Such a bad, bad, bad experience and guest service!!! We booked our reservation at the beginning of August for an October stay. We drove 8 hours to get to THIS hotel. We got to the hotel at 1:30pm only to find a paper sheet taped to the desk saying NO early check in before 3pm. We went to go eat. At 2:30pm I received a notification from the hotel stating my reservation was cancelled due to THIER overbooking!! What kind of service is this?? 30 minutes before?? We call immediately and there is NO answer. Must have tried 10 times. We finish eating and go to the hotel. After a long drawn out excuse...come to find out they KNEW back in August the hotel was ALREADY overbooked for October!!! No communication and NOT the experience we drove 8 hours for!!! read more

This is a business that does not pay their debts. Additionally, the lobby of the establishment is dirty and dingy. The front desk staff is rude and equally as cheerless and shabby as the dusty decor and soiled carpets. The owner and her family who run the ill-managed hotel are less than honest. If the Copper Queen is the only option available, consider sleeping in your car. read more

My mom and I have a knack for checking out the places off the beaten path. So when we had a chance to stay the night at The Copper Queen Hotel we couldn't wait. Plenty of idiosyncrasies in the building and rooms. Krissy at the front desk greeted us warmly and enthusiastically and we felt right at home. I'm giving 5 stars because my experience here was wonderful. This may not be for you if you can't overlook the expected wear and tear of an older building but I absolutely loved it. read more

Well took my wife for a short getaway and stayed at the Copper Queen and such a great time. They had a storm the night before and the computers were down but everyone at the front desk made sure that we were going to get into our room. When you walk around the hotel you are walking around in history form the old furniture to the old pictures it was great. The bar was fun meeting new people and just drinking the night away. Had breakfast the next morning and it was great, if you something different I strongly recommend go here. PS Didn't see any ghost this time! read more

Old hotel in Bisbee. Drafty. No central air/heat in room. Wall unit which is very noisy. Tiny tiny shower. Toilet clogged twice. Wifi was pretty much nonexistent in my room, but it worked pretty well in the lobby and the bar. Pool was closed. Food was good. However, the staff seemed pretty uninterested in making the guests feel comfortable. The place has it's charms, but the management needs to step up and make some improvements. The room rate was fair. But parking is challenging. If you want to see anything in Bisbee, prepare to walk. I used to love walking. But now I'm older and suffering from back problems. So I wasn't able to get around much. There are lots of shops and bars close to the hotel, but many shops were closed. Overall, I was pretty disappointed. Bisbee is a cool looking and funky town. It's worth visiting. But i had a better time in Tombstone. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. read more

My son and I stayed in Billy's room (#412) on Monday and we weren't disappointed with the overall experience. Rene @ the front desk was beyond outstanding from the time we called in for the reservation, check-in and throughout our stay. He definitely exceeded all of our expectations. The building itself is beautiful and I find it lovely that it's still operating. However, who ever is running this place seems to have no respect for this historic place. Check in is at 3 but we arrived late, at 4:30 and when we went up to the room the door was open and there were employees in there cleaning it. If we had arrived on time, would it have been filthy? Would they have made us wait or offer another finished bedroom? I guess we'll never know. We still had to wait until they finished anyway. They said another person would come in to clean the bathroom. The kid finally came and he didn't clean up very well. There were dried drops of who knows what on the floor near the trash can and toilet. The toilet bowl was filthy and luckily we had our own toilet paper because they provided none. The only trash can we had was the tiny one inside the bathroom. The bath tub was cracking and falling apart and the shower curtain was dirty/stained with soap so I imagine that wasn't changed out. The soap dispenser didn't work. You had to push the button ten times to get the tiniest drop. The lotion container next to it was broken and in it was dried up lotion. The shampoo and conditioner containers in the shower where the same hand soap. The beds in our room were soft, too soft to the point they were uncomfortable. I doubt the quality of housekeeping because everything looked dirty. The fact that it's an old building is an excuse for mechanical and hardware issues, not cleanliness issues. This place can be amazing if it went into the hands of someone who could properly restore it and treat their employees better so that in turn, they can be motivated to do a better job. This is what $240/2 bed for one night can get you. read more

Stay elsewhere please. Normally, I don't leave reviews unless the experience was either really good or very poor. The check-in and out processes at this hotel are very problematic and the manager is unbelievably rude. I own several businesses, and if I saw one of my managers talking to clients like he did, he would be terminated immediately. His mannerisms and tone are very passive aggressive, hostile, and condescending. People make or break any business, and this business, if it doesn't find better management will continue to flounder. The property itself is in a great location. The hotel has potential as it is a historical building within walking distance of lots of little shops and restaurants. Even though the room was very dirty (bathroom tub and floor were very dirty, the bathroom light was cracked, the carpet hasn't been changed for about 15-20 years and there was dirt on the walls, light switches, and celling), I wouldn't have cared. But the rudeness of the "manager" was the last straw and prompted me to leave this review. We checked in on Friday. Saturday morning, we got up and left to do some sightseeing. Upon return there was a note on the door. I just grabbed the note and laid it on the nightstand as I assumed it was the check-out paperwork as we were leaving the next morning. My husband and I laid down to take a nap and fell asleep. We were awakened at about 4:30 and it was a young girl who asked, "Didn't you get my note?" I said "Yes, but I didn't open it as I assumed it was our check out paperwork." She explained it was a note asking us to call the front desk because they had no record of us being in the room and didn't know who we were. I immediately tried to call the front desk. I called multiple times. It was busy for 10 minutes straight. Finally, someone answered and immediately put me on hold. I sat on hold for another 10 minutes. Then it sounded like someone answered and the line went dead and was disconnected which was frustrating. I redialed and it was busy again. After about 25 minutes, my husband said, "Forget it, I'll just go back down and talk to them in person." We were on the 4th floor. The hotel has an elevator; however, it wasn't working on multiple occasions when we had gone up and down the stairs because the maids kept blocking it and leaving their carts in there. This wasn't a big deal for us because we are both mobile and have no issues walking up or down stairs. However, if I were elderly, had an injury, etc. it would have been a super big inconvenience because I wouldn't have been able to get a hold of the front desk (since the number was busy for over 25 minutes) or get down using the elevator (a safety issue). My husband went down and had to explain who he was, go over his check-in process again, etc. The manager finally realized that whoever checked us in gave us the wrong room key and listed on their paperwork that we were in a different room. So, the mistake was on their end, but they treated my husband as if he was the one who made the error and seemed offended that my husband didn't offer to move. The manager also explained that they were made aware of the mistake because they gave the same room key to someone else, and those people came down to report there was someone already in the room. So, not only were we woken from a nap, unable to call, unable to use the elevator, treated like we inconvenienced them, but then we were told someone else had been allowed to enter our room (which is another safety/security issue). When we came down for dinner a few hours later, the "manager" said, "Oh yeah, you are the ones that were in the wrong room." My husband then said, "You gave us that room, and I didn't appreciate being woken up from my nap." The manager then responded, "Well we already dealt with that. I am aware you were woken up. We don't need to revisit that again. Mistakes happen." We just let it go and left for dinner. The next morning, we got up and went down to check out. We stood at the check-in counter for about five minutes waiting for someone to return. We knocked at the counter and said, "Anyone there?" Nothing. There's a large metal box next to the check-in window that says, "Key Return". Not wanting to wait any longer, we dropped the key in the box and heard it hit the bottom of the box making a loud clinking sound. We figured it was the only key in the box by the noise it made. About six hours later, my husband got a call from the same unfriendly manager stating that because we had not returned the key, they were charging us $50. We told him we had returned the key and explained we waited there for 5 minutes, and the desk was unattended. He told us they couldn't be at the desk at all times because they had lots of other work to do like cleaning bathrooms. He said they would review the video footage and if they saw us return the key, they would refund the charge. I asked him to have his manager call me as I was completely disgusted by this experience. read more

I really try to be fair in reviewing small and family owned businesses as they don't always get enough credit compared to the chains, but this was a terrible experience for my friends and I. We checked in and everything seemed to be okay. The room wasn't too nice as the shower head sprung a leak when I showered and water got EVERYWHERE. We called for towels and the bozos downstairs took almost an hour and half to bring them so we went downstairs to get them ourselves. The room wasn't that clean as the floor was visibly dirty and the dressers were dusty. If that's all that happened, I would give review at least three stars since it was a cool little historical hotel with lots to see and good drinks downstairs. It was when we checked out that the financial nightmare began. For my birthday, my friend wanted to take me to Bisbee, AZ. She reluctantly threw the hotel charge on her card. We called the day before arrival, three separate times after comparing rates to other hotels and also for requesting an emailed receipt (which we never got). So they answered their phones to accept our reservation and answer our questions. After we left a few days later, they refunded the $50 deposit to my friend's debit card but within 24 hours, they took money out of her account and put it towards another room, without her consent. $434.89 was stolen from her after she had already paid the first time and whoever at the front desk was operating the card transactions knew exactly what they were doing. Well, we decided to call them and sort it out: no luck. They didn't answer the phone. We continued to call with no success for the next two days. My friend had to call a local hotel nearby and told the front desk lady what was happening. She said "oh, they're not answering? You're not the first to report that. They never answer their phones." My friend and I live 4 hours away from Bisbee so driving down and speaking with someone isn't so easy. The front desk girl from the other hotel was so kind and went out of her way after her shift at 2 PM to talk to someone. The front desk people at the Copper Queen were there but refused to take my friend's phone number and call her back and said just report it to the bank as fraud. The bank opened up today and said it wasn't fraud, they just charged twice and now they're refunding my friend. So we continued to call the Copper Queen, still with no luck. If I could get a hold of them I would, but I implore anyone reading this to try calling these clowns, guaranteed they won't answer their phones. The hicks running this place are about as smart as a doorknob so I'm not surprised they don't know how to pick up a phone, they're only smart enough to steal money from their guests. These people are CROOKS. Look, I get it if you want to stay in a haunted hotel, but they're a dime a dozen in Bisbee, stay elsewhere. If we don't hear back from them and no one will answer the phone, I'd really like to report this to the BBB and potentially file a suit in small claims court because this is straight up theft. We were very disappointed- the room was nothing like what was represented- worse than third world country hotels. Hotels in Bisbee are normally old but functional cleanliness, light bulbs not working, no cold water, no sofa as advertised in room, no iron or ironing board. Words cannot describe how bad the mattress was. We've stayed so many times in Bisbee at other places and decided to try The Copper Queen. When we couldn't reach the front desk prior after trying over 20 times no answer that should have given us why we should not stay there. Upon arriving the front desk again was empty. This hotel is located right in Bisbee's charming downtown. It's historic - the oldest hotel in Arizona, with famous former guests like Teddy Roosevelt. The outside is nicely maintained. The lounge is comfortable and the bartender/server is fun to talk with. However: There is no parking on-site. In fact there is no parking nearby. The city of Bisbee maintains a public lot behind the YWCA near the Copper Queen, but it has limited spaces. Good luck on Saturday nights. The few parallel parking spaces on the street in front of the hotel are jealously guarded by hotel staff, and so are unavailable for guests - even just to stop briefly and drop off luggage. That means you'll be schlepping your luggage across roughly paved roads with no sidewalks, from whatever distance at which you finally found parking. Our check-in was difficult, with 2 staff members giggling their way through a 10 minute process of trying to enter us into the computer, while they ignored the constantly ringing phone. Most importantly, we later found out that neither employee had mentioned some vital information. (They also failed to tell our friends, who all checked in separately later in the evening, so this seems to be a chronic failure.) The rooms are filthy (carpet, bathtub, toilet), and full of broken fixtures (coffee pot, towel rack, dripping faucet). Now the unforgivable part: the exterior doors lock at night. Apparently there is a numerical code guests can use for entrance - none of us were told this at check-in. We went out for dinner and drinks, came back to the hotel at 11:00, and found we were locked out. We called the front desk to no avail. We stood outside for 10 minutes in 36 degree temperatures, calling repeatedly. We were lucky enough that the bartender from the lounge saw us as he was leaving for the night, and let us in that way - I'd like to really emphasize that without that coincidence we would have been stuck outside all night. As we walked through the lobby we found the front desk employee passed out behind the registration desk. Not lightly dozing - passed out and extremely difficult to rouse. When we checked out in the morning there were a total of 4 parties in line - all had major complaints. If you're a ghost hunter, and rather serious about it, stay here and happy hunting. If you're not, spare yourself and stay elsewhere - Bisbee has plenty of other options and at least one must be clean and safe. read more

The bartender was nice and helpful. The balcony patio off the bar was comfortable. The lobby and mezzanine are beautiful. Some of the people who worked there were friendly but honestly everyone seemed like they were on something.... To say disliked our stay would be an understatment and so disappointing · We were very excited to stay at this hotel. There is a difference between old and dirty. Our bathroom was disgusting. I regret not taking a picture. The tub looked like it had never been cleaned. There was no bath mat. There was a ring in the tub and the floor of it looked like after you wash a hairy dog and don't rinse the dirt and hair down. The room was cold and there was a thin blanket on the bed. No comforter, no extra blanket. TV never worked. There was what looked like gel or toothpaste on the side of the sink. As if that was not disappointing enough.....when we checked in we were given our room number and sent on our way. AT NO TIME WHATSOEVER were we told that the hotel closes and locks the door after a certain time, even as we were leaving in the evening to go out no mention was made. Fast forward to around midnight when we were outside the hotel in 26 degree weather locked out with no way to get into the hotel. Apparently there is a code you have to have. 2786 remember that code. write it down. You cannot get in without it. By the grace of luck the bartender happened to be just getting ready to leave and was able to let us in. We called on the phone for 15 minutes trying to reach someone at the front desk. When we finally got in the girl at the desk was passed out and didn't even seem to recognize that we were upset and had been locked out and had been trying to get the attention of someone to let us in. This hotel was a dump. I have stayed at alot of places. Old is one thing. Gross and unkept is another. Please do yourself a favor and don't stay here. As for the ghosts. I was on the fence of believing in true haunting. We were in room 206. We had atleast 2 visitors. Be careful what you wish for. Once you hear things and experience things you cannot un hear or experience them. Our room was not necessarily malevolent although, our visitors one seemed sad (child crying thru my phone) and other maybe angry we were still there? There were a number of things that 100% were not explainable and long story short I do not believe I will stay somewhere haunted again and I am glad sage is readily available to buy in town. But the hotel is a cool place to go and look around. Have a drink on the patio.... and then keep on keepin on. I try to find positive and say something nice, but truly it was just crap especially for the price. I really hope someone takes over this hotel and makes it what it potentially could be.... but right now I think we would have been more comfortable sleeping in our car.... I don't have pictures of the room because after our experiences we erased them so not to bring any of the energy that was there back with us. read more

We visited the saloon on Saturday, 9/28/19 at around 6:30 pm for appetizers and drinks. When I went to order our food, the bartender (I wish I had gotten their name) I was told that I wouldn't be able to order food for at least 30 minutes because they weren't taking any more orders since they and the restaurant were busy and backed up. I understand that they were busy and we would have been fine with waiting for our food but the tone and attitude I got was unacceptable. They could have easily taken our order and just informed us of the backup and it would have been fine. When I asked if we could order drinks, the bartender put up their hand (like they were telling me to stop) and said "yeah but I'm going to need a minute" and walked away. Needless to say, we didn't bother staying and received excellent service elsewhere. Being busy is not an excuse to be rude to customers. Though our actual stay at the hotel was excellent, I wouldn't visit the saloon again - seeing as how it's unlikely I'd be served! read more

It's Late October and it's another Harley Overnighter, our club is participating in the Tombstone celebration here in Arizona so we will be staying in a town called Bisbee, a famous Historic Location called the Copper Queen Hotel This is an historic and beautiful hotel! The Deco is of the 1800 and very antique, as you enter the main lobby floor it's very eclectic, you can feel a very spiritual vibe in this place, definitely a ghostly presence in the hotel. Each room is decoratively themed differently from the other, some are large to accommodate the family and some were very small. The saloon area is left in its somewhat original state but updated just enough to satisfy the town required code standards The hotel & saloon staff was attentive at best, mind you this is a small town with NOT a lot of experience with good customers service skills and you will find this with ALL its staff members. So you will need to have your patience. The hotel charm is fantastic, It has a bit of a "WoW Factor", it's decorated to the old time era, the down fall of this hotel was the fact that it really, really needs to be updated, you are paying top dollar and expecting good hotel standards, The pillows, mattress, towels, bathroom floor/tub, carpet etc were all in need of an update. Keep the charm but spend some funds to make a fresh update. we loved the town of Bisbee as well as its country folk, you will enjoy all the artsy shops it has to offer, its little history each store or venue has to offer and lots fun things to do and places to eat,definitely a Great time! read more

This hotel is not what it used to be years ago. It's like a glorified motel six. Stains in hallway floor with mismatched carpet, elevator is down, pool is closed, dining area is closed. It feels dirty and dingy. Didn't see one house keeping cart the whole trip, they don't even give complimentary soaps in the bathroom like they used too.. they kept extra toilet paper on top of the bathroom fixture. We are a senior couple enjoying Bisbee for the atmosphere of the old mining town. We got the surprise of our life when we could find NO PARKING. Even the designated parking lot was a long way to lug our suitcases! So we found a spot on the street FINALLY! We opened the trunk and packed an overnight bag with mainly toothbrushes and a change of underwear! Even so, there were two flights of stairs and absolutely no assistance of any type from the hotel! They stood behind the front desk and watched us struggle! I do not suggest that anyone over 60 stay here. We are an agile couple who exercise regularly..so judge for yourself how much you are willing to struggle for ambiance! The room was comfortable and spacious! The bar was cozy and friendly! Once we settled into the room we enjoyed our moments in central Bisbee! We looked for hotel ghosts but alas, could find none! read more

We had a great stay here. Not big believers in ghostly stuff, but I did capture a weird picture of a face on a wall in the mirror..and NO, not my own. My wife had scary dreams of ghosts all night.. but I slept great. CQ is just an old hotel with a lot of history. The desk clerk was really nice. My only complaint would be very little to no parking. Fun, quirky hotel in the heart of Bisbee that has been there since 1902!! I love that they're dog friendly, we were able to take our poodle with us. We chose the lowest cost room option, and it was TINY, and there was literally nothing on TV unless you paid more, but that was fine, we weren't there for the room. The staff at the front were friendly, and let us check in early so that we could make it to the mine tour on time, and were very thorough with explaining the way the bill worked. The pool was also super small and under-whelming... I definitely wouldn't go for the pool. The main carpets also looked like they were about 100 years old, and haven't ever been changed, and the concierge didn't seem to know a lot about where places were, but she did sell us a map for $5.00 lol. Overall, it is a fun, historical place to stay, you can catch the lavender jeep tours from the front, and the Bisbee Tour Company picked us up here and gave us a complimentary ride to the Mine Tour thanks to front desk staff for telling us about this! The live music on Saturday night was great! We enjoyed hanging at the bar and listening, and in the comfy couches, and again being able to take our dog to the bar area! It's fun and quirky and fits right in with your Bisbee experience! read more

The service was absolutely terrible. They came to our table three times and never actually took our order. We had to go help ourselves. He never gave us silverware. The bacon was raw. The buffet was terrible but we ordered it just because he never came back to our table we are starving. I would never ever come back to here again. read more

I love Bisbee and The Copper Queen Saloon is always a place I stop by for a drink or two when in town. I remember coming here as a little girl and sitting out on the patio while my family had drinks inside now I'm the alcoholic enjoying drinks here, LOL! Bartenders are fun and while the bar isn't drop-dead gorgeous, it's a fun place to grab some drinks and enjoy all it's historic elements. read more

I don't even know where to start with this review. Very disappointing. We reserved on line with no reply. My husband tried to call several times...no answer. No designated area (or signage) of where to unload or park. There is no parking...guess they do have a sign... No breakfast. No dinner Front desk staff haven't a clue of what they are doing or what's going on. Saloon seems to be overloaded by picking up the food orders...they make you wait 1/2 at the bar to order a drink...and then they are out of what you want. Couldn't get food in the bar for two hours because the needed to inventory a delivery...yeah be there early if you want to eat because they'll tell you it was the group before you that has caused this problem. Not exactly what is sure is going on with this place right now...could be new owners and growing pains? I won't stay here again. Pro. Room was clean and comfortable. read more

We did not stay as guests in the hotel and I don't think we ever will. It is amazingly old and historically so! I highly suggest just stopping in and exploring the hotel though! The staff were very kind! We asked to explore a little of the main floor and they kindly invited us to explore the upstairs as well. Unbelievably awful "service" here. I got locked out, because my manual key--who even still uses those?--got lost and the number they had posted for after hours got me to a woman who sounded groggy and immediately started whining about how I was inconveniencing her by calling her. Hello--aren't you getting paid to help customers with their after hour difficulties? And when I got frustrated about this situation, she immediately launched into a diatribe about how I was "disrespecting" her -- for not doing her job and leaving a customer who she was specifically supposed to be helping out in the cold in the middle of the night. Anyone else sick of the "disrespectful" card being used to defend lazy, irresponsible, unhelpful behavior? Don't stay here. Just don't. read more

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I stayed in the hotel after Thanksgiving with my family-four rooms. The elevator did not work (forcing an 84 year old woman to walk three flights of stairs), one of the rooms did not have functioning plumbing, we were promised two rollaway beds and they gave them to other guests before we got there, the heat did not work in three rooms. Stayed here for our anniversary when we visited Bisbee. Wife and I love history and the added allure of being haunted was an added draw to stay here. Rooms all small but that's how it was in the old days. Bed was comfortable too. The decor was cool and enjoyed the history of the hotel. No parking though Draw back was that our room was right above the kitchen area and we were woken up at 6:30am by the kitchen staff. They were talking very loud , heard every word as they moved around, and really think the hotel needs to do something about this Also, shower was very very small! My husband and I spent one night at this "Haunted Hotel" ..... unfortunately nothing spooky happened but we did enjoy our stay. The bed was comfortable, the hotel was peaceful ... no noise to keep us awake (even the ghosts kept it down) and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room we had was small but cute and cozy. Only problem I experienced was the size of the shower in this particular room .... you need to be quite flexible and may want to make sure you have adequate insurance before attempting to shave your legs! lol To experience a bit of history and maybe if you are lucky meet a ghost or two this hotel is definitely worth staying at. read more

We made reservations this morning for a trip later this month. With in two minutes of the reservation we noticed the date was wrong. Called and tried to get the date fixed but they were no availability's those days. Refused to refund us. It was a simple mistake but they plan to keep over $300 all for a typo. read more
