The entrees themselves were not very filling. While there was very memorable flavor in the mussels, it was not enough to captivate me. I really appreciated the bread that came with it, however, it was not enough to soak up the sauce. There were some options to order different things on the side, but none of them seemed to complement the dish. Also, the dish was already $34 on its own. As for the chicken, it was mediocre. Let me start by saying that although I loved all the items I had a Coquette there was one thing in particular that was so delicious that I will come back again and again just to get it. What is this magical item you may ask? It is the Chevre Brulee! Absolutely amazing!! I could eat this alone or on top of almost anything. All the other items on the charcuterie board were wonderful as well. The duck fat chicken was a nice entree with a large portion size. Drinks and service also excellent and the decor cute and comfortable. Big shout out to Coquette on my new favorite item on a menu anywhere in town! Moules Marinières (mussels with white wine, shallots, garlic, butter cream, fennel & garlic streusel) - I enjoyed this a lot. I would recommend to get an order of bread to soak up the broth. Apple Tarte Tatin (caramelized apples, puff pastry, cinnamon & star anise ice cream , caramel) - I was surprised to see this on the menu in the middle of a hot summer. Spiced ice cream and apples are generally more autumn flavors. However, I am glad this was on the menu. The star anise and cinnamon really stand out and balanced the sweet caramel apples well. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here. However, the hors d'oeuvres were pricey for what we got, and table bread should never be an extra cost. Not in a French restaurant. Needed some salt and pepper and maybe a little extra seasoning from my liking but it wasn't the worst I had. Coquette in Uptown Charlotte delivered an enjoyable lunch experience today, with attentive and friendly service that made us feel warmly welcomed. Parking is validated if you use the correct garage, which is always a plus. We started with two stunning tarts: the Tarte Aux Champignons (Mushroom Tart), featuring Raclette Fondue, Coquette Vinaigrette, and Truffle Oil, and the Tarte à la Tomate et Oignons (Caramelized Tomato & Onion Tart) topped with Chevre Goat Cheese Ice Cream. Both were beautifully balanced, rich in flavor, and substantial enough to double as a light entrée. For my main course, I opted for the Duck Fat Fried Chicken Sandwich served on a Brioche Bun with Honey-Tarragon Aioli and spicy pickles. The tarragon aioli's aroma was divine, and the chicken was perfectly crispy and moist. Unfortunately, the bun became soggy, so I set it aside and enjoyed the chicken and pickles on their own. The accompanying fries were perfection--crispy, well-seasoned, and thoroughly satisfying. One of my dining companions chose the Filet Mignon Steak Frites, cooked medium. While the presentation was appealing, they found it under-seasoned and underwhelming. My other companion ordered the pan-seared mahi-mahi (the fish of the day), served atop mashed potatoes with a Balsamic & Red Wine Reduction, which they enjoyed. I was a bit disappointed not to see French Onion Soup on the menu, especially since Coquette's French-inspired setting seemed like the perfect place for it. However, our meal ended on a high note when the manager surprised us with desserts to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We savored the Crème Brûlée, Apple Tarte Tatin, and Chocolate Bouchon, all delightful treats. To top it off, I indulged in a French Hot Chocolate--thick, rich, creamy, and possibly the best in Charlotte. It was a luxurious finish to the meal. While the experience was predominantly positive, with a few hiccups in execution, I'm eager to return and explore their dinner menu. They're finally open! I've been awaiting this new spot for awhile. I love that it's a French cafe and they offer not only beverages but tasty pastries too. It's located across from Well Fargo in a space that was previously occupied by Bank of America. The decor is beautiful and tastefully done. Floral prints from the wallpaper to the chairs and lovely French music in the background. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside. And lots of bar seating too. Of course there were some opening day snags, there were issues with the cash register with just about every customer, adding to the wait. That's to be expected at a new place so no big deal. I will say I don't think the placement of the register is great - it's pretty close to the door and doesn't leave lots of space for customers to stand in line. I'll try the coffee another day. Today I only grabbed a pistachio rose eclair. I didn't appreciate feeling rushed at the register when the cashier happily took what felt like 10 minutes with the customers in front of me. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. We popped in for lunch mid-week and the place was packed. The ambiance was beautiful and the staff were delightful. We had the mushrooms with crusted French bread for a starter and it was one of the most flavorful dishes I've had in a long time. I had the mussels with a side of frites and my husband had the steak frites, both of which were delicious and very rich. I could've used another loaf of bread to soak up the sauces. The owner stopped by to see how our food was and was very friendly and engaging. He even topped off our wines because he found out we were celebrating a birthday. The bone marrow and chicken dishes were table favorites. The marrow tunnel wasn't as deep as I expected but great nonetheless. You will not be full alone off that dish. The Coq au Vin Blanc, amazing. The flavors were bursting in my mouth, very juicy. The French toast, I was very skeptical about pairing sweet potato with duck liver. It was surprisingly very good, I would get it again. The pomme frites were fried to perfection. The desserts: apple tarte tatin, chocolate bouchon, & cherry clafoutis. The apple dish ended up being the table favorite. I personally don't normally go for chocolate dishes but I will say the bouchon was pretty great. The Cherry dish was decent. I probably wouldn't get it again. The apple dish stole the show. Sidecar: Two people in my party heavily raved about the Chevalier Sunlight cocktail Overall, my group agrees the service was just alright, no major highlights. One of my favorite meals in Charlotte! The decor of the restaurant is super cute and trendy. It's bright and airy and the seats are very comfortable. I love the round tables and it's good for socializing. We started with the charcuterie board and Brussel salad. The Brussel salad was served warm and with a fried egg. Probably the best Brussel dish I've ever had. We all loved it and thought it was delicious and unique. I had an iced latte - also very good and the mussels. Dined at Coquette with my mother for a brunch on a Saturday morning. Coquette is located in a great area in uptown Charlotte, parking could be tricky, but we were able to walk from our hotel! Reservations for weekend brunch open at 11am, and they may not be necessary for small parties. The restaurant is very chic with tons of French flair. The interior is gorgeous and we really appreciated the details in the design between the decor, to the furniture, it was all very nice! The service was very friendly. Our server was attentive and accommodating. To start, we ordered the pate. The Mousse de Paté included Goose, Duck & Pork Liver, Sauternes Wine, Rock Salt Dijon Mustard, Cornichons & Baguette. We both agreed this was by far the best pate we've had. It was very rich, flavorful, and smooth. The pate went perfectly on the warm baguette served with it, and was flavorful enough without the enhancement of the Dijon mustard. For our entrees, I ordered the Oeufs Cocotte and my mother ordered the Saumon Fumé Benedict. The Oeufs Cocotte included Two Baked Eggs, Mornay, Piperade, Bayonne Ham, Espelette, and brioche croutons. This was a rich and very filling dish. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the mornay was extremely creamy, the prosciutto added a nice saltiness, and the fresh herbs were the perfect touch! The Saumon Fumé Benedict Poached Eggs, Haricots Verts, Hollandaise, Toasted Brioche Smoked Salmon Fresh Herbs, and Espelette. This was also a very creamy, rich dish, with lots of sauce. The eggs were soft, the salmon was plentiful, and the fresh herbs added extra flavor. We opted to split one of their daily pastries - a pistachio French sticky bun. We were slightly disappointed in this. The flavors were decent, but the bun itself was dry. We grabbed some pastries to go, including a chocolate biscuit, peanut butter cookie, and chocolate eclair. The eclair was amazing! Super creamy with a thick, chocolately ganache on top. The chocolate biscuit was extremely rich, with a very intense chocolate flavor, only amplified by the sea salt on top. The peanut cookie was very good, moist, and soft. Overall, we enjoyed a very nice meal here. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It is truly beautiful and very pleasing to the eye. The service was good. The only complaint we had was the food was very rich and slightly heavy. That being said, we still really enjoyed everything we ordered and were impressed! I cannot wait to go back to Coquette! Had the best time at Sunday brunch.....amazing service, food and bubbly. All set with lovely French music, accents, and all the feels of all things French from decor to table settings and of course the food. I love how quaint it is and how much thought had gone into making it not your average brunch spot. The menu is obviously very French, and the drinks menu had some nice wines and cocktails. The bar area is really nice and classy with bar seating as well. We had in my opinion the prime table by the bar which was for 10 but we were just 6. Great spot to see the restaurant and all its goings on. They also have a great patio for warmer days which will make for more people watching! They are closed on mondays! During the week and Saturday they are open in the morning as a bakery/coffee shop then for lunch and dinner. Sundays is brunch only. The glasses on the table and dinner ware were so different and tres chic! We had a couple bottles of bubbly for our table which was really good and our server kept us topped up in those lovely coupe glasses. We ordered a bunch of different plates and shared. The truffle fries, perfectly crunchy with great truffle flavor. The quiche was nice and fluffy, with a thin crust, light and came with a nice greens salad. The mussels were my favorite. Amazing curry like sauce with big meaty mussels and served with some nice thick sliced bread. The mushroom tart was also so good, also with a truffle vinaigrette, nice and buttery crust , and a raclette fondue, The house cured salmon comes with whipped fromage, on a thick toast, with capers and dressed with dill and red peppers. This was nice and fresh, and another winning plate. Everything we ate was so good and full of flavor. So glad we ordered multiple things. Then as we were for a birthday, we got a free dessert! The birthday girl loves creme brûlée! Which was super rich and creamy and beautifully presented with fresh berries. Perfect tap for that brulee crunch! We also loved the sound of the apple tartin with ice cream and the flourless chocolate cake . Wow these are sone delicious desserts. Very rich and with great textures and smoothness . This is not a review of the actual restaurant but the wine class that they hosted awhile back.. This is on Wednesday or Thursday at 6:30pm for a champagne wine tasting class. In order to make reservations, you have to buy tickets in advance which is $55. So with that in mind. I'm assuming they have a clear numbers of people attending. Because it was sold out that morning, when I look at the post again. We arrived at 6:20pm. It was packed in a rotunda next to the restaurant. They have poured the 1st round of champagne but have not started the class yet. However. 2 ladies came in right at 6:30pm. And there's only on chair available to sit. Leaving one lady not having a seat. She asked the host and two teachers on site to see if they can accommodate them. Put two chairs somewhere so they can sit together. Now I even asked a couple of ladies at my table to move a little over to make room for the two ladies. However, what bothers me is how the host and the instructors did not try to accommodate them.. The ladies told them they will be seeking a refund at one point. rightfully soo, but the host nor any other staffs seem to care. Now I can understand if these ladies came in on the 3rd round of tasting. But it's still haven't started. This really make me unhappy about the customer services because at the end of the day. These ladies brought these tics in advance. Staffs should've known the amount of guests attending. And they didn't try very hard to put two chairs together so the ladies can enjoy this evening with the rest of us. I later saw the ladies sitting at the bar for dinner. They may not have a problem. I liked the potato one and the mini croissant. 3) the clams were 'chef kiss' delicious! Could have been a 5 rating but I felt the Caesar salad was below par- presentation on plate included small heads/portions of Romaine lettuce, including the tough bottom (and- shocking for a fine dining place- some parts of the outer leaves were brown). I've been here twice so far, once during lunch when you could only get stuff from the bakery, raw bar or charcuterie and once for dinner. During lunch we had the charcuterie and pastries and it was wonderful. I can't remember the exact name of our two meat and cheese selections but they were great. Good price and top quality. Now's let's talk dinner. First off, the ambiance and decor is top notch. I'm thinking of redesigning my bedroom and asking for a Coquette inspired theme. The service overall was great with a few minor hiccups but with it still being fairly new, they did quite well. For appetizers we had the escargot and steak tartare that was good we could have licked the plate! Main course we had the Cote de Boeuf; basically steak and fries with bernaise sauce for an extra charge, asparagus and the tastiest fries ever and this is large enough to share. The steak quality was outstanding, perfectly cooked, and seasoned so well. Let me just say ahead of time that everything was seasoned well. Everything! Our other main meal we created by ordering the bone marrow and sides of haricot vert and some of the best mushrooms I've ever had. The portions for a fine dining place were great. You don't leave here and then end up in the drive through an hour later because you are still hungry. We had plenty leftover and enjoyed them the next day and the steak, fries and veggies were still scrumptious. Our server was Elias and he was very personable and fun. Patrick was front of house and worked the room making sure he stepped in to make the experience a great one. Where minor things could have been missed he had a keen eye and made sure we were taken care of. We even got a complimentary dessert because they were out of the creme brûlée and tarte tartine and though not expected it was a nice touch. I dream about my meal here and can't wait to go back for lunch since now that's an option. I will literally cry if this place ever starts cutting corners and operates at anything less than top notch.
