Nick and his associate did a great job on installing our new custom fireplace glass doors. The process turned out to be more difficult than expected since whoever remodeled our property before purchase did such a poor job. Our fireplace is apparently slightly concave, which did not allow the doors to sit flush on all four corners and left small gaps on the sides. Nick did the best he could, under the circumstances, and took the time to come up with the most aesthetically pleasing solution. Nick was even kind enough to offer to come back and remount the doors once I get the fireplace resurfaced and retiled to resolve the issue. I would have definitely given 5 stars if only follow-up had not become a problem beforehand. While we understand that manufacturing was delayed (a 6 months wait) due to COVID, it was expected that Nick or one of his associates would reach out to inform and update us periodically on the project status. However, I was the one who kept initiating contact in an effort to touch base and figure out when my doors may be arriving so we can begin installation. That being said, Nick is very personable and respectful. Him and his team exercised caution and wore masks + shoe covers every time they came by, which we greatly appreciated since we have two little ones running around the house. All the local retailers (Tarzana and Encino) were terribly expensive and the prices did not include installation. I finally found CORE! Their fair price included installation. We literally experienced a plumber leave midway through a project because it started raining. Outside. While he was working. Inside. 4. He was able to diagnose the problem and fix it quickly. And while he was here, he cleaned the fireplace at no extra charge. Including all the cobwebs under the fireplace and all the glass. He probably doesn't want me to post that here, but he just went above and beyond. He also left a couple of free gifts including Christmas chocolates. He was about $150 more than the lowest bidder on Yelp, but I preferred his helpful nature and his motivation to fix the problem. With the other bidders, they acted like they were doing me a favor. Very pleased! We just purchased a home and knew pretty much nothing about the state of our fireplaces or chimneys - except that the prior owners showed them zero love or care and that we were starting from scratch. At his first visit, Nick was very friendly and demonstrated care regarding his trade and the repair that I presented him. However, I ended up not working with them having had to continue to chase them for insight/information regarding parts arrival and such and parts being delayed for well over a month. Having made several calls to Violet for follow up (you'd think they would keep me posted rather than having to chase them for updates), I received promises of call backs which never happened. Further, Nick had made commitments with regards to parts and when those deadlines slipped, I never received an update, except that a few days ago when I called to inquire, the timelines were extended additional weeks without any tracking information. I'd give 4 stars for friendly service and what appeared to be good knowledge. I'd give 1 star for their front office 'support' which ultimately was non-existent. All said, I contacted a competitor whom came out next day, diagnosed the fireplace and was able to repair it within 30 minutes suggesting that the parts were working fine - a heat sensor needed to be reset. They even stayed an additional 20 minutes to thoroughly test the unit, and I'm up and running again. I believe Core Fireplace has a lot of good potential to be a better service provider, but as it stands today, I would not offer a recommendation. read more
