Updated review...still delicious! We love stopping in to Corner Perk in Port Royal. The food is always reliable and delicious. There is a small parking lot just in front as well as street parking. You can dine inside or outside. You walk up to the counter to order and then take a numbered placard so they can find you when your order is ready. The biscuits are always banging, but we also love the skillet dishes, such as the huevos rancheros. You can earn rewards by typing in your phone number at the counter. They have your typical drinks, such as coffee and chai. When you are done, take a stroll near the Cypress wetlands. You are sure to see some lovely birds, an alligator to, and lots of turtles.

Had a great time and a great breakfast at this modern Port Royal café. My fam, including our golden retriever, loved the super friendly service by the dog-loving barista, who brought out a puppuchino free of charge and without being asked.

    Lavender Honey Latte- so good
    Stephanie B.

Great little coffee shop. My favorite is Honey lavender latte. I love that they offer vegetarian sausage- impossible brand. Small inside sitting area with long tables to share. Nice outside seating area. Small dirt parking lot in front but there is a lot of parking kind street.

Fast and friendly service. Peaceful and relaxing outside patio under some Spanish moss draped trees. The pecan cranberry chicken wrap was delicious. The salted caramel latte actually tasted like real caramel with a dash of salt! I wish they had more gluten free options but the food was delish with big portions and fresh ingredients. I will definitely come back!

My teenage grandson & I stopped in for breakfast on a Wednesday morning in early March. I was so excited to find a place open at 7am! We were lucky that we found a short line when we got there, and were greeted with a smile. There were two young ladies working behind the counter and the kitchen was directly behind them. I noticed a gentleman behind the counter, but over to the side and he was preparing a cup of coffee & chatting & laughing a bit with the ladies before walking away. I'll get to why I mention him in a sec. My grandson ordered brioche french toast from the Build your brunch menu. It was served a la carte $13. He also ordered a very small cup of cheesy grits ($3). His matcha iced latte ($4.60), unsweetened, was very good, after he added some sugar. I ordered the bacon basil biscuit - I wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, it didn't come with eggs but the employee told me I could add eggs if I wanted to. It was a biscuit with spinach (lots of stems to pull off), bacon and a mayo-type sauce, which made it pretty messy. I would have LOVED this IF - the biscuit was larger so that I had a bite of biscuit with my bacon, spinach & egg, if they had added only one fried egg instead of 2 (they were sliding all over the place), and if the bacon and spinach had been chopped, torn or otherwise made more 'biteable'. The dish came with 4 pieces of fruit (2 pineapple & 2 melon) and cost $10 + $2 for the eggs. My latte was made to order - for a 12oz cup with vanilla bean ($1) & almond milk ($.65) - total $5.60, it was delish. Not sure why they charged extra for almond milk! When we found a seat at one of the long tables, the man that had been friendly with the ladies was seated across from me & he greeted us. I heard them call my name & mentioned that I thought they delivered to us - I had added a tip to my check. He told me that we retrieve our drinks & they bring out the food. When my grandson brought my latte, I mentioned that I was surprised that they served in a paper cup. The man asked me if I would like him to ask for a mug for me & I said, wow that would be nice! So he did! Very nice of him. He told me he is a regular & they are like family. I try to avoid drinking my latte in a paper cup, it makes the experience less satisfying. I really liked this place & wish we could have enjoyed the patio but it was chilly out & they don't have patio heaters. My total for this very small breakfast was $41.63 and I left a tip on top of that. If I'm dining at a nice restaurant with full service and nice tables, I expect these prices. But this is a very casual place & very self-serve. I think I want a little more for my money. I gave them 4 stars for the hours, the friendliness, the loyalty of the regulars & the cleanliness of the tables. The food was tasty.

Bacon-Egg-Cheese on Everything Bagel Pineapple pieces.
    Amanda T.

I enjoy the Bacon-Egg-Chz on a bagel for a quick breakfast, but the fruit is not always fresh. Every time I end up with pineapple, it's cut so that the core is still in the piece. I don't have a knife to cut out the tough core, so it ends up being a waste.

My mother is totally blind and has worked with service dogs from The Seeing Eye for over 30 years. She and my father approached the hostess to be seated, with her service dog clearly wearing identification. The hostess immediately told them they were not allowed to enter the restaurant with the dog. My mother calmly explained that the dog is a legally protected service animal and showed her official ID. Despite this, the hostess continued to refuse entry. After my father dialed the police to report the denial of access, the hostess returned and said the manager had now approved their entry (the manager never came out) -- but they would have to wait to be seated even though other patrons were being seated immediately. At that point, another patron who had overheard the entire exchange spoke up. She was visibly offended by what she had witnessed and graciously offered my parents her table as it was called. Her kindness was the bright spot in an otherwise upsetting situation. Once seated, our waitress was wonderful -- kind, attentive, and professional. The food was good as well. However, by then, the damage was done. What should have been a pleasant family meal became a stressful and emotional experience. Losing our appetite was inevitable after watching my mother be treated in a way that was not only hurtful, but unlawful. I hope management uses this experience as an opportunity to properly train staff on service animal laws and disability access. No family should have to endure what ours did just to enjoy a meal out.

It has no flavor aside from cinnamon. It was just hot milk & cinnamon. I added a little sugar & it helped. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich & soup of the day for my entree. I unfortunately sent it back, due to not enjoying the taste. I was excited about the soup because I was told it had chickpeas. They were not cooked properly; chickpeas typically are best a day later, although I didn't see the chickpeas.. it seems like it had lentils that weren't soaked long enough? Unsure, regardless I was not a fan. I decided to still eat here & ordered the pecan crusted grilled chicken salad. Absolutely DELICIOUS! It was such a fresh & tasty salad. If coming here I would highly recommend this! I would not recommend any of the pastries. The apple danish was slightly underbaked. I know with wet apples, the bottom can sometimes not cook all the way, so at least this one would be a no. Flavor was ok, but texture was off. I also order muffin with carrots, raisins and I believe cinnamon. I do not recommend this either. It was too heavy & not cooked well enough. Because of everything in it, it was still a little too wet. The top of it was too heavy in cinnamon, as well. Overall, if on the hunt for a salad please try this place. Otherwise, not the first choice.

I was not entirely sure what a "waffle pop" would turn out to be, but I ended up with two of them in an order, freshly made and topped with one fruit and one sauce of choice. Getting bananas with blueberry sauce was a good choice, one of many I expect. My strawberry matcha with boba was compromised by them running out of strawberry boba, but the regular tapioca balls did just fine soaked in a robustly flavored beverage. Their donut selection was appealing, but I simply did not have room. It would be tough to get out of there without getting a ton of sugar, and this place did not seem to have a ton for the more niche special dietary needs. However, it did have a lot of interesting messaging as a community space, with resources directed towards military families in particular, which moves me to look favorably on the place. And their stuff is delicious.

It was not at all what I expected in a strip mall near a chain hotel. What a cheerful place, the walls yellow, the windows decorated with big bright suns, the menu boards artfully illustrated, kitchy motivational signs everywhere. I was greeted with a geniality matching the overall vibe by a woman whom it was apparent was the owner. I complimented her on the name "Sunny Summers". She told me it was named after her two daughters. There was a young girl working with her so I asked her if she was Sunny or Summer. She didn't say anything. As it turned out she was neither - just an unrelated employee. I had only come in for a cup of coffee but I saw the donuts and couldn't resist. Many of them were outrageous sugar bombs - and beautiful to look at. But I settled on a more sedate cinnamon-sugar. Glad I did. It was fried to order then dusted with the topping and served not in a bag but in a cute box sized just right for the single. So when I ate it in the car 5 minutes later it was still warm, and fresh as can be. Does she always do this or was it because I arrived just after opening? Unsure, but it was a spectacularly good donut. The coffee, too, was excellent. Strong, no bitterness or sourness, and from a local independent roaster. The other foods mostly fit in the category of sweet indulgences: donuts with crazy toppings, "waffle pops", french toast. A few lunch items like panini. The burger offering was made with pancakes rather than the traditional bun! Now a few words about the proprietor. I was astonished by her outfit that left little to the imagination. At 7 in the morning! It was hard to keep my eyes where they belonged but I managed! (Sorry, I have no photos, for obvious reasons.) I realized later, when I did more research on the place, that this was part of her shtick, playing off her reputation as retired professional wrestler Lacey Evans. Before that she was in the Marine Corps serving in the military police force. An interesting choice of careers for sure. There's a board with prepaid receipts that the less-fortunate can use to get food. That's great. I wish I had known about it when I was there, not later during my research. I would definitely have prepaid a meal. Also, discounts for military and first responders. Not necessarily how I would do things but I know her intentions were good. The world needs more places like this. So a plea to anyone reading this: You may not be able to give up your Dunkin and Starbucks completely, as I have. But just try it for a month, or even a week: next time you need a fix check Google or Yelp for independent coffee shops, try something different, even if you have to go a little out of your way. You may just discover a new favorite hangout.
