Calabash style restaurant serving fried seafood from the coast. Large portions with a reasonable price. Very nice staff with laid back atmosphere. Food was lightly breaded and fried to perfection. A must go to when visiting Wilmington.

We called in an order, then added to it after we got there. It was late, around 8:30 PM and the restaurant closed at 9 PM. The staff is nice. Service was surprisingly fast. Food was good. Bathroom was clean. We ordered a seafood sampler and mahi mahi. Mahi mahi was excellent. I'd definitely go back for more of it. Grilled and seasoned with lemon pepper and old bay seasoning. Overall good experience.

Gluten free fried seafood! With a huge variety of options! Loved being able to order multiple kinds of fried fish, as that's hard to come by, and pricing is super affordable. You can ask for a gluten free menu and I also asked for ranch (not a fan of other seafood sauces). There aren't a lot of veggies available so your plate will end up being pretty brown & fried, but it's delicious so worth it! Service was friendly and helpful, no frills inside but it was clean.

What a great spot! The place was filled with locals so we knew we found a good one! The service staff were friendly and helpful and the food....oh the food! It was so good! We loved the casual atmosphere!!!

I returned to this establishment because of the excellent cuisine. It was a primary destination for my trip to Wilmington. Our server was very pleasant. However, I did notice something peculiar; most of the staff seemed to have an aversion to seafood. This, of course, is not entirely surprising considering their daily exposure to it. Nevertheless, the food was delightful, and the service was impeccable. I would be delighted to return again.

No through traffic of wait staff or customers. We ordered drinks and started off with small house salads. Salads are a good portion for smalls. However, we were just barely finishing salads, bread had just come out, then entrees. I guess we thought putting in orders together, food wouldn't come out so fast. Server took our salad plates and handed us our entrees. We both ordered shrimp scampi. So delicious but I took half to go. When food comes out too fast, I just can't finish. I will think to wait on ordering entrees. I really don't like food coming out one after the other. I understand the kitchen makes the food as it comes in, but the timing could have been better. Food and service is always good here. Wouldn't mind waiting a few extra minutes for meals so we don't feel rushed out.

Wish we were in the main room. Anyway, good size menu. Everything you need from chowder, fried platters, broiled dishes and non dish items too. We went with the basic fried platters. The flounder was good, hot and crispy. The fries basic. Cole slaw tasty. The hushpuppies were not good. Small, over cooked and dry. The food came out fast. The service was great. They had good dinner specials and bar specials too. I will be back. It's a good neighborhood restaurant. 3.5 stars. But sure it will be a four next visit.

You walk into Fish Bites hoping it's still the same place you've trusted over the years--and I'll…read moresay it right up front: it is. Maybe even a touch better. The Food We went straight for what matters. * Chilean Sea Bass -- cooked right, flaky, moist, and seasoned without trying to show off. That's how it's supposed to be done. No nonsense, just good fish handled properly. * Fish Bites (house specialty) -- lightly battered, crispy without being greasy, and paired with both Thai chili and tartar sauces. That combo works. You don't fix what isn't broken, and thankfully they didn't. * Ponzu Tuna Tacos -- these were the standout. Fresh, flavorful, balanced. The ponzu brings just enough bite without overpowering the tuna. If you're going there and skip these, that's on you. Sides held their own--fresh vegetables with a good sauté, and coleslaw that didn't taste like it came out of a tub somewhere in the back. Service Our server, Kali (K-A-L-I), did things the old-school way--attentive without hovering, friendly without being fake. That's getting rare these days, and it's worth mentioning. Value Two people, solid seafood, no corners cut: $67.15 total. In today's world? That's not just fair--that's impressive. Final Take New ownership can sometimes mean a place loses its identity. That didn't happen here. Fish Bites still delivers what made it a favorite--fresh seafood, straightforward preparation, and consistency. If anything, they've tightened things up just enough to notice

But not the best view with the gas station. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We started with the Oyster Bombs, which were cheesy and delicious. I picked the mixed veggies and garlic mashed potatoes as my sides. I ended up taking half home because I was so full! Plus, we got a few slices of cake to share at the office in the afternoon. Everyone enjoyed our meal. I'll definitely be back.

Finding a spot to sit, was kind of a challenge and ended up being a little chaotic. We started inside, then went to the back where there was no seating, and then ended up in the front porch, where we did find that the two booths were able to accommodate our group. Service was friendly and attentive. Also, ordering was pretty simple in state forward, even though our group had eight people in it spoke between two booths. I chose the chips and salsa with the goat cheese queso as an appetizer, and then also got the fried tofu sandwich for the main meal. They also allowed a couple of my adult friends to order off the kids menu, which was very much appreciated. The salsa was very heavily dominated with tomato flavor and had some spice to it. I think I would describe it more as a chutney than a salsa. The goat cheese queso was pretty light on the goat cheese, and was a lot closer to just regular queso. The fries with my meal were okay and the fried tofu sandwich was okay too. Not a ton of standout flavors. I also got the seafoam cocktail. The presentation was cute and it was definitely a pretty drink. I would've expected it to be just a little stronger given the price. But, I was delighted by how it actually did look like seafoam on top. So that was a win. I'd say jury is out on this one. One of my friends got the halibut and really loved it. Another friend got the kids meal quesadillas and the cheese had already gone pretty cold by the time she got it. So, mixed bag!
