Such an amazing experience at Copenhagen Corner! My mother-in-law and I came in for lunch and truly couldn't say enough good things about this place. It's a wonderful family-owned business, and you can immediately feel how warm and welcoming everyone is. My mother-in-law is Swedish, so she absolutely loved getting to speak with the owners and have a little taste of home. It made the whole experience so special for her! I also had my 7-month-old daughter with us, and everyone was so sweet with her and had her smiling the entire time. And of course, the food was AMAZING! I feel like everything we ordered was very good including the sides. Lots of unique flavors and very freshly made. It's a small restaurant specializing in food from Denmark and regional cuisine from a mix of other countries. The meat balls and gravy were great. Regarding ambiance it's quite a charming little restaurant, l like the flowers on the table. The open layout and kitchen makes it a little noisy. But overall a nice place to go for a casual lunch or dinner. Mostly inside tables with a few outside. Service was good, plenty of refills for drinks. Tables are very close to each other so you hear your neighbors convo loud and clear. My neighbor was dropping 5 f bombs per sentence, not the best diction. It's a family run business with only husband, wife and daughter working, so it felt like I was visiting someone's house and felt awkward to ask for more water etc. The dad and daughter were making the food. You can see them behind the counter preparing your food, which is cool. The mom brought the food and helped the patrons. Everything was delicious except the gravy and schnitzel were too salty. Open for four years. Tuesday to Saturday 11-8. Everything was plated nicely with detail. Great options. The family is Persian but they used to live in Denmark and now have a restaurant here. The owner was very warm and it was nice to know that you were dining somewhere that really appreciated their customers. I wasn't sure what to order and got the boiled egg and shrimp sandwich. It was served open-faced on dark Danish rye bread, with avocado, tomatoes and a tiny bit of caviar - a simple dish but felt like it was authentic. The breaded cod sandwich, royal omelet with smoked salmon and havarti cheese, and grilled chicken sandwich were all enjoyed. I'm pretty sure they make their own fries from scratch and they are really good - crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy inside. There's only one chef prepping the hot food, so it takes some time to get your order. Their location is somewhat out of the way and I would have never have discovered this place if it wasn't for Yelp. I truly can't get enough of the delicious food at Copenhagen Corner! I tried the Jägerschnitzel (the original pork version), and it was SO GOOD! The Jägerschnitzel crust was so crunchy and perfectly seasoned, while the pork was juicy and tender. The savory mushroom gravy was perfectly prepared and I love the gravy on the side, so it doesn't make the Jägerschnitzel soggy. I paired Chardonnay with this spectacular dish, and it was excellent! The French Fries were tasty and crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside, and the red cabbage was not too sweet or tart, it was just right! As usual, the service is always friendly and personable, and the restaurant was nice and clean with beautiful flowers on the tables. This is my favorite restaurant in Laguna Niguel! read more

I was so skeptical on trying out Scandinavian cuisine. However, my husband and I have agreed that we need to branch out our palette and so I picked this place for our date night. The restaurant is located in a strip mall next to a Montessori school. It was a quaint place that runs by a family. Mom is in the front; dad and daughter are in the back. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. We weren't terribly hungry so we ordered fries and meatballs for appetizers. We got the pork schnitzel for our entree. This restaurant is way off the beaten path in a little strip mall in Laguna Niguel. Hidden gem. That said, the food, service, and ambience speak for itself. It's obviously a family run place with lots of regulars, you really feel like you're having dinner at home here, the food is pure comfort. It so reminded me of dining in small spots in Europe. We started with the pickled herring on rye bread. Personally, this is not a dish that's to my taste-it might be an acquired taste. Nonetheless, it was very well done, the combination of sweet, salty and sour was well executed. The pork meatballs were also very tasty, with good mashed potatoes. I had the lamb shank with mashed potatoes, cooked perfectly tender but not mushy, tasty mash, small portion of three carrots and a little broccoli. The portion was just right. Lentil soup was also good. The pork schnitzel was thin, crispy, and tasty. Service is very personal and friendly, and you could see the owner behind in the kitchen working as chef, and his wife out talking to all the regulars who came in. The daughter helped out bussing the tables. They have seating for about 36 people total. Be sure to make reservations because every table was booked, they turned away several drop-ins while we were there, and they close at 8 pm. If you're looking for simple, approachable food that is well prepared and closer to home cooking than a fancy restaurant, this is your spot. What a wonderful experience . From the warmth of Mona to the luscious lemon macaroni cake we can't wait to return. We both had the schnitzel which was cooked to perfection. We love the cozy feel of this restaurant. I specifically like that the lady is very personal and warm to customers. We ordered the seafoods plate and sampler open face sliders. I'm impressed with the presentation. They all look so pretty. I'm even more impressed with the attention to details: our seafood plate came with a piece of toast. There's a few pieces of lettuce on top of the toast to separate it from the seafood on top, so the toast doesn't get soggy. I love the meatballs slider. Wow is the first thing that comes to mind. It reminds me of one of those smaller restaurants that you might wander into in another country. This was truly one of the best meals in recent memory. The owner was welcoming and took her time telling us about the menu items. She explained that they make everything fresh including the pickles. The only thing deep fried are French fries. We came here as hubby"s craving for Jaeger schnitzel reached a breaking point. He's not been able to get as much since Jagerhaus shut down. I felt bad for him and put away our groceries in favor of dining out that night. This place is located in a small strip mall (far side) and has really cute décor. After we seated ourselves, we were greeted enthusiastically by a server. It sounds like they get a lot of people who come here for the jaeger schnitzel so hubby wasn't alone in his craving. We ended up going with the marinated herring to start. This was ALL hubby. I did try a bite but marinated fish isn't my jam. It was tastier than I expected but I ceded the entire dish to hubby. I myself ordered the tomato bisque which came piping hot, just the way I like it. For entrees, hubby got his jaeger schnitzel and I went with the pork chop special they had that evening. Lovely. We were in need of a better experience food wise for our 22nd anniversary and my better half knew about this Danish place close enough to Crown Valley Pkwy. OK, do not expect a light and airy dining room with white tablecloths and high-end flatware, the place is rather dark and obviously it's all about the menu. We had enough appetite for an appetizer and main course, so chose the smoked salmon on rye bread and the Forloren Hare - Danish Meat Loaf wrapped in bacon, with lingonberry jam, roasted veggies, pickled beets, mashed potatoes, and brown gravy. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and delivered fully on flavor, texture, and also presentation. We did not venture into dessert as we had another place in mind but for genuine Danish fare, this is an awesome destination. Service is personable and friendly, to the point and very little fluff. I normally don't write reviews, but I felt I had to after today's wonderful lunch service. A friend recommended this place, so our party of five decided to check it out. As soon as we walked in, the waitress immediately started putting together a table for us and brought out waters. We were seated in under a minute and given menus right away. The owner was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain all of the specials along with her personal recommendations. The ambience is warm and inviting, and the open kitchen is a great touch because you can see everything being prepared fresh. We started with the daily special appetizer (fried pork belly that came with a delicious homemade creamy parsley sauce), along with the herring and the frikadeller. All three were delicious, and you could tell the frikadeller were genuinely homemade instead of something purchased from a vendor. For entrées, we ordered the daily special rouladen, the bratwurst, and the jaeger schnitzel. The bratwurst was excellent and tasted freshly made. The schnitzel was a generous portion, crispy, well-fried, and not overly heavy. The rouladen was also put together beautifully, and the pickles inside added the right amount of tartness to balance the beef and gravy. I also appreciated that the entrées come with multiple sides at no extra cost, so you definitely leave full. For dessert, we shared the daily Danish special, which was the homemade red berry pudding that was delicious and not too sweet. Before leaving, we noticed their fresh-baked pastries and ended up trying one of each. They were all fantastic, and our server warmed them up for us and added a light caramel and sugar drizzle for presentation. One thing to note is that there was an automatic 18 percent minimum tip included. I am not sure what the exact rule is, but I assume it may be because we were a larger party. It was not an issue, but it is something good to be aware of. The total came out to around two hundred dollars for three appetizers, five entrées, one dessert, and five pastries, so the value is excellent as well. Rainy cold Christmas Eve , but the assigned pick up went smoothly. The restaurant was closed, but still very festive with the open kitchen and the husband and wife owners and their daughter bustling with cooking, greetings and attentive service. We had the Christmas special of pork loin with crackling and the Frikadellar, Danish meatballs, always my favorite. Both were delicious, as were the mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, special potatoes in a tangy sauce, red cabbage.and tangy pickles. By far the best was the brown yummy gravy. I was determined to venture further away from my house to try some new restaurants and came across this place. The menu looked really interesting with a lot of unique items. I had it bookmarked for awhile and then started seeing 5 star reviews from yelp friends so I figured it was time to try it. Lunch and Dinner menu have different items so make sure to read up first to see if you prefer one over the other. All the things I wanted to try were available at lunch so I made a reservation on their website. I recommend doing this since it's a pretty small place and was almost full pretty fast. The restaurant is ran by a family and are the friendliest people who have pride in their restaurant. They had great suggestions and let us know 100% of their dishes are made from scratch even down to the bread. I wanted a sampling of items so I went with the sliders where you get to pick 3 open face sandwiches. I picked the Frikadeller which was Danish pork meatballs with pickled cabbage and cucumbers, the smoked salmon with asparagus, avocado, tomatoes, and dill mustard dressing, and the breaded cod with lemon, avocado, asparagus, and remoulade. First off the rye bread. First bite I was taken aback by the texture and wasn't sure if I liked it. After a few bites I fell in love and couldn't get enough of it. Was dense yet somehow still soft and full of either seeds or nuts, maybe sunflower seeds? Not sure, but by the end of my meal I was sad I finished. My favorite slider was the breaded cod. It looks so simple yet the flavors were so frickin good I pushed it aside and saved it for last. The sauce on it was mind blowing and I will definitely get the cod entree next visit. My second favorite was the smoked salmon followed by the pork meatballs. Both were excellent and you honestly can't go wrong with any of the choices. The meatballs were a bit too sweet with the cabbage and I think needed a more pungent vinegar forward mustard sauce to cut through it. The Danish beer I ordered went great with it. Very light tasting. My wife went with the bratwurst which came with seriously the best tasting housemade saurkraut I've ever tasted along with the sweet purple cabbage, and chunky mashed potatoes. I thought "this seems like a safe item on the menu for people not adventerous". Nope, I was wrong. It was AWESOME. The bratwurst was the best I've had. The casing was crispy and yet the sausage so moist. Huge portion too. I "sampled" probably half a bratwurst and was craving more. She had a generous pour of a Cabernet from Paso Robles with her meal and loved it. At this point I was telling myself "be good, no dessert" until they brought up several trays of danish fresh from the oven. They have small and large size. I tried way too many and have no regrets. Cinnamon, orange, almond, and custard danish. All heavenly but the orange one was my favorite. Bookmark this place right now and go the first chance you can. It's worth the trip. read more

A true hidden gem in Orange County and one I quickly am becoming a regular at. Quaint, cozy, delicious, authentic, open kitchen and family owned/operated. Everything down to the cup of coffee is perfection. The family is warm and welcoming and you can tell how much love goes into their food. I feel like I'm eating a home cooked meal here and that's a rare experience to find these days. Not to mention the portion size will fill up your tummy like a good home cooked meal. And to top it off, I have a gluten and dairy allergy and they are super accommodating, offering many recommendations and modifications. There are plenty of options if you come with allergies. I'm currently addicted to the bratwurst. The sauerkraut and cabbage sides are out of this world - packed with so much flavor that my pallet didn't know it needed. I was craving for Danish food, after my visit to Copenhagen, I wanted to experience Danish food again and I found it here. This place is legit. A true family owned business with mom and dad with daughter running this homey place for good, delicious food. We ordered pickled herring open face sandwich, soup of the day leek/cauliflower, Jaeger schnitzel and almond Danish with ice cream for dessert. They also have Carlsberg beer, my favorite Danish beer. Husband and I popped in for lunch last weekend, we truly loved everything we had! The woman who served us was so friendly and helpful. You could see her enthusiasm for Danish cuisine and she was clearly excited for us to try new things. We started with the Frikkadeller appetizer - 5 small pork meatballs with mashed potatoes, brown gravy, pickled beets, and sweet cucumber pickles. Fantastic! The meatballs were so light and perfectly seasoned, the gravy was decadent, and the mashed potatoes were ultra smooth and buttery. I would love a larger portion of this! For lunch we decided to each try different "sliders." Their sliders are nice sized, open faced sandwiches on dense rye bread. They were freaking beautiful to look at, and I took a great picture, but unfortunately my phone messed up and it came out black. Looks like I have to go back for another picture! Smoked Salmon - My husband had this one and enjoyed it. I personally don't care for smoked salmon so I didn't try it. It came with asparagus, tomato, avocado, and dill mustard dressing. Creamy Chicken Salad - Husband also got this one and I wish I had too! Super flavorful, creamy, shredded chicken salad. Perfection! Boiled Egg & Shrimp - I got this one and thought it was slightly bland, but after squirting on some lemon juice and adding salt & pepper, I really did enjoy this combo of shrimp and hard boiled eggs. This was also served with tomatoes, avocados, and caviar. Roasted Beef Filet - This had great seasoning and tasty caramelized onions, but it was well done. Next time I would ask if they can cook it to medium, I think it would be much tastier that way. This was a pretty large portion of beef too. Breaded Cod - We both got this, and I think it was my favorite out of all of them. This was just a simple piece of breaded and fried cod, served with lemon, avocado, asparagus and a great dill remoulade. Lunch was really filling and we ended up taking a bunch home. Next time we would be better off splitting the sliders, if we decided to order those again. The bill came out to just under $60 for the appetizer and two slider plates, we just had water to drink. We rarely find ourselves in this area, but I think I would go out of my way to eat here again.
