We have been frequenting the Corner Butcher Shop (CBS) for decades (seriously). CBS is exactly what every local business should strive to bring to the community. The ownership gets engaged, food safety is always priority 1, the quality is always excellent (and they are happy to explain it to you if you ask), they regularly experiment with new offerings, they offer great seasonal specials not found anywhere else in the area, and their staples are outstanding. What they are not is cheap, but they are fair. If you want cheap, go to Kroger, Walmart or Target for your meats and specialty items. Finally, as a testament to how much we value CBS, we considered moving to another county a few years ago and ultimately rejected the idea because the commute to CBS would simply be too far and there was no place remotely comparable in the area (seriously). Every establishment can rub someone wrong on occasion, and you'll see that reflected here with 1 star ratings, but if you want great variety, great quality, and great service for the long run (over 20 years for me), you'll be hard pressed to find a place on par with CBS. read more

Dropped in to grab some sammies to go after seeing some positive feedback on Google. Family member was very high on the Reuben (special of the day). The Italian was pretty solid. The beef poboy tasted good but the quality of the meat was definitely lacking with a significant amt of inedible gristle. Can't speak to the butcher shop offerings but they had quite a range of offerings, as well as a ton of precooked things to go such as various dips, soups, sides, and vacuum sealed packs of meat (think duck breast, venison, etc). Don't mind supporting a local business but def not something to eat often as 3 sandwiches ran $35 and change (all sandwiches are $9-10 ea plus $1 if you sub a legit side item instead of the chips). Have been a customer for almost a decade and have tried almost everything. Never disappointed. Everyone is very knowledgeable and never minds answering questions. Yes, they even know my name. Fresh meats are far superior to anything in grocery or club stores. Ribs and dip - game day specials - score! Soups and dips are top notch. Mimi's Gumbo is the only gumbo. Candace's White Kickin Chili is my favorite. Peppered meat sticks are a must have and great in gift baskets or stockings. Sandwiches are all so so good! $1 upcharge for gourmet side over chips is a bargain. (Most other places $2-$3) Holidays made easy and enjoyable! Order it all and as Candace says, don't forget the gravy. Speaking of gift baskets - check out the jellies, pickles, sauces, spices. Make sure to stock your pantry as well. Deer processing is very affordable and honestly, I just don't trust anyone else. Attended a wedding that they catered and was blown away. Everyone was raving about the food! I'd love to be able to review the incredible service or awesome product, but I didn't get a call back... I called earlier in the year about getting bone-in beef short ribs for a special occasion meal at home. The guy I spoke to seemed very friendly but told me he'd have to see if they could be sourced in time and call me back. That phone call never came and I think I ended up getting the spare ribs from Wal**** or something. I would've preferred supporting a local business and getting meat that a human put their eyes on and deemed edible, but beggars can't be choosers. I've heard great things about this shop, from their marvelous meat to their courteous people. Well, I finally went there today and it's all true! I was amazed by both. The selection is awesome and if you're into cooking outdoors, barbecuing, etc. this is like a "candy shop" to a kid. Rubs, sauces, premium meats, many other foods to choose from. Even limp charcoal for the serious grilled. I love to cook a Boston Butt and plan to get my next one here to smoke on the Egg. I bought some smoked wings to try and their stuffed half baked potato (my son called and said I Had to try it! We love this place since it is so convenient to come in and grab meat to cook or come in and grab subs for lunch. They sell an assortment of steaks, brats, sausage, chicken, grill rubs, apple butter, side dishes, chicken salad, Mac n cheese, salsa, chips, sauces, bread, and so much more. They are open every day which is awesome too. We come here at least once a week to grab something. The staff is friendly and very informative. It can get crowded during prime weekend hours or before holidays. My family enjoys coming in and grabbing steaks to grill. I've also tried the chipotle chicken sandwich and it is great as well. I love this place. I got a gift card from a friend and it encouraged me to finally go in. I was immediately greeted with a warm, friendly welcome. I knew I wanted some chicken salad so I grabbed some of that and the BBQ pork and pimento cheese also caught my eye. The chicken salad was the best. Seriously. It's smoked chicken and there's some kind of dried fruit in it and it's just so good. I could live off the stuff. BBQ pork also delicious. The cuts of meat were beautiful and for a small little shop they had a lot to choose from. I'll be back soon to buy a few steaks. Took me 15 years living in this area to try this place. I am not even sure how to describe this place...Cajun Deli? I don't know but if you are looking for Cajun food like your grandma use to make...this is the place. I have been to NOLA many times and the gumbo, jambalaya and red beans and rice here is just as good. They also make a fabulous prime rib that we ordered on thanksgiving. Admittedly, I ONLY stopped in for a snow cone. It was a stupidly hot summer afternoon and I was between appointments when a client suggested the icy cold treat right down the road. What got to me was when he mentioned they could add condensed milk to the snow cone, something I grew up on and love - it's a taste that brings me back to childhood! That's all it took before I was on my way. Everyone seems to have had a friendly welcome when they walk in to this establishment. I wish I could say that was the same for my case, but nonetheless, I was wowed. Though the silence was a bit odd, when I walked up to the counter the guy who helped me was friendly enough. I shared my excitement about the snow cone and he rang me up. While he prepped it I took a look around and was floored by their selections of meats, sides, cheeses and sandwiches. My goodness! If they weren't so far away from me I would totally dig into this place. The sandwich selection was great and the meat and seafood looked fresh and of great quality. I was a little overwhelmed by all the products, but impressed, too. It seemed a little pricey but I'd love to try their meats to know if it's worth it! Next time I'm in the area... When my snow cone was brought to me it had not one lick of condensed milk on it. I was dumbfounded, but also in a hurry to get to my next appointment so I just left. The smell when you walk in is out of this world, absolutely intoxicating! The owners and staff are friendly and always quick with a sample of whatever is cooking that day, and whatever it is, its always tasty. Not only are there a good selection of excellent meats, but the soups, stews, gumbos, and other prepared items are wonderful. They have started carrying deli sandwiches and I find myself craving the Roast Beef Po Boy on a regular basis. My husband and I often get the Family Dinner for 4 package which has a good variety of meats and prepared dishes and usually keeps our freezer stocked for a month. This is the first place we visit for holidays and parties, the meals always come out terrific. We do tend to spend alot, but thats because there are just so many tempting things, but everything is very reasonable. Visiting this shop is a culinary adventure and I find that the other patrons feel the same. I usually find myself exchanging recommendations with the other customers while I wait. The pulled pork BBQ, good for about 6-7 sandwiches, and baked beans were delicious. Also picked up a jar of 5 Amigos salsa and some queso dip; both were great, with a nice kick.
