My partner insisted we stop here while on a work trip, I was a bit apprehensive. But as soon as we walked through the door I knew it was about to be good! Staff is fun and friendly! I got the special meatloaf hoagie, my partner got the California dog and a chili cheese dog. We shared some loaded tater tots as well. Loved Corky's Dawg House! Every single thing we ate was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the BBQ burger! Of you can, try the fries, the bbq chicken, the Mac n cheese and the Mac n cheese balls. The pepperoni roll was not what we expected but the roll was good nonetheless. We saw other customers get the bourbon caramel shake and decided to try it. It was sooo yummy!!! We were told there's a new shake starting Jan 1 that will blow this one out of the water. Hope we get a chance to try it before the end of our trip. We had just finished a 5 mile hike in the Pisgah Forest and was hungry and needed to eat before we headed back to Augusta so we found a cute place called Corky's Dawg House which had different hot dogs and sausage dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches including a fried bologna, and a lot of different shakes. I ordered a Chicago Dog because you can't find these everywhere and I hadn't had one in a while. As my side I ordered the Honey Sriracha Fried Brussel Sprouts. Both were delicious. My husband ordered a breakfast burger which was also delicious because of course I had to taste his burger. He ordered tater tots with Cajun spice on them as his side. The sides are huge portions by the way. For dessert I ordered the White Chocolate Raspberry milkshake and it is exactly what it sounds like. Walked in and the place looked very nice and clean, like good money was spent on aesthetics. Being from Chicago, we were looking forward to a combo (beef/sausage) sandwich. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. My husband had a simple cheeseburger which was decent but not memorable. I ordered the combo which had to be sent back twice because it was wrong. 1st time it came out with gardiniere peppers even though it was ordered plain and dry. They took it back as soon as they delivered it and we waited a while for a replacement. They were very apologetic and I told them I would have even taken it wet, but because of health issues I couldn't handle the peppers. They brought it back a second time with no sausage, only beef. Again, we were very nice about it, as were they. The young lady server apologized again and did seem embarrassed. We were very forgiving as we are not ones to make a public scene. Where I did lose my patience is when they took a very long time to get the sandwich back to me. Having sent it out wrong 2x should have made the 3rd delivery a priority. By the time it finally came, my tots were ice cold and my husband, at my insistence finished his burger and tots. No point in us both eating cold food, right? I ended up taking half home as we were staying in a rental property 2 miles up a mountain with no lights and were already delayed in making our way because we thought we had stopped for "fast " food. As for the sandwich, it was ok. The bread was fresh, the sausage was not the Italian style back in Chicago. It was very dense. It was juicy but definitely not the same in texture and seasoning. The beef was decent. Lacked some seasoning but sliced too thick. Their chocolate shake at $7+ was absolutely delicious; thick with some malted flavor thrown in. Topped off with an abundance of what tasted like thick, flavorful whipping cream that tasted homemade and a maraschino cherry. A home run on the shake. I honestly can't say that we would return if in the area again. I was disappointed that although they apologized, they didn't attempt to credit our bill slightly or throw in what looked like a yummy jumbo chocolate chip cookie since we didn't get to eat together; kind of a common courtesy. We didn't ask.and I know it's a small business so we let it go.I know restaurants are still struggling post COVID and this may have been just an oops moment. Hopefully, it was an isolated incident.
