Been here a few times and felt like a dinner salad tonight. I was very disappointed by the salad itself. When it's a dinner salad I expect it to be a bowl full of lettuce but it came in a plate. The steak was good and had more steak than the steak dish on the menu. If you are looking for steak the salad is a good deal. If you are looking at a salad this is a terrible idea as it's so small. The server didn't want to do anything about it either. For a casino and spending $22 dollars on this dish it's not worth it and would never get it again. I was in town for work, for Junior moms weekend at smc, and since the place I usually stay was very expensive I decided to stay a bit out from town at the casino. They have some different locations for eating; but I decided to try and Kankakee for a lite dinner, I ended up having the deviled eggs that were so good! Savory and just the right amount of food! As well has a tasty dirty martini! All around great experience with friendly service! I also had a really tasty burger with everything when I went there for lunch the next day, they cooked it exactly how I asked, and I had some great Hendricks and cucumber as well! read more

Great food! I had the Black & Bleu Burger, juicy, lots of flavor, and you can't go wrong with the truffle fries. My husband had the Lobster Roll, very tasty, and you receive a heaping portion. I've only had the Bison ragu raviolis ( three times), but I have to say: Wow! A very unusual entree that delivers huge flavors that never flag throughout the entire plate. The mushroom raviolis are superb and have just the proper amount of tooth. The ragu is otherworldly! Slightly sweet and rich. Also the crostini was a garlicky delight. What a wonderful restaurant. My family of 4 went on 10/19/24, and after winning a few dollars from the casino, we went to Kankakee for dinner. Our waiter was John, and he did a great job taking care of us. I got the ribeye, cooked medium, and it had a really nice char on it. Wasn't expecting much, because of prior reviews. Surprise!! It was terrific. Be sure to make reservations as they seem to be picky about walk-in's. We had lots of stuff and it all was really good. The crab cakes were fabulous. The shrimp cocktail were jumbo "15" to a pound when most restaurants us "21" to a pound. They were very cold and crispy. Had the Ribs and surprise, they were baby back ribs, a full slab, and great. One of our table had the salmon and said it was delicious. Another had the pulled pork and really liked it. My family used to be frequent customers. The last three visits have been a huge disappointment. The first disappointment was when I ordered the ribeye steak which I used to love. It was so dry I couldn't even cut it. I asked the waiter if this was the right steak and he said yes. He didn't seem to care how bad it was and never offered a different one. I left a steak that costs over $30. The second disappointing visit we went with friends. Everything we were there to order they were out of. The waitress said they were short on chefs. It was a salad and cheese dip, so I didn't understand it must take a chef to make those things. Last night we went to see my cousin play but couldn't reserve a table. We arrived at 4:00 and were told we couldn't sit below because they were going to be busy. We were there for four hours and no one ever sat at those big tables. Not being able to split checks is also a huge hassle. I was aware of this policy although I don't understand how your establishment is unable to split checks when every place we've ever gone to does. This is a huge inconvenience since the check came to $247. I am sad because this was my favorite go to and always enjoyed the slots afterwards. read more

We arrived at 5:30 pm on Friday the 21st. We made reservations and were seated immediately. They had live music, it was not good, just loud! Our waiter took our drink order, my wife and I are not big drinkers and requested one strawberry margarita to be split into two glasses do when the waiter brought the two small glasses out we thought everything was good until we got the bill, they charged us $14 each for the margaritas that were watered down and not flavorful. We each ordered a beyond burger and when it they were brought out only one was meatless, they offered to remake the one but we had waited almost 40 minutes for our food as it was, the burgers were not particularly tasty either, I can get a better burger for $12 at Wings, etc The bill was $158. for the 4 of us, overall not a good dining experience for the price. We have eaten at the Kankakee Grill in New Buffalo numerous times - even on a couple holidays - and I feel that one is quite a bit better than this location. Our server was very good - so this is nothing to do with the service. The food was subpar. We had a couple of the same items we have had at the NB location and it was not the same. We shared the nachos and he had the Black and Blue burger. Both were just thrown together and lacking a lot of flavors. I do love their hot sauce menu - we LOVE sauces - so if you do to, ask for the iPad with the sauce and drink menus. read more

Hostesses and management refused to seat our 2 four person reservations near each other even though there were empty 4 seater tables. Told us they were for large parties. Well we watch them seat 4 people at each of those tables ant those people could have easily been sat in the booth where our husbands were sat. We decided to use our dining credits for lunch at Kankakee Grille inside Four Winds South Bend while vacationing there over the holidays. Service was good, atmosphere nice and the food was fairly tasty. Based on other yelp reviews, Hubby decided to try the brisket tacos; unfortunately, the brisket was pretty fatty. I opted for the $7 flatbread special, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and it was good but could've used more seasoning. I enjoyed the daily cocktail special which was a vodka-based mule with ginger beer, tonic and fresh lime -- a deal at only $5. [Note: alcohol is not included for use with dining credits, as expected.] We decided we want to return but maybe for dinner next time. read more

If you can walk through the casino and still have funds for food head over to the Kankakee Grille. I've eaten there several times and always had a pleasant experience. There is a full service bar with several TVs for game days. The staff has always been friendly and attentive. read more

The Bison Ribeye was excellent. The green beans were fresh and perfectly cooked. The balsamic drizzle was a nice touch. The Mrs. Had the pulled pork sandwich. She thought it was over sauced. Next time she'll get the sauce on the side. She really enjoyed the truffle fries. We had nachos, bacon cheese and jalapeño dip, as well as Calamari for appetizers. All were very good. The Mrs. Tried the Granddaughter's Mac n cheese and said it was the best she's had at a restaurant. The Son-in-Law had the blue corn meal battered fried chicken and really enjoyed it. Other members of our party had potatoes soup, and blue cheese burger, both enjoyed their food. They brought the Mrs. A chocolate birthday cake with mousse filling, topped with fruit with edible gold foil. The after dinner coffee was not very strong and lacked flavor. If you go in a party of six or more they add 20% gratuity automatically. The restrooms are not in the restaurant but out in the casino. If you have kiddos you'll need to walk them out to the restrooms and back. read more

This is becoming a new favorite. Every time we go it gets better. The service is outstanding. The bartenders are real and know how to make a classic and classy beverage. I say real because they know you don't shake a bloody mary. Last time I had the Greek Salad OH MY GOODNESS! Its amazing!!! I have had everything from Burger to Steak and its all yummy and flavorful. what can I say first off? The waitress does not know how to multitask. She does not know what is on the menu. She does not know what the menu has. She does not know how to make a drink the day. She said she pretty much. Let us know that, she could warm up ribs again because all they had was a microwave. The restaurant manager came out and confirmed that they get their ribs pre-cooked and warm them up to make them fall off the bone. The ribs were so tough. It was ridiculous. They said that's how they were even the waitress said she didn't like them because they didn't fall off the bone. we will never return. I'd rather eat at McDonald's. read more

We had the goat cheese and tomato dip...another plus! For our entree, we both selected filet mignon. The entree was paired nicely with mashed garlic potatoes and pickled green bean/onion. I have to say all that we have eaten there is absolutely delicious, but my favorite as well as my best friend is the lobster roll. So very packed with lobster on a buttery toasted roll. I'm not a casino person, but would come here again for the food. The truffle sauce for the fries was delicious and not over-powering. The burger I would've liked it more medium, however it was still juicy and full of flavor. They do have a different menu for New Years than normally. Most things will be the same except a few options. Overall, 5 stars because the service from our waitress, Brittany, was one of the best we've had in a while. We came in with a large group to celebrate a birthday. Nene was our server and absolutely top notch. She had an incredible ability to remember multiple requests and changes to orders without writing anything down! She also was very attentive and gave exceptional customer service. Our food was delicious, the salmon was cooked perfectly and everyone enjoyed their meals. The only reason for not giving a 5 star was the interaction at the hostess stand where the lady rolled her eyes out at the request for 7. My two friends and I headed to the new Four Winds Casino in South Bend and received some free meal vouchers and decided to try the Kankakee Grill. The Kankakee Grill is swanky yet casual and had plenty of great options to satisfy everyone's diet plans. I ordered the Crooked Creek burger for $15 which had Smoked Gouda, bacon and caramelized onions and came with a side of truffle fries. Yum! My friends ordered the BBQ Ribs and another ordered the Texas Combo, both of which were surprisingly delicious. We were all a bit shocked as it's hard to find good barbecue or smoked meats when you're not in the South. The one thing that was irritating and made Kankakee Grill a 4 star experience rather than a 5 star experience was that my friend ordered a beer on tap, and we saw the bartender pour the beer and waited probably 15 or 20 Minutes for the waitress to bring the beer over to our table. At this point, my friends beer was completely flat and so we asked the waitress for a new beer. She was friendly and quickly changed his beer, but I was still surprised that it was initially served and tried to be passed off as ok. Overall, I definitely think we'll be back to Kankakee Grill the next time we're in South Bend. read more

Disappointed in our food . I didn't like the added bacon in a Cesars Salad? My fault just saw " Cesars Salad " on the menu and went for it! When the server asked if olives were ok on it that should have made me pay more attention to the ingredients on the menu. . Olives on a Cesars salad? Anyway I ordered it snd the soup of the day which wasn't too disappointing. Potato leek . My husband had the salmon which came with mashed and a veg of the day a mix of squash . Nothing too spectacular and the wait was awhile . Our Server " Naj" was nice so no complaints on her. Ask for a sample of two wines , a Chardonnay and a Pinot Grigio , after about 25 minutes , I got a Chardonnay and a Pino noir. Knew right away since it was red when she brought it to our booth . Said no big deal, I'll just take the white Chardonnay. Food took awhile , but all in all for the total Bill of $ 77.00, food wasn't worth it . This is our favorite restaurant in south bend, as we are there at least once a week. We always sit at the bar and get fantastic service (thanks Aaron, Caleb, and Jena). I've never had anything that I didn't enjoy and the chipotle BBQ salmon is my favorite. The ny strip and filet are also outstanding. Brisket tacos are excellent and we switch up appetizers between the salmon spread, the cured meat/cheese tray and the wings. Don't miss out on the Parmesan truffle French fries. They also have great ribs. I can't stress enough how great the service is and we will continue to frequent this fine establishment read more
