Terrible experience here. The iced coffee tasted burnt and the food takes so long to come out. We ordered pancakes, eggs, and bacon, and a flatbread with eggs and spinach. It took 30 minutes to come out and the food was cold when got it, and they forgot avocado. read more

I come, or I should say came, here a few times a month to pick up lunch for myself & my coworkers. Every single time, I am met with an unpleasant cashier. They all look like they hate their life working there. I never see a smile out of anyone. It's really awkward & uncomfortable checking out with people you feel like your burdening to get some freaking lunch. I don't know about you, but I don't like feeling that way...I like to smile & thank people for their kind service. The only nice one I've met so far seemed like he was a manager or supervisor of some sort last night that jumped in the middle of my transaction by a young girl who obviously didn't know what she was doing. We live across the street from Aliso Viejo CB, but prefer to go to the corner bakery on El Toro, it's much cleaner and great food

Somewhat expensive for the food and located in the busy part of El Toro, I still highly recommend going there for the chicken pomodori and assortment of desserts. The breakfast offerings are simply awesome. Just don't forget the utensils on the way to your seat. read more

My husband and I frequent this restaurant,and we were here about a week ago for the $5.99 special, where you order 2 entrees. We had half a chicken pesto sandwich and soup. Today we ordered the same lunch and were told that they couldn't do it, and NEVER have. I told the second girl that we had it a week ago, she said we DON'T do that ,shrugged and walked away. My review and rating is strictly for the PANINIS. We have been going occasionally for a few years and always get a panini -- because they used to be GREAT. Over the last year, they have been a general disappointment. They put half the amount of stuff in the panini as they used to and it is very noticeable. I think we finally have to give up on it. On a side note, their tomato basil soup is very good. Maybe some of the other things are great, but can't recommend the paninis anymore. read more

The menu was confusing for my panini order and the guy insisted that the bread had to be white rye not caraway for grilling even though it was listed under panini. I wanted pickles but got chips. Asked for the side salad for $1.49 and it cost $3.49, and the long line behind me kept me from suggesting a bowl of chili instead. I felt rushed. However, the corned beef was pretty good. I go in here so much - they know to give me extra croutons & I love that personable little touch that makes you want to come back again. They ignore customers, serve cold soups, take your order for something they are all out of and let you know only after you pay, make you wait in line though no one else is in line, AND all of this happens in front of the supervisors. I was so disappointed with my visit to Corner Bakery Cafe. I arrived there about 2:30 pm on the weekend. I had double checked to be sure that they still served breakfast, and I found out that they did, so that is what I went there for. Upon arriving, I double checked and they said yes. Then I asked for a menu so that I could order. All they could tell me was there was a menu on the back side of the large menu behind them and they didn't know where any other breakfast menus would be. I asked how I would be able to order breakfast without a menu and the girl at the counter shrugged her shoulders and smiled. Restaurant is generally pretty clean. The staff is pretty friendly. I work closely and go often for my lunch. I love the food. I only give it a 4 because often they run out of ice, or straws, or sweet-n-low. It's not the end of the world, and I understand it's always during their lunch rush....but they could have a person make sure that stuff gets covered. I love Corner Bakery, and usually love this location. I come here at least once a week, usually during the lunch rush and always have pretty quick service. Today I came in on a Saturday at 1:30 and it was not packed at all. I stood at the front of the line, meaning I was next, for 10 minutes. The employees were standing around while one person was both taking orders on the phone and at the register. One girl literally looked over to me 5 times while she stood and listened to the other employee dealing with a customer. Also in the time I stood there two other customers came up and complained about their orders being wrong. This was the quietest most mellow I've seen in this location, I have no idea why they were so slow and innacurrate taking orders. By the time I actually ordered, the girl was not friendly at all, she asked if it was "for here" and I said "Yes" to which she gave me my receipt but no number. I asked for my number and after a moment of looking at me as if I should have it and blankly staring at her register, she said "You're number seven." And gave me a number. After sitting down I look at my receipt and see that I am number five, and my order was put in as "To Go" so let's see IF I will get my food, and how long....running time while writing this review....20 minutes. Went inside...sure enough "Brenda" messed up my order and there it sits in a to go bag on the counter...cold. Awesome. Considering that this is a chain and all the locations have the same menu and there is another location 3 miles away...all you've got going for you is the service...and Lake Forest location...you've failed miserably at that today. read more

I once went in on a lunch break and had to ask for my food to go because it took 20+ minutes for it to come out. It wasn't even very busy. The service was quick...but the food itself was very bland. I got the tuna salad sandwich and could barely taste the extra ingredients. Maybe it was because it was practically an icicle? Not sure but my boyfriend had the gobbler and hated it. He's not one to send food back to the kitchen but this time called for it. He too said his sandwich was ice cold and bland, the ingredients didn't exactly blend well together since the stuffing tasted no different than bread plus it was just mush. He recommends it to be a hot sandwich with gravy instead of the cranberry mayo and the stuffing to be actual chunks of bread. Like toast the pieces first to help keep the firm instead it turning into baby food. It would receive no stars if I could but the manager made up for the situation with a refund on his sandwich and a cookie for the troubles.
