1st Visit and it's already a hit. In town from Cornelius for my Grandson's 1st Karate Tournament. The next day, before going back to Cornelius (Charlotte) we stopped at Coggin's to get a new pair of shoes for the eldest grandson. Youngest is still OK but will need them when we come back down in April or May. After buying the shoes, my Son had previously expressed a desire in visiting Heywood's. Having had some great butcher shops when we lived in Ohio and Pennsylvania, I was pleased to see a shop with such an extensive offering. Granted that some of it is packaged in the upper midwest and shipped so it is not local, still a fair amount of good local meats as well. My son and his wife got a little of a number of items to try and I'm sure they will be back next weekend for more. My son loves to cook meat and is now dry aging his own meat as well. Nice to see such an offering so close to their house.

This is a wonderful place full of all kinds of treasures that you cannot find in your local chain grocery store. I love the traditional, neighborhood butcher, and Heywood's MEATS the criteria for that. I came in search of thick cut bacon and smoked salmon, and they had it--at least 8 different types of bacon. I got a half pound of the applewood smoked and the apple smoked with low sodium. I love that they have low sodium options, which you may not ascertain at most other traditional vendors. I believe in supporting local establishments, and I will definitely be back. They are also, and I will definitely be back. They owners are very kind, welcoming, and great you heartily when you walk in. Parking is ample in the adjacent shopping center.

Pork chops from Heywood's prepped for dinner. Ate too fast for an after photo because these were delicious!!!

Went here for the first time Sunday afternoon- I have to admit I was a little intimidated before walking through the doors because I had never been to an actual butcher outside of a grocery store before but once I walked in I felt so comfortable talking to the butcher, Patrick. He was very nice and filled me in on everything they have and answered my questions. I was able to sample some deli meats before I got them. The smoked ham tastes like it did when I was a kid- delicious!! The shop is a good size and the selection is huge- pork chops, ribs, tons of sausages that they make in house, fresh trout, salamis, pastramis, duck confit, soppressata, chorizo, pancetta, lamb, steaks, ribeyes, Kobe beef, just to name a few. Everything he has is local, no hormones, no MSG, no phosphates, no gmos and other crap they put in food and they know the farmers where they get their meat from. Love!! I walked away feeling confident with 1.5 inch pork chops and sliced smoked ham (from Riverfiew farms in North GA: which were AMAZING!) and 4 andouille sausages. I paid right around 20 bucks. I highly recommended this butcher shop and I can't wait to go back and learn some more about other types of meats and cuts.

Hidden gem. Everything is delicious and top quality. A bit pricey. They will slice bacon as thick as you like them.

It tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp or some kind of warmer but definitely didn't taste like it was recently fried, just warm and not very crunchy. My wife's catfish was mediocre, and also luke warm. The baked potato was good as served. My granddaughter had the kids fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. She said it was very good. The service was just barely average. The waitress only made the bare minimum number of trips to our table and seemed to be in a hurry during each visit. This is the first time I had been there in quite awhile. It is not what it used to be.

The location has been updated (in 2023) so it's a Love Boat kind of theme. Blue walls, gold fixtures, there's an aquarium, a generous sized bar, booths and tables throughout. It's like an "under the sea" type of decor. A place you feel like you've gone somewhere but you never left Cobb County. I returned today after being away for some years. Why? Just cooking at home, eating at new neighborhood spots and the occasional food hall. But nothing beats the good ole MFM plates. Still get bread and salads with your meal. Hearty portions. Great taste. Today we kept it light - grilled filet of flounder, sweet potato and hush puppies. I had the Shrimp Savannah - Sautéed jumbo shrimp in a white wine lemon beurre blanc sauce with chopped scallions, diced tomatoes and bacon served with garlic mashed potatoes. The presentation, portion and flavor were amazing. I'm a big fan and will order this again. For dessert, the SF cheesecake was a great finale to our meal. We couldn't finish it so boxed it up for later. MFM is a local staple, it's where families celebrate and couples go after church. Go and try their other locations in the family of restaurants.

I went this past week because I was looking for 2 specific items that I wasn't able to find at 2 other large Asian markets. Someone had suggested this Market because of the extensive ethnic choices. It has Asian (Korean, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Filipino), European, South American, Hispanic and American items. There are sections that have premade Asian meals, fresh seafood, extensive fruits and vegetables, frozen foods, pantry staples, bakery items, almost anything you might want. It's a large market and you could spend hours going up and down the aisles exploring. I was surprised to find they even had a favorite pop that I only thought I could get in Michigan. Now I know that I can go here and get it, without having to have it ordered online. It can get busy on the weekends when everyone is doing their weekly shopping, but I went later in the day and was able to find parking and not bump into people or long lines.

It has slowly gone downhill since then. I have bought their quart container of squeezed pink grapefruit juice many times, it used to be very reasonable. For the past couple of months the price has risen to $13.99 a quart !!! Whole Foods has the same thing for $8.99. Other sources are no where near $13.99. That's price gouging. All the daily house hold products are also much higher than Target, Walmart, Kroger, Publix. I cannot believe people pay the prices. Unless they are on special, berry's and fruit's are more expensive than Publix or Kroger and they look like they are second or third tier quality. The same for the vegetables, some literally still have dirt on them and are definitely poor quality. I bought sushi the other day at the counter in the back, for the price it was great. I decided to buy extra Wasabi, there were three kinds on the counter. None had a price, not on the container, not on the shelf. I asked the person behind the counter what were the prices, they said they didn't know, I would have to carry the wasabi literally diagonally across the store and get a price. The person couldn't call and ask ?!?! How does an employee not notice these items are not priced !?!? I have always loved the cafeteria, their entrees are delicious. Now some of the trays have nothing in them and some have been sitting in the trays and have a skim on the top because they haven't even stirred them up obviously for hours. 40% off after 4;30pm, great deal, but half or more of the food is gone, by 5pm they have pretty much closed up. The Mex part is closed at 4:30pm. So sad, a great resource, just about ruined. They also used to have cooking classes, which were great. They haven't had a class in years. Today I go in and by 4 items, the lines are long, so I took it to the quick checkout near the entrance. A person in front of me had over 10 items, each bag was like 5 pounds of vegetables each. He was not an employee, be paid cash. I asked the cashier so the line is no longer 10 items or less? She shrugged her shoulders !!! There used to be 10 items or less registers, at least two. Both of those have been long gone. It looks like BHFM is adding self checkout, the registers are installed and have sat there 2 years !?!? Still not open. With skyrocketing grocery prices and the competition in the area BHFM management needs to wake up. The outside isn't looking its best either. I hate to write this, but come on BHFM !!! Yes, there are some good deals, especially specials, but they are no where near the quality / price of Whole Foods or Dekalb Farmers Market. The same for H MART, I want competitive pricing and quality products, as a local, the "novelty" effect means nothing to me.
