This Bashas' store at 67th Ave & 101 has great potential. But, really, it is like walking into one…read moreof those old Five & Dime Stores. You know the old-fashioned stores where you could get a jelly fish candy for a penny. Admit it, you remember them too. Well, that is what this is like. They are very friendly and concerned with customer satisfaction like the old 5 & Dime stores also. The Deli dept was great. The girl was very helpful and sliced my lunch meat exactly the way I asked without any attitude. This does not happen very ofter anywhere else, so I was very please and will return for that alone. They have Boars Head and a more economical brand that is very good. The woman in the bread dept even sliced me up a fresh loaf of crusty bread, and told me that they make fresh rolls every day 2X a day in the morning and again at 4pm. Good to know - thanks bread lady. I will be back for them. I headed over to check out their Organic Veggies - not much at all: romaine lettuce, plumb tomatoes, celery, carrots. It had its very own tiny section. I was disappointed. The Meat dept was not all that bad. I had called earlier (in my search for marrow bones for Spencer) and talked to Matt. He said he had one and would slice it up (I requested 2-3 inch thickness). He said no problem and would put it on hold for me. I got there late and Matt was there (in the back cleaning). They had a bell for me to ring!!! Whoo hoo. You mean I can ask for assistance without being ignored. Awesome. Well, I rang and rang but he never answered - ignored again! Finally, he came out. I asked for the bones and I got them - sliced too thick. He was pleasant and said he could re-do them - tomorrow - what, darn! - okay. Getting these bones is turning out to be more trouble than they are worth. My trip over there was a tough one. All I wanted were these damn bones for the dog. I even ran out of gas on the way over to get them (btw the gas station at 67th Ave and the 101 is closed!) So, I left the meat dept. with a forced smile on my face and said I will be back tomorrow (sorry Spencer this one could not follow directions). I passed the fillet Mignon section: wow !!! on sale for $5. something a pound - wish I had the money right now! That is the best price I have seen yet - even cheaper than Sam's. I wonder how the quality is? I made my way to the check-out and they only had one register open. There was a line with 5 of us in it an another one who decided to go back and to continue shopping. But where was the cashier? - not at the register. So we waited and waited and waited and.... Finally he came over from the isle - doing his own price check?! like he was the only employee in the store (okay weird). Well, he got the price but the finicky woman could not decide if she wanted the item - so we waited and waited and waited... again. Come on lady be a big spender and just get the item all ready. Finally, they opened a second check out and took me straight over. I don't have a bashes price card, but the girl was cool enough to scan hers for me and quickly got me out of there as fast as she could. She was nice. The store definitely has potential - and would be great if they fixed it up. They don't even have the wine chiller anymore (not that I could find). I will go back for lunch meat. I was going to Fry's for it but that was a nightmare dealing with the incompetence there. But that is another review. This one is long enough. Check them out for lunch meat and fresh rolls and if you have the cash on you now, run over and get the fillet Mignon! It is on sale in the whole tenderloin style! Bashas' prices are very competitive now too!
