I have been a PE teacher, coach and avid softball player as well as baseball fan. Visiting CDP was…read morefabulous. The park itself is spotless. The concession stands which were much needed and used, were considerably priced. The transporters to and from fields were personable and happy to provide service which always left positive conversation while in route. Even the gift shop was reasonably priced. Seeing my nephew happy and in his place of comfort was worth every minute and penny spent. When I asked him if he felt like a professional due to the beauty of each field his answer was yes. I asked him what else made it so special and his answer was " it is beautiful to be on a nice field and be able to see the mountains and clouds above." A simple statement with depth and gratitude. We waited for two hours for the opening ceremonies (rain), and it was worth every minute. As an educator and coach, children need to be reminded of the importance of the flag and what freedom means. We as adults need those reminders as well as we all become complacent and can use grounding. I thought the opening ceremonies were exceptional. Another wonderful part of this week was conversing with Linda Presutti. She has a warmth that is loving and compassionate. Even though it was an emotional week for her she made it a point to seek me out during our elimination game. I will treasure the attached photo of her and my nephew and I will never forget this beautiful week. It really was baseball heaven. I am grateful for Linda and Lou for touching millions of lives. Hoping that the happiness experienced here by each player can be played forward by each of them to carry on Coach Lou Presutti's legacy and make this world a better place.

The only thing that was semi edible was the pizza and it was cold. Such a waste, especially since they do not want you to bring in outside food. But their food is just horrible and very expensive.

For the most part, the trails are well maintained, although I do think the trail markings/signage could be clearer. I started at the kiosk trail head and the first turnoff for the trail can be easy to miss(in fact, I did.) The initial part of the trail is nice dark gravel, but it veers into a field where the trail is just a mown path and the sign for the turnoff is an unassuming post with orange and green squares on it tucked back into the growth. Also at one point off the blue loop, I ended up in a strange area with farm equipment with a sign posted about private property. So I turned back to the loop. I never even saw how to get to the white or red trails. So what I saw was nice but I'd like to come back and try to find what I missed. Maybe I'm just hopelessly directionally challenged. I did take a picture of the map at the trailhead but still found parts confusing. I saw a fox following the paths several times, which was pretty exciting:) There was a pool, playground and community garden but I didn't really check those out.

This is a gorgeous state park on the northeast edge of Otsego Lake. My wife, two teenage sons (15…read moreyrs, 13 yrs), and I came here with our miniature poodle for a quick visit during a 4-night stay in Sharon Springs, NY. We came here every day to enjoy the lovely view of the lake, take a leisurely stroll with the dog, and spend an afternoon fishing (for my 15 year old son). It's about a 15-20 minute drive from Cooperstown along the east shore. At the main entrance, you'll pay a $7 admission fee per vehiecle, or you can just show your NY State Parks Empire Pass card. This is a gem of a park that is well worth the price of admission. First, it feels open and spacious with nice hiking trails. Second, the view of Lake Otsego is lovely. You may see a few kayakers or windsurfers on the lake depending on weather conditions. If you have young children, this is a must-visit place as there are kid-friendly playgrounds. Third, the lake is shallow and calm by the beach, but the water temperature can feel a bit chilly. In the summer, they have lifeguards available starting at 11:00am. Finally, the park has a concession stand which sells basic snacks, hot dogs, and drinks. It's also worth it to take a short walk up the hill to see Hyde Hall and the view of the lake from there!

Going uphill there is a good sized playground, tennis courts, and basketball courts (admittedly often overgrown). From the playground to the courts the park road is blocked to vehicle traffic. On the upper area is an outdoor community pool, a parking lot, and an outdoor gym set up. Then there's also blocked off lower and upper roads encircling a hill and a small field, which look so quaint I always picture Bilbo Baggins living there. The views of the city the pool area and the top field are magnificent, and benches invite you to stay for a while to enjoy it (or maybe catch your breath from walking there). Schiller has two access points to park by car (Farmer St- lower, Oak St- upper) and plenty of access by foot. I've spent many many visits exploring the different paths of Schiller. It's a park which feels very much at the center of it's community, a touch rough on some edges, but very beautiful.

We wanted to go down by the play equipment, but the road is closed off the vehicles. We were able to leave the park and drive around the corner and park in a lower parking lot which is near the baseball diamond. There was one lone table near a building called the recreation center, and it was in a little gazebo. Kids enjoyed the play equipment. It must have been installed or upgraded very recently as it was very new 8/2015. There are two areas one for smaller kids 2-5 and one for larger kids 5-12. There is one small table in each of the kids areas which has a cover and provides shade during the hot summer months when kids are out playing.
