This place is overpriced and has a very manipulative contract. When I tried cancelling last month, I was told I would have to do it earlier than 7 days before the end of the month. That person was either lying or explaining it in a very confusing way, because today I was told the notice must be given over 30 days(!) ahead of time. He tried to convince me to 'freeze' my account for $5 per month in order to avoid the new membership fee in the future, but the problem with that is that memberships can't be cancelled while an account is frozen, so if the member decided to not come back, he/she would have to pay for another entire month just in order to cancel. It's a very shady policy. Never going back. read more

So your self a favor stay far away from this location! They are rude and not helpful. Go to the tanning spot in hermosa instead they have professional staff, a nice facility and great beds there. I'm so glad that all my credits have run out for this location. I used to tan at another one that closed and was way nicer. I will never return here I'm updating this review because I went to another location since I still had points and Jeff was amazing unlike Nolan. as I left I received a message from Wayne the CEO apologizing for my experience and helping me to better understand what Nolan didn't fully explain. He even offered something to win me back as a customer to which I explained he has already done by hiring employees like Jeff and by him actually caring about my experience. Just had a tan cocktail at this location. I am from out of town and couldn't get into my regular place at home. They had a nice selection of beds and spray tan machines. My 5 star review was mainly based on the excellent customer service from Acacia the girl who worked there who went out of her way to explain everything in detail and make sure i had the best experience possible. It was a lot more expensive than i am used to so just be aware of that. I don't mind paying more especially for a special occasion. I have to admit, I have been going to tanning salons for a while. But usually just to get a base tan before I go on vacation. I went back to this location, and found it to be redecorated in a very nicely done interior. They have painted it a very nice soothing color, some shelves with nick nacks, etc. And gone are the cheesy tanning posters, pricelists, specials signage, etc. Even the tanning lotion products have been stored away. They have both tanning beds and the Mystic Spray tan booths. But since I was in need of a good base, I got an Orbit bed. The staff guided me to a bed with newer bulbs and provided suggestions for time duration. I have been a few times now and the base is coming along quite nicely - and not really red. read more

Special props to Natalie who works there, since day one she has always been fabulous in teaching me new things about how to get the best tan even though I thought i knew it all. I did my research (or tried to) before coming in. I needed a spray tan in a pinch. I came in right when they opened only to have a wait because the machine was broken, which is understandable. There were no prices posted inside the store and not really on there website either. I finally found a price somewhere that it would $39. Which is a little pricey in my opinion but not terrible. I go to pay for the spray tan and it comes out to be $59 for one time, almost as if she just made that number up. I brought a coupon that I found online and tried to use, only to be told it wouldn't work because it wasn't printed out even though I had it on my phone. I walked out and left. read more

I tried this out while being in the plaza for other errands and the gentleman was so enthusiastic and friendly to all clients coming in. I was new to spray tanning and he took the time to easily explain the basic 101 on what I needed to do. He gave me a great promotional price; a 2 for 1 & it was so awesome. I went there for the first time today and decided to use one of those expensive sunbeds with air conditioning and everything, but to be honest I haven't noticed any difference in my skin color. I mentioned it right when I finished (specially because 12 minutes cost me $49,50) because as a brunette I get tanned very easily...but the attendant said "it usually doesn't show right away" which is weird. I'm not a big fan of sunbeds anyway, so I probably won't be back. read more

This 5-star review is solely for Natalie who really would be the only reason to frequent this location. If she isn't working I've been pressured to buy memberships that I won't use, upgrade to services I don't need or encountered employees who are too busy on personal phone calls or just all-around obviously annoyed that they have to be at work that they couldn't care less to use the data in a person's account or remember them to give them the service that is best for them. Natalie will remember you and what you like and also make sure that the service(s) you're getting are what you need and not try to over-sell you. I am beyond mad. I had a surgery in March 2016 so I had to put my membership on hold. They charge $5 per month to freeze the account which is fine. Well I ended up having two more surgeries and so the last 11 months I have not been able to tan and I have yet another surgery coming up in two months. So since I will not be able to tan for the foreseeable future I asked the manager if I could just cancel my membership since I have already paid them $60 over the year in freeze payments. I told them I have been on disability since my last surgery I just had in Feb and cannot afford something I haven't even used in a year. The managers response is No, you have to unfreeze your account and pay the pro rate for the month and you have to fill out paperwork to cancel the account and it takes 30 days. So I haven't tanned in 12 months and gave them $60 during that time and now I have to pay not only a pro rated amount but an additional whole month of $69???? Are you kidding me? I am making $240 a week on disability and it's not even enough to cover my bills. Thieves and horrible management! You can't even make an exception for someone who has had multiple surgeries and is having more. You're heartless!!! :( read more

DONT COME TO THIS PLACE! Horrible customer service! I purchased a second groupon "my bad" and tried to redeem it here. First talking to a man and being told with major attitude that I should have read the tiny words that I had to be a new customer. Ok fine that makes sense. I explained to him, my last groupon I used one time because the bed was so outdated and gross I never came back to use the rest of the month and I thought I would at least try for a spray tan. He said I could get a refund through groupon or use the $ I spent on the groupon towards a spray service if I wanted. Well by that time, I had enough of his flamboyant I'm better than you attitude so I left. Today I made an appt thinking I will just use the balance of the groupon towards a spray and the gal whom is the manager Chrissy I think said that isn't possible. When I explained to her what happened. Her answer was "there is no guy that works here, there never has been, I'm the manager, I know" my reply" your name must be Chrissy cuz I asked him for your number, I have it. She said " he would never give it to you, what is it then. Proof they are a lying swindling business with rude management! No wonder there are so many bad reviews. And look at the horrible responses back by the owner. It goes to show who your dealing with! Spend a lil more money or drive a mile more and enjoy your tan. Read his response. Perfect example! So, this is probably the worst review I've ever given anywhere and I am a pretty reasonable person especially if I can see the logic into how I could be in the wrong but not for this company. I read the bad reviews and felt "well I'll just be smarter than that guy" well, let me tell you I've been taken advantage of by this company and the policy's that can change to the will of who is In charge. Sum up this salon, So here it is: 1-No refunds, even if the employee made a mistake, offer more tanning in replacement. 2-allergic reaction to the bed leaving me with bumps on the backs of my arms which I had mentioned to the girl in charge and she said " oh I'm sorry" no knowledge of assisting the situation. 3-sales girl "sold" me a tanning lotion and made me feel tricked and obligated to buy the lotion, As if I didn't she would get in trouble As she already input the item As part of my sale, yet she hadn't ran my card. 4-The sales girl said "sign up with our monthly service for this price and when you decide to cancel just come in the week of the first of the month not a problem", well guess what happened I come in on the 3rd of September and the NEW manager training a NEW employee says I'm sorry for the confusion but you cannot cancel today it had to be on the "first", And it does not cancel for this month or the next it wouldn't be until the first of November and I need you to sign this contract cancelling the first of November. I WAS LIKE WHAT!? She said the bank takes time to process this information and complete the cancellation "request", in my mind I'm thinking it is a not a request when it comes to my money. I plead with her to make an exception As coming in on the first was not accommodating for my schedule and if she could email her boss with this As I do not plan to tan with them any further due to my allergic reaction to the beds and the cleaner that they use, still she said "no, I don't have the authority I'm sorry". I told her that I would be leaving a Yelp review because I should have listened to the many bad reviews on Yelp. I was taken for an expensive ride that told me my hands were tied, I am left with such a Terrible feeling and if you feel like handing your money over to them and supporting a business that doesn't support the customers, than the best of luck but I like a good healthy tan in a place that you can trust the staff and the integrity of the ownership at the top. read more

Here's a little back story (which will lead to my reason for writing this review today) Last year (yes I know it's been a while) my husband bought me a gift certificate for 5 spray tans for a valentines day gift (no expiration date). I used 4 of them. Between then & now, I was pregnant & had my 2nd child (4 months ago). I'm going to Vegas Thursday & remembered I had 1 remaining spray. So I thought perfect!! I called this morning to double check that I still had 1 left & the employee confirmed it to be true. So I ran a few errands before actually heading over. I get there & was greeted & asked what I would like. So I told her I was her for a spray tan. She than looked me up & asked me if I would like the level 3 like the last times so I agreed. Than immediately after that she told me that I don't have enough points for a level 3. So now I'm confused. Points?? What do you mean by points?? She than explains to me that my gift certificate was only good for 5 level 2 spray tans & since I came 4 times & got level 3 sprays the last 1 no longer exists due to insufficient points. At this point I'm extremely upset for a couple reasons. One, I called beforehand to check if I had a tan left & the employee said I did. She should have told me while on the phone with me instead of me wasting my time. Definitely would've saved me a trip as well as paying a babysitter so I could actually go. Another thing is than when I would go get my previous spray tans, I was always asked which level I would like. I would always say the darkest. If my gift certificate was for a level 2 than they shouldn't have asked me OR they should have explained this whole points thing than. I've worked in customer service 10+ years & I feel that the employee that was there today could've done more to help me out. She tried to sell me 5 more for $75 but I turned that down. Especially since they're having a deal on groupon right now 5 spray tans for $35. I was considering purchasing that but I don't even want to give my business anymore. read more

I've had the best experience from the sweet front girl named Griselda! She's always welcoming ( I don't ever think I've come a crossed her not smiling ) attentive and extremely helpful. I've been to other locations , I live in Santa Monica so this one is a bit out of the way, but completely worth the trek because of the excellent customer service that this young women has provided me. I've been in before when it's been extremely busy and she continually keeps her calm, remains professional and genuinely offers the best service to her ability! I would probably be either ghostly white , have horrible tan lines from laying out or given up all hope of being bronze had it not be for this place and the prodigious environment that is displayed by considerable customer service! This place is pretty good. I was previously going to California Sun in Northern California, and this place doesn't compare :( however they do have good pricing and deals when you sign up. Biggest turn-off.... how pushy some of the girls are when you come in. They want you to sign up for a membership right away. I just wanted to try out the beds first to make sure I like them! I did decide to sign up because of the good pricing, but I did it with the owner or manager, I'm not sure which one she is, because she was more interested in giving me good service than trying to make some commission off of me!
