The portions are big, and the food tastes good. My feedback would be for the kitchen to watch put for fruit that is past its prime. The coffee tastes rather horrible and old, and the service is slow. Overall, it's expensive but you do leave full. Friendly service, but slow. read more

The food is excellent and the service is nice. Few recommendations to improve: cup sizes should be larger. Even if the water is free, it would make it easier on staff for water refills. Either that or incorporate a jug at the tables for water refills. Price is a bit higher than I would like it to be, being an avid bruncher I wouldn't mind paying higher prices as long as the portion is worth the amount. My spouse saw this chain restaurant's ad in Wh3re magazine and said we should give it a try. Since the nearest location is close to our hotel on 24 Ave NW and Calgary Trail it was a short walk. The entryway in the stripmall is somewhat confusing and there was a lineup but it only took about 15 minutes to be seated in a half-booth. The noise reminded us of a play school and so did the decor (think old Ronald McDonald's on an acid trip) Orders were taken quickly however we then had to wait...15 minutes for a glass of tap water without ice(is there a shortage?) Another 10 minutes for the overpriced and sour fruit cocktails, and finally the breakfast arrived 45 minutes after ordering. The fruit was probably fresh five days ago, grapes shriveled to half-raisins, and nothing else was appetizing either; unless you like low-grade shredded white cheese in copious amounts, which was melted over everything; and not in a good way like under a salamander but from sitting under a heat lamp that also dried out the fruit. 20 minutes after finishing dining, the bill never came (maybe they're too embarrassed to present one) so I stood at the cashier and waited an additional 10 minutes to pay over $50 and never return. read more

This was my second trip to Cora's, but my first time at this location. Cora's is a colourful place, that's true. But it feels like you're eating in a grade one classroom. The art looks like children have done it, and the menu design is overwhelming. I've always had to wait to get into Cora's, and from what I've heard, that's par for the course. The best part about Cora's is that you come here to eat a lot of fruit. So, you shouldn't leave without having at least a portion of your daily dose. The worst part is that the food is adequate. It's not overly impressive, and it's nothing you can't do at home. What saves Cora's is the service. At this location we had Tara as our server and she was absolutely amazing! She was friendly, welcoming, and willing to make substitutions where needed. If you don't mind eating in a restaurant that reminds you of a classroom, and you don't mind paying for what you can just as easily make at home, I would recommend Cora's. As for me, it's not going to be a regular stop. read more

So excited that the new location is up and running after it burned down over a year ago. The restaurant is wider then the previous location and now includes a patio! We were sitted outside and I highly recommend you bring a hat - cause they dont have any shade or shelter from the blaring sun. Cora is definitely not my favourite place to go for breakfast, but I have a family member who loves it, so that's where we go. We got there around 2 pm on a Saturday. They close at 3, but there were still quite a few people in there. Our server told us she was new, but then said that she was only new to that location (had previously worked at the south side location). So there's really no excuse for her to not know the menu, since it's the same at all locations. Anyway... my cousin and I both have allergies to specific raw fruit (aren't we lucky? This is why Cora is not my favourite place.) The south side location was always very accommodating and would just let us choose what fruit went on our plates (with an up charge, of course). But she told us we couldn't do that, because the fruit was all pre-mixed. Not true, and we knew that, so we asked her to look into it. She never came back to let us know, just eventually brought the food out. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. Although the automatic paper towel dispenser was not working well and you had to do an interpretive dance in front of it to get anything out. The service was dreadfully slow though, and the lack of follow up was irritating. The food was nothing great, unfortunately. read more

Cora is one of my favourite resteraunts to go on the weekend. 99% of the time, they give me amazing, quality food that fills me to the brim of my stomach. There is so much variety that it's so hard to choose. One time they took a very long time for my order and my sandwich had a couple hairs. The manager dealt with the chef, let me get a free meal for my next time, and gave me another copy of the same sandwich that I had for me to eat at home. If something goes wrong, the manager will deal with it. Great experience every time! read more

Can say wonderful things about the North & Sherwood park locations service & food, however I have been to others and only went once due to I would say "average" service based off the excellence I received going to the other 2 locations. Our food came out way too fast which indicates it was definitely not made fresh. The potatoes/hash browns were over cooked and burnt. Ok I met 2 girlfriends for breakfast. The coffee at this location is great with real cream. I ordered the peggy poached. My favorite. So delish and fresh with in season fruit . our server was friendly and efficient. She continually topped up our coffee. Such generous portions. The server brought os a take out container. I think all the hype about this restaurant is misplaced. I've eaten at Cora's about four times and each time was excited to go, but then found myself disappointed with the menu. I think it's because there's a misconception that they have healthy dishes. For the most part, the breakfasts are sugary desserts, or entrees with fatty sauces, whole eggs, sausages, bacon, and lots of cheese. Just because a meal comes with a mountain of fruit, doesn't make it a healthy one. Sandwiches are all (but one) the "salad" variety, full of mayonnaise. Many items also contain onions which cannot be omitted because "they are part of a blend". So if they make it without, you don't get the red or green peppers, either. The lettuce in the salad I had was all brown around the edges. Each time, the food took too long to arrive, which may be the reason all the kids are so noisy! read more

We decided to try this Cora's location as it was close to home. When we arrived, there was no line up and we were seated immediately. The waitress took our drink and food orders as we knew what we wanted. She was friendly and helpful The food was exactly as pictured and prepared to our specifications. The decor is much the same as every other Cora's. Because there is construction going on around the restaurant, it is hard to notice it, but I highly recommend you go to this Cora's. read more

We've gone to the 106 St location just off of Jasper Ave twice now. The first time was a good experience, but this morning's experience was not. It was Saturday morning with restaurant about half full. We sat and waited 5-10 minutes for a server to approach us, then waited a long time for our food, then waited for our bill (which we did not receive), then waited at the till for another 5 minutes before someone came over, then waited again because we were paying cash and they didn't have change at the till (??). The food was good -- light and fresh -- but the service was poor and the food is overpriced. The management really needs to work on staffing and service. read more

This is our go-to place for brekky, because we know we can always get what we want here (see my review for Urban Diner to know why this is important to me). I can get a Peggy's Poached here, which is a poached egg, a piece of toast, and lots of fruit. This is a virtually perfect breakfast for someone on Weight Watchers, like I am. If I like, I can add a little side of cheese. And they don't pre-butter my toast, which I REALLY like. If I want butter on (and I don't), I can do my own. Thanks, Cora! My only complaint is that their house blend coffee is a little on the oogy side. Not sure if they're filtering it through sweaty gym socks or what, but it could be much better. My husband, the coffee snob, usually orders the mochaccino so the taste is better hidden. I also wish there were fewer kids, but nothing Cora's can do about that. It does often seem like a daycare in here. But for being able to order a couple of eggs and fruit and still eat out, it's priceless. PS- Go early to avoid the lines. We pre-plan that if we're going to Cora's on the weekend, we get up a little earlier than we normally would. We've never had a wait. read more

Solid breakfasts are to be found at every Cora's location I have been to. Went out for brunch with three friends, and we were quickly seated at a booth, even though it was a Saturday morning (usually a busy time of day for them). This location was far less busy than most, which was a nice change. Our server was fairly efficient, although she did not check up on our food (one of us ordered waffles but we had no syrup)... Other than that blip, we had a pretty good meal. Cora's is nothing spectacular, but this location seems to do what they do well! read more

A nice change from all the egg-focussed breakfast places which as a non-egg lover is a good thing. The menu is varied and does include eggs, but so much more than the usual breakfast standards. I had the 1990's Harvest which was a massive serving of cinnamon bread French toast, fruit salad and bacon. It does come with a fried egg too, which I opted to have deleted. It was very good. My son had the crepes which he gobbled down quickly even though the portion was big. The staff are great and filled my coffee cup about 10 times. Would certainly go back as it is much better than Humpty's or Albert's. read more

Horrible service from the host staff. We came here for my mum's birthday, a group of 7 people including 2 children with special needs. When we arrived we were told we would have a 15 minute wait for a table. We waited an hour without any results, watching group after group get seated before us. Talked to several staff members with only attitude and "Sorry there is nothing we can do" thrown at us time and time again. When we finally got a table we had already been given several conflicting statements about wait times and table settings. The only redeeming quality was that the owner talked to us after and tried to rectify the situation. Our waiter was great after talking to the owner. read more

Wow. Worst breakfast ever. They were 15 minutes late with our reservation (which makes me wonder... isn't the table supposed to be waiting for us?) and offended my wife by thinking she was not with our group, possibly because we're a mixed race couple, but also making sure to talk to me first even through she was in line ahead of me. Then came the hour and fifteen minute wait for food, often with no coffee refills. We were a table of seven, but tables of five came and went, getting full meals, eating them, and leaving before we even got our food. My eggs were cold and inedible, my wife's food was frozen in the middle, and others at our table were eating the food even though it tasted bad simply because they were starving. All of this with bad service, and we left hungry. Oh yeah, it was the brunch before my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, so it was supposed to be a special family gathering before the whole party with guests in the evening. Thanks a lot, Cora. A beautiful brunch planned all shot to hell my incompetence, terrible food, and pretty much an attitude of uncaring. After complaining we got a $5 gift certificate, which we will never use. Maybe we'll regift it to someone we don't like much. Seriously, avoid this place. It was awful. read more

Not the best experience. It took quite a while to order the food. I ordered water and coffee to go with my meal, and the coffee was topped up about every 10 min or so. The water on the other hand was about every 30 min. They were also quick to refill hot water for the tea. But they either need bigger glasses, or more attention to the water levels. Food arrived a Long time after order. It took another long time to get a take out container for my leftovers. Then another long wait to get the bill, another long wait to pay it, and then we realized that they had given us the wrong bill. More waiting to get this error fixed. It was about 2 hours from the time we arrived,to the time we left. While the food was definitely decent, the service was horrid. read more

I had the three egg ham Benedict and it was the perfect amount for a big guy with an empty stomach. My experience was bad service, small portions, and the place was desolate. NOT!! I want to write a bad review on this place so I can get in next time and people stop coming to my neighborhood and taking up my chair. My friend experienced this chain in Ontario and was adamnant about coming here with me. It was 1030 in the am on a Friday and every seat was taken. You would think they were the old people of Kensington but they were working class and professional looking. Finally a menu with photos and they were delivering plates that matched the photos! I have never seen a place with so much fruit on a plate. Usually they garnish with 2 grapes and a slice of orange at other places. My server was equally as great and was always willing to fill my coffee which was dark roast and could knock the balls off a bull, if they were placed on his back in a golf game. I would recommend not coming in peak times or there is only a small waiting room. I have been recommending this place to anyone with a heartbeat. I used to love cora's. The honeymoon is officially over though. Every time I go here I wait at least 45 minutes for food. I usuallly only go with my husband and 2 babies too, so the large group waits forever clause doesn't apply here. The eggs are never cooked properly, and the last few times they came to the table cold. I have a balloon phobia and every time we visit with the kids the manager insists on giving them balloons even after I say no. It drives me insane. There are about two people that work there who know how to do their job. Usually when you walk in you tell 5 different people how many are with you, they go off to find you a table, and then they don't come back. The food is cheap, that's about all they have going for them. We tried one in calgary just to see if this one was just poorly staffed but we had the same problem there too.
