We started going to Coopers when it first opened and it was delicious. We asked about Keno and the owner said he doesn't want that type of stuff in his restaurant. Ok, that's fine. After several times there, the food started getting worse. Also, some of the wait staff do not write down orders and they come out wrong, which is super annoying. One time during COVID, my husband and I went in. A couple walked in shortly after us and didn't have masks on. The owner was like, you need masks. They said that they thought the masks were lifted in most places. And he said no so they left. A few min later, a group of guys came in with no masks and he went up to them and said, come on in. Ok, you just turned away a nice couple but you're going to left these 5 guys in with no masks??? The couple came back with masks on and he did seat them. But that really rubbed me the wrong way. Hypocrisy at its finest. I haven't been back. Not going to support that type of place. read more

Stopped in for breakfast/brunch on a Sunday. We were warmly greeted by the owner who took the time to chat with us for a bit as we placed our drink orders and started looking at the menu. My son and I both ordered the breakfast quesadilla and my husband ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy. We were all pleasantly surprised with the large portions of food. The quesadillas were full and very tasty. They had great flavor and the pico de gallo was super fresh! They were served with a side of breakfast potatoes and an orange slice. My husband cleaned his plate and said his was perfect. We looked at the rest of the menu for the lunch and dinner options and decided we would definitely be back very soon to try out more of their options. This is an absolute jewel hidden in a strip shopping center in Edgewater, Maryland. I routinely order gin martinis on the rocks at restaurants, but this one is the best I've had in ten years. And then it got better. The food selection is outstanding and the choices my wife and I made were phenomenal. The place was packed, on a Friday afternoon; apparently the locals are all in on the secret that this place rocks. If you are within 20 miles, it is worth detouring to this restaurant. Inexpensive. The restaurant has been refreshed and the food is delicious! The only recommendation is to build a screen between the restaurant and the bar. So GOOD! Everything was great - food, service, atmosphere. We had the surf & turf burger, wedge salad, and the tavern skillet. So delicious - all of them. The skillet had gravy which made it extra yummy. The burger and fries were also way above and beyond. And the portions were huge. Kina was our server - nice and attentive. This missed the mark for me. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn't great. I'd honestly give it 2.5 stars if I could. When we arrived it was 6:45 and we walked in they were very busy, which I took as a positive sign. That was fleeting when another party that was waiting to be sat informed us that they were 4th in line and no one had been over to check in with them or be greeted. We stood at the door for 15 minutes waiting for someone to check in with us. It seemed that there was one male server running around handling most everything. He was bussing, running food and drinks, serving people and seating. There were two other female servers and they were serving what seemed to be the majority of the tables. It was chaotic at best. Which leads me to the environment or ambiance or lack there of...is it a bar, is it a mid scale restaurant....is it a family place...a sports bar...I wasn't sure. The noise level was high and there was nothing to absorb any noise. Then the decor was very much conservative leaning and not very inclusive feeling, which maybe is what they're going for, as the patrons were primarily white males, or white males and their female partners. Now onto the food; we ordered the nachos to start with blackened chicken. The chicken was not as flavorful as I would expect for it being blackened, the chicken also had a strange chewy texture and was luke warm upon arrival, the chips tasted as though they had been microwaved and overall it was a 6.5 out of 10 for me. Definitely didn't warrant the price tag. Then for mains we ordered the Mac and cheese burger with fries and the pickle burger and fries. The burgers overall were good, cooked as asked, the components complimented one another, the bun was really delicious and toasted to perfection. The burgers were the star of the show in this meal earning a 8.5 out of 10, definitely worth the price. The fries were the worst part of the meal. Their natural, hand cut fries, but they were soggy, limp and unappetizing at best...we didn't eat them and they went in the trash. Overall, the service was slow, but pleasant. Unfortunately, we're unlikely to return the food quality just doesn't warrant the price tag for me. read more

So disappointed! This was our go to spot for happy hour. The food is good and we loved the atmosphere. Not anymore. A few weeks ago we thought that we were being overcharged for drinks. We let it go that night. On Friday we decided to keep our own tally. Sure enough they charged us for more drinks than we received. When we asked our server about it she was very rude. We came here for lunch after shopping. The place is nice, bigger than it looks from the outside. I ordered a bowl of the chili, it was below average..mostly beans and no flavor. It did come with fresh tortilla chips which were good. We also ordered the fried pickles, those were good and came with a chipotle ranch, very good!. I also ordered the chicken cheesesteak but it was so dry, and barely any cheese. I put Mayo and the leftover chipotle ranch on it to try and help out the dryness. The fries were decent. My husband ordered the boneless wings and out of everything, they were by far the best thing ordered! You could tell they were handmade, the Buffalo sauce was on point-not your typical Buffalo sauce, it had a bit of a peppery taste to it which we both really liked! My husband said the blue cheese was really good too! For the quality of the food, we were disappointed to pay close to $100 for lunch. The prices seem high. A perfectly poached egg has come to be a rarity lately for some reason - dunno if the kitchens around here are rushing, if it's become a generally lost art, or what. Here? PERFECT. Husb got the barrel rolls, which were essentially breakfast egg rolls, deep fried to perfection. We got mimosas as well (they're bottomless for $15 with an entree, so that's dope). The atmosphere is relaxing with cool grey walls and a small stage for live music. During happy hour appetizers are half off and the food is great!! Their daily specials in general are wonderful -- we went during happy hour and on taco night (Tuesday)! Doyle is one of the bartenders -- he was friendly and makes a great margarita. Was giving this place a second shot, eventhough many local friends and neighbors advised otherwise. However, the location is very convenient. Waitress was passive aggressive, which was very interesting. I'm not sure I've experienced this anywhere before. The food was fine, except my Caesar salad was caked with parmesean cheese. I tried to remove it and it just wasn't working. I don't ever send food back... but I just felt like I was eating spoons of parmesean. I told the waitress and she offered to make another, but my family was pretty much done so I opted to pass. She made a noise when walking away, which I also paid no mind to....except that then the manager came over and basically warned me that he would take the salad off this time but they wouldn't do it if I came in again. Was there yesterday for brunch. Lady that sat us was very nice but waitress that served us seemed distracted. Ordered waffles with strawberries. Plate comes out without strawberries and when I asked was told "we're out of strawberries". 2 eggs on my plate over medium; was never asked how I wanted my eggs. Everything on my plate lukewarm but at least the coffee was hot. My wife's order comes out wrong but they took it back and remade it fairly quickly. The scrapple on her order was pretty burnt and she did not eat it. When we got up to leave, my plate was still pretty full with the eggs, scrapple and a small bowl of blueberries and melon untouched. This place has many good reviews so possibly we caught them on a bad day but we will not be back. read more
