On Cinco de Mayo, I visited Corazon Comedor, located at 29 E Victoria St, to celebrate a birthday. I have visited this establishment on numerous occasions and have consistently had exceptional experiences with its culinary offerings. The large chips and guacamole are a must-order item. The service provided at Corazon Comedor is consistently impeccable. The ambiance is inviting and they have amazing food options.

Amazing food! We had a great experience at Corazon Cocina earlier and we heard this place had the same chef so we decided to stop in for dinner. We were greeted by Janet right away. She was very welcoming and made sure we had what we needed throughout our visit. I had the Rajas con Crema, a taco with poblano, corn, crema, and queso fresco on a blue corn tortilla. I didn't know exactly what to expect but it was EPIC! Maybe the best thing I've tasted so far this year, so much flavor, such fresh ingredients! My husband ordered the Birria Plate, which he loved. We shared a side of black beans and plaintains, but we really should have gotten two orders because those were out of this world too. The ambiance is casual. It almost felt like we were visiting friends for dinner. We will absolutely return on our next visit to Santa Barbara.

We finally got around to trying this spot, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I ordered the chicken mole enchiladas along with a passion fruit margarita. I expected more of a sweet, but it had a nice, subtle kick of spice which was great. The margarita was strong in the best way and they were very generous with the pour (no complaints here!). My partner ordered the shrimp enchiladas and had zero complaints, which says a lot. The whole vibe and decor around the restaurant was great. I'd definitely come back again, 10/10 would recommend. Amazing food in a fresh and spacious space, my wife and I came here before a show. Ordering is at the counter, take a number, they bring it to you. Space is large, industrial concrete and steel with high ceilings, but somehow warm and cozy at the same time. They have a many creative tacos, flautas, enchiladas and mole dishes that appear more "authentic" and not your everyday Mexican, as well as beer and cocktails. We ordered a bowl of guacamole, chicken mole enchiladas, enchiladas rancheras, sparkling water and a margarita, then sat down with our number. The guacamole and particularly the chips were incredible, tasting hot and freshly made, but in a smallish bowl. Margarita was very good too. Both our main dishes presented well, were loaded with flavor and top notch, with the mole being spot-on sweet and spicy with very nicely prepared beans and rice sides. To finish the guacamole, additional chips at $4 were needed. Counter service and food delivery times was good. This is probably the best Mexican food I've had in Santa Barbara, a big statement! My only (1/2 star) nit is for the price and quality of food and cocktail offerings, I feel the restaurant (and me) deserve more a finer dining, full table service experience.

I went for dinner, but I think this place is more popular during breakfast and lunch hours. You order at the counter then take a seat. Salsa bar located on the side. The burrito had a lot of flavor but the tortilla was kinda hard and made it difficult to cut with the knife. Overall the staff is friendly and it's not a bad spot to sit down and grab a quick bite to eat.

Came here for breakfast and I the food was amazing! I cannot get over how good everything was and their salsas were even better. I ordered some iced coffee as well and that too was good. The space is not too crowded but not too open. When you walk in you can either seat yourself or depending on how busy they are they will seat you. We sat ourselves but we did see some people being seated. When you are ready to order you walk up to the front and order/pay there. Then walk back to your seats and they bring the food out. The employees were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely need to come back to check out the dinner items!

Since moving to SB and moving away from home I have been craving some homemade chilaquiles and this was incredibly close. I wish they were a little bit more crunchy but other than that it tasted so good. I love the decor and the wall of saints it had. There's a salsa bar. One thing is I didn't know I was supposed to order at the front and waited around for a solid 20 minutes (completely my fault). Service was friendly. Can't wait to come back with my husband

Loved the ambience and the food. We got the: Vegetarian enchilada with mole - 4/5 - I really liked the stuffing (spinach and mushroom). The mole was a little bitter but the flavor grew on me. Rajas Tacos - 5/5 - absolutely loved the flavors and the cheese. Chips with beans and mole - complimentary, served with 4 salsas of different spice levels. Great spot up in Santa Barbara, I have been numerous times and I often recommend it to friends and family. My number one order is always the Flautas Sautarios (short rib flautas) and I'll usually get some guacamole and rice or beans to go with them. They are so flavorful and tender on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside, you really can't go wrong! If you have a sweet tooth I would also recommend finishing your meal with the Strawberry Tres Leches or the Dulce de Leche Flan, which I took with me to-go on this occasion. The staff is always friendly and the food comes out of the kitchen at a great pace whether you're dining in or placing an order to go. The interior is airy with high ceilings and well lit, with nice big windows. There is plenty of seating inside with two different rooms to accommodate plenty of diners, and a small bar as well. There aren't currently any outdoor seating options, and parking options can be tricky, but I wouldn't let that deter you from giving this restaurant a try!

Dropped in for breakfast. Street parking was available because I came early. This is a beautiful, restaurant with nice service. Although the champurrado was good, the Cafe de Olla was a bit on the sweet side. The food, salsas and chips were all good. I enjoyed it so much I know I will be coming back again.

This place was great, it would've received a 5 start rating but the wait was very long to get a table. Overall I would give this place a 4.5 the food was very delicious. Especially the chilaquiles with carne asada. The meat wasn't chewy and it was seasoned so good! Probably the best chilaquiles I've had. Definitely will come back when I go to Santa Bárbara again. The horchata was also good, definitely recommend. Very nice and clean restaurant.

Rey took such good care of us and our guests from Argentina. We were surrounded by beautiful colonial art in the back room...the appetizers...the foid...the prize...the service...all 5 stars... If I would change anything it would be the name...so close to the original that every time I meet somebody, they go to the public market location first... read more

This is the best Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico. Brandon and Ramón treated us better than friends and family. Truly outstanding food, service, and ambiance. It was an experience I'll always remember. I'm giving only 5 stars because 10 aren't available. I live in Los Angeles and I've been recommending Corazón Comedor to everyone I know. When in Santa Barbara, this is the place to be. I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

I've been here a few times. Everyone that works there is very nice and attentive. The food was amazing and the agua frescas are very well made. It does get busy and sometimes it takes a bit longer to get your order but it is worth the wait. read more

The food was a bit below average, is it nothing special, the service less than average, the noise level way above average (really loud tables and screaming kids). A mandatory 22% service charge of which you are never informed. This is crazy. You do not see the bill, you don't see the iPad with the bill, but mandatory fees are added. read more

Extremely disappointed. If you have a disability, please be cautious about coming here. This was one of my family and friends' favorite places to come. A few days ago, I showed up with some friends, one of which required a service animal. When my friend entered, they were asked to provide papers for the animal. According to the ADA guideline, this is an illegal request. The restaurant may ask if the animal is a service animal and what services the animal provides. It verged on discrimination. This was followed by poor service. Among various issues, we were told we would have to give up our table at a specific time, and then had a long wait time before someone came to take our order. Once we ordered, about 10 min later, they came back and said they did not have the requested entrees available, despite confirming they had them when they took our order. Very sad this happened. read more

Absolutely amazing. Found this place on yelp while on vacation. Interior is cozy and well decorated. Staff was excellent and welcoming. When the food came I did not expect such care into both flavor and presentation. All expectations were far exceeded. I will be coming here every time I'm on vacation. read more

We waited to be seated despite having a reservation which is normally no issue; except we weren't checked on, given waters, acknowledged etc. for 25 minutes as our server, the manager, and others catered to other guests without hesitation. The food is authentic, fresh and delicious. The dishes are prepared with the freshest ingredients, from the homemade tortillas to the delicious cochinita pibil. The shrimp tacos are amazing. The owners and super nice attentive to every detail. The Oaxacan chocolate is the best we've had since Oaxaca. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Very interesting interpretive Mexican cuisine. The flavors were amazing. It was crowded and seemed to be short-staffed so service was really off - asked a couple of times for water and extra salsa. Neither ever arrived. For food alone, it is a 4 star place, but service and disorganized wait staff dropped it to a 3. Would probably go back for the food. read more

ate dinner there last Saturday night for the first time with another couple food is really good . Love the treat of the chips with the Mole and refried beans on top. The refried beans are superb . Hope there's no lard in the recipe. waiter didn't know . they should. The wind is very expensive. Enjoyed the Chardonnay from Guadalupe valley, but the pours are quite small. You should definitely do a happy hour wine and nibbles menu from 4-6 for six dollar wine and and you will be very busy. but the noise level inside is so loud can't even hear the person you're talking to across the small four top table. The owners really need to do something about the acoustics in there should've put some kind of sound absorbing ceiling! We could tell that the waiters were new and weren't sure about what they were doing and couldn't answer all the questions about the food. I would recommend this place, but I won't go back until they iron out the kinks and I definitely wont recommend to go on a busy night unless they fix the noise absorption! Service and food was wonderful. Different style entrees and flavors that you do not get at a lot of Mexican restaurants. I think it might have the best Mexican food in SB. The only thing that held it back was their Mijitos were not very good. read more

The slowness wasn't just my experience -- it was the room. Los Agaves appears to be a popular place, and maybe on another night with another bartender it earns that reputation. But entitlement has a way of spreading when nobody checks it. I hope management is paying attention -- because a beautiful restaurant dies one invisible guest at a time.

I tried my tablemate's tacos, all three varieties were very very good. I've had takeout from here, but it's really worth going in person because the food is nuanced and best when piping hot as it's made.

Last night, my wife and I impulsively decided to change our dining plans, craving Mexican cuisine instead. Fortunately, we found this restaurant, which boasted stellar reviews and an enticing menu. Upon arrival for our 7:15pm reservation, we were seated slightly later, around 7:30-7:40pm, which we didn't mind. Shortly after sitting, a waiter promptly greeted us, expertly walked us through the menu, and highlighted the specials. We opted for a special appetizer and requested still water when offered a choice between "sparkling and still tap water". We also asked for chips and salsa to start. The culinary experience was outstanding, to say the least. However, we were left somewhat disheartened as our request for chips was overlooked not once but twice--a surprise omission for a Mexican dining spot. Moreover, we were mistakenly served a pricey special "spring" water we didn't request, billed at $10 per bottle, despite asking for standard "still water". Observing other tables, we noted they were served a different type of water, underscoring the mix-up. After discussing this with our waiter, he reluctantly removed one water charge from our bill, though his demeanor turned noticeably colder as we concluded our payment and left a 20% tip. Despite this hiccup, I must emphasize that the restaurant is definitely worth a visit for the quality of the food alone. It's regrettable that our experience was marred by these service issues. I believe I may have been subject to racial profiling at this establishment. My family and I, who are Mexican American, entered the establishment and found no one else waiting. Despite this, we were not greeted with a simple hello. Instead, the young lady paused for 5 seconds with a stare, before asking if we had a reservation. She then informed us of an hour and a half wait, even though there was no one else in line. We provided our information for a text when our table was ready, but unfortunately, we did not receive any notification. Thankfully, we were able to find Carlitos Café Cantina, a fantastic Mexican restaurant nearby that provided excellent customer service and fresh organic food. I understand that the majority of the area may be Caucasian, but it is important to recognize and embrace our diverse American society. The treatment we received speaks volumes about the establishment and the owner. Let us strive to do better and create a more inclusive environment for all individuals. Thank you. read more
