Hungry Hawk's beautiful patio offers a serene environment to enjoy nice wines and beautiful views.

Tasting Flights (Four 2 oz. pours): Sparkling $25, Mixed $22, Red $25, Reserve $29, Dessert $24 (3 pours) We used to be members of Hungry Hawk several years ago but hadn't stopped in for some time. We had specifically joined the wine club because we really enjoyed their white wines, which is unusual for us as we're more "big red" drinkers. However, on this visit the tastings were primarily reds. We were told that they will be releasing a few more whites as we get closer to summer. Their large patio, with umbrella/roof-covered tables, offers beautiful vineyard and surrounding mountain views. They also have live music, but it's best to check their website calendar as to who/when. WINES: We shared a Red and Reserve flight, but we did ask to try the new 2024 Estate Mélange Blanc (58% Pinot Gris, 42% Viognier) which was one of our favorites. The wines are well-made, and they offer a nice selection of varietals, so you should be able to find something you like. We brought in some hummus & pita bread to munch on during our tasting, but they do sell a few snack items as well. We ordered two 4oz Beehive Cheese blocks ($8.50/ea.), which were a nice addition to the tastings. If you haven't been here before, I recommend you give them a try. They do take walk-ins, but reservations are recommended.

Everything about this spot is lovely. Amazing atmosphere, fun life music, friendly and caring staff. When we were there they also had a food truck which was fun! We did a reserve white and a reserve red tasting to share between the two of us and loved the diversity of the wine available. Plus tried tastings of many other available wines and loved that we could try tasters without ordering a full glass of everything. Bought two bottles of our favorites which gave us a surprise 10% off with the tasting. Will be back in future visits! Thanks

The views are nice and the patio is big with lots of tables and seating! They offer nicer version of a Lunchables to snack on but I believe you can bring your own! We ordered 2 flights- their bubbles and a mixed (red and whites) and didn't finish our tastings! So that's where I will leave it! We are members to several wineries in Temecula and 1 in Fallbrook- love supporting small wineries !!!

Visited on a Sunday afternoon. Driving from San Diego half the fun of visiting wineries in Escondido/Ramona is the drive! Hungry Hawk Winery has beautiful views and a lovely flora in and around the winery. The staff is friendly and happy to answer any questions. Unfortunately, their wines were not as great as I'd hoped. The taste was simply not there. I did their Reserve Tasting Flight which comes with the: 2022 Estate Grenache - very very light wine with no hint of sweetness. 2021 Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon - on the lighter side for a cab 2020 Lonesome Oak Carmenere - simply didn't like 2021 Estate Syrah Noir- had slightly better notes than their carmenere but nothing special. Overall disappointed with their wine selections. I did a wine tasting from their reserve wines and they weren't exciting. Unfortunately wouldn't be back. Great views. Not so great wine.

It was a bit on the early side when we got to this vineyard... Beautiful outdoor space . The person that greeted us at the door and also delivered our flight to our table was so sweet. We did not order food however they do have food. It's a very dog friendly space. We really enjoyed our time.

This turned out to be a wonderful surprise! We weren't planning to visit a winery but we happened to be in the area and decided to to check one out. They offer 4 different sets of flights (mixed, red, reserve -- which a heavier red and dessert). I really enjoyed the reserve and dessert flights, especially their Lucas Aurelius Port wine. It's sweet and complex and according to our server, it goes perfectly on top of vanilla ice cream! We liked it so much we bought a couple of bottles to bring home. Food: Although they do have some snacks for sale, they also allow you to bring your own food!

Escondido wine tasting can be a little hit or miss but Hungry Hawk is a hit! Located just 6 mins from the Safari Park, this place is the perfect place to stop and enjoy a relaxing glass or tasting. Since it was our first time, my husband and I opted to get both red options: standard and reserve. We enjoyed the majority of what we tasted. We would've loved to learn a little more about what we were tasting but it seems they have many estate wines which we could likely see growing right in front of us. Service was great in accommodating us early and with a friendly smile! The view was terrific and we loved facing the vines. There was live music happening on the patio that was also quite enjoyable. While they have a limited amount of small bites of cheese and crackers and such, you can also BYOF.

They're still amazing. The hubby and I haven't been to Hungry Hawk since pre-Covid. Yesterday was our first trip back to enjoy their superb deck, gorgeous views of the valley, and amazing wines (or course). We decided to go with a "red tasting" and a "reserve tasting", and share them. All 8 wines were stellar! Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable too. So extra points for that! I'd forgotten how much I enjoy HH. They really do produce world-class wines, with world-class service.

I live very close to this lovely place and finally got over to visit. They had live music the day we were there and it was a little chilly (for California, of course, always need to qualify that!). The view is gorgeous, the tables and seating are very comfy, and the hosts are super nice. Now here's the best part, they have blankets in a basket on a table that you can grab and use outside to be comfy and warm while you're sipping your wine. How cool is that?!?! Plus they have free bottled water in a basket, such a nice touch. We had a white and a red and both had full, pleasant flavors. The white was my favorite, very refreshing and light, but the red was also very good. I decided to become a member and now I can go whenever I want and get a free flight each time! The flight is so pretty with a wine glass tucked into a wooden board and 4 different tastings. The second time we were there, they also had live music, which was great both times. I will say the food offerings are limited. We didn't order food the second time but the first they were out of the charcuterie and only had crackers and a soft cheese. Not bad, but we were looking for a little more. They said they sometimes have food trucks, which will be a nice option. You can also bring your own food, which for me is a great option! I'll take better pictures next time, but posted a video of the performer the first time we were there who was very good! All and all, this is a great little place that's friendly with beautiful views, good wine, nice entertainment, and extra comforts that make you feel right at home!

She stated she doesn't understand why "sunset is advertised online" when they are closed during summer sunset time. She seemed a bit annoyed at us, which I understood as closing time was happening soon. We left before other patrons did, prior to 8:30pm. I had no issue with that, my issue was with the way she spoke to my partner. As we were closing out she said we could not get a new glass, but could get topped off. My boyfriend asked if she could top off his glass, and she said something along the lines of "look at you using a new vocab word, you were paying attention to what I said". I'm not one who gets offended easily, but that comment came across as patronizing to me. Perhaps that wasn't her intention, but it was how it was perceived. Such a shame. I'd love to continue coming back, I just hope future interactions are more welcoming.

There are two parking lots that we saw, one closer to the bottom which was gravel but would require a walk up two flights of stairs, or there's a lot closer to the tasting room (paved) but is more limited. We were able to snag a spot up at the top luckily. They have a two sample limit & then you can buy drinks by the bottle or glass. The day we went they were having a 25% off bottle sale. There was only one employee we saw during the entirety of our visit but he was super friendly. We ordered a bottle, the charcuterie platter and a pizza. The charcuterie board is refrigerated and they provide a bag of crackers as well. We went with the veggie pizza & it took maybe 20 minutes to come out and was absolutely delicious. The grounds themselves are absolutely gorgeous. There are 3 covered areas to sit at up top with plenty of seating. Down the first flight of stairs has a fish pond and some beautiful areas to walk around. I'm not sure if that area was where they do weddings as there was also a spot across the way with a dais, but we didn't make it over there. The wine was delicious! We tried two of the whites and the sweet rosé. I'm not normally a rosé fan, but it was my favorite wine I had there. Overall we had a really relaxing time with beautiful views. I highly recommend checking out Sunshine Mountain Vineyard.

It was the perfect way to sample their wines while enjoying the scenery. We also ordered two pizzas: the Sunshine Cheese Delight and the Sunshine Meat Lover. Both were good and hit the spot. We added a large bag of Stellar Pretzel to share, and for dessert (because I absolutely have a sweet tooth), we tried the Sunshine Double Chocolate Cake and Tiramisu. I prefer sweeter wines and ordered the Rosa and Riesling , both were great and exactly what I was hoping for. A couple things to note: I had read in other reviews that there were servers, but when we visited, we ordered inside, were given a buzzer, and picked up our food ourselves. It was also pretty cold outside, and it took some time for the staff to turn on the warmers. We came on a Sunday and learned that live music starts at 3 PM. My husband and I definitely plan to come back for a date when there's live music playing. We were able to park near the top by the tasting room, which was convenient. There's also seating below near a beautiful waterfall and koi pond , it's a bit of a walk down (and back up). Overall, such a scenic spot with good food, sweet wine options, and a relaxing atmosphere. We'll be back!
