After researching online and calling numerous florists in the Concord, MA area, I quickly grew disenchanted with what should have been an easy, feel-good experience: sending flowers. Granted, it was 2:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon and I was hoping for same-day delivery, but the arrangement was just going to a local hospital--totally doable, right? Wrong. So very wrong. Several online vendors immediately declined the order due to timing. One shop told me they could accommodate my timeframe, so I asked if I could email, text or verbally share a link with the arrangement I had in mind? This was met with an exasperated sigh, followed by an explanation that they didn't have those flowers. Mind you, this was before I even described it or sent a link/photo. Next. When I stumbled upon Copper Penny Flowers' website, I was instantly drawn to their fresh, modern arrangements in stunning colors--a far cry from the ho-hum, generic selections I'd seen everywhere else. I figured they'd be way out of my range, but when I called to inquire about alternative options, Caroline couldn't have been more upbeat and helpful. Unlike so many others, who led with what they weren't able to do for me, she asked open-ended questions and suggested minor tweaks and modifications to mirror the essence and volume of the design I envisioned, kept it within my budget, and was able to include same-day shipping in the final price we agreed upon. She designed an arrangement over the phone that utilized my favorite blooms in an incredible color scheme, in a gorgeous, contemporary design. Better still? She let me know that they'd deliver it within the hour. Done and done! Needless to say, it took all the pain out of purchasing a floral arrangement across state lines, and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. Kudos to Copper Penny Flowers! I have already added the florist to my contact list for any and all floral needs in the area. Was it a bait and switch?! Who knows...Very disappointed. This arrangement stinks. I placed an online order for a long low Thanksgiving table arrangement for $225. I have the confirmation and was charged that amount. However, they sent my friend the cheaper and substantially smaller bouquet valued at $150! Had my friend not sent a picture to me via text, I would have never known the shop charged me for the large arrangement and shipped the smaller arrangement! I can't tell if it was a deliberate switch and a way to boost profit - but I shouldn't have to send an image to prove that indeed she got the wrong item even though I was charged for the larger arrangement. Surely they should have noticed before billing and delivering ?! Easy enough - with many online orders this kind of switch-a-roo would be pretty easy to pull off. A very shady way to do business in this day of shared phone images and texts! After having been treated brusquely by staff they said they would go collect the wrong item delivered yesterday and replace it with the correct one today. That might have been worse! Who knows what condition the 'replacement' would be after me having to argue that I felt cheated. What would the recipient think as well...when someone shows up to make an exchange?! I opted for a refund but I am still frustrated since the larger bouquet was a more fitting "Thank You" and that is why I chose that size in the first place. The store clerk says a reimbursement will likely take many days because only the owner can credit my card the overpayment and she is away. The whole experience leaves a lingering bad scent - pun intended. read more

Brides beware! Although the florists did a great job with the flowers for my wedding, the customer service was less than ideal. Copper Penny requires several (exhaustive) meetings to plan for the wedding day, but have limited availability to have said meetings (only available times are during the workday). I work full time, so I ended up asking family members to fill in for me at these meetings, just for Copper Penny to cancel them at the last minute. If I could do it over again, I would find a florist that is more organized. They do a great job but it wasn't worth the 12 months of headaches. read more

Really disappointed in this shop. I called and spoke with Amanda and asked to have an arrangement made and they said it could be ready by the afternoon. I was assured it would be done by 2pm. I later called and asked for it to be delivered and they said it would get to me. I waited all night and the flowers never came. Maybe Amanda was too busy trying to push me to spend more money to remember when I asked for the flowers to be ready by and to be delivered. I called and asked for a refund and even then she was still aggressive with me and tried to get me to have the flowers sent a day late. Very unprofessional, Winston's is much better. If two phone calls is too much for you to handle then you should re think your business. Who wants flowers the day after their birthday? Of course a refund should be given when the company is at fault, that's basic business. We have used the Copper Penny for years for our holiday centerpieces. But this year, my daughter had her wedding in our backyard, instead of the 300-person wedding she had planned in California.
