Love, love, love Corndance Tavern! It is by far, my most favorite restaurant in the U.S. I love the farm to table concept, and I love the freshness of each item offered on the menu. This was our second time here and we were impressed... again! The farm to fork dishes were unique and done very well. We had the steak fo due, the hummus platter and their corndance (side) salad. Although these are all small plates we left satisfied. The wine selection was great as well. Our server Janna was very attentive and the atmosphere was nice. Wow! This is one of my favorite restaurants in this area. I've eaten here several times. The halibut is fantastic. Most recently I had the honey bourbon fried chicken. It was out of this world--so phenomenally good! I told Chef Drew that it was the BEST fried chicken I've ever had. So crispy in the outside and so moist on the inside. Highly recommend this place. Wish I could give it a "6!!!" My husband and I are spoiled food people - we know and appreciate great food and great service! Everyone on staff made it a point to chat w us and the food was delicious and very creative. The food on the sword changes daily - it was nummy! The cake in a can was a surprise and a hit. I love the concept of this place. The execution just isn't there yet. With that being said, this place is probably top 5 in the South Bend area. I couldn't remember what we ordered, it was that unmemorable. According to my pictures, we had ham cupcakes, bison meatloaf, and something I can't determine that was a daily special. I grew up in this town and haven't been back for years. I was there for a couple days so didn't really have a chance to see what else was out there. Instead of going to the same chain restaurants, give this place a shot. It will blow Chili's, Friday's, and Houlihan's out of the water. It also supports locals. The one thing that I still rave about from this place is the whiskey beer. I think it was called Dragon's Breath? It is GOOD, and strong, and I wish I could get it where I live now. read more

First visit to the Mishawaka location and it will NOT be our last! We were greeted and welcomed promptly... Seated within minutes... Our server Nathan S. Was awesome!!! He had more personality than 100 typical servers (and I'm picky on this!). Our appetizer took a little long but was great ...alligator!! Our meal was very good also. My husbands ribeye was flavorful but slightly tough. My prime rib was done to perfection and my sides were delicious... And did I mention it came with a complimentary glass of wine!?!? My daughter had a pasta dish and she really liked it although the chicken was overdone. Yes, it's a little pricier than our usual casual Sunday dinners out but it was Mother's Day and we wanted to try it out. Well worth it!! All our dishes were very well prepared and not over-salted. Wait staff and food runners excellent but we were initially seated in the front Taco Bell Deli room which was overly bright and the hostess was snarky when we requested to be seated in the dining room. You could even hear her eye roll when relaying the info to another host. Situation was quickly resolved and we were immediately taken to the main dining room. We were celebrating moving my son to Notre Dame. We had had the alligator bites when my daughter attended ND in 2012-2016. So we returned with our 2 youngest sons with great expectations. We got the Alligator bites...tasted like chewy calamari...but "alligator"...so the boys liked them. Got the Bison bites which were very tasty and the highlight of my meal. My hubby got the halibut which he loved! One son got the surf and turf which he consumed in seconds..good but very small portions. ND son got the aged beef for $75 which he enjoyed but was overpriced. I got the Togarashi Duck which was the toughest duck I have ever had. It was not tender duck breast. It was two over-cooked duck legs. My $5 Sams club rotisserie chicken is so tender..this was really bad. I also got a side of lobster mac and cheese...like 3 lobster chunks and elbow macaroni and burnt cheese on top?? Very strange and disappointing. Suffice to say, we will not return to Corndance over the next 4 years...very disappointed and sad. I was so looking forward to this meal. Our server did a great job so got a great tip but good service cannot make me go back. read more

Was there on Oct. 16 for a birthday dinner. Two of us had the Halibut special. Because we were celebrating neither of us talked about how bad the meal was until we got into the car and were driving home. The fish was bland had the consistency of mashed potatoes and the rice was very overcooked. Far cry from their normal quality. I absolutely loved Cat's Coffee, one of the best drinks I have had in a while. The appetizers are reasonably priced and the Elote Corn was delicious. However, the entree prices were way too expensive for my taste, especially the steaks. My husband and I have eaten there a few times in the past and have always loved it. This past Friday, we were celebrating our anniversary and sadly, this visit did not live up to our expectations. The server did not seem to be into his career that night and was less than engaging. My husband loved his meal, a roasted chicken dish. Unfortunately, I ordered a ribeye and it was meh, a little dry ( I had ordered med-rare) and not much flavor. For $47 I expect high quality, I felt like I could have gotten a better steak at Outback at half the price. Arrived for our reservation we made over a week ago and were seated in the bar. Looking back I would have asked for a seat in the main room as the traffic in the bar was a little high and distracting. My fault for not asking to be switched right away. Beer list was unimpressive. Touted they where associated with Evil Czech brewery but only had two of their beers. Had no IPAs on tap. At least one is standard for a decent beer restaurant. Appetizer was great but our meal came about five minutes after our appetizer was finished. For a restaurant like this I expect better timing and more time to relax between plates. Food was decent but overall I felt rushed and left feeling like I overpaid for my experience. Was disappointed since it was a night out with my wife we don't get too often with two kids. read more
