Great restaurant centered on fresh local sea fare! Interior has a coastal, nautical vibe that feels upscale yet homey. Dining is separated into a bar room (with full table service and a stage for performers), a main dining area and an upstairs space. Menu is standard American with many seafood choices (grilled fishes, crab cakes) as well as meat and vegetarian options (pasta, steak, ect). We happened to come during Annapolis restaurant week, which allows you an appetizer, entree and dessert for $42 (only the ones listed on their RW menu). My companion decided on the lobster bisque, grilled halibut and lemon creme brûlée. I had the crispy fish Sammie (regular menu). The lobster bisque was velvety and thick with tender chunks of lobster and not heavy. The fish was flaky and tender, with hints of lemon over roasted Brussel sprouts. The dessert (not pictured) had a soft creamy custard texture with hints of lemon, topped by caramelized crunchy sugar shell. The fish sandwich was a barramundi filet fried and put in a brioche bun with bacon jam, remoulade and arugula. The remoulade had a nice kick. The fish was very fresh and has a great crunchy breaded exterior. The fries that accompanied the dish were also very good (generous portion). Service was impeccable and attentive. read more

You walk in and see the tasteful venture capitalist loyalty program sign and you think "uh oh," but it's 95° outside and you just wanna eat before you get too sick from the heat, so you go ahead... Don't. Go with your gut. This is my first time in Annapolis in almost 30 years, so I don't have an alternate recommendation. But turn around. Luckily we just got apps. The Flaming Crab Dip was a pipette of something squirted on tableside, lit with a cigarette lighter, and immediately blown out - not sure what everyone is raving about. Thick cheese makes it hard to eat, and there's no seasoning or crab to be found. Ahi Tuna was mall-sushi quality, obviously frozen. The accompanying avocado fries were unseasoned, but not bad once we added Old Bay. Maryland Crab soup was absolutely inedible. I'm kind of glad they don't season anything, because enough Old Bay could've covered up the taste of something rancid. We didn't complain because, well, obviously they don't care. A friends-for-decades reunion party of nine on a Tuesday, 5-12-26. Several had just completed a five hour drive within the previous two hours. We were seated at 5:45 pm. Food: crab soup, ordered by three people, was too salty to eat. Big disappointment. Swapped out for French Onion, also very salty, but was eaten. One entree of braised short ribs, recommended by server, was too salty to eat. Returned for other entree selection. Fiery Crab Dip and Nan chips - a big hit. Fish Tacos and beet salad also a big hit., as was Rockfish (2 orders) . We passed on dessert for Ice Cream at another local spot. Service: private party room with a circular table worked great for our group. Our server was personable, and efficient. When asked if she recommended the braised short ribs over another entree, she said short ribs all the way (likely without tasting them on this night's service. Same for the crab soup). Ambiance: See above, private room was nice for conversation. Not thrilled that Blackwall's policy is a maximum of 4 credit / debit cards accepted per party. Our party consisted of 4 couples & 1 solo. Should not have been difficult to process four cards specific for each couple, and one for the individual. Instead, the bill was divided onto four cards, tip included. The individual worked a side deal and was covered on one of the four cards- with repayment worked out between them. This policy is perhaps beneficial to Blackwall's, but off-putting enough that, (all agreed), our next reunion will not be a return visit to Blackwall Hitch. Interestingly, when we left, near 8 pm, there were less than 30 patrons in the restaurant, including the bar. Running a fifth credit card would not have inconvenienced the establishment or other customers. read more

Went for Sunday brunch and in my opinion, this spot needs to be renovated. The furniture is old, worn and broken. The host tried to seat us at a table that was unsteady. They tried putting napkins under the table, but that didnt work. When i asked to bve seated at another table, they were hesitant to do it, even though i asked several times. NOT GOOD. The food was average at best, but very pricey. I would expect better service and food for the price they charge. Lastly......they have live music by the bar area. VERY LOUD......i noticed several guests asking to be moved away from the loud music. Would have been better if they cut the volume down a few notches......Don't think i will be visiting this spot again for brunch.... read more

Came here for a graduation dinner with a group of 20 on Saturday around 2pm. We had a private room with preset menu options. The atmosphere is a balance of relaxed yet upscale. The decor was warm and inviting. This restaurant is perfect for Whether for a casual meal or a special night out, the ambiance fits perfectly for both. The menu offers a good variety of different food options for everyone even for kids. The service was also really good, the wait staff were very pleasant, attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. I had the Maryland crab soup for my first course which was my least favorite. I expected it to be more crab based and flavor but tomato broth dominated the soup instead. Entree, I had the creole rigatoni which was delicious 9/10. The sauce was great and everything was perfectly seasoned. The portion size was good and the meal filing, Dessert, I had the cheesecake which was very mid. Could have done without it. I recently visited Blackwall Hitch for brunch with a friend on her birthday. We went on a Sunday morning when the restaurant first opened at 10:00 am. We were one of the first ones to arrive. What we didn't realize is that you needed a reservation for Sunday brunch. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us with a table in the bar area which also happened to be where all the food was set up. Score! I guess for some, that may not be the most ideal seating because there could potentially be a lot of commotion in the area when people are getting their food. We were perfectly fine. Once we were seated, a server came by to ask if we wanted any other drinks besides water and then we were free to go grab food. The brunch at Blackwall Hitch is set up buffet style. They have a great spread, including an omelet station and carving station. Waffles were also freshly made. They had all the breakfast goods, including grits, bacon, french toast, and breakfast potatoes. They also had a fish of the day and a cold seafood display. There was a chocolate fountain and a nice dessert display as well. Sadly, I was too full for any dessert or pastries as I went for all the food. A diner at a table next to us raved about their blueberry muffins. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Blackwall Hitch. This is actually a place that was on my "to try" list when I was living in Maryland. I'm glad I finally got the chance to check it out. read more

I met up with a girlfriend in Annapolis and decided to try Blackwall Hitch, especially since I had a free appetizer coupon from their sister restaurant from my birthday back in May. It was the perfect excuse to check out a new spot! The location is great; it's close to downtown, the pier, and other attractions. They offer free parking, which is a nice bonus. We arrived after brunch ended at 3 PM. Our server was friendly and recommended the Flaming Crab Dip, and since I love anything with crab, I decided to try it. When she brought it out, she poured a liquid over the dip and tried to light it, but unfortunately, it didn't ignite. When I asked, she mentioned it was garlic butter. From the name (and later photos online), it's clear it was supposed to actually flame. Presentation-wise, it looked okay, but not as impressive as advertised. The dip itself was just average. We shared a Caprese pizza, which sadly wasn't hot. We were seated near the kitchen and noticed it sitting under the warmer for a bit before being served. It had good flavor, but would've been much better hot. Overall, the service was pleasant, and the setting was decent, but the food didn't quite meet expectations this time. I'd give it another try for brunch or dinner, hoping for a bit more consistency next visit. read more

We were given a private room with a large table--perfect for my toddler to move around without disturbing other guests. Our drinks came out quickly, and the food was absolutely delicious. We went back to Blackwall Hitch in Annapolis last night to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. We had our rehearsal dinner there last year so it was really special to come back. Our waitress Porsche' was wonderful, friendly and attentive the whole night. We shared the flaming crab dip to start, then I had the rockfish stuffed with crabmeat and my husband had the crab cakes. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. It made for a great anniversary dinner and we will definitely keep coming back for all occasions or "just because" date nights when we are in the area. read more

Was able to get a table right away on a Friday night.. It seemed pretty busy, but the manager was super nice and squeezed us in. We were sat in the bar area where they had live music playing. That was really nice. We ordered an Arnold Palmer that was really yummy. The vibe was super cool. It took a bit of time to be waited on, but we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. My son ordered the burger and fries and we ordered seafood. The scallop and shrimp risotto was amazing. We also ordered the lobster shrimp bisque, which was really great . This place was pretty good. It's not directly in downtown Annapolis, which makes it great for not being stuck in traffic. They do have ample parking and it's on the corner of a street. The best part about this location is the venue both downstairs and upstairs. We decided to do rooftop dining. The rooftop is a little tight and you do have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the rooftop, but it's quaint and in the summertime shaded and in the fall, still protected from the elements. The wait staff was a little bit slower than if you ate downstairs. However, they were very accommodating and apologetic when we needed to wait for our drinks to come. We ordered a Caesar salad, which was great dressing wasn't too heavy. And we ordered calamari and wings. The espresso martini was pretty good. It's more on the dark side than the creamy side. And the prices were great for being a place that serves both bar food but also entrées that fill you up. If you are looking for a great place to hang out with nice company where everybody is friendly this local Restaurant is a great place to get your feet wet in downtown Annapolis. read more

I went on a date yesterday to Blackwall Hitch in Annapolis. Last time I visited this location was maybe 4-5 yrs ago. This location is beautiful on the inside, aesthetically pleasing and clean. Our server was Jayden. He was very personable and attentive. He took great care of us and explained the whole menu over with his recommendations. We went with four of his recommendations and they did not disappoint. The lavender French 75 was so refreshing and I love butterfly Pea so I was excited to try. One of his other recommendations was the crab dip for an appetizer and crab stuffed rockfish for dinner. They both were amazing. One comment on the rockfish, I feel like it was a tad overcooked. I also replaced the rice & corn with their Brussels sprouts. It was soooo amazing! The Brussels sprouts at Blackwall still remain some of the best I ever had. The sauce they come in is so good! For dessert, we both had the cookie dough espresso martinis Jayden also recommended. They were surprisingly good. I def got the hints after each sip. I throughly enjoyed my time at Blackwall. I can't wait to dine again. It will definitely be sooner than years later this go around. read more

Love the nautical decor. It is tastefully done. Lots of options on the menu and I opted for the mahi-mahi tacos with plantain chips. Very tasty. Nice balance of flavors and a great cook on the fish. Our first time to this Blackwall location and we found it merely okay. The interior design is the same beautiful layout and theme as the others, but there was a very funky smell wafting through every minute or so. Since it was intermittent, I presumed it was in the kitchen and some floor drain was backed up or something else wet and nasty smelling. The food was pretty good, but not great. A surprise compared to our experiences at other Blackwall sites. Somewhat surly and unengaged servers were also a surprise, particularly since it wasn't very busy for a Saturday night. Maybe 20-25% of seats were full. There are SO many great restaurants in Annapolis to choose from--Blackwall Hitch needs to step up their game. read more

The food was underwhelming overall. The lobster bisque, in particular, had a thick, processed texture that resembled cheese sauce more than a traditional bisque. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal did not stand out either. We were also surprised to find that there was a limited Valentine's Day menu, which was not disclosed at the time we made our reservation. Given the occasion and our previous positive experiences at other locations, we expected a much higher standard. I wish I knew the servers name cause she was the best. It was late on a weeknight and we were a party of about 10, but the service was amazing and food was good too. To start, the crab dip is a must. Maryland style, absolutely delicious. The brussels sprouts were great too -- the pancetta really makes it. The French onion soup was also a favorite of mine! I wasn't super hungry after apps, so ended up ordering a salad which was just standard. The drink list is nice as well. Definitely a great spot if you have a large party. read more

Great place to eat. Previously I had only tried their brunch and a few other times I cannot remember when they first opened up. Complete 180 from their initial menu at their Gambrills location and it is indeed working. A few positives at this place include easy parking, high chairs and booster seats, friendly service and ample space. We ran it up pretty good here...came out with a $300 bill but we indeed had a party of 5.5 and everyone was satisfied so I didn't feel as bad about swiping my card. Few notes to consider...the kids meals do not come with drinks...the calamari appetizer can be shared with 4....the side house salad is indeed enough for 2 individuals. If you have kids....3pm on Sunday was relatively low traffic. Liam our server did a the best he could with our group.
