We heard great things about Cork Dork and were excited to try it & it didn't disappoint! It is in a neighborhood strip mall and is beautiful inside. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The electronic menu was really nice and interactive offering pictures of everything. We ordered cocktails, burrata, Brussel sprouts, cavatelli and burger with fries. Everything was really tasty and portions were sharable. They also have a wide wine and beer assortment with a lot of local options!. My husband and I came here for date night and were very impressed with the service, as well as the quality of food and wines. The location in Westlake was unexpected, but we honestly think it's a unique gem for this area. We shared a flight of Napa red wines and were pleasantly surprised to see Aaron the Sommelier share his knowledge of the wines with us. We shared the Smoked Trout, Baby Beets, Truffle Fries, and the Prime Hanger Steak - everything tasted amazing! My husband commented, "My itch to go to Maestro's has disappeared." The steak was that good! Be sure to get reservations for this place because it will get full on a Saturday night! Honestly, my boyfriend and I were so excited to try this place (mainly because of the name)! So fun! When we got there, there was only one other couple inside. The whole place was so dark and dreary, and we could barely see our drinks when we got them. Honestly, we could have fallen asleep inside because of how dark it was. The wine we had was mediocre, the service wasn't memorable, and the whole place just felt underwhelming. The only thing that stuck out for us was that there were some matches that they gave out outside, which was kind of unique. I'd say save your time and don't come here if you're looking for a good place for wine or a good ambiance. read more

We thought it would be nice to stop in to have a glass of wine tonight. We asked the bartender for a recommendation for a glass of white wine. He poured us 2 glasses of Chardonnay from Europe. When we got our bill we were shocked.... $70 for 2 glasses of wine! We were in Oak Park, not Beverly Hills, in a shopping center next to Pavilions. I haven't written a review in years but I felt it necessary to warn future patrons of their outrageous pricing. My husband and I went here last night for my birthday dinner, and I must say, everything exceeded my expectations. I read a one star review on this restaurant, and it was so obvious the person was looking for a deal on food, and even went as far as to criticize the iPad covers because of the coronavirus so I wish I could respond to that person because they're a little bit over the top. But it makes sense since they are an elite yelper and if anybody has seen the South Park episode, I'm sure that person has received the yelpers special. Anyways, One of our servers Alyse brought me and amuse bouche which was yummy it was a champagne infused watermelon piece with basil....so refreshing! I ordered The Dork Burger which was perfectly cooked and the flavors were amazing with the bacon jam and arugula and Gruyere cheese. We also ordered the Burrata and tomato salad appetizer, which was amazing! The burger was perfectly cooked at medium rare, and it was accompanied by really tasty french fries. I should've gotten the truffle fries but next time. My husband ordered the steak which was perfectly cooked and we ordered a side of broccolini, which was also perfectly cooked, and it was the best broccolini we've ever had. For dessert, our servers Ginger and Alyse brought out vanilla ice cream with a candle (free of charge), and then I ordered the chocolate croissant bread pudding, which, of course was amazing. Our servers Ginger and Alyse were AMAZING! They were attentive and made sure our drinks were always filled. The managers Dan and Danny would check on us every now and then to make sure we were happy. The restaurant was full. It wasn't too loud but it was definitely a nice casual feel. We will definitely be back as we live literally one minute away. Fantastic. Cork Dork gets it: small menu but everything is great. Fresh herbs and bold flavor that isn't over powering either. It is also the little things they pay attention to, and it shows: time is taken with presentation of the food, and a great atmosphere. We just moved from Pennsylvania, and kept hearing California had an amazing food scene. Until I came to Cork Dork I was disappointed. Pennsylvania is much more than cheese steaks, trust me there are many amazing places to eat there (I love food: I love a good cheese steak or a good fast food burger, but I also love a good prime aged steak with fresh veggies and sides). Our Valentine's Day meal was disappointing - too expensive for the portion size, pairing a wine with the meal would have made it better but they didn't do that, we were seated next to some sort of social media person who was using a spot light and large camera to photograph her meal which was just inconsiderate to paying guests (her meal was on the house), the dessert portion that this social media person received was larger than the same dessert that my wife ordered, the corkage fee was way too high, luckily we had a bottle of 2013 Dom Perignon so it made the corkage fee easier to swallow - this was our second visit and probably our last. read more

This place has promise but needs to figure out how to successfully be busy. We definitely plan on giving them another try in a month or so, and we really hope they have figured things out. When we arrived for our Saturday reservation, we were warmly greeted and had a few options for seating. We chose sitting at the bar (which is normally open seating), as we love interacting with bartenders. Brittney was very friendly and had to explain to us how to use the Moet vending machine. I think they should have some signage for that, really. But, you ask your server or bartender for a Moet coin and you can go over to the machine and choose your rose or standard sparkling; of course they'll get it for you, but it's fun to get it. They provide you "toppers" which seem to aerate the sparkling, as well as provide a spout for drinking right out of the bottle. You can also request glasses, but, again, it's part of the fun. A little pricey at $19/each, but fun. The energy in the place is great, with good music that is loud and, frankly, a bit surprising in Oak Park. I did not expect to hear more contemporary hip hop, but I was pleased. As the restaurant started getting busier, that's where the cracks started to show. We asked Brittney if we could chat with Aaron, the sommelier, as there are many wines on the list with which we are not familiar. In the interim, Jim G. ordered a really nice Russian River Chardonnay from Ramey. After about 10 minutes and observing Aaron pouring water and bussing tables, we asked the hostess (who was right behind us) if we could talk with Aaron, as Brittney was slammed and barely able to breathe, much less engage in conversation. While we were waiting, we had been able to put an appetizer order in, so we were able to enjoy the amuse bouche, the Smoked Trout on toast, and the Anchovy Tempura. Everything we ate was delicious and the chef is not afraid of bold flavors! However, we didn't want to order anything more substantial without hearing about the wine. So we waited. And waited. And waited. Close to 30 minutes after we first asked, Aaron came over. He was friendly, but I was very disappointed with his assistance. I told him the types of wine I like, flavor profile, etc. He said, rapid-fire: "try the Bodegas Alto or the Chapellet." He said it so quickly that I had to ask him to repeat himself and make sure I knew which wines he was discussing. He didn't say what the wines were, why I would like them, etc. One was $12/for a 5 oz glass and the other $29. He was walking away as he said it, since he was so busy essentially being a waiter, rather than a sommelier. Our bartender/server was too busy to breathe, take orders, or engage in conversation and the sommelier was too busy to actually talk about wine and essentially brushed us off after he rattled off a couple wines. At that point, the vibe was kind of ruined for us, and I wasn't interested in spending another $100 on food and wine (just the apps, the Moets, and the white wine was $85 before tax and tip). It was frustrating to see Aaron spending 8-10 minutes with some tables, see the owner spending multiple visits with some ladies at the bar who were disappointed that the Truffle Fries allegedly smelled like truffle when they asked to have no truffles (why order truffle fries??) , and we couldn't get the basic level of service. Like I said, the few things we tasted were so very good, so the place has promise. The lovely woman at the front (I think the owner, not the hostess) asked us for feedback and I did tell her that the service was pretty non-existent once things got busy; she expressed that it was one of the first nights they've really been this busy. I mentioned that everything was good, but that maybe they need to hire more staff or something; we told her we would try them again, and we definitely plan to. I genuinely hope they can figure out how to successfully be busy. read more

What started as an innocent night out with my boyfriend ... ended up with our two best friends showing up and buying us rounds of drinks as the whole restaurant went with it.... I can absolutely say, this started a war. They had the kitchen send us two of our favorite wines... which was very *sincere* but also kinda *cheap*. So we decided to send them back a flight of EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE white wine because we are better than them. But we soon learned that they were better than us when they sent us the most rich and decadent desert that the head chef could make. He used the riches cream and largest piece of chocolate that he had. All and all. It was an extremely pleasure able experience. We had the truffle fries, cheese board, smoked trout, and risotto. Great food, everything tastes fresh and full of flavor! I particularly love the beet salad and the gnocchi. Service was great, ambiance was okay, a little loud and small but I'm fine with that as long as the food is good. Only two things I would change are 1) make the appetizers larger, it's not enough to share 2) please put bread on the menu, restaurants should always offer bread!
