Very nice new hotel in downtown Anchorage. The inside is absolutely fantastic, the rooms are exceptionally well appointed. The staff is helpful and friendly and it's the "hippest" hotel by far in all of Anchorage IMO and I've stayed in MOST of the Hilton hotels in Anchorage and the Captain Cook. The only downside of the Wildbirch is the noise -- it can be a little noisy downtown if you select a room facing 4th street. I'm a light sleeper and it wasn't TOO bad, but it wasn't quiet. They give you earplugs to drown out the noise. The rooms are really exceptional with lots of dimming capabilities for the various lights, super nice touches, nice coffee features, super cool/ cute / clean bathroom, the bed is top notch with super nice linens. Nice little coffee shop and super cool looking bar/restaurant. Anchorage has come a long way! All in all, I would stay again, as the hotel options in Anchorage are not very good, nor have they ever been good. It would be nice to have a machine to make some white noise to drown out the cars on 4th street -- I would give this place 5 stars! Nice addition to the hotel scene in Anchorage! The Wildbirch Hotel - super cool room - Hotels Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

We booked this hotel because it was in walking distance to the Alaska Railroad terminal, where we were coming from after sailing on a long cruise that docked in Seward. It turns out that the two-block walk is up a steep hill, so we needed to wait about 15 minutes for a taxi because walking uphill with all our luggage was impossible. We ended up at the hotel at about 11pm and had an 8am flight the next morning, so all we wanted to do was get some sleep. We arrived at the hotel with a security guard standing by their luggage carts, watching us schlep our four rolling bags. He or nobody else offered to help. The check-in staff was efficient and friendly enough, recommending we take the far elevator because the closer one would involve steps. We walked the length of the hotel, about as long as the cruise ship, pushing a heavy luggage cart. The cart came within millimeters of hitting the smoke detectors on the low ceiling, an uncomfortable feeling like driving a minivan through a low parking garage. When we arrived at our room, we opened the door and there was somebody sleeping in it! More correctly, they were in the adjacent room and the connecting door between the two rooms was open. We closed the connecting door and found ourselves in a studio with a double sized murphy bed with a couch in front of it. We moved the couch, lowered the bed, found pillows on a shelf and tried to sleep. We ending up sleeping only about three hours. The air conditioning was very loud and we used towels from the bathroom as pillows because the pillows were far too thick to be comfortable. Now awake, we checked our reservation and saw that we had reserved a room with a king bed, not a double pullout bed. We called the front desk staff, who again was friendly enough, but there was no manager on duty so they said someone would call us back. We expect in the end we'll get back the points we used for this room as Hyatt Rewards members, but that's not going to make up for the very poor ending to an otherwise wonderful vacation. read more

A former hotel converted into a JdV property The Wildbirch Hotel is fine, but debatable if worth the price point. The best aspect of The Wildbirch is the location. The downtown spot puts many of Anchorage's best restaurants in walking distance. Loved that! Their on-site restaurant is also great. They have a super cute pricy gift shop as well with fun and unique items. Otherwise? Meh. The room we stayed in was aesthetically pleasing but not entirely functional or ready. The two beds left very little space between them or to their sides so often felt cramped. The bathroom door, a slider, had a useless lock that couldn't function due to the gap between the track and the frame. The water pressure left much to be desired and the bathroom itself was tiny. The room's condition was suspect upon check-in. The carpet between the beds was very damp and the smell of cleaner made me wonder if the carpet had been hastily cleaned. Which may have explained the splattered material on the bottom of the bathroom door which I could not determine what the splatter was. The room was not quiet. Frequent train whistles punctuated the night. The interaction with the front desk staff was unusual. They were quite evasive with every question. We inquired why the downstair entrance doors were always locked and were told there were characters nearby. We asked if there were safety concerns upon seeing the very attentive, actively patrolling visible security staff. We were told they were there primarily for the parking lot but I always saw them inside the building. The item that got me the most was their insistence we take an alternate route to our room instead of going up the elevator to our floor. No explanation, just insistence. Turns out there's four stairs leading down from our floor's elevator lobby to the hall. That isn't difficult to explain, and not difficult for us to manage. The hallway is very long when staying at the opposite end. The Wildbirch's interior, especially the lobby areas, are very fun and beautiful. For the price point, tho, I'm not sure I'd return with everything else. read more

i am part of an organization that has monthly lunch meetings at this hotel. The Lunch room is private, a nice size and first class. White tablecloth service, servers bring out meals (one meal) but fresh and not Buffet style like most in town. At the most recent meeting, we had seared ahi tuna nichoise salad. It was very upscale for a lunch meeting. for dessert, something I really kind of dulche de ledge dessert, pictured. Everything is always prepared and cooked really well with the best ingredients. I love this place for our monthly meetings - each time a different meal and dessert but always first class. read more

But when i found out that the front desk staff held a box of fish for my other colleague to keep in the freezer and we were denied i was extremely perturbed. Yes its racial. I don't need to go into details, but im sure anyone with the right mindset can paint that simple picture. Extremely unacceptable. Disgusting please do better read more

I stayed at the Wildbirch Hotel for five nights and very much enjoyed my stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable with a cozy rustic theme. Rooms have blackout curtains which is helpful if you're visiting during the summer. The lobby has a small seating area with a fireplace near the hotel restaurant and coffee shop/gift shop. There is more seating available on the first floor. Staff is welcoming and responsive to any questions or concerns. The location is in close proximity to many great downtown restaurants and the coastal trail. If you have a car there is a parking lot in the back which costs $15 per day. I would definitely like to stay here again! read more

I thought this hotel was great for my needs. There was a number of nice restaurants we can make short walking distance. The rooms are updated and have a unique character. I love that the windows do a complete blackout if you need to catch a nap or sleep during the daylight. Staff was friendly, bed was comfortable, shower was good and the in-room coffee and tea were great. read more

This place has homeless folks who smoke crack outside the windows of your room. The Crimson which is one of the restaurants ran out of food many entrees were not available. The service was slow.. they try to class the place up but it's a dump. read more

This is probably one of the best hotels in Anchorage.. a bit more expensive but worth it! Don't judge it by the exterior but more by the interior, the rooms are awesome. Walking in... you have a small coffee shop/ restaurant bar/ check in desks complete with fireplace! The rooms are big with great king beds with quality linens/ nice bathroom/ lounge area/ large flat screen & nice lighting. Every room also has INDIVIDUAL climate control, an espresso machine and a rustic theme! Now this is a bit more expensive but you're paying for quality.. We stayed here during our trip to Anchorage, and it's such a pretty hotel! We were a little surprised when we were dropped off, as the outside looks a bit unassuming (not a negative, just unexpected) but it's absolutely gorgeous inside. There's a restaurant and a café, a nice fitness center, and the rooms are spacious and have refrigerators (a necessity for both of us). I'm not sure what happened with check in, but our reservation didn't initially show up in their system for some reason. It took about 20-30 minutes for it to be resolved, so that was a bit frustrating on top of a LONG day of travel just to get to Anchorage. But once that was sorted, we were happy to relax and freshen up in our nice room before we walked to our trolley tour, and then to Sullivan's for dinner. It's in a great location, near grocery stores and gas stations, and there are even tourist spots and shops nearby. I'd be happy to stay here again. read more

So I went to the hiring event here that was scheduled on indeed at first the hiring event manager had asked me to come back at 12:00 so I had done so she wanted me to talk to the chef for one of the positions I wanted to fill up fill out for the other position that I had filled out for was for housekeeping the housekeeping manager the only talk to me for 5 minutes and barely even gave me an interview the hiring event manager then asked me if I wanted to come back again a second time and she said she had no idea when the chef would come down and talk to me the management here obviously did not know what they were doing and needs more experience read more

Today I went to check out "The Crimson" and had their signature burger. It was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. There is just something about a good brioche bun. Then, I hit a post workout push day in the fitness center. The workout area was clean and has fresh towels and conveniently chilled water from the dispenser.
