The common deck was a perfect place to start or end the day with views of the water. We walked those routes many times during our stay. It was also very conveniently located within walking distance of the Alaska Rail station. It is not located near any grocery stores, however, so we did a big Costco shop shortly after our arrival in Anchorage. Our room was on the top floor and we had a great view through the living room window. The bedroom has plenty of closet space as well as a comfortable queen sized bed and ceiling fan. The bathroom is small with no bathtub, but has an awesome rain shower. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Because we stayed as long as we did, we did not receive the bagged breakfast offered to other guests. We were asked what we would like and were given fruit, bread, eggs, yogurt, butter, bacon, bananas, apples, oranges and granola. Basically, everything we asked for, we received. It was great being able to make our own breakfasts! Compared to the price of hotels, many of which are located only a block or two away from the Arctic Fox, this place is a good deal. As well, as the privacy of your room, you have access to a large outdoor deck with tables and chairs as well as a grassy area with a table and chairs and there is a common room and a laundry room. A cab to/from the airport cost us just $25. Now, as for the negatives. Anchorage has a homeless problem. Many homeless are attracted to a soup kitchen located within a block of the Arctic Fox. They did not harass us or approach us at any time, but they are there in numbers and it wasn't all that pleasant having to walk by them as often as we did. Most nights we didn't hear them either, but there were a couple of nights where they kept us awake with their shouting. This b&b is also located near the train tracks and during the day, especially if you have your windows open, the trains can be noisy. We were not bothered at night, however, because the bedroom is on the side opposite to where the tracks are located.

We didn't mind walking around but if you want to be close to restaurants/shops this may not be the place for you. It doesn't look like much on the outside but once you're inside, it's pretty. There are no elevators so if you have bags they will help you carry them up. The common area is on the 2nd floor and so was our room. Some rooms share bathrooms. We didn't want to share so we requested a room with your own bathroom. When we checked in, Carol took good care of us, she was our host during our stay. She was a sweetheart, every morning she made breakfast and it was good. Yes, your stay comes with free breakfast. If you can't stay for breakfast just let your host know the day before and they will prepare you a bag and have it ready for you in the morning. House keeping was great! Our room was spotless! The whole place was spotless! The only complaint I have is that the walls are thin. It's an old house, I understand. We are from the east coast so we were in bed by 8pm. When other people came back from dinner we could hear them loud and clear, the walking and closing doors, etc. This was our first time at a Bed & Breakfast so we didn't know what to expect. While we enjoyed our stay we have discovered that we actually preferred hotels over B&B's. If you like B&B's and don't mind walking to the center of town or driving, then I would say give this place a try.

Private bathrooms were a wonderful thing to have as not all B&B's have that and you have the daily morning fight for the bathroom. It is hard to get a feel of a B&B just from the pictures and reviews but after spending some time here I can highly recommend staying with Krista and Zack. Yes, there's breakfast but it's nothing special and it is not a sit-down hot breakfast. The location is awful. Yes, it's close to the airport so if you need to be close to the airport that's a good thing I guess. But there's nothing other than a gas station and a couple of chain restaurants (McDonalds, etc.) within walking distance. And because it's right on Lake Hood the seaplanes are taking off and landing throughout the day which is VERY loud. If you're hoping for a mid-day nap be sure to bring earplugs. The entire hotel is decorated in a plane/flying theme - it was way over the top in my opinion but I guess that appeals to some people. The rooms are very dated (think early 90s) but clean and comfortable. The prices are really high, it was more expensive than the awesome B&B we stayed in just a few days prior (Wildflower Inn near downtown Anchorage, do yourself a favor and book there), and it didn't even have a full breakfast. The woman (owner?) who checked us in was nice but a bit disorganized. Overall I would not recommend this hotel, there's places that offer much plusher rooms and amazing breakfasts for less cost.

I chose to stay at a BnB instead of a hotel for recovery; mostly because of an intimate setting instead of a busy hotel. They had hosted others for surgery and knew a lot about the schedules, the recovery of others and calmed a fear or two. The breakfasts were over the top with fruit, cereal and hot breakfasts. There was always tea and coffee available. They were helpful, provided a few rides to the surgery center, played cards with me, and had great conversations! Thank you Jim and April! Great B&B with wonderful hosts!…read more My friend and I stayed three nights in July 2016. We were in town for the Her Tern Half Marathon, and we couldn't have asked for a better location. The start line was literally right in front of the B&B! Super convenient! The B&B is also conveniently located to attractions in Downtown Anchorage. For example, it's only about a 20-25 minute walk to the Alaska Railroad Depot. The hosts really go out of their way to make you feel at home. Vic is super sweet, and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him. He offered to drive us to the Alaska Railroad Depot and even offered to drive us to the airport at 5:00 am on our day of departure. We really couldn't have asked for better hosts! The rooms are clean, and we found our room very spacious even though it was the smallest room. The shared bathroom was always clean and had all of the essentials - towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair dryer, etc. If I'm ever in the Anchorage area again, I will definitely stay here!
