We couldn't have had a better time at Cooper River Brewing. Jaime and Gloria were fantastic, and the beer was incredible. Friendly and engaging service, great swag, and fun conversations with the owner. We stayed longer than anticipated and will go back again when we are in town.

Unfortunate to visit another sub par Charleston brewery. The outdoor area is cool, but you can't really see it from the neighboring streets. Hidden spot and difficult to walk to.

What a great place for an afternoon flight. Even with Covid, this brewery has a great outdoor seating area. They even have fire pits! Pet & kid friendly. Their property is pretty well hidden with a fence, so it's nice to sit outside with some privacy from the roads. CRB has a GREAT beer selection! I am more of stout & porter girl, but their Irish Red took me by surprise!! The Nitro did end up winning this round, but I'll be back for more. Bonus points for the really cute flight boards! 4 stars were given, because unfortunately there's a lot of noise from the busy road outside their privacy fence. I know that's not something they can fix, but it might be important to someone else.

Not a fan of my visit to Cooper River Brewing. Boyfriend and I walked in to check this place out about an hour before closing [breweries in Charleston close way too early]. We both got a flight of beer so we could see what Cooper River had to offer. After finishing my flight, I wanted to get a pint before leaving. I thought that my empty flight tray would be a clear indication that I wanted another or was ready to close out but I was wrong. I finally was able to sample a beer and after waiting again I asked the bar-back. I thought that the bar-back was the hardest working one there; unfortunately, he was too young to serve beer so he took my order and let the bartender know that I was ready for round 2. The beer was okay, nothing really stood out to me. I liked the Strong Ale, Stout, Porter and Watermelon Wheat Why the 2-star rating? There was a guy behind the bar drinking, I am going to assume it was one of the owners, serving up beers to all of his friends. I noticed that he had a bit of an attitude with others behind the bar which I did not like. If you are behind the bar during business hours, you are working and he did not once come over to see if I needed anything. If you are there drinking, stay out from behind the bar and let your bartenders do their job.

Finding this place is going to be the first task... It's right where Rutledge Ave begins at the very north of the peninsula. Then you take right turns --like they are going out of style-- and it is tucked away before the dead end on Mechanic St. (Not the dead-end bridge though, drive-by that...) Anyway, as far as breweries go, this has some promising aspects. It's more like a bar, so that prevents your friend's veto vote who doesn't like anything but perfect weather for brewery visits. It's also, technically, on the peninsula. The taproom is long and narrow which has large windows looking into the brewery space. All good things. How about the beer? The beer isn't bad. I feel as if they played it safe. It's not too adventurous, which means it could appeal to a larger audience... All the beers I tried were smooth--which is important--but to a craft beer guy I would prefer more complexity. I will say their I-IPA was the best there even though I'm not a big IPA fan. Probably important to take into account they just opened, and more experimentation is in the works. I'll stay tuned...

Scottish red ale, so smooth and good.

Been wanting to check out Cooper River Brewing for a while, finally stopped by one Sunday afternoon. Hidden in a warehouse area of upper Charleston peninsula, but finally found it. The interior was just as expected, bar and area for drinking and the actual brewery was on other side of windows. Took a minute to get beers ordered, but they were worth it. My eyes spotted the Scottish Red Ale and I had to have it. Loved it, very drinkable, low ibu, with a slight sweet finish. We also enjoyed the Golden Ale and my husband liked the Watermelon Wheat. Nice atmosphere here, & while here we ran into another Yelper who was enjoying his Sunday afternoon too. CRBC has a decent menu of beers, and I appreciate a place that has good selection of ales & stouts and is not so IPA focused. Nice brewery with good beer, Charleston has another good one for all to enjoy.

The beer has greatly improved since the first time we visited about a year ago. If a brewery continues to work to improve with each batch, I'll always support. The IPA is wonderful and I also like their orange infused beer for a lighter choice. They frequently have live music and food trucks. It is by the bridge to no where and by a warehouse and you have to pull all the way into the parking lot before you even see signs of a brewery. Inside is a large bar and a few tables with glass windows to the brewery. Outside picnic tables are setup for nice days.

Using Yelp app I stumbled across this local brewery in Charleston (Thanks Yelp!). Amazing local brewery! I am a Fan (However Google Maps took me the long way around (got lost and had to find it manually) to get to this place but was worth it once I arrived). Pros: Great local craft beer Amazing staff Pet Friendly Parking is easy they have a lot Good local band playing Wood Fired Pizza Truck out front. Off the beaten path for sure. Cons: Since I am normally in town during the week, I would like to see them open more during the week so I can enjoy more beers with them! Overall: One of my favorite local breweries in Charleston! I definitely will be coming back to visit whenever I'm in town. If you are in the area you should visit as well!

Kudos to a here-unnamed beertender who generously spared me social ostracism after I inadvertently crashed a private party during the Christmas holiday season - just waltzed on in and ordered a beer. Said beer already having been poured, he shepherded me to an out of the way spot on the patio to enjoy it. The Black IPA was well worth the social risk. Great beer, awesome logo, home of the beertender of the year.

Week 3 and Cooper River is well on its way to becoming a Charleston brewery staple. Place is super busy already and, according to the staff, has been since opening night, despite the off-the-beaten path location in N Charleston. Why? They are making great beers in a great space! Locals are definitely supporting the business, which is awesome! I tried all the beers and they were all very good. My favorite was the Black IPA, which doesn't at all taste like a Black IPA-- more like a well-hopped brown ale-- but it's definitely worth trying if you like a well balanced IPA. Their golden ale is also well above average for an extensively drinkable golden. I love the yeasty finish - and rank it up there for a great go-to, lighter beer, despite my preference for IPAs and strong ales. These guys are churning new brews out weekly, so come in and see what they're up to! Games are also playing on the TVs (on mute) with perfect-level GREAT indie music playing in the background: makes for a great atmosphere at the long, wooden bar that brings us drinkers together in unity. Come try these guys out: I think they're definitely here to stay!

At first glance, everything looks great. It's very clean and there is ample seating. They even have food brought in from local businesses or food trucks. Blink and things change a bit. The beer is less than par. I tried their two most popular beers and they were simple and without flavor. I'm all for second chances but the first impression wasn't great.

Golden Ale is up my alley. Chill atmosphere. It's off the beaten path, not many people here. I played a game of darts and drank some beer.
