Good atmosphere and nice waitress. Ordered 16oz prime rib that was more than half lard, I'm guessing 9oz. I mentioned it to the waitress very politely as I normally don't complain but this steak should have never left the kitchen. I got 3in x 4.5in of meat for $31. She tried to explain that it's a fatty cut of steak and that's normal. I thought she was bringing a desert to make up for it but I found it on my bill in the end. Ultimately, she acted offended for me bringing it up and avoided addressing the situation or me. Very disappointed. They have a nice menu with good stuff on it. Had they handled it well, I could see myself spending 1k plus there over the next year. After this, even though outside of ordering prime rib I would have no chance of experiencing this again, my pride won't let me go back. read more

Thankfully we didn't let these past reviews deter us from Copper Kettle. The decor is still a little dated, but I think it had a nice, homey feel to it. We ate in a nice, comfy booth in the bar area and our waitress was great. Only miscommunication problem was my boyfriend asked for the Prime Rib and ended up with the Ribeye, which we had also discussed. Luckily, he loves all steaks and very much enjoyed this. Just means we will be heading back to try the prime rib. I had the special steak and pasta dish, which was delish. All meals come with 2 sides, so you definitely get enough. Went to the Copper Kettle with a group of 12. We sat in a separate room. We order 5 different appetizers to share. They were so good-each one of them. So much so that it's impossible to say which one was best. Then the entrée was next. I can't speak for the others but I had a crab cake, filet mignon, roasted asparagus, and a house salad. It was superb. The crab cake was delicious, the filet (medium rare) cooked just right, and the asparagus cooked to perfection. Our waitress was professional and helpful. Just finished eating dinner and it was outstanding. We started with the Brie cheese app and it was delicious would defiantly order again. My girlfriend had the chicken Chesapeake and she said it was delicious. I had the maple chipotle New York strip and that was out standing also. My husband and I ate here tonight. We aren't super particular about how our steaks are cooked, but we usually order them medium to medium-rare. I ordered medium-rare and mine came out medium, but was tender so I didn't mention it to my waitress. My husband ordered medium and got well done. We mentioned it to the waitress and they offered to remake it. 20 mins later, he got a very rare steak. They offered to redo it again and he declined. Then they brought us the check, were they had still charged us for the steak my husband never got to eat. They did fix that thankfully, but we won't be back. They also offered us desert, which was pretty funny considering my husband didn't get to eat his dinner. read more

Went here for a business dinner and the food and service were great. The server Layla was fun and put up with our groups antics quite well. We had a private room which meant we could get a little rowdy, although we were all finished drinking by the time we arrived. I had a good Greek salad. I also had the NY strip steak medium rare which was perfectly cooked and pretty big. I could not finish all of it. My side was potato au gratin which was rich and creamy with lots of cream. I have wanted to come here for several years and one thing or another has always gotten in the way. Tonight, on a whim, I stopped in with a couple of friends and am I glad we did! The meals were outstanding! The lobster bisque was delicious and the rolls were piping hot. My friend had the queso appetizer and said it was good. Then came the entrees. Prime rib, pork chop, and filet mignon. These were to die for. All were done to absolute perfection. Normally I do not like carrots but the Hawaiian carrots were more like dessert than a vegetable. We came into town late yesterday to see our son play soccer this weekend. I had been perusing the menus of a few restaurants to celebrate our anniversary. We decided on Copper Kettle and it did not disappoint. The baked queso was a great starter. Our filet's were beautiful cuts of meat and cooked to medium perfection. Desert was out do this this world. I had an orange cream cake and my husband had tuexedo cheesecake. So good!! Our serve Nicole had a large party in addition to us, but she took excellent care of us. You cannot go wrong. Every bite is succulent and leaves you wanting more. If only you had another stomach! The filet mignon is masterly prepared. The crab cakes are well-composed with fresh ingredients. They even made carrots taste heavenly. The staff is friendly (maybe a little too friendly- using the f-bomb with the regulars) and well versed on the menu. Our waiter was a little scattered, but we eventually got everything we ordered. What a disappointment! The food was the equivalent of heat and serve and the prime rib, scallops were meh. I ordered parmesan encrusted haddock and was served I'm not sure what tpye of white fish with mystery cheese. All mushy and no flavor. Our meals were discounted 50% but this lovely experience cost $50 and over 2 hours of our evening. My recommendation.....try someplace else. For Chambersburg this is a nice restaurant. I like that you can get some privacy because the dining areas are sectioned off. The steaks are great and the seafood is nice. I especially love the scallops and anything made with crab here. The rolls are soft, warm and welcoming. I tend not to like their sides however especially the Copper potato fried wedges that are over cooked and greasy. People are friendly. The service is on point. read more

As a local to Chambersburg were going in there about once a month. We loved the atmosphere of the bar area. The prime rib and the crab cakes are delicious, but the other food they struggle with. For the price of the hamburgers, you should not get a pre-made patty with no flavor and only done one way (well done) we prefer our burgers done rare to medium rare and were very disappointed that they had changed to this style of "burger". When we started going there they got their meat from a local butcher market, it has become obvious that they have started to cut corners by ordering in pre-made food. So thumbs up for the Prime rib, crab cakes, perfectly made drinks and atmosphere, thumbs down for the remainder of the food quality. Oh, and the servers are great. read more

Went this past Monday for my father in-laws 75th birthday with a large group ( 13 ) . Service was excellent. Everything else was just status quo. Known for there prime rib that is what at least 5 ordered. Everyone was content but not impressed. My wife got the chicken Oscar, one of my sons got the crab dip and the other got the seafood Alfredo. All had same opinion , it was OK. I ordered the Filet cooked Rare ( cool red center ) and it came out mid rare ( warm red center ). Not a huge deal since no steak houses around here understand this. The filet was very tender but it was not seasoned at all. Not ever the "kc butter" the menu touted. Ordered a drink 2 times. Knob creek. First time on the rocks , second round neat. Apparently neat is a $1 up charge lol. Never seen that in all my travels. How utterly silly. Don't care about the dollar per say , it was still cheap at $9.25 just made me laugh. Neat dictates no ice Not larger portion. To boot they put it in a brandy snifter so wrong glass and you can easily check portion pour and it was spot on. So no extra product just added a dollar for fun I guess? Anyway the 2 stars of the night where the warmed brie appetizer ( truly outstanding ) and our server. She was super friendly , very knowledgeable and efficient. Prices where at a decent level for the food we got. Good quality product just lacking in any flair and not prepared to it's potential. We ate there last Friday night. We hadn't eaten there before, but we had a gift card so we decided to give it a try for "date night." The service was excellent and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The food, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. Our Ahi Tuna appetizer, which we ordered rare, was very overcooked. It was barely pink inside. However, it did have good flavor. Our Greek salads had too many onions and were drenched in dressing (order the dressing on the side!). Their famous fries (baked potatoes that are sliced and deep fried) were OK. They were not seasoned except with salt, and they weren't very crispy. I ordered the Fin and Feather entree. The scallops were excellent: cooked and seasoned just right. The chicken was tasteless, dry, and overcooked. I wish I had just gone with a full portion of scallops. My husband ordered crab cakes and pronounced them just OK--and definitely not made with blue crab. We won't be going back. There are restaurants in Chambersburg that serve better food at a lower price. read more

Two of us visited here early on a Friday evening after attending a family event and prior to a two and a half hour drive to home. The area is a fast food mecca and we were looking for something a little more substantial. So, we took the recommendation of a family member and decided to give the Copper Kettle a try. We were greeted by a very pleasant young hostess who gave us a choice of where we would like to be seated. The three dining rooms, while pleasantly decorated, appeared empty so we opted to sit at a table in the bar area where there were several patrons at the bar and in booths. Our server soon arrived to provide our menus and take our drink orders. Throughout our visit we found her to be accommodating and friendly, though a bit on the gushy side. The drinks were well prepared and certainly plentiful! The snapper soup was flavorful with just enough spice but devoid of any detectable meat. We both ordered the prime rib as an entrée. They were quite tasty, tender, done just as we ordered, and reasonably priced. The sides were disappointing with rice and applesauce out of a jar both served in individual dishes, cafeteria style. Our overall impression was that the restaurant was attempting to present themselves as more high end than their product suggested. October 16th, 2015. I had lunch with an Army friend. Megan graciously served me the French Onion Soup and the Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich and decaf coffee. I was told my many people I needed to try this place, so for a Valentine's Day treat, we decided to give it a go. The restaurant is in an old house, which is kind of interesting, but the ambiance is pretty low. Each room is an actual room, and there is no opportunity for private conversations. Eve whispering ends up being loud. The menus were on copy paper. Classy. The selection was limited, and didn't seem what a 'house of prime rib' should present. Dinner rolls were good, as were the salads. The snapper soup was gag-worthy. It was so salty that I had to stop after one sip. After this, we were still looking forward to the main course. We both got prime rib, as that was all that was available. Neither of us were able to finish our steaks. The seasoning killed any actual steak flavor, both were overly fatty and neither were satisfying in the least. I told our waitress I wasn't happy with the results, and nothing was done. I even sent a note to the management afterwards, and was promptly ignored. For an overpriced 'fancy' restaurant, it was a complete disappointment. I will never visit this establishment again, and will never recommend it to others. read more

The food was fine and the service was fine but I thought the charges were a little out of line. I had two beers and My wife had Ice Tea. My two beers were $5.00 each ($10.00) and my wife's Ice Tea was $11.16. The reason they fill her glass with ice and very little tea. When she asked for more they bring another glass full of ice and little tea. So they charge for each tea request at $2.79. So tea is more expensive than beer????? read more

Have been here several times in the past and not impressed. Today mom wanted to go here to celebrate her birthday so our party of 4 went. Ordered the queso app to start - pretty good - little kick but not too spicy. Next up were salads and bread. Bread very good - hot and tasty, salads another story. Mostly lettuce - big pieces - didn't look too fresh and a 1/2 piece of beefsteak tomato. Hubby who doesn't use much dressing actually had to ask for some as his salad didn't have any. Next up were the entrees - what a disappointment. 2 members had the chicken mixed grill which they said was dry and tasteless. I had the stuffed shrimp - 3 medium shrimp stuffed with mostly filler - very little crab. It was all topped or rather swimming in bechemel sauce which overpowered the dish. After eating first shrimp in dish removed the other 2 and just ate on a plate. For $26.50 expected much better. Other member ordered the steak primavera which was ok ; however apparently steak is precooked to almost well or well as not able to specify temp when ordering. Overall very disappointing and not good for the money - over $100 down the drain. We will not be back. I should point out that our server was very good. read more

Gave the Kettle a second chance tonight. Positives no wait to get a seat. Hostess and waitress were very pleasant. Waitress was extremely attentive = good tip. Food was sub par. Baked queso was just thicker queso dip with soggy oily chips. Nice try on matching Montezumas, but to quote Bob Uecker - "just a bit outside" AKA not even close. Side salads were good -I had the Greek. Nothing fancy but didn't screw it up. Fast forward to the entree. I had the pan fried soft shell crab on a corn chutney. Crab and corn were over cooked and both were soaked in oil. Not sure what they were going for but they were not pan fried. If soft shell crab is an acquired taste - oiley/over cooked soft shell is simply a taste that should be avoided all together. My wife had swordfish and it was OK. Prepared more like a steak. I guess if you are local and have literally more money than tastebuds this is the place for you. If you want something that is fresh and well prepared try Fidler and Co. it's an easy stop off if you are headed out to Gettysburg coming back from. It's unfortunate they are all the way out in Biglerville - not convenient when going out for a quick bite. So to sum up. Food less than average, cost above average and last time we hit the Kettle for a while. Better places to hit in the burg and near by. The one star is just because the waitress was so darn nice. Well it's now early in the am on sat morning and I have been up for the past few hours with what I would describe as serious indigestion bordering on food poisoning. I would remove all stars and go negative 3 stars at this point. Not exactly how I wanted to end my Friday night and start my Saturday morning. read more
