I wanted to love this hotel but it was very disappointing for many reasons. One caveat though, we made a reservation at the last minute on Labor Day Weekend and probably got one of the lower quality rooms even though it was $150.00. First, my pet peeve is when you go into a place of business and employees are talking to each other and don't take the time to say: "Hi, we'll be with you in a minute." One of the people talking was obviously a manager. Even though the conversation was work-related I was not impressed at our greeting. The room was small which was okay, but the shower was so small that I had to turn off the water and open the door to shave my legs. I am not a large woman either! The soap was some kind of eco-friendly stuff that smelled awful. We were at the end of a hallway and heard a lot of noise from the hall and from the alley below. The restaurant workers were talking to each other saying stuff like: Do we have enough tomatoes? It seemed like we heard noise from everywhere...above, below and from the room on the side of us. Okay, it was a weekend...but it did seem a little excessive. They have window air-conditioners that are noisy and the fan was noisy too. The blanket on the bed was gross and worn looking. The bedspread was okay but I thought they should just get an inexpensive microfiber fleece type blanket that doesn't show wear and pills. They use regular keys for the doors and all of the room doors seem to have a slight vibration in them. This means that when your neighbor is going into their room, your room door will shake a little. The door chain then vibrates against the door making it sound like someone is coming into your room. Luckily, I was awake and realized what was happening. My boyfriend woke up startled thinking someone was coming into the room while he was sleeping. I really wouldn't recommend this place. I didn't get a chance to loot at any other places but picked up a bookmark from the Copper City Inn which might be a good alternative. read more

This is a totally cool "wild west" saloon. I can imagine in the days of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday and the "Bisbee Mob" that this town thrived with bordello's and shoot outs daily. The hotel is old and thrives with ghost stories about the apparitions and things that get moved by the settlers that don't like what the "modern folk" do. Our bartender Karen was surly but she knows her stuff in a no-nonsense kind of way. The town of Bisbee itself is a cool art community with all kinds of neat things to see. Saloon food was pretty descent. I got the chicken tortilla soup, mozzarella sticks and Mr. L and I shared a ceasar salad. They even let us carve in the wood. So, as Doc Holiday says, "I'll be your Huckleberry"! read more

This review is not for the hotel itself. We did not stay there. We did however, have Thanksgiving dinner during a pandemic there. And they were not prepared for it in any capacity. They advised a $25.00 all inclusive dining experience, for which I was suspect. It was a reverse buffet, of lackluster food, served by individuals who were and were not wearing masks. The dining area was large and socially spaced with about 40 souls, who the establishment felt could be served by one individual. Note to establishment, you need another person. The staff was poorly prepared for a Thanksgiving event, not knowing simple things. Copper Queen, if you are going to do a Christmas event, please get your act together. read more

Booked our Thursday night stay here the morning we left Phoenix (05/28/15). The hotel was easy to find...parking was a little tricky but didn't scare us. Drive past the hotel and there is a parking area right around the corner of the Y.W.C.A. We were greeted and checked in. We received two keys to the room, (that's right keys, not cards). We loaded up the 1940's push button elevator and arrived on the second floor. Great signs helped us find our room quickly. We felt a little like we had step back in time as we turned our round door knob. We opened the room to find a large room decorated with flowers every where and blue carpet. The J. A. Jantz Room...Pretty cool considering my husband monogram is J A. However not cool was the over the top flowered wall paper. I get the want to go vintage and historic but no...should be a place of peace and relaxing. Back in 1902 this was the place for dignitaries and investor to relax in luxury. Just a few tips to the hotel's current owners. Spruce up the place a bit and bring back the luxury. Did you know that I could have booked a king bed, with living room, two TV's and larger bathroom suite for the same price at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Again, I understand the historical value and concept but step up your game or lower your prices. All in all a good trip but next time we might opt to try something different. read more

It was our first time staying at the infamous Copper Queen. Our room was kitschy and cute. The bathroom was less than stellar. The main thing, was the hot water and water pressure were not great. My mother in law, who was in the smaller room, had great water pressure and very warm water. The beds were squeaky, that could be a good or bad thing. It just depends on how you look at it. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would have liked to stay in one of the "haunted" rooms. I will just have to make sure I get one next time. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Copper Queen Hotel for Thanksgiving and the week following. The Thanksgiving dinner buffet was delicious! The dining room is spacious and the wood work and deco is beautifully done. White table cloth, gold silverware and crystal glasses and wait till you see the chandelier. They also have a patio available for food service. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and and dinner and the food was amazing!!! Great service!!! We're in love with this beautiful hotel. We had a wonderful stay. Our room was clean, comfortable bed, new tv and beautifully decorated. There was an assortment of music 7 nights a week. I can now say I've stayed at Arizona's longest continuously operated hotel. The location is prime and you can find nearby parking fairly easily. The hotel has a lot of character to it. From the decor to the elevator to the room keys (it's an actual key), it feels like you're transported to another era. While the experience was cool, I prefer modern, new, and cleaner hotels. This place was amazing! The hotel staff are great and the bar and patio are so much fun! The hotel is very authentic which some people don't like, but I love! Please understand that they try to keep it as original as possible. We definitely had a weird experience in our room. We came up to change and all of a sudden there was a heavy presence, and then my whole body had goosebumps from it being so cold. Rooms 501-505. These rooms are not within the hotel! They are adjacent to it and that alone was a surprise and a big disappointment. $175 for a king bed not in the hotel was ridiculous. We came to experience the hotel and did not get what we bargained for. I complained at check out to a person that seemed uncaring and had the nerve to tell me it was probably because I booked on line rather than calling the hotel direct. Then don't offer on line booking! We also had a plugged shower and a running toilet. 3 little pillows and a TV older than me (okay not really older than me but you get the point). If you are going to charge rates like this at least have bedding and comforts worthy of this price gouging. I was left with the feeling that this ownership is all about the money. Yes the hotel is old but that doesn't mean it still cannot have class. I have stayed here before but I am certain this was my last time. The restaurant was slow but worthy! 8 of us majority had prime rib which was delicious! Waiter was fun! They used to serve breakfast but no more which was disappointing as we didn't realize it and had to figure out where to eat after checking out because they were closed. Stay here, it's cozy and just a tad spooky. Totally cool and historic. The above could be enough, short, honest, and all that matters, but Yelp is making me write more. The staff is super nice. Many of the rooms are named after historic personalities who may have stayed here. We stayed in the Julia Lowell room we saw on Bro- I mean "Ghost Adventures." For those not familiar with her story, Ms. Lowell is said to have been a prostitute who conducted business at the Copper Queen. She allegedly hung herself in a third floor hallway after confessing her love for, and then being spurned by, a former client. I haven't seen the ghost yet, but we are loving the room and the town of Bisbee. The saloon has drinks, bartender was nice. I am excited to come here again and stay in another "haunted suite." Even if there are no ghosts, the historic site is comfortable and reminiscent of the authentic Old West. Edit (next morning): We left a shot of anejo and a candle on the desk table for Ms. Julia Lowell. During the night I heard a loud bang at our door, which could easily be debunked as a late neighbor's arrival at their own suite. What is a little harder to debunk is the lipstick imprint left on the cup of tequila we found the next morning. Like Moulder, I want to believe. We will be back. read more

Lunch at the Copper Queen - at 11:30am, we were a little ahead of the lunch crowd. I had salmon over spinach salad with a balsamic dressing; my friend went with the chicken/mango chutney salad. Both were delicious, fresh and nicely done. The service was attentive without being intrusive. On the down side, the Copper Queen is trying to maintain the look and feel of a turn of the century (19th to 20th) look and feel. With attention to detail, they could get there but anachronisms abound. Modern inverted catchup bottles on the tables stick out like sore thumbs. The table cloths, patterned oil-cloth, was right out of the 1950-60s diner era. Old timey photographs of 19th century heroes and villains on the walls were hung without rhyme or reason. New carpeting or, better yet, hard wood flooring would do wonders to the ambiance. It just seems to me that with a little thought and attention to detail, the owner(s) could take the place from simply a place to eat in Bisbee to an upscale southern Arizona eating destination. Food and service get 5 and 4 respectively from me but the atmosphere fails to meet its seeming goal, so a 2 or 3 at most - averaging about 3 1/2 - 4 overall. read more

DON'T STAY HERE - WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! My friends and I checked in to the Copper Queen on March 3; we had made reservations through Expedia for two (2) rooms: a king and a full. Upon arriving at the hotel, our rooms weren't ready, and we were given bar tokens for drinks while we waited. About an hour later, we checked in - and I was given a queen room on the 2nd floor. I got unpacked, rested, and then went to dinner. While listening to a local band at a nearby bar (@ 10:30 pm), I received a call from the hotel saying there was a problem with my room and to come back to the hotel ASAP. On the way back to the hotel, I received another call saying that "the problem had been resolved". About 15 minutes after getting back to my room, I was called again and told I had to come downstairs immediately to "resolve the problem". In talking with the desk clerk, it turns out I had been given the "wrong room"; another party had reserved the queen room, and I needed to pack my bags and vacate immediately so they could have 'their'room. The hotel's solution to this problem was to move me to a different hotel (at nearly midnight) - with no explanation of how I was supposed to get there. When I asked why I had to move (vs. the other party who had checked in late) - I was told "you need to leave, and if you don't, we'll call the police, and you can be arrested." The police were called, and I was told that they were obligated to follow the rules: this was private property, I had been asked to leave, and if I didn't, they'd arrest me. To resolve the situation, one of my friends decided to drive back home so that his wife and I could share their room; what a lousy way to end what had been a wonderful visit! The staff was rude and refused to provide answers to my questions, including the manager with whom I met with the following morning. There was a complete lack of professionalism and concern for the customer. Neither of the desk managers or the hotel manager ever gave me a reason as to why I was the person that had to leave - even though I had checked in hours ahead of the other party. This is definitely a hotel that I will never stay at again. read more

We spent this past weekend at The Copper Queen Hotel...what a huge disappointment! Before I go on, please know that I'm not one prone to complain; especially during these "Covid" times. I've stayed in this hotel several times in the past and have been satisfied. This time however, I was thoroughly disappointed for the following reasons. 1. We stayed 2 nights...and never had maid service! No new towels, no replenishing of coffee...no notification. When you spend $150 on a room, you expect better. When we first questioned why we did not receive housecleaning services, we were informed by a staff member that you had to specifically request it to receive it. No where was this written and no notifications made to the customer. At checkout, I shared my displeasure at checkout with whom I thought was the manager. She informed us that what we were told the night before regarding housecleaning was not correct and she had no idea why it had not been done. I told her that I thought a small refund might be in order...she agreed and indicated they would address in an email. Next day....received the full bill...no discount...no discussion. 2. The WiFi capability in our room was horrible. 3. Message notification light on the phone right next to my pillow was in permanent blinking mode...yet I had no messages. When I called the front desk, I was told that their were no messages...that it was dysfunctional and that I could simply unplug it...now no phone availability. 4. The hotel is very old...it's part of the charm; but...lack of maintenance is starting to show. AC is decrepit...makes noise...no, not the resident ghosts. So...all in all, I was greatly disappointed and will probably never stay there again; not just because of the deficiencies, but the lack of concern and follow through by the staff...sealed my displeasure. read more

I really wanted to love it here!!! The hotel is beautiful and really holds the uniqueness of its age. The location is great to get to anything you need to by foot. Parking is a little tough, you have to find a spot across the street because the hotel has no parking. But, everything is close so it's not too bad of a walk. The restaurant lacks service. They have one girl that is worth keeping. Now my big complaint... I was charged about three times, charge was reversed, then charged again, then reversed again than charged. I was charged for two rooms and still haven't been refunded for the room I didn't stay in. I've called over and over and still haven't had a call back from the manager. I've been super busy and need to go to the bank to see what I still haven't been refunded. Very poor customer service by the manager or owner. Somehow I will get my money that is owed to me. There are so many other places to stay here and I recommend to do so. You can always visit the hotel and walk around, just don't stay unless you want them to take your money!!!! read more

This review is a combined effort between the hotel, restaurant and bar... Hotel room - Do your research before booking here. The room was miniscule and that's giving it extra credit for the closet. If you have any electronics to plug in(more than 2), you'll have to sacrifice a spot on the bed to rest your devices. Your head will be within inches of the door. The closet is roughly 6sq feet and the shower is roughly 4sq ft - if you are of average size and larger than average feet, showering will be an adventure.... Restaurant - one thing this restaurant is, is proud of their food, and you'll see by the prices! If you are a tourist driven business, I get it, but I can see why the locals don't come during the week. When you are out of chicken thighs because you "just sold the last one" in a completely dead restaurant, I start to worry - is this a ploy to upsell? Ended up having Shrimp Scampi and I wasn't disappointed - was cooked well and seasoned well. For the price of menu items, I was a little disappointed that there was no tableside bread and the house salad was what you'd expect at Outback(lettuce, shaved carrots, chopped tomatoes and a TON of onions). Bar - Sam was a breath of fresh air(literally and figuratively) in this musty hotel. She was attentive, knowledgeable and willing to help. I wish that I would have skipped dinner in the restaurant and had "bar food" but unfortunately, the check-in gal didn't advise of the fact the bar had food... Sam's great service and knowledge made this review tough - if I would have stayed somewhere else and came across this place, it would have been higher stars. Unfortunately i had the most confusing, weird, and just awful restaurant/bar experience that I've ever had. I'm convinced there was some type of miscommunication or something misheard due to us being sort of muffled from our masks. The blonde female bartender was incredibly rude, mean spirited, confronted us more than once over .... ??? They would not tell us what was said by us, but kept telling us we were cussing them out and being rude. Our group has recounted our little amount of conversation we had with her multiple times and we cannot figure out what was rude, we are all just really chill people that wanted a nice night out. I have never been so confused. She was incredibly hostile and we are seriously so confused. They eventually kicked us out and would not explain why, just that "we heard what you said" and no other explanation. I think she was having a terrible day and looking for a fight. I have worked in the service industry and know how hard it can be, but i am utterly bewildered at her hostility over something that was never explained and literally never happened. There's good parts of this hotel, it's charm and some if the staff but the general manager Chrissy Is the absolute worst. She refuses to do what she says she will do and is a bully. Had several encounters with her via email promising to take care of us due to previous bad experiences and then never followed through. Zero hospitality. There are very nice people at this hotel and it holds a special place in my heart but I cannot believe Chrissy is still employed. We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant but did not stay at the hotel. This was during Covid & we entered the hotel wearing masks. The restaurant was completely empty. The menu had 5 breakfast options. I ordered the eggs Benedict. The waitress told me the item was unavailable because the cook was allergic to mustard & therefore could not make Hollandaise sauce. I ordered eggs Benedict sans Hollandaise & others at the table ordered the biscuits & gravy. We were given packets with plastic silverware & a single tiny napkin. Ketchup was 1 oz in a plastic cup. The potatoes were undercooked & the onions burned. The biscuits & gravy were not well reviewed at our table. We had to flag the waitress down to get a refill on our coffee. One gets the impression that there is a problem with management. There are plenty of great restaurants in Bisbee. Don't waste your time on this one. read more

I booked an accessible room six months in advance after multiple emails assuring me the hotel is accessible: they specifically noted they have an elevator and that they would put us in an ADA compliant accessible room. When we arrived, I entered the hotel to learn where the accessible entrance is and I was told there isn't one and that the elevator has been out of service for "over a week". When I noted that the hotel should have called us to let us know so we could make other arrangements, I was told "it hasn't been a problem before". The employee was rude when I expressed my frustration at arriving at the hotel from a distant location and only then being told that I cannot access our room. When I suggested that they make a new policy to contact people who have booked accessible rooms to let them know that the elevator is out of order, the employee responded with: "we see hundreds of people, it's not possible to do that." It took another guest speaking up to convince the employee to contact other hotels to see if they had a room for us (they didn't). In the end, we drove the 30 miles back to our previous location and booked the extra nights there. Do not stay here if you cannot walk up two flights of stairs (at a minimum) or if you're an ally of those with disabilities. I recognize this is a historic hotel and has grandfathered aspects, but a simple courtesy phone call would have saved a lot of trouble for us. read more

We have been coming to the Copper Queen Hotel for the past eight years. We meet our cousins there for New Year's Eve. This year we were disappointed with our stay. The elevator was out of order and we had three people that had a hard time climbing the stairs. The hotel didn't warn us that the elevator was broken. The Near Year's Eve celebration was hokey, the band was weird and you couldn't dance to the music. Some of our party were not able to sleep because of other guest that were very loud and were playing loud music until 3:30 AM. I can't speak to the hotel part of this establishment except to say that the front desk staff were super friendly and the rooms and the pool sure look pretty cool. I can say they make an amazing breakfast served on the front porch. Done of the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. The OJ was fresh and the sausage and bacon were great also. I was hoping for quaint historic hotel and it was far from that. The hotel is run down, dirty, and in need of some serious renovations. The floors in the room were dirty, the toilet in the bathroom was not fully bolted to the floor, the tile countertop had many cracks and missing grout, the public area carpets were also very dirty and on the morning we left a man was sleeping in the hotel lobby. I've stayed in many historic hotels and inns and this was the worst experience I've ever had. If you go to Bisbee, find other lodgings in town or consider a regular hotel in Sierra Vista. read more

They messed up our reservations for our group when they didn't have the rollaway beds for kids that they had promised (causing one couple to find a room elsewhere despite the reservation, just so the kids could have beds), the elevator was broken, the plumbing didn't work in one room, the heat did not work in three of the four room, and then they overcharged us on our credit cards anyway. Trying to get in touch with the hotel afterwards to get this corrected is impossible. They don't return calls or emails. We will never stay here again. Try staying in Tombstone which is not a far drive from Bisbee. read more

We brushed off the dog food we found under the chair in the room. The used toothpick and water bottle we found on the floor were not great. Very fair with the prices..The front desk lady was very nice she was a Spanish lady super good customer service...The room we stayed in was haunted we heard someone walking in the room when we were all sleeping not only that the bathroom smelled like perfume when we walked in it after we were there for 3-4 hours..The bar food was not very good but the lady who served us was really kind we left her a great tip she was taking care of like 7-8 people at one time..I definitely want to return so awesome read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I went to the saloon attached to the hotel and the female bartender was EXTREMELY rude. She couldn't find the DOB on my ID (so I guess that's my fault?) and then asked me where it was so I said "Um it's here" and pointed to the dob. She then told me "that's was actually so fucking rude" and i didn't say anything bc I was so confused how I was being rude. While she was making my drink she said, "it's your tone you should watch that, and you are lucky I even took your ID bc I don't have to." and mocked how I talked to her in an exaggeration of how I talked to her. The bar here is alright so would not touch the actual bar but it is tacky sticky disgusting not sealed, A bacteria haven.
