    Sausage egg and cheese biscuit
    Alana D.

I unexpectedly ended up eating here on a Sunday morning during a visit to the Cyprus Wetlands. Since we didn't have a lot of time to eat we placed a take out order and then walked the wetlands trail. The food was ready for us by the end of the walk (about 20min). We were very impressed as the food was affordable and delicious! We ordered a meal of 2 sausage and egg biscuits and a side of chorizo grits. Our total was less than $20 which we were happy to pay. The biscuits were huge and fluffy with perfectly cooked eggs and melted cheese. The chorizo grits were so flavorful! I would go to this adorable restaurant all the time if I lived closer to it.

Looked so promising. Great decor. Interesting menu. Good service. My husband had eggs, toast, ham and breakfast potatoes. It's not a cheap place. One piece of toast (?), potatoes with nothing. No seasoning. No onions. No Crispyness. Rest ok My disappointment was my pancake...the opposite of fluffy. Heavy and bland. My grits had no grit....they were a cup of creamy nothing. Again.....I had to season heavily. Egg good. We saw the cute building, made a special trip. Very disappointed. I hope the owner sees this....all an easy fix. Add baking powder to pancakes, get real grits. Like I said...cute place with good service.

Train wreck, crab cakes and French toast bites

Food was amazing!! The French toast bites and crab cakes are so delicious! Everyone was so kind and attentive. It was a great experience

Bacon, sausage, egg, and cheese all sandwiched between two 18 inch pancakes! Do you think you could finish it all?!?

This place is an absolute undiscovered gem that sits along the historic coast in The Palmetto State of South Carolina! A breakfast diner converted from an old one room school house, this place is jam packed with charm and old school southern charm! Not to be outdone by the ambiance is the food. Although they specialize in pancakes, they can pretty much whip up any southern classic breakfast food you can think of! I got The Mikey's Way Pancake Challenge: bacon, sausage, egg, and cheese all sandwiched between two 18 inch pancakes (yes... 18 inches) Let me tell ya, there's just something about made from scratch, buttermilk pancakes that the Walmart instant mix just can't imitate! These pancakes will send you to another real! So so good. Thick, fluffy, cakey, buttery... these things will send you back to childhood! I drove 3 hours to try these pancakes and I can tell ya, it was well worth the tank of gas! The only downside was the AC was busted on the day we visited so it was a little muggy, but I mean they were fixing it. Although the staff was sweating and hustling like crazy, they remained attentive and never lost that smile! Highly recommend! 10/10!!!

Reuben was good. Homemade corned beef made a difference.

We have visited this establishment through its three name changes and different owners. We weren't in a rush to return after the previous proprietor sold, as we never had a good enough experience worth repeating. The interior space did not really reflect a "renovation" or "redesign". It was OK, but not super cozy or welcoming. The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. The menu was absolutely breakfast forward, but it was lunch time and I noticed a French dip sandwich which used to be a favorite childhood pick. Once moving from the Midwest 30 years ago, I've rarely had a good FD. I was looking forward to finally break the spell. Really appreciated that you could pick your sides from a nice variety of offerings that were not limited to your basic fries or coleslaw. I opted for the fresh fruit bowl. My husband ordered the Reuben and waffle fries. His sandwich was a hit. The corned beef was not a deli sliced version which was awesome. The bread was griddled well and the sauerkraut added a nice but not overwhelming acidic hit. It was just in need of a bit more Thousand Island dressing. Surprisingly, my husband enjoyed the seasoned waffle fries. (We just prefer any fried potato without the ubiquitous coating). Sadly my quest to find a great French Dip in the South didn't materialize. It had potential- the bread was soft and fresh and the meat surprisingly plentiful and tender. Unfortunately, the only thing I could taste was salt. Absolutely no beefy flavor from the meat or the au jus. The best thing on my plate was the fruit bowl - blackberries, pineapple, blueberries, strawberries and melon. (Perfectly fresh, tart and sweet.). I would come back though to try the breakfast menu in cooler weather so we could sit outdoors. The ambiance is so much better than the interior.

Breakfast burrito, French dip, and a burger Everyone enjoyed their lunches

The bread they use is similar to an airy pizza crust, and topped with their three blends of cheese that are melted onto the bread before the meats and toppings are added. I've had almost the entire menu over the years, but my favorite is the simple sliced turkey, with lettuce, tomato (which I opt out of sometimes just because I'm not a huge tomato on a sandwich guy, unless it's an actual tomato sandwich...), onion, and then I ask to add their garlic mayo and banana peppers, and sometimes jalapeños. Their turkey club is a second favorite if I'm craving bacon on my sandwich (they also have a jalapeño bacon!). Their other deli sandwiches are great, like the original with a mix of luncheon and other deli meats. I love their lesser known meatball sandwich and cheeseburger. My wife's favorite is the pastrami. The staff at Alvin Ord's are some of the nicest folks I've met in the restaurant industry, and they're always super helpful to new and old customers alike. The vibe of the shop is like a little beachside surf shop, super casual and comfy, with indoor seating at mismatched tables, along with two screened in porches--one that's dog friendly. I can't recommend this place enough. I'd eat here every other day if I could--and that's only because I usually turn my regular sized sandwich into two days of lunch.

They use a cheese blend round bun. It really isn't a turkey club. It's more of a turkey sandwich with the fixings of a club. What I did not like at all was the bread. It totally killed the sandwich for me. It left a bad after taste. I can't really explain it. It just wasn't good. The turkey was ok. For the price of the sandwich though, I would have expected more turkey on it. There is a much better option across the street. Try Downtown Deli. It is superior to this establishment. Again, just my opinion. Try it for your self.

It has no flavor aside from cinnamon. It was just hot milk & cinnamon. I added a little sugar & it helped. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich & soup of the day for my entree. I unfortunately sent it back, due to not enjoying the taste. I was excited about the soup because I was told it had chickpeas. They were not cooked properly; chickpeas typically are best a day later, although I didn't see the chickpeas.. it seems like it had lentils that weren't soaked long enough? Unsure, regardless I was not a fan. I decided to still eat here & ordered the pecan crusted grilled chicken salad. Absolutely DELICIOUS! It was such a fresh & tasty salad. If coming here I would highly recommend this! I would not recommend any of the pastries. The apple danish was slightly underbaked. I know with wet apples, the bottom can sometimes not cook all the way, so at least this one would be a no. Flavor was ok, but texture was off. I also order muffin with carrots, raisins and I believe cinnamon. I do not recommend this either. It was too heavy & not cooked well enough. Because of everything in it, it was still a little too wet. The top of it was too heavy in cinnamon, as well. Overall, if on the hunt for a salad please try this place. Otherwise, not the first choice.

We will definitely be back and plan to make this a regular stop. We ordered a variety of subs, including a chicken salad sub, a turkey and avocado sub, and a pastrami Reuben (they all have names and numbers on the menu, which makes ordering easy). Every sub was a hit, but the real standout was the bread. It was hands down one of the best parts of the meal--fresh, flavorful, and honestly addictive. As someone who loves Jersey Mike's bread, this was far superior. We paired our subs with Vick's chips and sodas, which rounded everything out perfectly. We sat inside since the outdoor seating was full, and the interior was filled with memorabilia and details that really told the story of the place and added to the experience. It felt welcoming and full of character. The owner--or the gentleman working the register--made the experience even better. He was constantly checking in, taking orders, delivering food, and making everyone feel at home. His positive attitude and ability to juggle everything so seamlessly truly stood out and made us want to return. Between the outstanding subs, the warm service, and very reasonable prices--especially while traveling--this place checks all the boxes. We'll absolutely be back and only wish we had one back home.
