One of my absolute favorite restaurants in San Clemente! I love everything about this restaurant... It is situated in a historic building, just south of Palizada. They have both inside and outside dining, but the outside dining is my favorite. When you sit outside you feel like you've been transported to a European village. The trellis is covered with beautiful lilacs, the fireplace is cozy and the church behind the restaurant makes for a beautiful backdrop! Not only is the atmosphere fantastic but I've never had bad service. Tonight we were lucky enough to sit outside next to the fire place. Our waiter came over quickly and took our drink orders and told us the specials. All the dishes are contemporary American cuisine with a European twist...crafted using fresh, vibrant, and locally sourced ingredients. We started with one of the nightly specials, which was Hamachi Crudo, it was excellent! Along with that we tried the Goat Cheese Fondue. Then we moved on to dinner with two of us having the nightly special of Halibut topped with Arugula Salad. Another had the.Braised Short Ribs and the other had the Lamb Ragu Pasta. For dessert with tried the Fig Butter Cake and a Chocolate Pot de Crème... everything was delicious! We started with cocktails-a sweet and tasty lychee libation and a gin martini-which was a tiny serve, barely more than a half glass, 3 sips. We ordered a second, and commented to the waiter but he did not comp the half empty pour, which I think should have happened. For starters we tried the fig salad with pickled sultanas, walnuts with a lovely citrus dressing, We also had a Caesar salad, both were large enough to share and very fresh. The scallops were cooked perfectly but needed more salt and flavor, the roasted vegetables were fresh and flavorful, We also had the beef with purple cabbage and it was delicious. There is a pretty courtyard area with fire pits but we sat inside as it was a little chilly outside. Cuisine and service worthy of this dog-friendly venue's high Yelp ratings. Our party of four, with dog in tow, was looking for a good meal on our way from Newport Beach to Carlsbad. San Clemente was about halfway in terms of distance, but pragmatically it felt much closer because traffic on Route 5 South began backing up in the middle of Camp Pendleton. I searched Yelp for dog-friendly restaurants in San Clemente and found Fig 313, which allows dogs on its patio. I liked the description: fresh, local ingredients and a fusion of European culinary traditions and American favorites, nestled within a 1927 landmark. When we arrived, we found a beautiful little restaurant and an attractive, comfortable patio complete with old stone, lush plantings, vines, heat lamps, and a fire pit. The staff cheerfully turned on both the lam and fire pit when our California friend said she was cold. This is a constant source of amusement for me, since the temperature was 72 degrees at the time. We shared an appetizer that sounded especially tasty: Goat Cheese Fondue - caramelized shallots, Granny Smith apples, grilled bread It came with apple slices and crostini. The crostini was perfectly toasted and made a great accompaniment to the absolutely delicious goat cheese fondue. The attentive wait staff noticed we had finished the crostini while some fondue remained. When they asked whether we wanted more, we said yes, and soon finished off both the extra crostini and the remaining fondue. For our entrées, we ordered: * Braised Short Rib - boneless, served with braised cabbage, croquette, and apple mustard crème fraîche * Fig Wagyu Burger - Chavrie goat cheese, fig marmalade, arugula with Truffle Fries * Chicken Not Pie - half chicken, semi-boneless, savory bread pudding, velouté sauce, fresh herbs * Lamb Ragu Pasta - slow-braised lamb simmered in a rich tomato and red pepper sauce, topped with garlic lemon yogurt and fresh herbs, served over fresh pasta My lamb ragu was excellent, the rich sauce paired with pasta cooked perfectly al dente. I sampled every dish and found them all nicely executed. I would happily reorder any of them. The truffle fries, which were shared by all, were hot, crunchy, and delicious. The staff was cheerful, highly attentive, and completely on their game. They refilled water glasses multiple times, checked on our meals, and responded immediately to every request. If I lived nearby, Fig 313 would be in regular rotation, they should open a restaurant in Boston or Providence! read more

I was dying to try this place with my fiance for months but finally ended up going with my girl friends. 1. service is spot on, it is such a quaint little restaurant with limited seating (good) and everyone we interacted with was so friendly. I'd call it a step above casual but you can certainly dress up also. I cannot recall our servers name (he was polish) but he was awesome and recommended some great dishes 2. food - we split two of the filet mignon specials, 2 cesar salads and 2 fries ( girl dinner) everything we had was SO good and i'd honestly come back just for the fries 3. I had the lychee drink and asked them to sub tequila instead and they obliged. the only hiccup was my friends espresso martini was pretty much all milk. everyone else loved their drinks will return! highly recommend read more

How did we not know about Fig@313? This restaurant has been here for about 9 years and we went to it for the first time. We had a great time as we enjoyed a family birthday. We were seated quickly and picked to dine outside with great lights and a fire pit. Our waiter, Andrew, took great care of us and was very friendly. We started out late for dinner, walked down Del Mar, didn't really see anything we liked. Drove down South El Camino, but the place we went to see didn't have much of a patio. After we came back to where we were staying, we saw Fig 313. Sometimes what you are looking for is right in front of you! Friendly greeting, and they were not busy, though it was 8 pm. We pretty much had the patio all to ourselves and of course, Cako didn't mind...LOL! They have a very interesting menu, and everything looks delicious! They also have a great wine list! They had a Malbec that I am familiar with and we ordered that. We both started with the fig salad. This was really good! The pickled white raisins were a nice surprise! Love candied walnuts which pair nicely with the bleu cheese. And of course, the figs and apples bring it all together. A great salad! I ordered the special oso bucco. This was really tender and served on a bed of spinach and kale and came with bleu cheese mashed potatoes. One thing that I loved was the marrow from the bone. This was one of those decadent meals that one should treat themselves to every so often. Price was pretty steep but I'm on vacation. Daveed had the tender braised short rib with carrot puree and red cabbage. He thought it was one of the best short ribs he's had in a while. Our server Andrew, was great! Very personable and we had a great discussion about dogs. Cako laid down twice during our meal and only does that when she really likes a place! Fig 313 is definitely a gem nestled just a few minutes away from the pier! Quiet, quaint & intimate. We dined in for our anniversary on a Tuesday. The Spanish style ambiance created a cozy yet simplistic setting. All staff were very inviting and attentive. We started with house bread & their signature fig butter-- a light, yet sweet spongy starter. We also got the bone marrow which came with grilled toast to spread on the savory garlicky flavors. The "cherry on top" was the unexpected ice cream gesture to celebrate our anniversary. It's one of those things that most restaurants overlook when you make the reservation, but so meaningful when they take the time to acknowledge such a special occasion. But it was my fig salad with green apples and walnuts that really sealed the deal for me. It was so flavorful with hazelnuts. It was delicious delightful light and bright. I could've eaten an entire bowl of the salad it was that good. We enjoyed the beef bourgaon , linguine and clams all the dishes were delicious. Our waiter, Mike , was just on point for everything such a great experience. I really love the lighting in this restaurant very sexy. They have an incredible outdoor patio which we did not utilize because we were a little chilly. I have service animals that fit into a bag, they had no problem accommodating me with this fact. Then the drinks were very good, I had an old fashioned with fig, wish I would have known they had the dark maraschino cherries. The fig was a little hard to eat, didn't add to the drink. For dinner we had the filet with veal au jus, mashed potatoes and fresh carrots. Super delicious, cooked perfectly medium rare. We also had the scallops, which we had put on the side of the sauces and sides. Super well done as well. I'm delighted to have been referred to this restaurant by a friend. The waiters were SUPER attentive, constantly filling up our water without being asked, regularly checking up on us, conversational, professional, bright smiles, they seemed happy to work there. The only thing that I dock a star for is the food what pretty okay/good. Not bad, just good. For the price I usually expect phenomenal taste. It was presented beautifully but, idk, the taste was somewhat boring. I really wanted to love it too. A lot of dishes have fig in them and are pretty good we ordered a lot. Bone marrow was delicious (but how can you mess up bone marrow). Great service, great decor, great presentation, 'meh' food. Came here for my birthday with a 7pm reservation. We were seated right away and brought waters, but then sat and waited. It took a bit of time before our waitress came for our drink orders, and even longer before we got them... when one was just a glass of wine. We placed our orders and again waited... the salad and bread came out and both were great! The fig butter for the light fluffy bread was a perfect combination and the fig salad was perfectly dressed and a great creative mix of fruit and veggies! At this point we were ready for our mains... again the wait. When our food came I liked the chicken but the risotto was undercooked and kind of dry. I commented to my husband that I make better creamier risotto than this. My husband felt the same about his meal, the meat was good but the pasta was overcooked and he said the sauce didn't have much flavor. We were both a little let down. We skipped on dessert since we weren't sure if it would be good or not, plus at this point we were their almost 2 hrs and were ready to leave. We ended up grabbing thrifty ice cream on our way home to satisfy our sweet tooth. Dined at 313 Fig for our anniversary. Parking in the church lot across the street on a Friday night was remarkably easy. Had the Goat Cheese Fondue as an appetizer. It was delicious. Ordered the Beeg Bourgogne and the chef special, Iberico Pork Chop. The meat in both was heavily seared, bordering on burnt, so not as flavorful as we expected, but the meals were good, nonetheless. Ordered their Fig Butter Cake for dessert and received a complimentary Caramel Gelato. The Gelato was the star. Outdoor patio was pleasant on a summer evening. A bit noisy at first, but our reservation was later in the evening so it got quieter relatively quickly. Nicholas, our server was pleasant, courteous and attentive. Took a bit to get our initial drinks and appetizer, but we were in no rush. It's pricey but a good choice for a special occasion. read more

We also really enjoyed the Beef Short Ribs, the Sea Bass, and the Chicken Pot Pie. And whatever you do, don't skip the bread and the Brussels sprouts. I have only dined on their patio, which is a delightful outdoor space complete with twinkle lights and a fire pit. The menu is seasonal. When we were there we tried the seafood pasta, stuffed chicken, short rib and scallops. All entrees were delicious but if I had to pick a favorite- I'd go with short rib. No knife needed for this tender cut! The baked to order brioche loaf with fig butter is like an appetizer and dessert. Served warm and hard to put down. The service was attentive. We went in for another local try and were pleasantly surprised with Fig 313. We started with a couple waters and the Smoked Fig and we were off and running. It wasn't too too smoky but just the right flavor. Our server didn't an excellent job with breaking out our apps, dinner, and desert. We had the chicken pan dinner as well as the burger. Not to mention, the Brussel sprouts before as an app. One thing to note, it's in the name but you should probably like Figs if you come here. A lot of their plates come with them. The chicken was extremely clean. The burger was cooked to perfection. And I'm a big fry guy, the fries were excellent. We had the blonde for dessert. The bread is very very tasty. The ice cream is a more distinct taste. Overall, this place has great service and some decent meals. The ambiance is a bit off inside with a rogue TV and a small bar area. They could probably kill the bright lights over the bar to give the inside area a bit more of a fine dining setting. Regardless, hope this helps anyone looking to come here. Cheers! read more

OMG. This place is absolutely amazing. We had a reservation for a 6:00 on dinner on Sunday, and were seated on the beautiful patio. We enjoyed some INCREDIBLE food! The fig and olive tapenade is something I'll be dreaming about, and the fig wagyu burger was a standout. Both dishes had the hearty, yet delicate sweet and savory combination that you would expect from a restaurant that uses figs as one of the primary ingredients. I enjoyed both with a wonderful glass of Malbec, and the service was absolutely perfect. We came down to SC for our baby-moon, and this was honestly the food highlight of our trip. We went for dinner on 04/13 with a reservation for 7:30 pm slot. The start was a bit bittersweet since we didn't have an order in place till 8:15. However the food was pretty good. For cocktails, the fig Mule is a must have and fig old fashioned was petty good! Thepoached pear salad did not dissapoint. The Chilean sea bass was average and not worth the price and pork belly carbonara pasta was decent. The highlight was the chocolate mousse cake with orange which is to die for!
