up after 7 min. She turned around and started walking away and said with her back to me, "we are very busy have a nice day" in a sarcastic voice. It's a pretty small town to treat people like that! read more

For what its worth, I thought Dr Keith was a great veterinarian: compassionate, thorough, and committed to the craft and the creatures in his care. In the two months of our association he took great efforts to explain what was going on, the various options, and shared a lot of information. His turnaround time on blood tests was impressive as was the time he took to explain the results. I was very happy to think I had found our Vet for the foreseeable future. That said, I was profoundly disappointed by the entire process we went through on Monday 08/13/18 with their office. The week before our dog had been diagnosed with a shoulder injury, mostly determined via manual palpitation x-rays which we were told required sedation. Less than a week later it became apparent that our dog had a raging infection in a toe. Keeping her in strict confinement as per our directions from this vet, we sent her home early from a family reunion with our daughter who brought her in to the office early Monday morning. Our daughter's interactions with Dr Keith were great, and he stated to her, "Hmm, I wonder if I missed this and this was the problem all along." When my wife called in an agitated state to discuss whether the clinic might make an adjustment to the $400 cost to deal with our dog's infection in light of the $325 spent on the misdiagnosis a week before, the response we received was: "You've expressed a lack of confidence, we can't help you, come get your dog." As we had told them, we were 300 miles away. Bear in mind that our dog was in a great deal of pain, and all we wanted was to discuss sharing the financial responsibility of a possibly mistaken diagnosis. We'd already spent roughly $1000 with this clinic over the last 6 weeks, a little consideration didn't seem out of line. The brittle pride of the response, at the obvious expense of our dog's suffering for the two additional days it took to get her in to see another vet suggest that any praise regarding this clinic's attention to their patients is solely based on fiscal return. "I'm sorry, our prices are as low as we can make them and this was based on a best guess" would have been fine. "Here's your hat, come get your dog" was utterly appalling as a customer service response. To be fair, I have no idea if the treatment we received was due to Dr Keith's position or an artifact of his notoriously surly office harridan Marcy, who was the only person we spoke with. All I know was we went from "can you make any cost accommodation" to "we can't work with you, where do we send your records" in the course of an hour and two phone calls. I can't in good conscience recommend this clinic to anyone. read more

I have to admit, we don't bring our boys to see Dr. Keith as often as we should, but when we need to see a vet, there is no one else we would consider. Dr. Keith has roots in the community and is sensitive to the needs and means that are prevalent here. Over the past 17 years, we have brought three of our furry family members to him and he has had the conviction of character to tell us what he knew we didn't want to hear. This last Saturday, we would have been willing to drain our bank accounts to save our Spaniel, but Dr. Keith looked us straight in the eye and told us that, even if we could find someone who would be willing to attempt miracles, there was no guaranteeing the outcome and the condition recurring was not a matter of if, but when. When it came time, Dr. Keith and his staff were so respectful of our feelings and made the procedure as comfortable as possible. I wouldn't recommend any other veterinary clinic, in general, nor any other Veterinarian in particular. read more

I have always used this vet. I needed to schedule to have my dog put down because she's in pain - they have a note on my file that I can't make appts there because I spaced it and forgot to cancel the appt I scheduled two weeks ago to put her down because they couldn't get me in for four days and then she got better. They said "we are like a doctors office, sorry".... well I don't think that's acting in the pets best interest when their owners make a human mistake. Mind you that I've never missed an appt before. No other vet will see her to put her down because she hasn't been to any other vet. I will never forget that they put a missed 20 min appt slot before an animal needing help and I hope others will consider this review and what their real interests are here, is not about the animals. read more

I have called with questions regarding my cat a couple times and both times I was treated very rudely. I was hoping I could find a helpful vet in my community but I felt like I was more of a bother. We have been going to Dr. Keith for 16 years now, with an assortment of many pets - 3 Mastifffs, 2 Yorkie mixes, a Rottweiler and a Toy Poodle, plus 8 cats of various breeds. This is the best vet we have ever been to. The Dr. Keith is a great diagnostician, extremely knowledgeable about all kinds of animals, and is conservative about rushing into very expensive procedures that may not be necessary. He was right every time! He is kind and explains everything in detail. All our kids have been comfortable with him, and everyone I have recommended him to has been happy. His staff is awesome, too! We can always get in to see him when we need to. read more
