Saturday Ribeye Special with loaded baked potato, Cole slaw and steak bourbon sauce
    Paul H.

Early Saturday dinner. Arrived at about 4 o'clock with plenty of dining space. Saturday is the ribeye special, definitely worth it. Had the appetizer deviled fried eggs, which we thought were unique and good. They have a very extensive menu that I think would please everybody. Ribeye was Cook just right with loaded baked potato and a good serving of coleslaw. Bourbon sauce was served on the side, which we thought was excellent . Shelby was our server and was cordial and attentive . They also have an excellent old fashion. It's been a while since we've been there, but I'm glad they have not lost their charm and quality .

We ordered the Brisket Poutine , super good to share and the brisket was outstanding. For lunch we ordered a stuffed hamburger with fries. The burger was very delicious, although more on the monster size of things, glad we split it! Good to have tried it, but next time I'll go for a regular burger. For dessert we had chocolate cake and lemon cheesecake with a raspberry purée over the top. The service was great and the service was fast. Very nice atmosphere all be it a little noisy. Kelly was great to have as a server for us.

Cute town and cute mainstreet area with a very nice restaurant! The hostess and waitress were very nice and always available. The jalopeno cream soup was delicious. The list of craft beers was quite large and varied. The street tacos were tasty and offered just the right amount of food. The lobster ravioli contained real lobster!! Great find and worth the drive.

We stopped at this place while in the area and were really surprised how good the BBQ was. I had the sampler of all the smoked meats and my girl friend had the smoked salmon. Each of us had the cornbread and baked beans. The service was quick and attentive. This is family friendly place as well.

Used to go to Fire Water BBQ in Geneva when I lived in the area, as well as Famous Dave's (RIP) in Algonquin with my Ex. Now that I live in Pingree Grove, I decided I'd see if there were any new places to satisfy my BBQ cravings, was originally going to go to BBQ KING but this place had the better reviews. Got the wings as an app, not much Smokey flavor or bite. Though they were on special today for half off. So that's nice. Decided to get the smokehouse combo which includes a bit of everything, can safely say not going back as the best things were the BBQ sauce and the cornbread. Talk about a let down. All the meats were pretty bland and felt like they'd been reheated rather than prepared fresh. No Smokey flavor at all. What's worse, the con included a soup and a side, and we only got 1 small coup of soup despite there being too of us? The cocktails were also pretty pricey and lacked much alcohol. Won't be going back, and don't understand all the positive reviews. Maybe we came on an off day, but you only get 1 shot at a first impression, and this one was definitely not what I was hoping it'd be at all.

    Ribs, cornbread & slaw - delicious ;)

Drinks and food are solid, and my dad would love it - they have Old Style on tap. We had fig appetizer - outstanding, great beer, great red sangria, great mule. I thoroughly enjoyed my ribs but they may have been too tender & sauced for a connoisseur, my daughter enjoyed the pulled pork but may not be smoky enough for said connoisseur and the brisket was very tender but also not smoky enough for the connoisseur. All smoked meat was very moist & tender, not smoky. Cornbread was deliciously moist, coleslaw was great as we're mashed potatoes. The only unappetizing part of the experience was FOX News on TV, we prefer dinner without politics; ESPN or Gameshow Network are always great, neutral options.

This place is incredible... the food is to die for. It's the first place I've been to and did not feel like bloated or so full to where I was sick because the portions were perfect. Nothing here fell short, in fact it's the first place in the burbs where the food wasn't overly salted or fried in some type of oil. Everything tasted fresh. The flavors were busting up in my mouth every bite I took, even down to snowball fight drink we had. I highly, highly recommend the bread cheese appetizer- this was something super unique to me as I've only had grilled up cheese one other time in Brazil, Queijo Coalho.... There was a beautiful twist on this cheese- crunchy, creamy, sweet, savory and the honey and tabbouleh were such a great finish to this dish. Pair this with the fresh bread and it was chefs kiss! We had the beer braised short rib and seabass- two completely different flavored entres that we absolutely perfect. The short rib you literally can't go wrong with- melted in my mouth with every bite - and hats off the the chef who cooked the onions so perfect to actually be able to taste them instead of just carmelizing or salting them! I would call this your typical Midwest comfort dish. The seabass was much different the salad was tangy with the lentils being rich- add a nice cooked crispy top seabass and you got yourself a unique dish of flavors that will have you thinking what's in it after hours! But the star of the show was dessert of course - OMFG - s'mores ice cream sunday ....... I died and went to heaven literally. I have never tasted ice cream that mimicked everything I've ever wanted my ice cream to taste like. It was the perfect temperature (trust me a lot of restaurants it's either rock hard or melted) this was epic. Creamy, almost pudding like and being able to taste every note was wild to me. The graham cracker - yes the freaking graham cracker was the best one I've ever tasted in my life. Clearly I've never had a graham cracker without preservatives before. The chocolate syrup .... Jeeze let me tell if I could swim in it I would.... The service was friendly, prompt and right on time. The server knew all the cues and timing of all the food to come out. She checked in everytime we got something to make sure everything was just right... you can tell she takes her job seriously but also knows how to interact with people - something a lot of servers lack these days so we really appreciated the service. As for the atmosphere- this place blows a lot of the chi city restaurants out of the water. The organic feel but fancy! Oh, and I can actually talk and hear myself think without blasting music over my head. We will be back ... but honestly please change nothing here- everything you're doing here is fantastic!

She was friendly and great at recommending dishes. The busboy (we didn't catch his name) was positive and attentive. The staff really make the spot wonderful. It's modern inside, dark paint, and updated decor. However it feels friendly with the trendy atmosphere. The way these dishes look also match the ambiance at the restaurant. We ordered lots of dishes and they mostly looked great! The Salat Roasted Beet Salad is fruity, thanks to the berries and citrus, with a pistachio whip on the bottom of the dish. It's a heavier dish for a salad, but absolutely delicious and fruity. I also had the San Francisco Style Cioppino was good, but I wasn't expecting it to be like a zupa di pesci, while the flavor was good, I was having FOMO of others eating monkfish and the walleye. The Cioppino had a Louisiana flavored sauce. There was a variety of fish which were all cooked and not overdone. It's a massive dish! We finished off with English Sticky Toffee Pudding and Italian Citrus Mascarpone Cake. The cake was amazing! It wasn't too tart and light. The sticky pudding was also delicious and very sweet. It's a very beautiful restaurant, service is great, the plates look amazing and tastes great. It's definitely a spot to try again!

I went and was underwhelmed my other friends did not have the same experience. They were more favorable. Ok to start. We got three appetizer the bacon, cauliflower, and onion soup. If i stopped with this it was great. Bacon had nice flavor and the pickle were intriguing and good., with a little kick. The cauliflower was fun and the sauce ban bang very good it had nice flavor with all the right notes only complaint was it was cold and not hot. My one friend said it was much better when they had it last time it was hot and good. I think the day we went they must have had kitchen problems I will try again at some point. The onion soup was probably my favorite thing this evening. It was so good and not over powered in any flavor note everything was perfect. So I should have stopped with this. I did have a glass of wine and it was very tasty and it tasted perfect. So if I say so this was an appetizer and maybe dessert place based on my visit. Two of us got the short ribs and one meatloaf was the three meals we chose. So my short ribs were so underwhelming I will start with the food was not hot when it came out. My meat was cooked perfectly and had a good bite to it. The down fall to my plate. The sauce had zero flavor. Maybe some salt could have helped a lil. I was expecting wonderful flavors like taste the port or any herb but it was just bland. The next was the tomato on the plate with the white cheese. The tomato had flavor but the cheese nine. When combined with the meat not a good mix. . It was almost as if it was added to put color but did not blend well with the meal. The meal was ok but again not hot. The best part of the plate was green beans had good flavor and tasty. So on to the next dish's my other friend did not have much to say about his short ribs but it was better last time he went. For the meatloaf they would comeback just for this alone. It was so good best ever. The only thing again was the sauce. Had no flavor. But I do see it was the same sauce port Demi glacé, They were thrilled with the way the beef tasted. I really want to try a dessert but after the experience I chose not to. I do think I would definitely go do appetizers and desserts again. Most restaurant guests had some dessert and it looked like they were enjoying what they got. They also seemed to have enjoyed their meals. So maybe it was just my luck. As for the waitstaff they were great kept the table clean water filled and kept the meal flowing. The server looked like maybe someone called off and was doing great. Managing all the tables with ease. The over all look and feel of the location was very well done nice and not cramped tables the had ample space that was nice The look was very welcoming. Will try again. But will he something different

I made this reservation more than a month in advance and was genuinely excited when I finally snagged a table. Thankfully, the meal delivered. The space itself is exactly what I hoped for--minimal, chic, and effortlessly cool. Nothing feels overdesigned or trendy for the sake of being trendy. The menu is also refreshingly approachable. It's creative without being overwhelming, and there's enough variety that everyone can find something they'll love. Before I even get into the food, I have to give a huge shoutout to our server, Kona. She was absolutely incredible and deserves a raise. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. Service like that elevates an entire meal. The drinks were fantastic too. Strong, well-balanced, and with enough variety that there's truly something for everyone. I had both a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned, and neither disappointed. The Manhattan was bold and spirit-forward, while the Old Fashioned was exactly what I wanted--strong, slightly sweet, and the perfect companion to dessert. To start, we ordered the Pita & Dips, and thank goodness we did. The pita itself is enormous, warm, and beautifully prepared. The dips were fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. It's one of those dishes that seems simple on paper but ends up being one of the most satisfying things on the table. The famous Green Beans absolutely lived up to the hype. Kona came by and suggested pairing them with the halibut, which is exactly the kind of thoughtful service that makes a difference. She didn't have to do that, but she did, and she was right. The green beans were incredible--crunchy, savory, addictive, and somehow far more exciting than green beans have any right to be. I'd honestly come back just for this dish. The Pan-Roasted Halibut was another standout. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The acidity cut through the richness of the fish while the subtle sweetness tied everything together. It felt bright and refined without losing comfort-factor. The Goat Empanadas were exactly what fried food should be. Crispy, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. Sometimes restaurants try to overcomplicate things, but this dish succeeded because it simply executed the fundamentals perfectly. Then came the Roasted Pig Face, which might have been the most fun dish of the night. Mixing everything together transformed the plate into something completely different from its individual parts. The textures were fantastic, and the potatoes added an element I wasn't expecting but thoroughly enjoyed. It's playful, creative, and a perfect example of why Girl & the Goat became famous in the first place. And then dessert happened. We ordered the Popcorn Situation, and I now understand why people talk about it. The combination of sweetness, saltiness, creaminess, and crunch somehow works perfectly. That cake, the cheese component, the salty notes - everything came together in a way that sounds unusual on paper but tastes absolutely incredible. Overall, Girl & the Goat lives up to its hype. I'll 100% be back

The ambiance strikes a perfect balance with dim, intimate lighting and a clean, modern presentation. It feels polished without being stiff, refined but still welcoming. Most importantly, it delivers where it counts, on the plate. We started with the lamb lollipops, cooked precisely to temperature and finished with crushed pistachios, pomegranate, and a rich demi-glace. Each bite delivered depth, brightness, and texture. The Dungeness crab croquettes were equally impressive, crispy on the outside with a delicate, herbaceous interior. Rich, but never heavy. The French onion soup is an experience in itself, served in a hollowed onion. Bold, deeply savory, and incredibly comforting. Service elevated the night even further. Our server, Karra, asked if we'd sharing and had the kitchen split our entrées into individual portions, a thoughtful touch. The steak arrived perfectly cooked, and exactly as ordered. We finished with the English sticky toffee pudding, warm, gooey, and unapologetically decadent. Montarra doesn't chase trends.
