No fuss, no muss. We were out of there in 30 mins with a plan on how to help my baby and a plan B if things weren't healing on their own. They understood our anxiety and their kindness and straight shooting answers made us feel confident things would be okay. We liked our last vet, but this place has more reasonable prices, were open earlier, and we just felt cared for, so we're staying with CPAH for all three of our dogs. Love this place.

Finally, on my departure today, they hand me a tube of medicine that is $30 for a simple lesion. It's really irritating to know that I could've spent so much less on this every month had someone simply had the courtesy to inform me that I could get it for cheaper online. But no. We thought the initial (almost $600) visit was handled correctly: we got a health certificate, and they provided a written prescription for Clavamox, advising us to wait for lab confirmation before administering the medication. We got a call to start the 14-day course of medication, which we had filled at a separate dispensary before leaving the United States. Unfortunately, we later discovered Pinehurst *only prescribed HALF the required course of antibiotics!!!* We are now stuck in Whitehorse, Canada, having to postpone a long driving day to Tok, Alaska, to coordinate with a local veterinarian that was willing to provide us with the remainder of the medication we should've been prescribed by Pinehurst. We just needed Pinehurst to email the details and confirm the Canadian clinic had everything they needed to dispense the medication. Unfortunately, when Pinehurst initially emailed the Canadian clinic, they DIDN'T include the prescription details. Pinehurst also told us their clinic's telephone system would not allow them to make an international telephone call to the clinic in Whitehorse, leaving us responsible for correcting another problem Pinehurst created. Given the urgency of the issue and their responsibility for this entire situation, why wasn't someone willing to use their personal phone to make the call? The repeated lack of basic follow-through caused significant stress and disruption to our travel with a sick cat. Would not recommend if you need reliable care or cross-border support.

Rather than starting with a targeted physical exam and a simple X-ray, they pushed an expensive upfront package including bloodwork ($400+) and initial sedation ($60 Butorphanol). Then, instead of attempting the routine X-ray, a technician--not the veterinarian--called demanding an additional $150 for Precedex procedural sedation because he wouldn't lie on his side. Sedating a brachycephalic dog without a dedicated anesthesiologist or a discussed airway emergency plan is high-risk. Having spent 15+ years managing complex bulldog health issues, I questioned why a doctor wouldn't personally explain the necessity, safety protocols, or airway management plan for escalating to procedural sedation. When I refused the extra $150 fee and opted to retrieve my dog, the staff copped an attitude simply because I bypassed their customer service script. Worse, they retaliated by sending me away without the lab resultsI had already paid hundreds of dollars for, failed to issue his prescribed medications, and closed for the day without calling to discuss the concerning finding in the labwork. Upon finally reviewing the point-of-care blood panel (Run time 5:09 PM), the results revealed severe hypoxemia (pO2 =49.7, Sp =82%), respiratory acidosis (pCO2 = 46.3, pH 7.336), and hyperlactatemia (Lactate 4.01 mmol/L). Pushing alpha-2 agonist procedural sedation on an oxygen-compromised bulldog, delegating consent to a tech, and withholding paid diagnostic results when a client declines an upsell is deeply unprofessional, unethical, and dangerous. If you use the services of this clinic I suggest that you pay attention to how they charge you. If they overcharge be prepared to be challenged and may be asked to find another clinic.

Our first visit was with our senior boxer baby Cali. With our previous vet (not Scatter Creek) having left a bad taste in our mouth, seeing Dr. Randall Thomas was a breath of fresh air. He is super down to earth but very straightforward, which we love. Cali was diagnosed that day as having a scratch on her eye. Sent home with an alone cone, drops, and further instructions for using natural tears. We have also seen Dr. Jill Suess and she is wonderful as well. Gentle, caring, knowledgeable, and honest. For the last year our puppy Houston has been visiting Scatter Creek for regular check ups, shots and some diet guidance. Once again Dr. Thomas to the rescue; taking and applying his advice for diet adjustments cleared up Houston's issues. Would highly recommend and I know my four legged baby is in good hands when he's there.

We've also had Dr. Reed a couple of times and she too is very knowledgeable with a gentle yet efficient bedside manner. Unfortunately, it's not always a guarantee that you will get Dailey or Reed and on the off-chance you get Dr. Grubb, you may have a much different experience. Although still very knowledgeable, Grubb's bedside manner has deteriorated over the years and I find him to be unnecessarily rough and unapproachable. It's a shame because he knows his stuff but knowledge is only part of the job. You have to have the interpersonal skills to deliver that knowldege to your client base as well. Bottom line, if you can get Dailey or Reed you will have an amazing experience!

Even if I move back to that area, I won't be returning to Steamboat Animal Hospital unless I read a review that the poor front desk people are replaced with competent receptionists. I thought at first they just needed training, particularly with the unrecorded appointment but also with smaller items earlier that just seemed they didn't know better. Finally, though, the continuing incompetence reached the last straw. Vet there, though, was great and the care once I passed the front desk was excellent.

I've been With Steamboat 27 years. it was a great clinic when Dr. Murphy owned it but since it's been sold, it's steadily gone downhill. I've had several problems with them but at the most recent problems. I got a new puppy and had all recent spay and vaccination records from the rescue organization. I called Steamboat to bring her in to establish a new pet And get flea meds. Although they couldn't get me in for 2-1/2 months they wouldn't sell me or give me a rx for flea meds. But what finally made me leave the clinic was when my 6 year-old dog became seriously I'll. They couldn't get me in for 3 weeks. So I took him to urgent care. Urgent care wanted me to follow up in 10-14 days with my regular vet. But Steamboat still couldn't get me in. We went back to urgent care and again they advised me he needed to be seen by my regular vet soon to have bloodwork and xrays. Steamboat could only get me in several weeks later for a drop-in visit. Staff was rude and failed to call me back. I'd drive to Seattle to get him seen asap but fortunately I found 3 other local vets who could get him in immediately. Steamboat is not a clinic I would ever take another pet too and wouldn't recommend them to anyone who cares about their pets.
