Spicy Italiano, Brisket Pastrami Rayz Way

Food was great! Fast service. Quality meat. We got the spicy Italian and the pastrami. It's a different type of meat than langers. It's less thick. But still comparable. The flavor was just right and not too salty. Only thing was we got lost looking for this place. It's a small building with limited parking. But luckily we were able to park right on the driveway.

This small-ish sandwich shop located in Glendale feels family owned and operated. When you walk in, there's a counter you can order from. There's also a few dry goods along the aisles. The people here are super friendly and helpful. I ordered the real deal brisket pastrami sandwich. Such a delicious sandwich and the size is pretty large. I think it could have lasted me two different meals. Especially if I got a side or two with it. Definitely would love to come back to try some of the other sandwiches. The prices is here are pretty reasonable especially with lots of expensive sandwich shops out there these days.

I saw an Instagram post about a thick-cut wagyu pastrami hoagie. Well, the thick-cut pastrami isn't a thing anymore. The pastrami is cut thin -- thin, but it's still good. What we ordered: 1) a create-your-own pastrami sandwich with mustard, pickles, and Swiss cheese, 2) their new pastrami cheesesteak. 3) a banana pudding (which I haven't tried yet) The standard pastrami hoagie good, but those kinds of pastrami sandwiches are pretty ubiquitous in SoCal-- pastrami, thinly sliced; maybe there's pickles, maybe there's mustard, maybe there's jus for a dip (their's is dry), on a French roll. I can get that kind of pastrami sandwich closer to me. On the other hand, a pastrami cheesesteak is NOT something you'd see around these parts. According to the menu, their cheesesteak has their signature pastrami, Cooper sharp cheddar, and onions on a hoagie roll. We preferred the pastrami cheesesteak over the standard, simply because of the novelty but also for the taste. The cheddar gave the cheesesteak a richness that a regular pastrami sandwich wouldn't have. Also, the melted cheddar had a binding effect on the pastrami; the meat stayed in the sandwich. You didn't end up with a third to half the pastrami ending up escaping the confines of the roll halves. The pastrami cheesesteak also included a 2oz serving cup of chipotle aioli which we really didn't need. The flavor on its own was enough for us. If I had a minor gripe on this cheesesteak, maybe a hit of acid would've been nice, but cheesesteaks usually lean toward rich and gooey so this sandwich's flavors and textures are par for the course. About the place itself: 1) the sandwich shop is on the corner of a major intersection, Lexington and Pacific 2) other than a driveway with a single space, it is ALL street parking. 3) there is NO parking on Pacific 4) the only dine-in option is a small porch with a couple of tables 5) be stage are all canned or bottled; there is no fountain The sandwiches are made to order. My order was given a wait time of 15 minutes but I'm pretty sure it was faster than that. I don't think I would drive all the way from the Rosemead area, but it's clearly a local's favorite. If we were in the area, we'd totally order the pastrami cheesesteak again, maybe with pepperonis. Their pastrami is no Langer's, but it's definitely a cut (no pun intended) over the standard Jim's 1/4 Lb or Rick's type joints. You can taste the care in its preparation. Overall, a really good sandwich place.

This was my first visit here. The guy at the counter recommended the brisket pastrami Rayz way. The sandwich lived up to the hype. The meat was so tender that it was immediately absorbed into my bloodstream! The bread was just barely toasted; perfect IMO. The other ingredients were complimentary players. The place itself is almost barn-like and there is an endless supply of potato chips and not much else. There are a couple of tables outside, but it wouldn't be adequate for a large group of people.

Came here on Friday early afternoon. I had the Turkey yum yum. I must say Ray and his employees NEVER EVER LET ME DOWN. Please please Ray bring your shop to North Orange County. If you're reading this review and are contain plating trying either location. Quit thinking about it and JUST DO IT!!!!!!!

This spot says they have the best sandwiches in town. So let's see if they're pretty good eh or ew. Everything is made to order and They let me try their popular rays way sando. It had A crispity crunchy yet pillowy chewy bread, a TON of lightly smokey umami savory tender quality pastrami, cheesy Swiss cheese, nutty fresh lettuce, mild cucumbery crunchy pickles and like a mayoy sauce. Yall know I'm not a mayo girly but in this sando it actually worked. Things can get a bit heavy and rich cuz of all that meat which I guess is a good thing. But Overall this place is lowkey pretty good $17.99

Took me a while to post a review because I was torn between 4 and 5 stars. I think in the end, the great service won me over. Definitely small business vibe with very friendly service. Heard about the place on social and happened to be in Glendale so stopped by. Parking is tight, but we got lucky with street parking which is 30 mins just in front of the store. They have two dedicated spots in front as well. We tried the smokin pastrami breakfast sandwich which was magnificent and can easily feed two. Fluffy light bread and perfect mix of meat, eggs, avocado and cheese. Five stars for sure. Make sure to get there before noon to try it out. Also tried the #8, pastrami Rays Way which was recommended as one of the sandwiches that put them on the map. I really wasn't a fan. Really wanted the pastrami to stand out, but it got lost in the sandwich and didn't really taste the meat until I deconstructed it but then was a pretty skinny sandwich :) unlike the breakfast sandwich which you don't expect the pastrami to stand out as much, this sandwich was supposed to pop with pastrami. Did I get a smaller portion than normal or just too much lettuce and aioli? Flavors were there, so will be back but may have to try the classic #6 real deal pastrami with just mustard and see if that turns me around. Definitely worth the trip and good luck with parking. Seem like they will take phone orders as well for quick in and out.

What a pleasant surprise. After an afternoon of shopping at the Galleria having a satisfying sandwich was an added bonus to the day. I had the Spicy Italiano which has ham and salami. The sandwich was filled with goodness and very tasty. They have two parking spaces available. I will definitely come back here.

Driving back to San Diego, I was really craving a sandwich that wasn't Subway or Jersey Mike's. I saw photos of these subs and knew I had to try out this place. I'm a firm believer that Deli's/Dub shops inside a market or corner store are always amazing and often times better than other brick and mortars! The people working were so incredibly kind, and it was awesome to shop around a bit for chips and snacks while I waited. I ordered the Pastrami Rayz Way; anytime a sub is named after someone, I figured it must be good and boy was I right! A very generous portion of tender brisket pastrami was piled on soft toasted bread, with gooey melted Swiss, crunchy pickles, fresh shredded lettuce, and a horseradish aioli. I love the tangy flavor of pickles and horseradish, so I think it could lean a little deeper in those flavors, but overall it was an incredible sandwich! I think I'll add jalapeño to it next time to give it a little kick. Please come here and get a sub - you'll be glad you did!

I'm always on the hunt for a great Italian sub. Saw this on the gram and the wife and I decided to visit. I got the Italian King and she ordered the Brisket pastrami. I have to say that, next to Baycities, this is the best Italian sub I've had anywhere in the LA area. Absolutely amazing. Bread is fresh and more like a hard roll which I prefer. The gentleman working (maybe the owner) checked on each table to ensure the food was good. The level of care reflects how good the food is. Very impressed and I'll make the drive out from DTLA again soon.

Decent sandwiches with good quality ingredients. The bread is delicious. Asked for no pickles last time, but got a ton of them. Didn't have the crazy wait time others have mentioned, and the interaction was friendly. Don't love going to the back of a grocery store to get a sandwich, and parking is a mixed bag. Overall a good place to get sandwiches. read more

Came into the store needing to use the restroom from being stuck in traffic. When I asked the gentleman to use the restroom, he was very nice to point me to the back without asking me to buy anything. After using the restroom I decided to order a sandwich. I got the pastrami sandwich and did not have any regrets. The bread was nicely toasted; a good bite and tasted they had just made it. The combination of cheese, mustard, veggies and pastrami was a good ratio. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would come back. I saw this on Instagram. Sometimes, the Instagram recommendations are a miss. Not the Corner Market. The sandwiches are great! The first time in, we got two sandwiches, the brisket pastrami Ray's way, and the spicy Italian. Both were very good! I have since driven from South LA to Glendale at least 5 additional times to get these sandwiches! Friendly and prompt service, great sandwiches, and lots of other treats to enjoy. read more

I wandered in looking for some eggs and other essentials, and saw they did sandwiches. It's been a minute, but WOW! I'm still thinking about it-- literally the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. I got the spicy ham. A perfect balance of flavors-- just the right amount of spread and the bread had great crunch. Also a generous size-- I had half for lunch and ate the rest at dinner. The guy said I should try the brisket pastrami, it sounds divine. So I'm definitely coming back! I tried this hidden gem a few weeks ago and I have been back at-least twice a week ever since. Their sandwiches are amazing! The breakfast pastrami sandwich with fresh jalapeños is my favorite. The pastrami sandwich Rayz way is great for lunch. I highly recommend this spot for anyone that is looking for a quality sandwich. Eating my first Turkey Tum Yum right now and the reviews are absolutely correct. Five star because the bread is crunchy on the outside soft on the inside fresh ingredients and perfect meat and condiment ratios. On top of it, your sandwich comes with a free water or soda, and the man at the counter is super friendly. It only took fiVe minutes for my sandwich at noon on a Wednesday. During my short wait, I saw a businessman, bringing fresh bread to the corner market Will go out of my way to eat here again read more

Had sandwich "Spicy Italiano"! It was so goooood!!!! Everything get together perfect in it. Also this place has CocaCola from Mexico which is the best taste. these two matching you must try to addict. come again to have other taste for sure. a person who makes sandwich for us was very nice too. very friendly and nice service. we ate outside table. read more

This place is a gem!! A must to try! Food - we ordered the pastrami sandwich... the meat is so tender, tasty and not salty at all. The best pastrami sandwich I ever had!!! We had left over, the next day the bread was not saggy at all, placed in air fryer for 3 minutes and it was so good and still fresh. Service - amazing service! So helpful Ambiance - love that small market place, and you can find chocolate and candies that you never had before and they are delicious. Best Hidden Place in Glendale!!! I would definitely recommend this place, and would rate it above 10. read more

Delicious sandwiches!! I had the spicy cappacola and my boyfriend got the pastrami! The bread was delicious and the sandwiches were great! Especially with a free drink included, the prices werent bad! We also picked up a huge container of pistachios for only $7!!! Will definitely be coming back! See this place all the time and finally stopped in and boy was I suprised at how good the sandwiches here are! So many great selections I got the rays way pastrami, hands down best pastrami sandwhich! The very next day I had to go back and get the same Sando it was just that good(yesterday) next one I have to try is the chopped cheese. I'm surprised that this place isn't the talk of the town! The sandwiches here have become my favorite in the city and maybe my top 3 in LA. There is something about the sandwiches here that really stand out. Starting from the bread, I've literally fell in love with the crunchiness and softness of the bread. What I also noticed is that they take the dough out which makes it even more pleasant. And now the main event, that tender and smoky pastrami has become my favorite sandwich. I've had many pastrami in LA including the famous Langers but this one has become my favorite. That smokie and tenderness of the meat which pairs perfectly with the bread is unbelievably good. If it ain't Rayz way then I don't want it. I've been stuck on the pastrami for a while and I may try out the Spicy Italian next as I've also heard good things about that sandwich. In addition, the service here has been outstanding. Nice little shop with friendly owners ready to assist. Whenever I need something very quick I don't want to stop by Ralph's or Vons this is my stop. A lot of community folks come here to do their main shopping there a lot of different type of Armenian foods and ethnic foods available they also have fresh cold cuts which the slice for you along with a bunch of cheese selections. If you go in the morning they also have fresh bread from different bakery's as well as pastries placed in plastic containers for you to take home and enjoy. My only problem with this place is the parking the parking is nonexistent because it's located between a bunch of residential properties with lots of cars always parked on the street. The owner took my money and closed the drawer and without using gloves went immediately and continued to make a sandwich. It was really disgusting. Turning away paying customers before your own early-closing sign is unprofessional enough, but treating patrons with outright attitude and laziness takes it to another level. If you want a bacon cheeseburger, their "bacon crispinator" doubles down on crispiness with their bacon and onion strings, but it's balanced with melty cheese. My wife ordered their oinkster pastrami, which we also enjoyed thoroughly. They serve a thin pastrami here, but our sandwich was absolutely loaded with it. Their mustard has nice flavor and a kick that balances everything. My favorite thing here are their fries with garlic aioli. Make sure you also get their house made chipotle ketchup, which has addictive sweet and tangy flavors. Overall, Oinkster was far better than I remember from my last visit over ten years ago.
