Finding a reliable mechanic is hard and scary. If you've ever seen the Seinfeld episodes that involve cars they're funny because they're true. I still love my guys back home in Jersey more (sorry) and try to have them do at least one oil change a year BUT...Coppins is my go-to place. Yes, they're convenient. But I've been pretty happy most of the time. Their service is good whether it's the front desk or the guys in the shop. I had one time when I didn't feel like the guy really listened to me and I had to bring my car back twice withing a month to finally get the (minor) issue fixed but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I know there are negative reviews on here so read everything here. But, if you're in the area of the Village of Lewiston I'd feel safe bringing my car here and would trust that I'll be charged a reasonable amount. I just had my car serviced for winter -- o&f change, tires rotated, new wiper blades, and whatever else they had to do -- and felt it was a totally fair price. read more

Interesting reviews. Not surprising as modern cars are a enigma to most people and a broken car can be a crap shoot anywhere. For the few bad reviews here, I'll go in for 5 stars. For many years they have fixed my cars, wife's cars, kids cars, employees cars (and yes many of them were single young ladies on their own in the world with no idea about getting cars fixed). They never got taken advantage of or steered wrong. I haven't always been fair to them. Dropping off an old foreign car or even a Tesla. Some rattle trap antique. They've always come through. So to that end I gotta say they do fine work. Prices are as the same as anywhere. They are not out to scam people. They fix a lot of cars around here for a lot of long time residents - local Police and the USPS included - they wouldn't be around long if they weren't competent and trustworthy. I would say if you are broken down in Lewiston this is as good a place as any to get it fixed. read more

OVERCHARGED!!! I called for an estimate on a wheel alignment and was quoted $79.95. I called again about a week later to schedule it and confirmed the price of $79.95. My girlfriend picked the car up and came back with an invoice of $99.95. I called for an explanation and was told there was extra labor because the adjusting nuts were rusted. That was an outright lie. I, put the new tie rod ends on, and yes the old ones were rusted and frozen. I broke them loose myself the night before we took the car in when I installed the new parts. All the mechanic had to do was loosen 2 already free adjusting nuts. The lady said she would see what she could do and call me back. Guess what? NO CALL BACK! read more

Took a little longer than I expected, but the front desk lady was REALLY nice and personable!! Very clean! Awful service. If I could give ZERO stars I would. My drivers rear side light was out. And my parents took my car to Coppins to fix my light whom live in Lewiston. I had no idea our light was broken. The light went out again AFTER coppins supposedly fixed it.. So I went myself to buy a light from Walmart. My husband put the light in a few days later himself and discovered it was bracketed and completely busted. My husband called Coppins about the light they stated we must have backed into something and they had to break it further to get the light fixed. They had ZERO communication with us regarding this issue. I will never return. I have used Coppins many times before and they could care less. They are the only automotive in the village now. And get away with a lot such as this. I will Never ever return! read more

I booked my band into our annual Niagara Falls, NY shows again this year, just as I have done the past eight years! However, unfortunately, while on my way back from the event heading to our usual lodging hotel and spa resort in Lewiston, NY, my Dodge Caravan lost power with the headlights flickering and broke down. I knew right away it was either my alternator or my trusty Auto Craft Gold battery of the past five years! WOW! Never had I owned a battery that had ever lasted that long! Well, I called for help and got my jumper cables out and moved the van over to the town center visitor's parking lot. The next day I went to Advance Auto Parts and replaced the battery, but the battery light stayed on! So then, for sure, I knew it was the alternator! Sooooo, I drove it on into Lewiston, and there seemed to be only just one auto shop in the main downtown area, Coppins Service Center, Inc. I stopped in and spoke with Nicole, whom assured me that they were wayyyy backed up, and I could see that they were! But I made my plea as a broken down "out of towner" and this was an emergency! She so ever nicely accepted the repair, but with no promises that they could get to it today, but more like in the morning- the next day, when I was to make my departure to leave! I said "Awesome! I so appreciate that!" I also stressed my concerns of breaking down on the long trip back home to the Washington, DC area and that "I need it to be be fixed right!" She said she understood perfectly and that they would "TEST" the electrical system and since I had just installed a brand new battery, that it was probably just an alternator, of which, we both agreed on that! Within a few hours, she called me at the hotel and said "The battery light is off and everything checked out fine, it was just loose terminals!" I replied "No!" " I installed that battery myself and that it was "nice & tight!" But she insisted that the battery light was off and it was "good to go"! When I got there and saw the invoice repair ticket and it stated that they... had ran a systems' load test, ie... electrical system to starting & charging analyzer, run battery load test, check alternator, check start draw and battery connections, etc. The Tech was GD. I paid them the $75.33 with my Visa Card and left. Once down the road heading back home, 140 miles away, approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes out of Lewiston, the battery light came on again. So I had to pull off at the small town of Campbell, NY, of which, lucky for me, right there was Home Town Automotive. Dave took it right in and as I stood in his shop, he placed the test connectors on the battery and the charging and IMMEDIATELY identified the dying ALTERNATOR just like that! He replaced the alternator within the hour and we all got back home safely with no further problems, and the electrical system is still going strong in my Dodge Van 14 days later, today, June 18, 2019. Footnotes: Before leaving town in Lewiston, the next morning, I had stopped across the street from Coppins, over at the bakery, so I walked over and thanked them again! Gary, the big tech guy who had worked on my van the day before stated... " Ohhhhh, you won't have anyyyyy problems after what I did! She's all good to go- don't worry you'll get home safe!" Well, such was NOT THE CASE! He had NOT even barely looked at the vehicle! Obviously, I was an out of town nuisance on a very busy weekend of June 3, 2019. They just wanted to pat me on the head and send me on down the road - not their problem! - Once home, I called back to Coppins and spoke several times to Nicole and she suggested that Jay Coppins, the owner would call me. HE NEVER HAS YET and when I've called back to Coppins- they must have caller ID, because they didn't my calls until I blocked their ID reader and then they answered, not knowing it was me! STILL NO RESPONSE FROM COPPINS! I want my $75.33 back for NOTHING having been done!!! DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE! THEY LIE TO YOUR FACE WITH A SMILE! My true rating here is ZERO, not one. I had my oil changed here a few months ago - they did so quickly and the people I spoke to were respectful and kind, and their pricing is reasonable. They are super easy to access - I made my appointment online. I accidentally made it at the wrong time so I called to change my time and they were very nice about it! It's great to have an auto repair shop right in town. I'll definitely be going here again. read more

My family has been going to Coppins on and off for 35 years. The work they do is of very high quality. Quickly get your car fixed and back on the road. They are honest and in many cases offer you two options. My teenage son was told his tires likely would not pass inspection - they offered him used tires at a great price knowing his budget was low. They told him the options and the tire life (miles) on both new and used tire options, very clearly. New tire price was as good as any chain tire place around. If you want your car fixed by top notch, well trained, car technicians - go to Coppins. You can trust the team there. read more

I went in to get my car inspected, they were nice and able to squeeze me in which was great. I got a call later that day saying my 2016 car failed the inspection due to 3 tires showing cord and I would have to buy 4 new tires. I picked up my car (the guy who checked me out was rude and not personable), took it home and had my husband double check before we agreed to have them install the new tires. Not 1 single tire showed cord, they actually all had pretty good tred left. My husband took the car back to the shop a couple days later (for my appointment to get the new tires installed), and demanded they show him why the tires failed before he blindly handed the car back over. The mechanic came out, showed him 1 tire that wasn't showing cord, but was decently worn down. Husband agreed to replace that one. Then he showed him the other 2, which were in PERFECTLY good condition. I hate that this small, family run business tried to scam me just because I was a woman and decided to trust them. I will never take a car back to them and don't suggest you do either unless you know for certain what the problem is when you bring it in. Finding a mechanic you trusted is so important, and I 100% do NOT trust them. read more
