Great coffee and wine too. Staff was friendly and used a team approach in taking care of patrons! When you arrive you question your choice - am I in the right place? Been there allot of times last time was a week ago ,allot of things changed there as the time pass by and not for the best. last time i ordered the spinach salad and the black been soup the soup was OK and the salad was nothing that you would expected to be served in a restaurant just to explain what i was served , the person that made that salad took bunch of baby spinach from the bag and put it on the plate and then he sprinkle a few drops of soy or something else and put a few small cubes of meat piece's and that was the way i got it no effort , no care and no taste what soever the other then is the portion got way smaller with the time very small i mean . Being French, I am always intrigued by restaurants that claim to offer French cuisine or a French experience. In most cases they offer a caricature of French cuisine and atmosphere but here, I found they managed an interesting blend of French and American in a way that offers some of the best of each. Service was quite good, fast, attentive and non intrusive. I had the black bean soup as many recommended and it was lovely, intense in flavours but not burning spicy. That's not a typical French dish but well worth it. Then I decided to see just how well the chef mastered one of my all time Alsatian favorites, the tarte flambée. In a few words, about as well as I have had this side of the ocean. There are many ways to mess up a tarte flambée - too thick, under cooked, not served piping hot out of the oven, too much onions, too much cream, under cooked pork belly etc... I am glad to report none of these atrocities took place - it was delicious. The dough was almost identical to the very best in Alsace, light and thin, and perfectly cooked. The pork belly was perfectly fried but not dry. Unfortunately this version did not include the small layer of Crême fraiche I tend to favour and had a little more onions instead (but no excess) - but at this point it is matters of preferences, nothing objectionable. The only reason for only 4 stars was actually the disappointing wine list. No French wine? Really? And what was offered was OK but certainly not best in class, and not close for $9/glass. I had the Petit Pinotage from SA and it was far from some of the best of breed I have had which busted with coffee flavours and earthy notes - this one was a pale rendition of a Pinot without much character - drinkable certainly but not a standout feature. They really need to fix that wine list ASAP, it is quite disappointing in light of the delicious food and the refine atmosphere offered otherwise. read more

We celebrated my daughter's graduation at this restaurant on 5/21 and it was wonderful. We are New Yorkers so we were a bit skeptical because all we had to rely on were the Yelp reviews. Since it was a Sunday evening, when we drove into the parking lot it was empty with very little activity. We were a bit aghast (being New Yorkers) but we decided to proceed into the restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was delightful and charming. And, the food and service was outstanding service, we loved all of it, every dish was delish and freshly made. The key lime pie is to die for. We had Jake as our server and he was extremely accommodating and patient. I actually spoke with him when I made the reservation and he made sure the table was set nicely for us. We were very impressed and all seven of us left happy and grateful for the time we spent dining there. read more

I've eaten all over North Delaware and am typically disappointed at overpriced and flavorless food. My husband and I stopped in after a terrible day at both of our respective jobs last week and had the loveliest time. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door, we had a very sweet waitress (who made a great wine selection to match our entres), the food was wonderful and the menu diverse. Have dined at Corner Bistro a half dozen times over the last three years. Food--including the black bean soup--is tasty, dependable, and nicely presented. Wine and beer lists offer a plethora of choices. Decor is stylish, dark, and welcoming. Wait staff is typically helpful, courteous, and friendly. Therein lies my particular axe to grind. I recently visited CB for a late-night drink with my spouse. I strolled in at 10:15;my wife, whom I was meeting there, followed a few minutes later. Upon arrival, the female bartender eyed me up and gave me the proverbial "I smell shit" look. I asked her when they closed. 11, was her annoyed reply. I felt sheepish, for no good reason. When my wife arrived, we sat ready to order, and for three solid minutes the bartender stood with her back turned to us and polished glasses. When she finally turned, the scowl on her face made my wife and I more than a little uncomfortable. The bartender seemed to go out of her way to be unfriendly. One bad experience does not a complete opinion make, but the woman's surliness made me wonder why I was spending money there. I should have said something then--to her--but didn't. Eating delicious brunch looking at the Eiffel tower as Bob Seger loudly sings about his "night moves" does not seem like a good fit. A good, solid meal on a night where there wasn't too much of a crowd, which meant there was no sound level to deal with. The atmosphere is casual, pub-like- the bar was full with people eating and drinking, although the restaurant area was not very busy. The food was a notch better than expected. A perfectly pleasant meal, starting with homemade sweet potato gnocchi-followed by the salmon with asparagus- fellow diner had the the chicken with a balsamic glaze- portions large, as most portions seem to be these days- our server was very attentive and made great suggestions. I was in town visiting for the weekend and would definitely go there again. I had been to a few other local restaurants and did not like them at all, so this was my best experience. read more

A diamond in the rough! The location in a small nondescript shopping center might turn some people off but those who venture forth will be sumptuously rewarded. First, you walk in to a cozy small bar that made you want to grab one of the unusual comfortable looking bar chairs and sit for a chat. Next you walk into the main dining room and see a room in perfect balance, decor wise. Then it gets better when you are served a perfect Jack Daniels Manhattan that everyone else seems unable to mix in the correct proportions. The house green salad was absolutely delicious and wasn't made with the usual Costco mixed greens. Fresh, hand picked greens with a very good light dressing, cranberries, candied pecans & cheese.. My friend had the hamburger and she said it was the best ever! A nice wine was chosen from an impressive list. Service was nicely timed and the staff very congenial. I have only two minor suggestions...while the decor is very cosmopolitan and in exquisite taste, all the heavy black "maleness" needs just a touch of "feminine" lightness. A small vase with 2 or 3 real flowers (so inexpensive these days) would "lift" the setting just enough to balance the general feel of the room. Also, while the service was excellent, it would be so nice if the wait staff would introduce themselves when seating their guests. I needed to get our waiter's attention but had no idea what to call him beside "waiter". It lacks the personal touch. Boyfriend took me here for a date Friday night and with a name like corner bistro I wasn't expecting much. But once seated and we saw the decor and menu we changed our minds real quick. It's a farm to fork concept kind of dining! Menus changing I guess daily or weekly. We got the cheese plate appetizer with 3 diff cheeses ,pickled watermelon radish, candied peanuts,aged balsamic, olives, toasts and rosemary infused honey. Nothing was left!!! I got the coffee and molasses porkchop and he got the tamarin braised short rib. Food came out hot and delicious!!!! We also split the key lime pie for dessert and it was soooo good!!! Wasn't too heavy I didn't feel guilty after inhaling it. Highly recommend getting it!!! Our server was so pleasant and attentive. And our check even came with warm white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. Atmosphere is very nice. We got a table against the wall so he sat in a chair and I sat on the wall bench they even had pillows on the seats attached to the wall. I cannon wait to go back to this place! I'm way overdue for this review but couldn't live with myself without leaving one. I wanted to throw my sister a going away party before her deployment. I didn't want to do a big dinner, just something small in the bar area here since I'm obsessed with the atmosphere/setting. I went in and the owner greeted me and shared the same excitement I had talking about the vision I wanted for my sisters get together. Her favorite drink is a Manhattan and he came up with the idea to put small drink signs in the bar area reading the "Shan-Hattan" as the featured drink of the night. (Her name is Shannon) I loved it and he had the best cherries to complement the drink. We were able to pre order a bunch of happy hour appetizers for our small party and everything that came out was delicious! The bar tender was very entertaining and let us stay late into the night celebrating. Can't say enough good things about this place, the food and drinks are delicious (especially the key lime pie), and the service was impeccable! Highly recommend! read more

I really wanted to like this place--it serves local meat/produce and is super close to my house, but it was a complete disappointment. We started with the house salad, which was fine, but uninspired. The entrees were a disaster. I had the salmon, which was overcooked and extremely bland. The risotto was so flavorless I had add a ton of salt and sriracha just to taste anything. The fish tacos were okay, but the rice that came on the side was pretty bad. It reminded me of rice from Taco Bell. The burger was the best part, but it was cooked well, when ordered medium. The fries tasted like they were from McD, but with no salt. The waiter never asked how things were and took one of our forks without bringing another(which would have been fine, but he never came back to check on us). He was waiting on another table right next to us and actively ignored us each time he went over to them. When he brought the receipt, he gave us white chocolate chip coconut cookies, which were delicious. Overall, a real bummer. It's a great concept and a cute space, but it's pathetic that with a small menu and good ingredients, they can't execute a decent meal. read more

Even if I was given a gift card for a free meal, I dont think I would come back. When we sat down, we were given a bowl full of pistachios. Although cute, I'm allergic to nuts and asked for bread. The bread wasn't served until after our appetizer. For a teacher who has been on her feet all day coming from a Friday night viewing, I just wanted a piece of bread. The water glasses were filled, but that's about it. I honestly contemplated stopping for pizza on my way home from the restaurant. Our meal took over an hour to be served. The waitress never even acknowledged how long it was taking. And, I refuse to ever complain before the food comes out because I fear someone will spit in my food. I had chicken which was good, but I could have made at home. For $17, I expected so much more. My sister got stir fry and added salmon. Without the salmon, it would have been just veggies....and not satisfying. The potatoes were awful. Seriously, I would eat anything not nailed down on a normal day, but I almost think they forgot to season them or something. I do not think I would return. read more

First time at the bistro and was satisfied. We went when it was practically dead so we got super fast service. The setup is a little strange to me and it's a little small, but otherwise nice. Our server was super attentive and patient. We split the brie appetizer and loved it. It was very tasty and the blackberry jam was perfect.I would highly recommend it. My partner had the Goat cheese, spinach mushroom sandwich and cleaned her plate. She said it was incredible. I had clam chowder that was good, but very very peppery so it had a kick to it. We split the apple crisp and it was also very good. Overall, the food was pretty good, but the portions are small, especially the dessert, for the price. It was $6 bucks and came in this insanely tiny bowl. I eat out all the time and was actually shocked at the size of the bowl. It was like a mini dessert. They do end the meal with some tasty cookies so that's always a plus. Had we known that we prob would've gone without the apple crisp since it was a pretty small portion for the price. Oh well, we know for next time. We will go back just not too often because it's overpriced. read more

Heather and I don't get to go out much, so when we do, we try to find new places to try. That's not a bad idea, but we sometimes forget the places we love. Tonight we stopped in to Corner Bistro to grab a drink. We didn't intend on eating there, but got to talking with the owner, Micky. After a while of talking about shared experiences we decided to eat there. We forgot why we love this place. The food is not only always great, but they make you feel special. Micky made the braciola himself, so tried it. It was great, as everything always is. However, he/they went way out of there way and decided to make our rare night out extra special. He threw down a checkered table cloth and a candle in a Chianti bottle and said it was for our "Italian dinner." Keep in mind, this isn't an Italian restaurant and the decor is modern/French bistro-ish. Everyone should come here at least once a week. Keep this local place going, please!
