We parked in the lot to visit Rogue Creamery and Coquette Bakery was right to the side. Why not try it out? We walked in and were originally set on getting the very puffy and flaky looking kouign amann, but after reading the label and seeing it was flavored with cardamom (not my favorite), we decided to go another direction. Pain Au Chocolate [sic] ($5.75) - Really dark brown baked cocoa-infused shell on this croissant, enough to give a deep color but not burnt. This creates an extremely flaky crisp right on the top, nicely contrasting against the chewy interior. The interior isn't dried out at all even with the somewhat harder bake. Inside they put a ton of mildly sweet dark chocolate. This isn't a traditional pain au chocolat, using batons, and instead there's basically a large log of chocolate rolled inside the center. Since there's so much chocolate, this one with a lower melting point than a typical baton, the additional moisture while baking compresses some of the honeycomb structure a bit. Based on my best guess from what I can see, the normal croissants baked at Coquette probably have excellent lamination and proofing. There's an additional chocolate drizzle on top that adds more sweetness, but the pastry never reaches the point that I would consider too sweet. (5/5) We only purchased a single pastry on this visit. I'll have to revisit in the future to try out their other specialties. read more

I came in one day, first time there and I didn't get a single hello or word out of the cashier or workers. I got the most odd stare. So cute!! This bakery is right near central CP and they have the best pastries! Really any of their baked goods are a knock out. They also have homemade bread for purchase and sometimes if you're lucky they also have organic flour from the mill!! It's awesome!! This is definitely more of a pastry shop than coffee shop as they don't have a wide array of beverages. Their pastries are so good it's really not a big deal. They have some indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely would recommend more for a grab and go then sit down spot. read more

I had forgotten about it until a week ago and I've been revising a couple times a week since, grabbing one to go with a house coffee. Everyone has been very friendly. What a finding! Fresh and tasty bread with a great service! Big variety too, we had a big group so we tried the ginger tile (unanimously the best!), cinnamon bun, ham and cheese croissant (had sooo much delicious cheese (my favorite!). I like this little spot next to the creamery. It's a old gas station with roll up garage doors. It's A + for Service and Friendliness. Baked goods also A+ Baked goods with a High Five for the coffee cake. Coffee, at this point, appears to be brewed only but no espresso. it was very good. Coquette is a different sort of place, baking delicious, hearty breads and baked goods the old fashioned way. Absolutely delicious croissants (yes, likely a whole stick of butter in each one), fancy sweet goodies like the Cocoa Puff pastry, fantastic loaves of various sourdough breads, and nice, balanced, yet hearty coffee. Located in the former Ledger David Cellars tasting room, this is a happening spot where folks bring their dogs, kids, and friends for a treat and some good conversation. A laid back vibe, super friendly owners and staff, and overall very welcoming. Breads, while seemingly on the higher-priced side, are actually a great value and will last you just as long as a loaf from a generic store-bought brand. The bread is very simple in ingredients, lasts whether refrigerated or not, toasts up like a dream, and is flavorful and old-world styled. YUM! These folks also donate their leftover goods to food banks and those in need, which is important and says a lot about their moral stance as a business. Hope you can check 'em out! I stopped here during my vacation, mostly because one of the reviewers said their morning buns are better than Tartine. That's a claim that MUST be investigated. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant, morning bun and berry pastry. (I did not eat them all at once in case you're wondering, but I wanted to!) The croissant was amazing, it had a gorgeous lacquered crispy shell with tender dough, and the ham and cheese were of excellent quality. After enjoying my breakfast I hit the road only to be stuck for 2 hours due to an overturned big rig blocking the lane. Lucky me! I had a box of pastry and tucked into the berry tart. I loved that it was not cloyingly sweet, the berries were fresh and most of all the pastry dough was fluffy and tender. I didn't get to the morning bun until the next day. And even day old, it was indeed better than Tartine. This is a bakery with passion, stop in! read more

I was really excited to try this little spot and while everything looked gorgeous, our experience fell flat. We arrived before 8AM and expected fresh out of the oven pastries but what we got seemed like day old and hardened. The almond croissant was burnt and hard on the ends and the kouign Ammann was super chewy with hardened top. Nothing about either of them was flaky. Im on vacation in Oregon, thought id peek in and look around the shop, it was cute, clean and very friendly service, Looked like standard pastries, like back home, I started with the carrot cake, HOLY MOLY the flavors so GOOD, loaded with nuts, carrots and goodness!!!! Yummy definitely taste more fresh and full of flavor, maybe because it was organic? But dam it was good! Few days later I kept thinking about that cake went back for another piece but it was sold out. So i tried a slice if a italian almond creme berry cake, and DAM, again this was so fresh and flavorful. Took home a loaf of sourdough and a seeded baguette. Im just sad, and not that i dont live close by, because id be there quite often. So many times i see stuff that looks so good and beautiful but flavors are ok. Divine baked goods.. I bought their almond cake today, and it's amazing warmed up for 20 seconds. Apparently the cakes freeze well but I doubt it will make tit that far. The almond croissant is one of the best I've ever had, flaky butter dough with almond paste filling spread on. Everything in their display case looks good but I've been a fan since their days at the Ashland Growers Market. So glad they have a storefront now. Both servers were kind and patient. Ok so my first time going was yesterday. Just moved to the area and decided to stop in for some fresh bread. Grabbed a baguette and a loaf of Rosemary. Holy cow! Delicious even my toddlers loved it. Pretty much finished both loaves last night. Went in this morning for a restock and a panini. I got the Brie and turkey panini. Absolutely delicious! Spoke with one of the employees who is the sweetest! Very outgoing and attentive. Asked about cooked Brie with being pregnant. We started talking and she suggested the almond cake as price for people to visit my baby as it's her favorite. So obviously I had to try it. Omg! I can never go back. (I'll be back in a day or two) that cake is so delicious. The thick dense sponge tastes like a vanilla almond with a hint of lemon. It is the perfect density to moisture ratio.
